I aimed to determine when and under which seasonal environmental conditions gray mouse lemurs (Microcebus murinus), a small nocturnal primate species endemic to Madagascar, utilize daily torpor. Using temperature-sensitive radio collars, I measured skin temperature (T sk ) of free-ranging mouse lemurs under natural conditions. My results showed that male and female mouse lemurs in the wild enter torpor spontaneously over a wide range of ambient temperatures (T a ) during the dry season, but not during the rainy season. Mouse lemurs that remained normothermic had significantly lower body masses (mean: 59.7 g) than individuals that used torpor (mean: 80.2 g). Skin temperatures dropped to 20.9°C and the mean torpor bout duration is 10.3 h. The use of torpor on a given night varied among individuals, whereas the propensity for torpor did not differ significantly between males and females. I found no evidence that T a can be used to predict whether mouse lemurs will remain normothermic or enter torpor. It appears that the most reliable indicator for the occurrence of torpor in free-ranging Microcebus murinus is time of the year, i.e., photoperiod.  相似文献

The rate of digesta passage was measured in five captive Philippine flying lemurs (Cynocephalus volans). These animals were force fed capsules containing known quantities of either particulate or soluble markers. The volumes of the gastrointestinal tracts of three flying lemurs were determined based on the wet weight of the contents of each section of the gut. The mean rate of digesta passage was 14.37±3.31 h when determined using the particulate marker and 21.9±0.03 h when determined using the soluble marker. The values based on the particulate marker are between 2% and 10% of similar values for other arboreal folivores. The morphology of the gastrointestinal system of the Philippine flying lemur is similar to that of other hindgut fermenters. Flying lemurs have a simple stomach and a large caecum. The total gut capacity of the Philippine flying lemur is similar to that of other herbivores, but is slightly smaller than that of either the koala (Phascolarctos cinereus), a hindgut fermenter, or the three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus), a foregut fermenter. These data suggest that flying lemurs deal with the problems of a folivorous diet very differently than some other arboreal mammals. Phascolarctos cinereus and Bradypus variegatus may represent one extreme with Cynocephalus volans representing the other extreme along a continuum of foraging strategies that are compatible with the arboreal folivore lifestyle.Abbreviations bw body weight - EDTA ethylenediaminetetraaceticacid - MR metabolic rate - i mean rate of passage - t exp expected time to appearance - t o time to first appearance  相似文献

We aimed to investigate the pattern of utilisation of torpor and its impact on energy budgets in free-living grey mouse lemurs (Microcebus murinus), a small nocturnal primate endemic to Madagascar. We measured daily energy expenditure (DEE) and water turnover using doubly labelled water, and we used temperature-sensitive radio collars to measure skin temperature (T sk) and home range. Our results showed that male and female mouse lemurs in the wild enter torpor spontaneously over a wide range of ambient temperatures (T a) during the dry season, but not during the rainy season. Mouse lemurs remained torpid between 1.7–8.9 h with a daily mean of 3.4 h, and their T sk s fell to a minimum of 18.8 °C. Mean home ranges of mouse lemurs which remained normothermic were similar in the rainy and dry season. During the dry season, the mean home range of mouse lemurs showing daily torpor was significantly smaller than that of animals remaining normothermic. The DEE of M. murinus remaining normothermic in the rainy season (122 ± 65.4 kJ day−1) was about the same of that of normothermic mouse lemurs in the dry season (115.5 ± 27.3 kJ day−1). During the dry season, the mean DEE of M. murinus that utilised daily torpor was 103.4 ± 32.7 kJ day−1 which is not significantly different from the mean DEE of animals remaining normothermic. We found that the DEE of mouse lemurs using daily torpor was significantly correlated with the mean temperature difference between T sk and T a (r 2=0.37) and with torpor bout length (r 2 =0.46), while none of these factors explained significant amounts of variation in the DEE of the mouse lemurs remaining normothermic. The mean water flux rate of mouse lemurs using daily torpor (13.0 ± 4.1 ml day−1) was significantly lower than that of mouse lemurs remaining normothermic (19.4 ± 3.8 ml day−1), suggesting the lemurs conserve water by entering torpor. Thus, this first study on the energy budget of free-ranging M. murinus demonstrates that torpor may not only reflect its impact on the daily energy demands, but involve wider adaptive implications such as water requirements. The introduction of Eulemur fulvus in 1975 into the Berenty Reserve and their recent attainment of population densities comparable to those of Lemur catta led us to analyze food partitioning among the 3 large prosimian species in the gallery forest. We assessed the diets of ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta), brown lemurs (Eulemur fulvus) and sifakas (Propithecus verreauxi) from food intake measurements during 3 successive short-term studies. All species exhibited marked seasonal changes in their major food categories. Dietary overlap was very high between ring-tailed lemurs and brown lemurs during 2 of 3 seasons, including the middle of the dry season. During the latter period, Eulemur appeared to compensate for a low quality diet by increasing the amount of food eaten. In contrast, Lemur fed on lower amounts of food and seemed more efficient at coping with fibrous plant materials. There is low dietary overlap of Lemur catta and Eulemur fulvus versus Propithecus, which exhibit by far the highest dietary diversity of the 3 species. We discuss sustainable coexistence among them, based on respective dietary adaptations and potential for dietary flexibility.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent conformational transitions of deoxyoligonucleotides have been monitored by measuring 31P chemical shifts, spin-lattice relaxation times (T1), and 31P-{H} nuclear Overhauser enhancements (NOEs). The measured NOE ranged from 30 to 80%, compared to the theoretical maximum of 124% for a dipolar relaxation mediated by rapid isotropic rotation. The observed 3′-5′ phosphate diester 31P T1 showed a similar temperature dependence over the range 2–75°C for both double- and single-stranded oligonucleotides, and for dinucleotides. The results show that dipole–dipole interactions dominate the internucleotide phosphate relaxation rate in oligonucleotides. The same is true of terminal phosphate groups at low temperature; but at higher temperature another process, possibly due to contamination by paramagnetic ions, becomes dominant. The rotational correlation time τR calculated from the dipole–dipole relaxation rate of the internucleotide phosphate in d(pA)2 at 16°C is τR = 5.0 × 10?10 sec, implying a Stokes radius for isotropic rotation of 7.6 Å. The T1 and NOE values for the double-helical octanucleotide d(pA)3pGpC(pT)3 are consistent with dominance of dipole–dipole relaxation and isotropic rotation of a sphere of radius 14 Å, a reasonable dimension for the double helix. Activation energies for the rotation of dinucleotides range from 4 to 6 kcal/mol, close to the value of 4 kcal/mol expected for isotropic rotation. In order to test the possible effect of internal motion of correlation time τG on the results, we considered a model in which the nucleotide chain rotates about the P-O bonds. Comparison of the calculation with our experimental results shows that internal motion with τG ? 10?9 sec, as found from other studies to be present for large nucleic acids, would not influence out T1 and NOE values enough to be distinguished from isotropic rotation. However, we can conclude that τG cannot be as fast as 10?10 sec, even for dinucleotides.  相似文献

Hair can be an important source of biological information, providing a record of such things as pollutant exposure, hormonal levels, and stable isotope ratios. Hair as a biological sample is easily accessible, easily stored, and resists degradation. Analysis of hair is particularly useful when studying rare and endangered species, such as lemurs, since it can be sampled noninvasively. However, to better interpret the results of stable isotope or other analyses, it is important to understand hair growth rates. We measured hair growth rates in captive aye-ayes (Daubentonia madagascariensis), red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra), and black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata), both in winter (December 23, 2013, to January 13, 2014) and summer (July 10–31, 2013) at the Duke Lemur Center. Hair growth per week in all three species of lemurs differed significantly between the boreal summer and boreal winter. The aye-aye, black-and-white ruffed lemur, red ruffed lemur had a mean weekly hair growth of 0.195, 0.209, and 0.232 cm, respectively, in the summer. While the aye-aye, black-and-white ruffed lemur, and red ruffed lemur had a mean weekly hair growth of 0.239, 0.464, and 0.479 cm, respectively, in winter. We found no effect of age on hair growth rates, neither in the boreal summer, nor in the boreal winter for black-and-white ruffed lemurs and red ruffed lemurs. A pregnant black-and-white ruffed female displayed negligible hair growth during the northern winter, suggesting that pregnancy may affect the partitioning of resources away from such things as hair growth.  相似文献

The time course of the [K+]e increase elicited by terminal anoxia or by electroconvulsive shock (ECS) was compared in various parts of the rat brain. The [K+]e was measured with ion-selective microelectrodes stereotaxically introduced into the target area. Respiration arrest induced in anesthetized rats a slow [K+]e increase to about 6–10 mM followed by an abrupt rise to 30–50 mM (doubling time 5–14 sec) in the neocortex, hippocampus, amygdala, caudate nucleus, and thalamus. In the reticular formation, zona incerta, and lateral hypothalamus the second phase of [K+]e increase was much slower (doubling time 30–50 sec) and lacked the autoregenerative character. Trans-pinnate ECS (50 Hz, 0.5 sec, 80 mA), administered to rats immobilized with gallamine triethiodide, elicited a generalized [K+]e increase of the spreading depression type in neocortex and hippocampus (40 mM) as well as in the caudate nucleus and thalamus (20–30 mM), followed by slow [K+]e decrease (half-time 40–60 sec). Much lower ECS-induced [K+]e increase (to 5–6 mM) was observed in the reticular formation, zona incerta, lateral hypothalamus and, surprisingly, in the amygdala. It is concluded that the autoregenerative [K+]e release of spreading depression type develops in structures with high density of membranes reacting to partial depolarization by increased sodium permeability.  相似文献

Quasi-elastic light scattering as measured by intensity fluctuation (self-beat) spectroscopy in the time domain can be profitably used to follow both the translational diffusion D and the dominant internal flexing mode τint of DNA and its complexes with various histones in aqueous salt solutions. Without histones, DNA is found to have D = 1.6 × 10?8 cm2/sec and τint ? 5 × 10?4 sec in 0.8 M NaCl, 2 M urea at 20°C. Total histone as well as fraction F2A induce supercoiling (D = 2.6 × 10?8 cm2/sec, τint ? 2.8 × 10?4 sec) whereas fraction F1 induces uncoiling (D = 1.0 × 10?8 cm2/sec, τint ? 9.4 × 10?4 sec). Upon increasing the salt concentration to 1.5 M the DNA–histone complex dissociates (D = 1.8 × 10?8 cm2/sec). Upon decreasing the salt concentration to far below 0.8 M, the DNA–histone complex eventually precipitates as a chromatin gel.  相似文献

31P-Nmr relaxation parameters (spin-lattice relaxation time, linewidth, and nuclear Overhauser effect) were obtained at three different frequencies for poly(U) and a well-defined (145 ± 3 base-pair) fragment of DNA in solution. Data sets for the two samples were analyzed by theories which included relaxation by the mechanisms of 31P chemical shift anisotropy as well as by 1H-31P dipole–dipole interaction. Neither data set could be satisfactorily described by a single correlation time. A model of a rigid rotor most nearly fits the data for the DNA molecule. Parameters obtained from the least-square fit indicate (1) that the DNA undergoes anisotropic reorientation with a correlation time τ0 = 6.5 × 10?7 sec for the end-to-end motion, (2) the ratio of diffusion constants D/D is 91, and (3) that the linewidth is due to chemical shift dispersion to the extent of 0.5 ppm. Some deviations of the calculated from the observed values suggested that significant torsional and bending motions may also take place for this DNA. Another model which contains isotropic motion but with a broad distribution of correlation times was required to fit the data for poly(U). A log ? χ2 distribution function of correlation times [Scheafer, J. (1973) Macromolecules 6 , 881–888] described well the motion of poly(U) with the average correlation time τ = 3.3 × 10?9 sec and a distribution parameter p = 14.  相似文献

Proton and phosphorus-31 nuclear spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) have been measured with the Fourier-transform method at 100 and 40.5 MHz, respectively, on single-stranded polyriboadenylic acid (poly(A)) in a neutral D2O solution in the temperature range of 14–82°C. T1 minimum is observed around 35–45°C for H(8), H(1′), and phosphorus resonances. Rotational correlation times have been deduced from the T1 data, which indicate that the sugar–phosphate backbone as well as the base–sugar segment is undergoing rapid internal motion of 10?8–10?10 sec range. The molecular motion of the sugar–phosphate backbone as deduced from the phosphorus relaxation is well-characterized by a single activation enthalpy of 8.1 kal/mole for the whole temperature range of 14–82°C. Activation enthalpies of similar magnitude have been obtained for the motion of the adenine–ribose moiety from H(8) and H(1′) relaxation. The relative magnitude of T1 for H(8) and H(1′) infers that the poly(A) nucleotide exists on the average as anti in the single-stranded form. The phosphorus T1 value is consistent with a conformation such that both C(4′)–C(5′) and C(4′)–C(3′) bonds are nearly trans to their connected O–P bonds.  相似文献

A total of nine groups of ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata variegata), as well as one solitary individual, were observed on Nosy Mangabe, an island located off the eastern coast of Madagascar, for a total 536 min between November 30 and December 8, 1983. The average group size was 2.8 animals (N=5), and the population density was 175 animals/km2, as estimated from direct observation and location of vocalization. During the same period, nine groups of brown lemurs (Lemur fulvus albifrons) and one solitary individual were observed for a total 320 min. One group of brown lemurs was composed of eight animals (two adult males and females, one male juvenile, two infants, and one individual of undetermined age and sex). Feeding competition occurred between the two species, with whichVarecia variegata variegata dominating.  相似文献

In this paper, I provide data on the possible effects of group size and seasonal changes in food availability on the activity and habitat use patterns of two species of prosimian primate: the rufous lemur (Eulemur fulvus rufus) and the red-bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer). General and subtle seasonal differences were observed between lemur species in (1) group size and composition, (2) activity profiles, and (3) habitat use. Rufous lemur groups were larger (mean = 8 individuals) and contained more adults than red-bellied lemur groups (mean = 3 individuals). The overall degree and distribution of diurnal activity differed between lemur species and varied within species with seasonal changes in food availability. In general, rufous lemurs traveled more often than red-bellied lemurs. During food scarcity, both species increased the amount of time spent feeding, although peak feeding and traveling times differed. Both species also preferred horizontal substrates; however, during food scarcity, red-bellied lemurs used terminal branches more often while feeding than rufous lemurs. In addition, red-bellied lemurs used the lower middle story forest and rested in taller, upper canopy trees more often than rufous lemurs. Differences in activity and habitat use patterns between lemur species were more related to seasonal changes in food availability than overall differences in group size. These behavioral patterns may represent different strategies used by each lemur species to avoid directly competing for similar resources during times of food scarcity. © 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

Previously we found that Maximum Ingested Bite Size (Vb)—the largest piece of food that an animal will ingest whole without biting first—scales isometrically with body size in 17 species of strepsirrhines at the Duke Lemur Center (DLC). However, because this earlier study focused on only three food types (two with similar mechanical properties), it did not yield results that were easily applied to describing the broad diets of these taxa. Expressing Vb in terms of food mechanical properties allows us to compare data across food types, including foods of wild lemurs, to better understand dietary adaptations in lemurs. To this end, we quantified Vb in five species of lemurs at the DLC representing large and small frugivores and folivores using ten types of food that vary widely in stiffness and toughness to determine how these properties relate to bite sizes. We found that although most species take smaller bites of stiffer foods, this negative relationship was not statistically significant across the whole sample. However, there is a significant relationship between bite size and toughness. All three of the more frugivorous taxa in our sample take significantly smaller bites of tougher foods. However, the two more folivorous lemurs do not. They take small bites for all foods. This suggests that the species most adapted to the consumption of tough foods do not modulate their ingestive sizes to accommodate larger pieces of weak foods. We report the impact of dysprosium (Dy3+) dopant and magnesium oxide (MgO) modifier on the thermoluminescent properties of lithium borate (LB) glass via two procedures. The thermoluminescence (TL) glow curves reveal a single prominent peak at 190 °C for 0.5 mol% of Dy3+. An increase in MgO contents by 10 mol% enhances the TL intensity by a factor of 1.5 times without causing any shift in the maximum temperature. This enhancement is attributed to the occurrence of extra electron traps created via magnesium and the energy transfer to trivalent Dy3+ ions. Good linearity in the range of 0.01–4 Gy with a linear correlation coefficient of 0.998, fading as low as 21% over a period of 3 months, excellent reproducibility without oven annealing and tissue equivalent effective atomic numbers ~8.71 are achieved. The trap parameters, including geometric factor (μg), activation energy (E) and frequency factor (s) associated with LMB:Dy are also determined. These favorable TL characteristics of prepared glasses may contribute towards the development of Li2O–MgO–B2O3 radiation dosimeters. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The effects of delayed first feeding on growth and survival of spotted mandarin fish Siniperca scherzeri larvae were examined under controlled conditions. Morphometric characters [yolk‐sac volume, oil globule volume, head depth (HD), body depth (BD), eye diameter (ED), musculature height (MH), mouth diameter (MD) and total length (LT)], body mass (M), specific growth rate (SGR) and survival were evaluated under different first‐feeding time (2, 3, 4 and 5 days after hatching). Larvae began to feed exogenously at 2 days after hatching (DAH) and the point of no return (PNR) occurred between 5 and 6 DAH at 23° C, range ±1·0° C. The yolk volume of larvae first‐fed at 2 days had a significant difference compared with that of larvae first‐fed at 3, 4 and 5 days on 3 and 4 DAH. The larvae first‐fed at 2 days achieved comparatively better growth performance than that of 3, 4 and 5 days. On 5 DAH, all morphometric characters had significant differences between 2 and 5 days and 2 and 4 days initial feeding, respectively. Total mortality was recorded on 9 DAH for the larvae first‐fed at 5 days. On 12 DAH, significant differences were observed between 2 and 4 days and 3 and 4 days initial feeding for all morphometric characters. From 16 DAH to the end of experiment, all growth variables of the larvae first‐fed at 2 days were significantly higher than those in other treatments. The SGR (2–9 DAH) first‐fed at 2 and 3 days were significantly higher than 4 and 5 day treatments, and the SGR (9–16 DAH) first‐fed at 2 days was significantly higher than 3 and 4 day treatments. There was no significant difference, however, of SGR (16–28 DAH) among treatments. Survival rate was significantly higher at 2 days initial feeding (27·42%) when compared with 3 (15·96%) and 4 days (7·92%) initial feeding at the end of experiment. The present study suggests that the first feeding of S. scherzeri larvae should be initiated at 2 days after hatching for achieving good growth and survival.  相似文献

Aim We sought to quantify geographical variation in the stable isotope values of mouse lemurs (Microcebus) and to determine whether this variation reflects trophic differences among populations or baseline isotopic differences among habitats. If the latter pattern is demonstrated, then Microcebus can become a proxy for tracking baseline habitat isotopic variability. Establishing such a baseline is crucial for identifying niche partitioning in modern and ancient communities. Location We studied five species of Microcebus from eight distinct habitats across Madagascar. Methods We compared isotopic variation in C3 plants and Microcebus fur within and among localities. We predicted that carbon and nitrogen isotope values of Microcebus should: (1) vary as a function of abiotic variables such as rainfall and temperature, and (2) covary with isotopic values in plants. We checked for trophic differences among Microcebus populations by comparing the average difference between mouse lemur and plant isotope values for each locality. We then used multiple regression models to explain spatial isotope variation in mouse lemurs, testing a suite of explanatory abiotic variables. Results We found substantial isotopic variation geographically. Ranges for mean isotope values were similar for both Microcebus and plants across localities (carbon 3.5–4.0‰; nitrogen 10.5–11.0‰). Mean mouse lemur and plant isotope values were lowest in cool, moist localities and highest in hot, dry localities. Rainfall explained 58% of the variation in Microcebus carbon isotope values, and mean plant nitrogen isotope values explained 99.7% of the variation in Microcebus nitrogen isotope values. Average differences between mouse lemur and plant isotope values (carbon 5.0‰; nitrogen 5.9‰) were similar across localities. Main conclusions Isotopic data suggest that trophic differences among Microcebus populations were small. Carbon isotope values in mouse lemurs were negatively correlated with rainfall. Nitrogen isotope values in Microcebus and plants covaried. Such findings suggest that nitrogen isotope values for Microcebus are a particularly good proxy for tracking baseline isotopic differences among habitats. Our results will facilitate future comparative research on modern mouse lemur communities, and ecological interpretations of extinct Holocene communities.  相似文献

The CHCl3-soluble fraction of the whole plant of Duranta repens showed anti-plasmodial activity against the chloroquine-sensitive (D6) and chloroquine-resistant (W2) strains of Plasmodium falciparum, with IC50 values of 8.5?±?0.9 and 10.2?±?1.5?μg/mL, respectively. From this fraction, two new flavonoid glycosides, 7-O-α-d-glucopyranosyl-3,4′-dihydroxy-3′-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-5,6-dimethoxyflavone (1) and 7-O-α-d-glucopyranosyl(6′′′-p-hydroxcinnamoyl)-3,4′-dihydroxy-3′-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-5,6-dimethoxyflavone (2), along with five known flavonoids, 3,7,4′-trihydroxy-3′-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-5,6-dimethoxyflavone (3), 3,7-dihydroxy-3′-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-5,6,4′-trimethoxyflavone (4), 5,7-dihydroxy-3′-(2-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl)-3,6,4′-trimethoxyflavone (5), 3,7-dihydroxy-3′-(2-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-buten-yl)-5,6,4′-trimethoxyflavone (6), and 7-O-α-d-glucopyranosyl-3,5-dihydroxy-3′-(4′′-acetoxy-3′′-methylbutyl)-6,4′-dimethoxyflavone (7), have been isolated as anti-plasmodial principles. Their structures were deduced by spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR techniques. The compounds (1–7) showed potent anti-plasmodial activities against D6 and W2 strains of Plasmodium falciparum, with IC50 values in the range of 5.2–13.5?μM and 5.9–13.1?μM, respectively.  相似文献

In the late 1960s, pathologists at the San Diego Zoo began to notice iron storage in the internal organs of captive lemurs. Hemosiderin was found in liver, spleen, lymph nodes, duodenum, and occasionally other organs. This was most pronounced in Lemur macaco, least pronounced in Lemur catta, with the severity in Lemur variegatus variegatus and Lemur variegatus ruber falling somewhere in between. Since 1968, 20 of 29 necropsied lemurs had hemosiderosis, three with hepatomas, three with cholangiomas, and one with a metastatic pheochromocytoma. In a preliminary attempt to compare their iron absorption, five black-and-white ruffed lemur (Lemur variegatus variegatus) weanlings and five rhesus monkey weanlings were each given ~500 nmol/kg FeCI3 (27.9 μg iron/kg) containing 5 μCi of 59Fe in 0.1 M HCl via a nasogastric tube. Retained 59Fe was measured by whole body gamma counting and found to be roughly the same in the two groups, possibly because insufficient quantities of iron were administered and/or excessive iron absorption becomes apparent only in older animals. Our conclusions were the following: (1) Hemosiderosis in lemurs is associated with tissue damage similar to that seen in humans with idiopathic hemochromatosis. (2) Because iron deposits occur both in parenchymal cells and reticuloendothelial cells, hemosiderosis in lemurs is probably not a model for idiopathic hemochromatosis in a pure sense.  相似文献

The constituents of cape aloe were investigated after a preliminary screening of the growth-inhibiting effect on Ehrlich ascites tumor cells (EATC) of several extracts of this plant. Ten compounds were isolated from the dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) extract that showed the strongest activity, and their structures were elucidated as aloe-emodin (1), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2), p-hydroxyacetophenone (3), pyrocatechol (4), 10-oxooctadecanoic acid (5), 10-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid (6), methyl 10-hydroxyoctadecanoate (7), 7-hydroxy-2,5-dimethylchromone (8), furoaloesone (9), and 2-acetonyl-8-(2-furoylmethyl)-7-hydroxy-5-methylchromone (10) based on MS and various NMR spectroscopic techniques. Compounds 27 were isolated for the first time from cape aloe. Compounds 47 and 10 showed a significant growth-inhibiting effect, and compound 1 exhibited a remarkable synergistic effect on compounds 810, which was not observed with the treatment by each compound alone on EATC. These results suggest that the strong growth-inhibiting effect of the CH2Cl2 extract was dependent not on one compound alone, but on the synergistic effect from the combination of compound 1 and the other compounds.  相似文献

A total of 109 copulations was observed in six male-female pairs from four species of large Felidae. The mean intromission durations were 3.0 sec for Asian leopards (Panthera pardus), 3.3 sec for African leopards (Panthera pardus), 12.9 sec for snow leopards (Uncia uncia), 2.3 sec for spotted jaguars (Panthera onca), 3.3 sec for black jaguars (Panthera onca), and 12.4 sec for Siberian tigers (Panthera tigris). Behavioural patterns were qualitatively similar across species; all displayed a copulatory pattern with no lock, no intra-vaginal thrusting, ejaculation on a single insertion, and multiple ejaculations. Whereas domestic cats are reported to assume a neck grip and to tread prior to insertion, these larger Felidae generally did so after intromission had been achieved. After copulation, females of some pairs swiped at the male and displayed a rolling after-reaction.  相似文献
