Forty-four fungal species belonging to 20 genera were isolated from 30 samples of qat leaves. The most frequent genera wereAspergillus, Alternaria, Penicillium, andCladosporium followed byFusarium, Drechslera, Chœtomium, andMucor. The most prevalent species in above genera wereAspergillus niger, A. flavus, A fumigatus, Alternaria alternata, Penicillium chrysogenum, P. citrinum, Cladosporium cladosporioides, andFusarium verticillioides. From these fungi, 17 species (39%) related to 7 genera (35%) proved to be true endophytes. Eleven out of 75 isolates were mycotoxigenic.A. alternata produced alternariol and alternariol monomethyl ether whereasA. flavus produced aflatoxins B1 and B2. Ochratoxin A, sterigmatocystin, citrinin and T-2 toxin were produced byA. ochraceus, A. versicolor, P. citrinum andF. oxysporum, respectively. The presence of such toxigenic fungi associated with qat leaves is considered to be a threat to public health.  相似文献

Thirty-eight genera and 81 species of fungi were isolated and identified from 120 samples of 24 kinds of spices collected from different places at Assiut Governorate, Egypt. Predominant genera wereAspergillus (25 species) andPenicillium (7 species) of whichA. flavus, A. niger, A. ochraceus, A. fumigatus, A. flavus var.columnaris, A. terreus, P. chrysogenum andP. corylophilum were the most commonly occurring.  相似文献

Seventy-five species and three varieties which belong to thirty-four genera were identified from 74 soil samples collected from salt marshes in Egypt. The most frequent fungi wereAspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Cladosporium herbarum andAlternatia alternata, followed byAspergillus terreus,Curvularia spicifera andPenicillium notatum. Six genera were of moderate occurrence:Penicillium, Futarium, Curvularia, Rhizopus, Stachybotrys, andChaetomium. Fungi associated with two mite species,Acotyledon krameri andTyrophagus putrescentiœ, and their habitats were studied using 1% glucose-Czapek's and potato-dextrose agar media at 28±2°C. A total of 54 species and one variety belonging to 25 genera were recovered from different habitats of mite species; 36 species and one variety belonging to 18 genera were associated with mite bodies. Nearly most fungal species isolated from mite bodies were also encountered in their habitats. The most common species wereAspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, Mucor racemosus, Nectria hœmatococca. A. terreus, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis andTrichurus spiralis were isolated only from mite bodies whereasFusarium oxysporum, Penicillium chrysogenum, P. corylophilum, P. funiculosum andRhizopus stolonifer were recovered from the mite habitats.A. krameri individuals survived well onCunninghamella elegans, F. oxysporum andM. racemosus cultured on both type of media, whereasCylindrocarpon destructans was best forT. putrescentiœ survival.  相似文献

Taxonomic relationships amongst the genera of the southern African tribesPodalyrieae andLiparieae are discussed. Data gained from morphological, cytological and chemical investigations are analyzed cladistically to determine relationships. The genusCadia (tribeSophoreae) is included in the investigation to establish whether it should be transferred to thePodalyrieae. The results clearly indicate that thePodalyrieae andLiparieae are monophyletic and that they should be united, but thatHypocalyptus andCadia should be excluded. Within the monophyletic group, there are two distinct subclades each supported by three apomorphies. The results also show that there is a strong sister relationship betweenAmphithalea andCoelidium. In the taxonomic treatment theLiparieae are placed into synonymy under thePodalyrieae and two subtribes are recognized. A key to the genera in the tribe is given, followed by a synopsis of the genera.  相似文献

Seven species ofArachniodes from Japan and the Philippines were examined for phloroglucinol derivatives and glandularity of rhizome and petiole bases. For comparison 3 species ofDryopteris, 2 species ofNothoperanema, 3 species ofPolystichum, 1 species ofAcrophorus and 2 species ofCtenitis were investigated as well. Phloroglucinol derivatives were detected for the first time in the following taxa:Arachniodes assamica, A. cavalerii, A. tripinnata, A. yasu-inouei, Dryopteris pulvinulifera, D. cochleata, Polystichum rigens, Acrophorus nodosus, Ctenitis setosa andC. subglandulosa. The phloroglucinols ofDryopteris, Arachniodes andPolystichum are structurally related in agreement with the taxonomic relationships of these genera. On the other hand, the less related generaAcrophorus andCtenitis contain several unknown phloroglucinols not identical with those occurring in the former genera. The phloroglucinol containing species ofArachniodes, Polystichum, Acrophorus andCtenitis contain external glands, whereasDryopteris pulvinulifera andD. cochleata have both internal and external glands. The species of the genusNothoperanema seem to completely lack phloroglucinols and glands. The phloroglucinol composition of most taxa investigated is almost constant except for that inArachnoides amabilis and its varieties,A. aristata (A. exilis) andPolystichum tsus-simense. These species show varying phloroglucinol spectra in materials collected from different geographical sources.  相似文献

Seventeen fungal species belong to six genera were recovered from the four organs ofTilapia fish and the most common wereSaprolegnia ferax, S. diclina, Achlya dubia, A. americana, A. racemosa andA. flagellata, Dictyuchus sterile,Pythium undulatum andAphanomyces sp. Severe infection followed by death of all fish was incited byS. parasitica andS. ferax through experiment I. 30–70% ofT. nilotica andT. galileae were killed through experiment II byS. parasitica andS. ferax. A large number of yeasts were screened for the ability to assimilate hydrocarbons. Not only representatives of the genusCandida, but also species from other perfect and imperfect genera are able to usen-alkanes as sole carbon and energy source. The significance of this feature in yeast systematics is discussed. In general, all strains of a species share either the ability to assimilate hydrocarbons or the failure to do so. Exceptions are found in species regarded as heterogeneous, likeCandida sake, Candida diddensii andCandida zeylanoides. In cases where the usual criteria used in identification seem to be inadequate, the simple hydrocarbon assimilation test may be useful. Also in subgrouping the generaCandida andTorulopsis the test may be of value, because some perfect genera likeHansenula, Kluyveromyces andSaccharomyces lack hydrocarbon-assimilating representatives.  相似文献

Aralia, described by Linnaeus, remains a poorly defined genus. Many satellite genera ofAralia have been proposed, and some have been accepted without critical evaluation. These genera includeCoudenbergia, Megalopanax, Parapentapanax, andPentapanax. This study examined the historical background of the establishment of these genera and their diagnostic characters. It was found that (1)Aralia s. str. is a relatively diverse genus; (2) the separation ofPentapanax andParapentapanax fromAralia is unsubstantiated; (3)Megalopanax is synonymous withCoudenbergia; and (4) the boundaries betweenAralia and bothCoudenbergia andPentapanax intergrade. It is proposed, therefore, to mergeCoudenbergia, Parapentapanax, andPentapanax withAralia, which has nomenclatural priority.Aralia is herein defined as consisting of those species in Araliaceae with pinnate leaves, articulated rachises, five to eight-merous flowers, petals imbricate in buds, and articulated pedicels. The revised generic concept requires the following new combinations or new names:Aralia castanopsisicola, A. franchetti, A. gigantea, A. laevis, A. leschenaultii, A. parasitica, A. rex, A. subcordata, A. verticillata, andA. warmingiana.  相似文献

The air mycoflora of six indoor environments in Madras city (India) has been investigated by sampling air with an Andersen sampler and a Burkard personal sampler. Forty-eight species assignable to 24 genera were recorded by Andersen sampler. Spores belonging to 14 genera in addition toPenicillium andAspergillus were identified from Burkard trap slides. Species ofAspergillus, Penicillium, Mucor andRhizopus were most frequently isolated in considerable numbers. As a single genusAspergillus ranked first followed byPenicillium at some sites, andCladosporium at some other sites. The predominance ofPenicillium andAspergillus was also confirmed by Burkard trap data. Spores belonging toGanoderma, Nigrospora, Epicoccum, andTetraploa were recorded only by Burkard sampler, thereby suggesting the necessity of using two complimentary spore traps, cultural and non-cultural, in any aerobiological investigation.  相似文献

Growing cells of complementary mating types from two genera of yeasts,Saccharomyces andHansenula, exhibited sex-specific responses. Two kinds of responses were observed. Either one of the sexes grew preferentially toward its mate which ceased to bud and increased in size, or both mating types grew preferentially toward each other. A growth response was observed between mating types ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae andHansenula anomala presumably complementary.  相似文献

Adenocaulon andEriachaenium are two problematic genera because their tribal and subfamilial placement in Asteraceae is uncertain. Previous cladistic analyses based on molecular data undertaken to analyze the relationships within Asteraceae, placeAdenocaulon in the tribe Mutisieae (Cichorioideae). This paper investigates cladistic relationships amongAdenocaulon andEriachaenium and tribes of subfamilies Cichorioideae and Asteroideae using morphological data. Thirty-eight characters were scored across 52 genera selected as exemplar taxa to represent the current classification system. In the analysis (one tree, length = 86, c.i. = 0.55, r.i. = 0.64)Adenocaulon andEriachaenium are sister taxa and appear as an isolated clade nested in Cichorioideae. A new, tentative position among the tribes of the paraphyletic Cichorioideae is proposed for these two isolated genera.  相似文献

Several soilborne diseases have occurred in black pepper (Piper nigrum) plantations in the Dominican Republic since 1977. To understand environments in which the disease occurs fungal floras associated with them were studied. A total of 1,119 isolates, 603 from root segments of 12 vines, and 516 from fruit samples of 30 vines were identified as belonging to a total of 39 genera, namely, 31 from roots and 26 from fruits, excluding unsporulated fungi. The most dominant fungi wereFusarium in both root and fruit samples, followed byRhizoctonia, Diplodia, andPythium from roots, andDiplodia, Colletotrichum andPestalotia from the fruits. Preliminary pathogenicity tests towards leaves or roots of black pepper were conducted.  相似文献

A phylogenetic analysis was conducted on chloroplast DNA restriction site variation in 34 genera of grasses (familyPoaceae), including 28 genera from subfam.Pooideae (representing tribesAveneae, Brachypodieae, Bromeae, Meliceae, Poeae, Stipeae, andTriticeae) and representatives of three other subfamilies,Arundinoideae, Oryzoideae, andPanicoideae. Analyses of all 34 genera always distinguishedPooideae as monophyletic, regardless of which nonpooid genus functioned as outgroup; six separate analyses of all 28 pooid genera, each including one of the six nonpooid genera as outgroup, resolved five identically-constituted clades withinPooideae (in four cases), or (in the other two cases) yielded results that were less well resolved, but not in conflict with those of the other four analyses. The four best-resolved analyses distinguishedMeliceae as the earliest diverging lineage withinPooideae, andStipeae as the next. Above the point of divergence ofStipeae is a dichotomy between supertribeTriticodae (including tribesBrachypodieae, Bromeae, andTriticeae), and a clade comprisingPoeae andAveneae. The analysis supports some tribal realignments, specifically the assignment ofBriza, Chascolytrum, Microbriza, andTorreyochloa toAveneae, andArctagrostis, Catabrosa, andSesleria toPoeae. The analysis also suggests that the pooid spikelet (i.e., glumes shorter than lemmas and florets two or more) is plesiomorphic inPooideae, and that spikelets with one floret, and those with glumes longer than the first lemma, each have evolved more than once withinPooideae. Results also indicate that small chromosomes and chromosome numbers based on x=c. 10–12 are plesiomorphic withinPooideae. Alternative states of these characters (chromosomes large, chromosome numbers based on x=7) are interpreted as synapomorphies or parallelisms of clades that includeTriticodae, Aveneae, andPoeae. Lanceolate lodicule shape may be a synapomorphy of the clade that includesStipeae, Triticodae, Aveneae, andPoeae, and loss of lodicule vascularization a synapomorphy of the entirePooideae.  相似文献

The tribePlucheeae (Benth.)A. Anderb., has been analysed cladistically by means of a computerized parsimony program (Hennig 86), using theArctotideae as outgroup. The results of the analysis are presented in a consensus tree and one cladogram. Four major monophyletic subgroups can be recognized: TheColeocoma group (3 genera), thePterocaulon group (3 genera), theLaggera group (6 genera), and thePluchea group (12 genera). All recognized genera are described and most genera are supplied with taxonomical notes including comments on their taxonomic status. Genera such asBlumea, Pluchea, andEpaltes are demonstrated to be unnatural assemblages.Monarrhenus andTessaria are both closely related to thePluchea complex. The old generic nameLitogyne Harv. has been taken up for one species ofEpaltes, the genusRhodogeron is reduced to a synonym ofSachsia, and the following new combinations are made;Litogyne gariepina (DC.)A. The activities of laccase and tyrosinase, that is, oxidation activities ofp-phenylenediamine andp-cresol in the fruiting bodies of species belonging to various genera of Agaricales were examined. Among 40 genera examined, appreciable laccase activities were observed in fungi belonging toLepista, Omphalina, Agaricus, Russula andLactarius. High typosinase activities were found in many species ofHygrophorus, Laccaria, Lepista, Melanoleuca, Collybia, Marasmius, Amanita, Agaricus, Inocybe, Pholiota, Russula andLactarius. Species of other genera exmained did not show either enzyme activities to any extent. FromRussula delica andRussula pseudodelica, laccases were extracted and purified, and some characteristics were compared. Molecular weight and absorption spectra of these laccases were very similar to each other, but they were different in electrophoretical mobilities and substrate specificity. Starr and Argentine peanut cultivars were grown in soil fungicide treated irrigated and non-irrigated plots in a 2 year study designed to determine possible differences in invasion of developing seed pods byAspergillus flavus and other mycoflora. Many genera and species were isolated from whole pods and half shells throughout each season. Fungi were seldom isolated from kernels. No significant differences in populations between fungicide treatments, irrigation, or cultivars were found. Significant shifts in frequency of isolation of dominant genera (Fusarium andPenicillium) occurred during 1965 and 1966.Trichoderma viride, a minor component of the population at the first sampling in 1966, became a sub-dominant member by the last sampling. The reverse was true withA. niger. Several species of fungi, never before reported as occurring in peanut pods, were found in pods in this study:Actinomucor elegans, A. sclerotiorum, Sordaria fimicola, S. humana, andSporormia australis.Journal Article No. 1914, Oklahoma State University, Agricultural Experiment Station, Stillwater, Oklahoma.  相似文献

Summary A taxonomic study of the members of the family Choanephoraceae was undertaken. Almost all the species of the family have been isolated from various sources in India. Two genera, viz.,Blakeslea andChoanephora have been recognized and a key to the genera has been given. The genusBlakeslea includes only one speciesB. trispora and the genusChoanephora five species. A key to the species has also been given. A new variety ofChoanephora circinans, viz.,C. circinans var.prolifera Mehrotra andMehrotra based on the proliferating vesicular apices of the sporangiophores has been described.  相似文献

Eleven species belonging to seven genera in the Lardizabalaceae were analyzed in terms of restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of chloroplast DNA and the sequence of the chloroplast gene,rbcL, of Lardizabalaceae and its related families. Phylogenetic trees inferred from parsimony, neighbor joining and maximum likelihood methods based on RFLP data showed that two South American genera,Boquila andLardizabala, and three East Asian genera,Akebia, Holboellia andStauntonia are closely related to each other, respectively. On the other hand, the parsimony, neighbor joining and maximum likelihood trees constructed using sequence data of therbcL gene showed thatAkebia, Stauntonia, Boquila andLardizabala clustered as(((Akebia, Stauntonia), Boquila), Lardizabala). This difference may be attributable to fewer informative sites inrbcL genes than in RFLP in this family.Decaisnea diverges at the very base of the Lardizabalaceae.  相似文献

Seed coat morphology and evolution in Celtidaceae and Ulmaceae (Urticales)   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The seed coat surface morphology of Celtidaceae and Ulmaceae (Urticales) indicates a significant evolutionary diversity.Celtis, Chaetachme andPteroceltis (Celtidaceae) have a unique sculpturing with many crateriform holes; such holes occasionally sparsely occur in seeds ofAphananthe, Gironniera (Celtidaceae) andPlanera (Ulmaceae), but not in those of the nine remaining genera of the two families. The perforated seed coat further occurs in at least some genera of all other urticalean families. A pattern of its occurrence in families and genera suggest that the perforation represents a common archaic feature of all Urticales, rather than a feature derived many times independently within the order. The seed coat of Celtidaceae and Ulmaceae seems to have lately lost the holes probably by a neotenic evolution: one or more times within Celtidaceae, and one time in an ancestral line leading to all Ulmaceae. The derived reticulate seed coat surface sculpturing, which is shared byGironniera (Celtidaceae) and some Ulmaceae, is probably the result of parallel evolution. On the basis of evidence from seed coat morphology and other sources, close relationships ofLozanella, Parasponia andTrema within Celtidaceae, as well as variously distinct positions ofAmpelocera, Aphananthe andGironniera, are also discussed.  相似文献
