In July 1999, 2 heteromyid rodents Heteromys desmarestianus Gray, 1868, were collected from the Area de Conservación Guanacaste, Costa Rica, and examined for parasites. Individuals of a new species of Vexillata (Travassos, 1937) Durette-Desset, 1970, were found from the intestine of hosts. Vexillata brooksi n. sp. differs from all other congeners by the presence of spicules divided at the tip instead of simple spicules. The new species closely resembles Vexillata legallae Denke, 1977, and Vexillata convoluta (Caballero and Cerecero, 1943); however, it can be distinguished from both species by possessing a smaller number of cuticular ridges at the posterior part of the body in males (9 vs. 11 and 12, respectively) and by the absence of a carene at this level.  相似文献

Eight species of Syphacia (Nematoda: Oxyuridae) have been reported from South America in rodents of the Sigmodontinae, only 1 of which has been recorded in Argentina. Syphacia (Syphacia) carlitosi n. sp. is described from the ceca of Akodon azarae bibianae and Akodon azarae hunteri (Sigmodontinae: Akodontini) captured in 3 provinces in the northeast region of Argentina. The new species is differentiated principally by the shape of the cephalic plate; distribution of submedian papillae and amphids; presence, extent, and shape of cervical alae in females; absence of lateral alae; absence of deirids; spicular and gubernaculum length; shape and structure of accessory hook of gubernaculum; and distance of mamelons, excretory pore, and vulva from the anterior extremity. This is the second record of Syphacia parasitizing rodents of the tribe Akodontini.  相似文献

A new oxyurid nematode Syphacia hodarae n. sp. is described from the cecum and rectum of the cricetid rodent Calomys laucha Fischer, 1814 (Sigmodontinae, Phyllotini), captured in an agroecosystem of central Argentina. The new species is distinguished from other members of the genus mainly by the shape of the cephalic plate, presence of cervical alae in females, absence of lateral alae, and absence of deirids. Some characters are shared with Syphacia carlitosi, a parasite of Akodon azarae from the wetlands in Argentina. However, S. hodarae can be differentiated from this species by the absence of ornamentation on the accessory hook of the gubernaculum, length of spicule and gubernaculum, size of the eggs, and distance to the vulva from the anterior end. This is the first record of a Syphacia species from the tribe Phyllotini in Argentina, and the first time a Syphacia species is reported from C. laucha .  相似文献

Stilestrongylus peromysci n. sp. collected from Peromyscus difficilis (Hidalgo state, México), differs from other species in the genus in number of the spines (30) in the synlophe (both sexes) and because the eighth ray arises from the root of the ninth ray; S. hidalguensis n. sp. parasitised Peromyscus sp. and differs from all other congeneric species in the presence of 24 spines in the male synlophe and in the arrangement of the bursal rays (2-2-1 in the right lobe and 2-3 in the left lobe). Sciurodendrium bravohollisae n. sp. (Heligmonellidae) is described as an intestinal parasite of 2 squirrels, Sciurus aureogaster Cuvier, 1829, collected from Los Robles, Municipio de Tlalnepantla, Morelos State, Mexico. The new species differs from all other congeners in possessing a very well-developed and sacciform genital cone. This is the seventh species described for the genus and the first one recorded in Mexico.  相似文献

A new species of Spauligodon collected from Cnemidophorus mexicanus and C. deppii is described in this study. The species is placed in Spauligodon because the caudal alae start at the level of the precloacal papillae and embed the adcloacal papillae. The new species is most similar to S. goldbergi, but diagnostic traits of the former are the presence of 2 ridges in lateral alae, flaplike expansions in the caudal end of lateral alae, and a smooth tail for males. This species is the eighth recorded in the neotropics.  相似文献

Hysterothylacium perezi n. sp. is described from the intestine of the "cuatete" Ariopsis guatemalensis Günther, 1864 (Osteichthyes: Ariidae), in Tres Palos, a coastal lagoon located in the Mexican Pacific basin. The new species differs from all other species of Hysterothylacium Ward and Magath, 1917, in possessing a spinous postcloacal pad. In addition, H. perezi is readily distinguished from the 21 species described in fishes from America and Hawaii by having the greatest number of caudal papillae (47 to 51 pairs + 1 single, precloacal papillae). This species is the third described from hosts inhabiting estuarine environments in America and the fourth reported in Mexico.  相似文献

Syphacia muris (Nematoda: Oxyuridae) is a ubiquitous nematode that commonly infects rats in the laboratory which can interfere in the development of biological assays. The somatic extract of S. muris adults collected from infected rats was investigated using a proteomic approach. A shot-gun liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry procedure was used. We used the MASCOT search engine (Matrix-Science) and ProteinPilot software v2.0 (Applied Biosystems) for the database search. A total of 359 proteins were accurately identified from the worms. The largest protein families consisted of metabolic enzymes and those involved in the nucleic metabolism and cell cycle. Proteins of transmembrane receptors and those involved in protein metabolism, chaperones, structural and motor, signalling and calcium-binding proteins also were identified in the proteome of S. muris. Proteome array of S. muris may contribute to further elucidation of biological system of S. muris as well as host-parasite relationships.  相似文献

Gnathostoma lamothei n. sp., inhabiting the stomach of Procyon lotor hernandezii Wagler, 1831, in Tlacotalpan, Veracruz State, and Rio Sapo, Oaxaca, Mexico, is described. This new species differs from all other congeners by having the posterior half of the body surface covered by rows of tiny round bosses instead of spines, or lacking ornamentations. Sequences of the ITS2 of the ribosomal DNA of G. lamothei n. sp. are compared with sequences of other species of the genus recorded in Mexico; they show a wide divergence (<50%) with Gnathostoma binucleatum Almeyda-Artigas, 1991, and Gnathostoma turgidum Stossich, 1902, and high similarity with Gnathostoma sp. I sequence (99.2%). On the basis of morphometric traits and sequences, previous records of Gnathostoma sp. I (=Gnathostoma procyonis of Almeyda-Artigas et al., 1994, not Chandler, 1942, and Gnathostoma neoprocyonis nomen nudem) in Mexico are referred to as the new species.  相似文献

Les caractères du genreZenkoxyuris permettent de le rapprocher de l'autre genre parasite d'Anomaluridés:Acanthoxyurus Sandground, 1938 recontré chez les Anomalurinés. Les deux genres forment un petit ensemble particulier parmi les autres Oxyuridae parasites de Rongeurs.

Chaetodipus arenarius is an endemic species of the Baja California Peninsula. It has undergone taxonomic changes in the last few years. Today, two species, C. arenarius and Chaetodipus dalquesti, are formally recognized with an unknown range for each. However, genetic analysis showed the possible presence of a third species. The objectives of this study were to use molecular data (cytochrome b and cytochrome c oxidase subunit III genes) to determine how many genetic groups are present in C. arenarius in the Baja California Peninsula; if these groups have morphological characteristics that could be used to distinguish them; if the genetic groups have limited distributions; identify taxonomic implications; and establish if there are any associations amongst genetic groups and different habitats. Bayesian inference, maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, distance optimality criteria, and minimum spanning network indicated three monophyletic groups with high genetic differences (5.54–13.59%). These groups are morphologically diagnosable based on pelage and morphometric characters and geographical range. The three genetic groups correspond to three taxa previously described as subspecies or species. Based on our results, these should be considered to be different species: C. arenarius occupies the most extreme habitats with hot summers; C. dalquesti occupies the moistest coastal areas in the southern part of the peninsula, and Chaetodipus siccus is restricted by mountain ranges to the isolated Los Planes Basin and Cerralvo Island. © 2010 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2010.  相似文献

Summary Two new species of nematodes representing the genusLitomosoides were obtained from pocket gophers collected in the early 1960s and during 1982 in Colorado. Individuals ofLitomosoides thomomydis n. sp. were recovered from the abdominal cavities of two species of pocket gopher,Thomomys talpoides (Richardson) andT. bottae (Eydoux & Gervais). Nematodes representingL. westi n. sp. were recovered from the abdominal and pleural cavities of the plains pocket gopherGeomys bursarius (Shaw) from eastern Colorado. Résumé Austroxyuris finlaysoni Johnston & Mawson, 1938, un oxyure parasite du caecum et du gros intestin d'un marsupial pétauridé australien, Petauroides volans Kerr, est redécrit à partir d'un matériel nouveau. Les caractéristiques du genre Austroxyuris Johnston & Mawson, 1938 sont ensuite discutées. Ces oxyures pratiquent de manière facultative une forme d'insémination traumatique que l'on peut considérer comme relativement primitive.
Austroxyuris finlaysoni Johnston & Mawson, 1938, a pinworm parasite of an Australian marsupial, Petauroides volans Kerr, is redescribed. Morphological study of this species reveals: (i) the presence of very specialized oesophageal teeth in both sexes, (ii) the presence of an area rugosa and of a differentiated caudal bursa in the males, and (iii) the presence of a vagina vera modified into a spermatic pouch used during traumatic insemination. The morphological and biological characteristics of the genus Austroxyuris Johnston & Mawson, 1938 are discussed. The members of this genus occasionally use a form of traumatic insemination which can be considered relatively primitive.

Angiostrongylus morerai n. sp. (Nematoda: Angiostrongylidae) is described from the pulmonary arteries of Azara's grass mouse Akodon azarae (Rodentia: Cricetidae) in Argentina. It is distinguished from its congeners principally by the morphology of the dorsal ray, which is as long, or longer, than the externodorsals and has 2 long branches; the spicule lengths are also greater (400-465 microm). This is the first record of a metastrongyloid from sigmodontine rodents in Argentina.  相似文献

Oochoristica whitfieldi n. sp., parasitizing the intestine of the Oaxacan black iguana Ctenosaura oaxacana (Kohler and Hasbun, 2001), in Ruinas de Guiengola, Oaxaca state, Mexico, is described. The new species can be distinguished from all 4 congenera infecting Iguanidae in the neotropical realm in possessing a lower mean number of testes (122 in O. acapulcoensis Brooks, Pérez-Ponce de León, and García-Prieto, 1999; 62 in O. guanacastensis Brooks, Pérez-Ponce de León, and García-Prieto, 1999, and 95 in O. leonregagnonae Arizmendi-Espinosa, García-Prieto, and Guillén-Hernández, 2005, vs. 35 in O. whitfieldi), and a wider scolex (0.450-0.600, 0.475-0.537, 0.5-0.8, vs. 0.25-0.26, respectively). Oochoristica iguanae Bursey and Goldberg, 1996 differs from the new Mexican species in having a longer strobila (60-110 mm vs. 14.4-33.7 mm, respectively), fewer ovarian sublobes (6 vs. 11-17), and a cirrus pouch that hardly reaches excretory canals (whereas in O. whitfieldi the cirrus pouch widely overpasses these canals).  相似文献

Pudica trichomysae n. sp. (Trichostrongylina, Heligmosomoidea, Helligmonellidae, Pudicinae) from the small intestine of Trichomys fosteri (Rodentia: Echimydae) from the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul is described by light and scanning electron microscopy. Pudica trichomysae n. sp. is characterized by caudal bursa type 2–2-1, proportion of spicules length in relation to body length (SpL/BL) of 17 to 18% left and right, respectively. Dorsal ray divided at about the distal third into two branches, each branch divided into two long sub-branches, rays 9 and 10. Furthermore, this study shows for the first time details of the anterior region demonstrating papillae organization, amphids, derides, and opening of the excretory pore. The posterior end of the caudal bursa showed detail of the genital cone, papillae, and ray 1, and in the female, it showed interrupted ridges between the vulva and anus. In conclusion, the present species is the seventeenth described in the genus in South America and the first in Pantanal.  相似文献
