Pleurozium schreberi is one of the most common moss species in the forest area. It is dominant in the moss layer of blueberry and wood sorrel forests. It can occur in small quantities in almost all types of forests (even in bogs). It is also a typical component of the moss layer in tundra. The article considers the distribution of Pleurozium schreberi in the East European Plain and Eastern Fennoscandia. On the basis of literature sources on the occurrence of the species in different regions (according to point data), a model map of species distribution using the kriging-method has been created. The overlaying of the model map on the maps of spatial distribution of climatic parameters and vegetation zones in this area has revealed that the biogeographical preferences of the species. P. schreberi is characterized by its highest distribution in the forest zone. It often occurs here and represents a phytocenotically active species. The occurrence of Pleurozium schreberi dramatically decreases in the transition from the forest to the steppe zone, where it is a rather rare species, growing exclusively in pine and birch pegs. This species disappears in the open steppe. From the steppe zone to the south, the occurrence of Pleurozium schreberi gradually decreases with increase in summer temperatures and decrease in precipitation and with forest disappearance. In the north, where the species is highly active, its range abruptly ends on the coast of the Arctic Ocean. This pattern of distribution of Pleurozium schreberi is associated both with cenotic preferences and with climate: it becomes rare in regions with summer temperatures higher than +23°C and annual precipitation of less than 400 mm.  相似文献

A new method for determining the upper forest border (UFB) as the border of the “root-closed” stand and regrowth as its potential vanguard is proposed. The mass dispersal of Pinus sibirica populations by the nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes) in the UFB ecotone in the Northern Urals (Pavdinskii Kamen’ and Tretii Bugor Mountain) from the middle-mountain taiga to the mountain forest tundra and tundra at a distance reaching 1 km is found. It is done based on the original reconstruction method of the dynamics of population number in P. sibirica annual seedlings and on an analysis of their relations with the dynamics of the seed bearing and population number of the nutcracker. The trustworthy consortive relations of the number of Pinus sibirica generations in the mountain forested tundra and tundra zones, with its seed bearing and nutcracker number in the previous year in the middle-mountain taiga zone, are found. A significant increase, 3.7 times, in the number of seedling generations during the last 49 years is found in connection with the increase in the summer air temperature in the subarctic to 2.0°C. A hypothesis of the formation of the united genetic metapopulation of P. sibirica in the forest–tundra mountain ecotone zone as a consequence of its seed ornitochory from the highly different populations is formulated. A forecast of the mosaic formation of the vanguard “thin forests” in 20–25 years and the root-closed curtains of the forest in 40–50 years in the mountain tundra of the Northern Urals at the current rate of the rise in temperature is made.  相似文献

The Early Cretaceous Yingzuilazi Formation is exposed in the Baishan Basin, Baishan region of the southeastern Jilin Province, China. So far, no reports on fossil plants from this formation have been published. During recent field excursions, abundant faunal remains belonging to the Early Cretaceous Lycoptera–Ephemeropsis–Eosestheria assemblage of the Jehol Biota and numerous fossil plants were collected from the lacustrine beds of the lower part of this formation. A new species of Ginkgoales from this formation, Baiera baishanensis n. sp., is described based upon the leaf morphology and epidermal characters. This is the first report about fossil plants from the Yinzuilazi Formation, the easternmost distribution area of the Jehol Biota. The discovery of the new species extends significantly the stratigraphic and geographic distribution of Baiera in the Early Cretaceous Jehol Biota as well as the Eurasia. It also shows that Baiera was a common member of Ginkgophytes once lived in the Early Cretaceous deciduous forest of Northeast China. The new species also improves our knowledge on understanding the leaf morphology, epidermal features, and diversity of Baiera during the Early Cretaceous. Analysis of the epidermal characters of the new species and other associated plants reveals that the plants grew in a warm and humid climate in the temperate zone. The presence of some deciduous plants, including gingkgoaleans, czekanowskialeans, and some conifers, demonstrates a climate with seasonal fluctuations and precipitation.  相似文献

Three new species of Tropodiaptomus from southern Africa are described, Tropodiaptomus zambeziensis, T. bhangazii, and T. capriviensis. Type localities are a rice paddy on the Zambezi river delta, a coastal lake in Zululand, and temporary pools in Bushmanland and the eastern Caprivi in Namibia. Speciation of Tropodiaptomus in the warm inland waters of southern Africa is much more extensive than was formerly realised.  相似文献

Sixty-eight species of algae were found on granite outcrops of a canyon of the Teteriv River in the forest zone of Ukraine (Cyanoprokaryota 1 species, Chlorophyta 49, Streptophyta 11, Xanthophyta 2, Eustigmatophyta 1, Bacillariophyta 4). Two of these are new records for the flora of Ukraine [Spirotaenia bryophila (Brébisson) Lütkemüller and Coelastrella multistriata (Trenkwalder) Kalina et Pun?ochá?ová] and several are rare and interesting species [Stichococcus mirabilis Lagerheim, Dictyochloropsis splendida Geitler, D. reticulata (Tschermak-Woess) Tschermak-Woess, Mesotaenium macrococcum (Kützing) Roy et Bisset, M. chlamydosporum De Bary, Klebsormidium cf. bilatum Lokhorst]. The species composition of algae of this granite canyon was characterized by the following specific features: a high diversity of green algae (mainly trebouxiophycean and streptophycean algae); a considerable species diversity and abundance of green conjugating algae among the mentioned streptophycean algae; a low species diversity of cyanoprokaryotes, as well as the presence of the genera Mesotaenium Nägeli and Trentepohlia Martius in the dominating complex. Two slopes of the canyon with different expositions and plant cover were characterized by different proportions of epilithic and chasmoendolithic groups of algae as well as different dominating complexes. The species composition of algae from granite canyon of forest zone was the most similar to the more humid and shaded habitats of a granite canyon of steppe zone of Ukraine studied previously.  相似文献

Species composition and ecological structure of ground beetle population was studied in northern taiga meadows of the Arkhangelsk Region. Meadows in the northern forest zone proved to harbor 91 ground beetle species. Carabid complexes formed in the intrazonal biocenoses of the northern forest zone can be as rich as the family topical groups in the southern forest zone by the number of species and ecological diversity. Ecological properties of the fauna and ground beetle population proved similar in different parts of the forest zone. The proportion of stenobiotic meadow species proved to decrease while that of ecologically plastic ones increased from south to north. The proportion of the genus Harpalus decreased in the ground beetle population while the number of Amara species remained unaltered and their abundance increased. The changes in the species composition caused no transformation of the ecological structure of ground beetle population since they were limited to a single life form or guild.  相似文献

For tall grasslands of Carpathian avalanche troughs with dominantFestuca carpatica (orPoa nemoralis subsp.montana) a new alliance ofFestucion carpaticae has been established. AssociationFestucetum carpaticae Domin 1925 has been introduced into the alliance, with some new localities supported by phytocenological relevés. A new subass.senecietosum nemorensis was described from a forest zone. The plant community with dominantFestuca carpatica of the Roumanian Carpathian Mts. has been separated into a new associationSeslerio rigidae-Festucetum carpaticae and further, a new association of the same areaSaxifrago heucherifolii-Poetum montanae is described. Synmorfological, synecological, syntaxonomical and synchorological characteristics of the associations are mentioned.  相似文献

We describe a new subspecies of Pale-bellied Tapaculo Scytalopus griseicollis from the northern Eastern Cordillera of Colombia and Venezuela. This form differs diagnosably in plumage from described subspecies Scytalopus griseicollis griseicollis and Scytalopus griseicollis gilesi and from the latter in tail length. It is also differentiated non-diagnosably in voice from both these populations. Ecological niche modelling analysis suggests that the new subspecies is restricted to the Andean montane forest and páramo north of both the arid Chicamocha valley and the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy.  相似文献

Knowledge about the long-term influences of climate change on the amount of potential carbon (C) sequestration in forest ecosystems, including age-related dynamics, remains unclear. This study used two similar age-sequences of black locust forests (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) in the semi-arid and semi-humid zones of China’s Loess Plateau to assess the variation in C stocks and age-related dynamics. Our results demonstrated that black locust forests of the semi-humid zone stored significantly more C than did forests in the semi-arid zone, across the chronosequence (p < 0.001). The C carrying capacity of the plantations was measured at 166.4 Mg C ha−1 (1 Mg = 106 g) in the semi-humid zone, while the semi-arid zone had a capacity of only 79.4 Mg C ha−1. Soil organic C (SOC) increased continuously with stand age in the semi-arid zone (R2 = 0.84, p = 0.010). However, in the semi-humid zone, SOC declined sharply by 47.8% after the initial stage (5 to 10 y). The C stock in trees increased continuously with stand age in the semi-humid zone (R2 = 0.83, p = 0.011), yet in the semi-arid zone, it decreased dramatically from 43.0 Mg C ha−1 to 28.4 Mg C ha−1 during the old forest stage (38 to 56 y). The shift from being a net C sink to a net C source occurred at the initial stage in the semi-humid zone versus at the old forest stage in the semi-arid zone after reforestation. Surprisingly, with the exception of the initial and later stages (55 y), the patterns of C allocation among trees, soils, understory and litter were not statistically different between the two climate zones. Our results suggest that climate factors can alter the potential amount and age-related dynamics of forest C sequestration.  相似文献

The calanoid copepods of the Nile system   总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0
At least 11 or 12 calanoid taxa occur in the Nile system. One species is typical of the river and of Lake Chad (Th. galebi); two are restricted to Lake Victoria (Th. galeboides, T. stuhlmanni), but both might be only subspecies to more widespread species. One is restricted to Lakes Edward and George (T. worthingtoni) but is a little known species. No calanoids are on record from Lakes Albert and Kyoga, while the species reported from Lake Turkana (T. banforanus) is out of range, and almost certainly represents an erroneous record. Among the remaining species, four are East-African, ranging from the southern tip of the continent to the Ethiopian plateau and the Nile valley (P. schultzei, Th. mixtus, T. kraepelini, T. cf orientalis), while two are Sahelian species that span Africa from east to west (M. mauretanicus, T. processifer et ssp.).Two new synonyms are introduced. One new subspecies (T. processifier friedae) is described from the Ethiopian plateau. It is suggested that Tropodiaptomus orientalis (Brady, 1886), the type species of its genus, should not be considered a nomen dubium, but should be redescribed on its type female(s) and on topotypical males from Sri Lanka.  相似文献

A new species of army ant from the Aenictus wroughtonii group is described and illustrated based on the worker caste. Aenictus gutianshanensis Staab, sp. n. is known form a single colony collected in the subtropical mixed evergreen broad-leaved forest of the Gutianshan National Nature Reserve, South-East China. The new species is probably most closely related to A. vieti Jaitrong & Yamane, 2010 known from North Vietnam and Taiwan. It is suggested that the abundant records of A. camposi Wheeler & Chapman, 1925 from East and South-East China should be reevaluated, as they are probably A. gutianshanensis or A. vieti and not A. camposi, which is distributed in Sundaland, the Philippines, and the southernmost part of continental South-East Asia.  相似文献

We estimate habitat loss and fragmentation in a hoverfly, Aneriophora aureorufa, used as a representative forest specialist species. This species is a pollinator specialist of two native trees, forming a triad endemic to the South American Temperate Rainforest (SATR). We combine species distribution models with species-specific requirements to estimate the habitat range of A. aureorufa over two non-overlapping time periods (before human settlement to 2000, and from 2000 to 2014). We analyzed the predicted distribution range of A. aureorufa in Chile, quantifying habitat loss in both periods and fragmentation in the latter. In addition, we evaluated the representativeness of the Chilean protected areas system in relation to the current habitat of the species. We found that the total habitat of A. aureorufa decreased by 68.3% compared to historic pre-settlement levels; in the period 2000–2014 the loss was 4.9%. The northern zone was the most affected by habitat loss and fragmentation, with an estimated total loss of 89.9% from the historic period to 2014, with the loss of 238.2 km2 per year between 2000 and 2014. Eighteen percent of the habitat of A. aureorufa occurs within protected areas. We found an overrepresentation in the southern zone (24.79%) and an underrepresentation in the northern zone (3.44%). We propose that forest specialist species of the northern zone of the SATR could be threatened due to the high pressure of habitat loss and the underrepresentation of the Chilean protected areas systems.  相似文献

A new late Katian (Late Ordovician) trilobite association is documented from the Daduhe Formation in Zhenxiong, northeastern Yunnan, including 17 species of 15 genera, among which four species (Malongullia sinensis, M. zhenxiongensis, Taklamakania paucisegmentatus and Amphitryon constrictus) are new. Lithologic and faunal evidence enables the recognition of a new association with medium diversity, named the Taklamakania Association. It is a typical representative of the Raphiophorid Community that lived in a deep subtidal environment close to the anoxic basin. A total of five trilobite ecological associations were found to occur in South China during the late Katian, in relation to the environmental gradients ranging from shallow subtidal zone, deep subtidal zone, slope to dysoxic shaly basin.  相似文献

We asked the following questions regarding gap dynamics and regeneration strategies in Juniperus-Laurus forests: How important are gaps for the maintenance of tree diversity? What are the regeneration strategies of the tree species? Thirty canopy openings were randomly selected in the forest and in each the expanded gap area was delimited. Inside expanded gaps the distinction was made between gap and transition zone. In the 30 expanded gaps a plot, enclosing the gap and transition zone, was placed. In order to evaluate the differences in regeneration and size structure of tree species between forest and expanded gaps, 30 control plots were also delimited in the forest, near each expanded gap. In the 60 plots the number of seedlings, saplings, basal sprouts and adults of tree species were registered. Canopy height and width of adult individuals were also measured. The areas of the 30 gaps and expanded gaps were measured and the gap-maker identified. Juniperus-Laurus forests have a gap dynamic associated with small scale disturbances that cause the death, on average, of two trees, mainly of Juniperus brevifolia. Gap and expanded gap average dimensions are 8 and 25 m2, respectively. Gaps are of major importance for the maintenance of tree diversity since they are fundamental for the regeneration of all species, with the exception of Ilex azorica. Three types of regeneration behaviour and five regeneration strategies were identified: (1) Juniperus brevifolia and Erica azorica are pioneer species that regenerate in gaps from seedlings recruited after gap formation. However, Juniperus brevifolia is a pioneer persistent species capable of maintaining it self in the forest due to a high longevity and biomass; (2) Laurus azorica and Frangula azorica are primary species that regenerate in gaps from seedlings or saplings recruited before gap formation but Laurus azorica is able to maintain it self in the forest through asexual regeneration thus being considered a primary persistent species; (3) Ilex azorica is a mature species that regenerates in the forest.  相似文献

The frequency of introductions of non-indigenous forest insects into new habitats is increasing worldwide, often with profoundly adverse consequences on natural and plantation forest ecosystems. Understanding rates and patterns of spread of invasive forest insects is important for predicting when and where these species will expand their geographical range, with the potential to improve mitigation strategies. The woodwasp Sirex noctilio is a damaging invasive forest insect that kills numerous species of Pinus. Despite encountering highly variable eco-climatic conditions, S. noctilio has arrived and established in exotic pine forest production areas throughout the Southern Hemisphere. In this study, we compiled historical records of S. noctilio invasion to compare spread rates among eight contrasting eco-climatic regions in the Southern Hemisphere and to explore how spread rate is predicted by landscape variation in climate, habitat characteristics and anthropogenic effects. Spread rates for S. noctilio varied considerably among the invaded regions, ranging from 12 to 82 km per year. Among regions, spread rates of S. noctilio increased with increasing mean annual temperature and isothermality. We hypothesize that temperature may directly or indirectly influence S. noctilio population growth and dispersal, thereby influencing spread rates.  相似文献
