During investigation of the mycobiota in the Sea of Okhotsk, three new Penicillium species were isolated from subaqueous soils collected in the Sakhalin Gulf and in the northeastern part of the Sakhalin shelf, near the Piltun Bay. According to Raper and Thom’s classification, the newly described species P. piltunense, P. ochotense, and P. attenuatum belong to subsection Divaricata. Two analyses were performed to reveal the phylogenetic relationships of the putative new species with other Penicillium species. Phylogenetically, the new species are related to the members of the P. canescens group and share some morphological and physiological features with them. However, they differ in having a larger colony diameter that makes them similar to P. atrovenetum, P. coralligerum, and P. antarcticum. A detailed analysis based on ITS, combined β-tubulin and calmodulin datasets, and morphological features revealed that the new species formed a distinct group inside the P. atrovenetum subclade. Moreover, P. attenuatum differs from the other two species macro- and micromorphologically and may represent a distinct phylogenetic lineage.  相似文献

Senecio altimontanus, a new species from the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, Brazil, is described and illustrated. Senecio altimontanus appears to be restricted to high-elevation grasslands (campos de altitude). This new species is characterized by its usually simple stems that are densely leafy apically, coriaceous leaves, and 1–5 corymbiform capitulescences. It is closely related to Senecio apensis from which it differs by the size, shape, and margins of the leaves, the number of phyllaries, and pubescence of the cypselae.  相似文献

Elaphoglossum mickeliorum, a new species from the eastern slopes of the Peruvian Andes, is here described and illustrated. It belongs to E. sect. Polytrichia, which is characterized by the presence of subulate scales and absence of hydathodes on the sterile leaves of adult sporophytes. Herbarium specimens of this new species were first collected by Alwyn H. Gentry ca. 40 years ago, but these got readily confused with E. erinaceum and went undescribed since then. The new species differs from members of the E. erinaceum complex by having a nearly continuous band of planar, nonsubulate scales along the laminar margins of sterile leaves. Based on this character, E. mickeliorum resembles species such as E. glaziovii, E. ornatum, and E. scolopendrifolium. It differs from these by the presence of minute glandular hairs on petioles and costae. A distribution map and a figure with line drawings are also provided. For comparative purposes, the line drawing includes E. blepharoglottis, which is here illustrated for the first time.  相似文献

The two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae is an important pest of strawberry crops in Brazil and many other countries. Focus for biocontrol studies involving entomopathogenic fungi has been on three species from the genus Metarhizium: M. anisopliae sensu stricto (s.s.), M. brunneum and M. robertsii. Also, the species Beauveria bassiana has been studied for spider mite control and one isolate (ESALQPL63) is commercially available in Brazil. New and undescribed Metarhizium species have been found recently in Brazil and provide a pool of isolates with potential for biocontrol in Brazil and probably also elsewhere. The mortality of adult females of T. urticae when exposed to four new Brazilian species of Metarhizium was compared to the mortality when exposed to M. anisopliae s.s., M. brunneum, M. pingshaense, M. robertsii and Beauveria bassiana ESALQPL63. Fungal suspensions were sprayed onto mites at 107 conidia/mL with 0.05% Tween 80 in laboratory bio-assays. We measured total mortality and percentage sporulating cadavers 10 days after exposure and calculated median lethal time (LT50). The lowest LT50 (4.0 ± 0.17) was observed for mites treated with Metarhizium sp. Indet. 1 (ESALQ1638), which also performed well with respect to mortality after 10 days and capacity to sporulate from cadavers. Among the other little studied species tested, M. pingshaense (ESALQ3069 and ESALQ3222) and Metarhizium Indet. 2 (ESALQ1476) performed well and were comparable to B. bassiana (ESALQPL63). The new Metarhizium isolates and species thus showed potential for biological control.  相似文献

Phylogenetic analyses based on protein-encoding gene exons and introns of ATP citrate lyase (ACL1), beta tubulin (TUB), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB1), and translation elongation factor 1-α (TEF1) are used for inferring the existence of a new Clonostachys species from the Cerrado biome in Brazil, described here as C. chloroleuca. The species produces dimorphic, primary, and secondary conidiophores that form consistently greenish conidial masses on artificial media. It resembles therefore C. rosea f. catenulata although it differs from this species by less adpressed branches in the secondary conidiophores. The new species is also phylogenetically related to C. byssicola and C. rhizophaga. Our inventory suggests that C. byssicola, C. chloroleuca, C. pseudochroleuca, C. rhizophaga, C. rogersoniana, and C. rosea commonly occur in native and agriculturally used soils of the Cerrado and Amazon Forest. Using sequences available from two genome-sequenced strains employed as biological control agents, we confirm the identity of the European strain IK726 as C. rosea and identify strain 67-1 from China as C. chloroleuca.  相似文献

A new microcotylid, Tinrovia mamaevi n. sp. (Monogenea: Polyopisthocotylea), is described from the gills of Notacanthus bonaparte Risso (Notacanthiformes: Notacanthidae), sampled in the Western Mediterranean and North East Atlantic. This species is allocated to the subfamily Syncoelicotylinae Mamaev & Zubchenko, 1978 due to the possession of a symmetrical haptor with two separate frills. The clamps in T. mamaevi n. sp. are of the “microcotylid” type, arranged in two distinct lateral haptoral frills; the genital atrium and the copulatory organ are armed and the vaginal pore is unarmed. The new species differs from the type- and only species of the genus, T. papiliocauda Mamaev, 1987, in having a shorter and narrower haptor with a smaller number of clamps. Clamps are also smaller in the new species, testes are more numerous, the genital atrium is smaller, divided into two lateral lobes (instead of five) with a smaller number of spines and the eggs have a short and a long filament (instead of two short filaments). The host species and locality of T. mamaevi n. sp. also differ as T. papiliocauda which was recorded in Notacanthus sexspinis Richardson from the South Pacific.  相似文献

Four species of Lyomyces (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) are described as new for science, based on collections from Réunion Island (L. allantosporus and L. mascarensis), southeast Brazil (L.organensis), and Taiwan (L. orientalis). All four species belong to the L. sambuci complex and grow on dead wood. Basidiomata photographs and line drawings of microstructures are provided for each species. The specific status of the new taxa was confirmed by ITS and 28S phylogenetical analyses. The concept of L. sambuci s. str. is discussed. Molecular data reveal one additional cryptic species from Europe, morphologically identical with L. sambuci s. str.  相似文献

Researches have reported that reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced oxidative stress plays an important role in cell cryodamage during cryopreservation. In the current study, pollen from Magnolia denudata and Paeonia lactiflora ‘Zi Feng Chao Yang’ was cryopreserved and incubated with exogenous catalase (CAT) and malate dehydrogenase (MDH) immediately after thawing. The effect of CAT and MDH on the germination of cryopreserved pollen was measured. Based on that, the ROS level, lipid peroxidation and antioxidants activities in fresh pollen, cryopreserved pollen added with or without CAT or MDH were determined to investigate their relationship with oxidative stress. Pollen from Magnolia and Paeonia showed a significant loss of germination, but marked increase of ROS and malondialdehyde (MDA) production after cryostorage. Antioxidant profiles in them were also enhanced. CAT and MDH addition increased the post-LN pollen germination of Magnolia and Paeonia significantly. Their germination rate achieved the highest with 100 IU ml?1 MDH and 400 IU ml?1 CAT application, respectively. Compared to their untreated controls, ROS and MDA accumulation reduced significantly in cryopreserved Magnolia pollen treated with 100 IU ml?1 MDH, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity improved markedly. In the case of Paeonia, significantly lower level of ROS and MDA, but higher activity of CAT and SOD were observed in cryopreserved pollen treated with 400 IU ml?1 CAT. In conclusion, pollen deterioration after cryopreservation is associated with ROS-induced oxidative stress. Exogenous CAT and MDH can reduce the oxidative damage through the activity stimulation of antioxidant enzymes, and play a protective role in the pollen during cryopreservation.  相似文献

Two new species of the genus Leptochiton, L. сommandorensis sp. nov. and L. incubatus sp. nov. from north-western Pacific are described. Leptochiton сommandorensis differs from the congeners in having radial rows of granules in the lateral areas of intermediate valves, unicuspid dental cap on major lateral teeth of the radula, and dorsal scales with two ribs. Leptochiton incubatus differs from the congeners in having one aesthete pore in each granule, a shallow depression between the central and lateral areas of intermediate valves and between the antemucronal and postmucronal areas of the tail valve, and unicuspid head of major lateral teeth of radula. This species is brooding.  相似文献

Maxillariella prostrata, a new species from Costa Rica and Panama is described and illustrated. This species is similar to M. acervata but differs in having a prostrate habit, elliptic leaves up to 2 cm long, pseudobulbs with two unequal apical leaves, one larger and the other smaller, a red-spotted lip, the column apex entire, and the pollinarium made up of two small globose pollinia on an oblong stipe. Maxillariella prostrata also resembles M. dichaeoides from Ecuador and Peru but differs in having yellow to white flowers spotted with red, and the lip with a well-defined callus.  相似文献

Canavalia llanorum (subgenus Wenderothia) from the northwestern Llanos region of Colombia and Venezuela (Orinoquia) is described and illustrated, and its morphological relationship with an allied species is discussed. The new species is morphologically related to C. bicarinata, but it differs mainly by its legumes having only one extra medium rib (vs. two ribs in C. bicarinata), and by its leaflets elliptic-ovate or obovate (vs. ovate). We also discuss the phylogenetic position of C. llanorum and present geographical and ecological information about the new species.  相似文献

A new nematode Parapharyngodon hugoi n. sp. (Oxyuroidea: Pharyngodonidae) is described parasitising the large intestine of the tree frog Trachycephalus typhonius (Linnaeus) (Anura: Hylidae) from the wetlands of Pantanal, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The new species exhibits a unique structure of the posterior cloacal lip in males, which is supported by a rigid V-shaped structure. Parapharyngodon hylidae parasitic in hylid frogs, including T. typhonius, from Mexico, is the most similar congener to P. hugoi n. sp. but is distinguished from the new species by the presence of a gubernaculum (vs absence), by the lateral alae in males ending far anterior to cloacal opening (vs near to it) and because in gravid females the ovaries encircle the oesophageal corpus. Additionally, the new species differs from its congeners as well as from species of Thelandros Wedl, 1862, a very closely related genus, by the combination of features such as spicule length, number of caudal papillae, morphology of the anterior cloacal lip, which is echinate, and position of ovaries. The geographical distribution of hosts seems to play an important role in the speciation process of Parapharyngodon spp.; however, due the lack of molecular data this issue along with the validity of both Thelandros and Parapharyngodon are still questions to be solved in the future, after improvement of the genetic database. A key to the species of Parapharyngodon parasitic in amphibians from the American continent is provided.  相似文献

The new species Trichoderma ovalisporum is described and its biocontrol potential against Crinipellis species is analyzed. Using partial nuclear translation elongation factor 1α (EF-1α) and partial nuclear actin gene intron and exon sequences, T. ovalisporum is identified as a member of Trichoderma sect. Trichoderma and as a close relative of T. koningii-like taxa that have ellipsoidal to oblong, smooth conidia. Sequences of the internal transcribed spacer regions 1 and 2 (ITS) of the nuclear ribosomal gene cluster did not resolve the phylogeny of T. ovalisporum and its closest relatives. Trichoderma ovalisporum is morphologically similar to T. koningii, Hypocrea stilbohypoxyli, and three as yet undescribed Trichoderma taxa. It differs from its close relatives in having smaller, ovoidal conidia and in its fast rate of growth at 30 °C. Trichoderma ovalisporum was isolated twice: once from witches’ broom (Crinipellis perniciosa)-infected tissue of a liana (Banisteriopsis caapi, Malpighiaceae) collected in Ecuador. The second isolation was from the healthy bole of a mature tree of Theobroma grandiflorum (cupuaçu, Malvaceae) collected in Brazil (Pará). The liana isolate reinfected and was reisolated from meristematic tissues of seedlings of Theobroma cacao, and inhibited radial growth of the frosty pod rot pathogen (Crinipellis roreri) in vitro. It also persisted on the surface, and within the tissues, of cocoa pods in the field for at least 10 weeks.  相似文献

A novel saprobic fungal genus, Thyridariella (Thyridariaceae), is herein described to include Thyridariella mangrovei, the type species and T. mahakoshae spp. nov. Both species were collected as saprobes on decaying wood of Avicennia marina, a common mangrove species found near Kaveri River Delta, Tamil Nadu, on the east coast of India. Thyridariella is diagnosed by having an exclusive combination of characters, such as ascomata with ostiolar necks thickened laterally, hyaline, and centrally constricted muriform ascospores with a single longitudinal septum in each segment and surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath. These characters demarcate these taxa from morphologically similar genera such as Halojulella and Julella. In addition, the new genus also differs from Parathyridaria and Thyridaria in having hyaline, muriform ascospores with distinct mucilaginous sheaths. The monophyly of Thyridariella is well supported in the phylogenetic analysis based on a concatenated dataset from two proteins and three nuclear gene regions. The phylogeny also depicts a sister group relationship of our new genus to Parathyridaria and Thyridaria and hence confirms its position within Thyridariaceae.  相似文献

During a survey of endophytic fungi in the cucurbit plants collected from Henan, China, a new species, Phialemoniopsis endophytica was isolated from the lower stem of Luffa cylindrica. It differs from other Phialemoniopsis species by its cylindrical to flask-shaped phialides, falcate conidia with blunt ends, ostiolate pycnidium-like conidiomata without marginal setae and ellipsoidal chlamydospores. Multi-locus (ITS, LSU, ACT, and TUB) phylogenetic analysis confirmed that P. endophytica is distinct from other species. A synopsis of the morphological characters of the new species is provided.  相似文献

A new species of Empruthotrema Johnston & Tiegs, 1922 is described based on specimens collected from the olfactory sacs of smooth butterfly rays Gymnura micrura (Bloch & Schneider) captured in Mobile Bay (northcentral Gulf of Mexico), Alabama, USA. Empruthotrema longipenis n. sp. is most similar to the type-species Empruthotrema raiae (MacCallum, 1916) Johnston & Tiegs, 1922 by having 12 marginal and two interhamular loculi with members of haptoral hook pair 1 located midway along the periphery of each interhamular loculus and those of hook pair 2 located at the marginal termini of the bilateral septa flanking the interhamular loculi. Empruthotrema longipenis n. sp. differs from E. raiae by having a much longer male copulatory organ and from its remaining congeners by the sinistral and extracecal ejaculatory bulb flanking the pharynx, the number of interhamular and marginal septa, and the distribution of hook pairs 1 and 2 along the haptoral margin. This is the first report of a monocotylid from the smooth butterfly ray and from Mobile Bay. The diversity of haptoral morphotypes among the currently accepted species of Empruthotrema is detailed and discussed in the context of monophyly of the genus.  相似文献

Three species of Heteromazocraes Mamaev, 1981 including two new taxa are described from the gills of three species of engraulid fishes Thryssa mystax (Bloch & Schneider), T. setirostris (Broussonet) and T. malabarica (Bloch) collected from the coastal waters off Visakhapatnam, Bay of Bengal. Heteromazocraes thryssaensis n. sp. differs from the closely related H. dodecacantha Mamaev, 1981 in the shape of the body and ovary, the number of testes and the number and shape of the genital hooks. Heteromazocraes engrauliae n. sp. differs from all the other species of the genus in the relative sizes of the haptoral clamps, in that the four closed clamps on the left side are larger than the two open clamps on the right side, in contrast to the situation in other species where the two open clamps on the anterior right side are markedly larger than the remaining clamps. Heteromazocraes kazikodiensis (Gupta & Khullar, 1967) Mamaev, 1981 regarded as a species inquirenda is redescribed with additional details and is reinstated as a valid species. A review of Heteromazocraes including a key for identification of the species is provided.  相似文献
