Novel Pt nanoclusters embedded polypyrrole nanowires (PPy-Pt) composite was electrosynthesized on a glassy carbon electrode, denoted as PPy-Pt/GCE. A glucose biosensor was further fabricated based on immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOD) in an electropolymerized non-conducting poly(o-aminophenol) (POAP) film that was deposited on the PPy-Pt/GCE. The morphologies of the PPy nanowires and PPy-Pt nanocomposite were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). Effect of experimental conditions involving the cycle numbers for POAP deposition and Pt nanoclusters deposition, applied potential used in glucose determination, temperature and pH value of the detection solution were investigated for optimization. The biosensor exhibited an excellent current response to glucose over a wide linear range from 1.5 × 10−6 to 1.3 × 10−2 M (r = 0.9982) with a detection limit of 4.5 × 10−7 M (s/n = 3). Based on the combination of permselectivity of the POAP and the PPy films, the sensor had good anti-interference ability to ascorbic acid (AA), uric acid (UA) and acetaminophen. The apparent Michaelis–Menten constant (Km) and the maximum current density (Im) were estimated to be 23.9 mM and 378 μA/cm2, respectively. Bovine plasma was assayed to determine if ergotamine affected plasma metabolite and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) concentrations. In Experiment 1, four cows received a single bolus intravenous injection of ergotamine tartrate (19 microg/kg body wt.) or saline vehicle in a crossover design 2 days after prostaglandin-induced luteolysis. Treatmentxtime affected plasma glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol and IGF-1 concentrations. Glucose and cholesterol were increased after ergotamine. Triglycerides were elevated within 1 h after ergotamine, but were decreased 3 h after ergotamine treatment. Plasma IGF-1 decreased in response to ergotamine. Blood constituents were unchanged after treatment with saline. In Experiment 2, six cows received a single bolus intravenous injection of ergotamine (20 microg/kg body wt.) or saline vehicle in a crossover design 10 days after receiving norgestomet (6 mg) via subcutaneous ear implant. Treatmentxtime affected glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol and IGF-1 concentrations. Glucose and cholesterol were increased after ergotamine. Triglycerides were elevated 1 h after ergotamine and decreased 3-7 h after ergotamine. Plasma IGF-1 decreased after ergotamine treatment. Blood constituents were unresponsive to the saline vehicle. Results indicated ergotamine altered plasma metabolite and IGF-1 concentrations in cows. 相似文献

Adaptive resonance theory (ART) demonstrates how the brain learns to recognize and categorize vast amounts of information
by using top–down expectations and attentional focusing. ART 3, one member of the ART family, embeds the computational properties
of the chemical synapse in its search process, but it converges slowly and is lack of stability when being applied in pattern
recognition and analysis. To overcome these problems, Nitric Oxide (NO), which serves as a newly discovered retrograde messenger
in Long-Term Potentiation (LTP), is introduced in retrograde adaptive resonance theory (ReART) model presented in this paper.
In the presented model a novel search hypothesis is proposed to incorporate angle and amplitude information of an external
input vector to decide whether the input matches the long-term memory (LTM) weights of an active node or not, and the embedded
NO retrograde mechanism makes the search procedure a closed loop, which improves the stability and convergence speed of the
transmitter releasing mechanism in a synapse. To make the model more adaptive and practical, a forgetting mechanism is built
to improve the weights updating process. Experimental results indicate that the proposed ReART model achieves low error rate,
fast convergence and self-organizing weights regulation.

Purified plasma membrane vesicles isolated from R3230AC rat mammary tumors displayed carrier-mediated and stereospecific uptake. Uptake was shown to be proportional to protein concentration, sensitive to increasing osmolarity, and inhibited only by substrates entering by the same carrier. Carrier-mediated glucose uptake was inhibited rapidly by estradiol-17β and phloretin in a dose-dependent manner, whereas proline uptake was not affected by estradiol-17β. The data suggest that the inhibition of glucose by estradiol and phloretin, originally observed in whole cells, occurs by an interaction of the steroid with a component on the plasma membrane. In contrast, the lack of effects of estradiol on proline transport into vesicles implies that intracellular components may have mediated the estrogen-induced effects observed in whole cells. 相似文献

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes consist of many cup-shaped graphitic compartments termed as nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube cups (NCNCs). These as-synthesized graphitic nanocups from chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method were stacked in a head-to-tail fashion held only through noncovalent interactions. Individual NCNCs can be isolated out of their stacking structure through a series of chemical and physical separation processes. First, as-synthesized NCNCs were oxidized in a mixture of strong acids to introduce oxygen-containing defects on the graphitic walls. The oxidized NCNCs were then processed using high-intensity probe-tip sonication which effectively separated the stacked NCNCs into individual graphitic nanocups. Owing to their abundant oxygen and nitrogen surface functionalities, the resulted individual NCNCs are highly hydrophilic and can be effectively functionalized with gold nanoparticles (GNPs), which preferentially fit in the opening of the cups as cork stoppers. These graphitic nanocups corked with GNPs may find promising applications as nanoscale containers and drug carriers. 相似文献

Alcohol induced liver injury has been studied extensively. Using literature search and bioinformatics tools, the present study characterizes the genes involved in alcohol induced liver injury. The cellular and metabolic processes in which genes involved in alcohol induced liver injury are implicated are also discussed. The genes related to alcohol induced liver injury are also involved in affecting certain molecular functions and metabolism of drugs, besides being associated with diseases. In conclusion, the changes in regulation of genes implicated in alcohol induced liver injury apart from causing alcohol mediated hepatic dysfunction may affect other vital processes in the body. 相似文献

Endovascular stents have revolutionised the field of interventional cardiology. Despite their excellent clinical outcome complications associated with percutaneous stent implantation following the procedure have remained a major drawback in their widespread use. To overcome such limitations, a number of novel endovascular stents have emerged including a covered stent wrapped in a thin membrane sleeve. As well as prevention of complications associated with stenting, covered stents owing to their physical barrier are used as the treatment option of choice for trauma devices during emergency situations and to treat a number of pathological disease states. The aim of this review is to provide the reader with an overall objective outlook in the use of covered stents as a treatment option in a number of vascular complications and addresses their design and materials used in the manufacturing process. In addition, new strategies are highlighted and future prospects with the emergence of novel smart alloys for 3D scaffolds and the use of nanotechnology in the development of nanocomposite materials. 相似文献
