The species of cepheid mites (Acarida, Oribatida, Cepheidae) from Maghrebian soils are listed and taxonomically revised. The six species, including two new entities, one of which represents the new genus Tereticepheus , offer interesting data for a biogeographical discussion of faunal movements in the western Mediterranean area during the last 20 million years.  相似文献

Summary Using two different buffer systems and up to 6 different electrophoretic polyacrylamide gel concentrations, hidden enzymatic variability was investigated in samples of the rose aphid Macrosiphum rosae. MDH1, PGM1, SDH, EST and LAP were found to be polymorphic. No additional variation was observed by changing the test conditions compared to those of earlier investigations using starch gel electrophoresis.  相似文献

Allozyme variation in viviparid snails from the genus Mekongia in Thailand were examined across the different species, subspecies and geographical locations (river drainage systems). Using horizontal starch gel electrophoresis, 11 presumed allozyme loci (eight polymorphic) from eight enzyme systems were screened. Heterozygosity was moderately low (Hexp = 0.000–0.109, mean = 0.037). One population of Mekongia pongensis (Nong Khai) was monomorphic at all 11 examined loci in contrast to the other two populations, suggesting bottleneck within this population. Populations were more differentiated in the Mekongia sphaericula complex (FST = 0.587) than in either the Mekongia swainsoni complex (FST = 0.161) or M. pongensis species (FST = 0.073). Mekongia sphaericula sphaericula and Mekongia sphaericula extensa exhibited fixed allele differences at two loci, a high genetic distance (D = 0.265–0.300) and a potential polyphyletic relationship, suggesting two distinct lineages (species).  相似文献

The multicomponent oil gland secretion of Collohmannia gigantea, a middle-derivative mixonomatan oribatid mite, is demonstrated to possess alarm pheromonal and allomonal properties. Four components of the secretion, namely the monoterpenes neryl formate, neral, geranial and the aromatic 2-hydroxy- 6-methyl-benzaldehyde (2,6-HMBD), showed moderate to strong alarm pheromonal activity in adult mites. Naturally elicited response is due to neral (about 50% of the secretion) and probably 2,6-HMBD (only 5% of the secretion, but strong alarm pheromonal activity). This is the second report of an alarm pheromone in Oribatida. Tridecane and pentadecane (=the hydrocarbon fraction of the secretion) did not evoke evident behavioural reactions, and most likely serve as solvents and spreading agents for the pheromonal-active components. Alarm reactions were characterized by a short recognition phase (waving movements with legs I), followed by shrinking back and panic escape from the scent source. In addition, all six components of the oil gland secretion, including the hydrocarbons, exhibited strong allomonal properties against a model oribatid predator, the scydmaenid beetle, Euconnus (Tetramelus) oblongus. Considering the widespread semiochemical properties of oil gland secretions in astigmatid mites (=a highly derivative oribatid group), these results furnish evidence for a phylogenetically early origin of defensive and communicative roles of oil gland secretions in oribatids. These roles include alarm communication, defence and the production of anti-fungal compounds.  相似文献

Allozyme variation was examined in three diploid taxaChionographis japonica var.japonica, var.kurokamiana, andC. koidzumiana and three tetraploid taxaC. japonica var.kurohimensis, ssp.hisauchiana, and ssp.minoensis. Results show thatC. japonica var.kurokamiana is genetically closer toC. koidzumiana than to var.japonica. In the tetraploid taxa, fixed heterozygosities were found at several loci, and this supports the hypothesis that these taxa are allotetraploids. Furthermore, the tetraploid taxa have many unique alleles not found in the diploid taxa. This suggests that sufficient time has passed since the origin of tetraploids for new mutations to have been fixed.  相似文献

Synopsis Significant genic differentiation occurred in samples of a stream population of Goodea atripinnis(Goodeidae) from a 1 km segment of the Rio Teuchitlan, Jalisco, Mexico. The lack of obvious selection gradients and physical barriers to migration over such short distances suggests that stochastic factors (seasonal reductions in stream flow, behavior) are involved in the differentiation. 对吉林省中西部平原区进行土壤螨类群落调查,了解该区土壤螨类群落组成、分布及土地利用差异对土壤螨类群落结构的影响。共捕获土壤螨类96属16443只。研究结果显示:土壤螨类群落组成各类群空间分布的广狭与个体数量的多寡在吉林省中西部平原区未呈现出明显的一致性;中部平原区与西部平原区土壤螨类群落组成存在明显差异,气候和土壤差异是主导因素;不同土地利用类型生境螨类群落特征存在一定的差异,农业生产活动减少了土壤螨类类群数和个体密度,使螨类在土壤剖面不同土层间分布更加均匀;同时农业活动也减少了螨类的群落多样性。MGP分析能够反映人类干扰对甲螨群落结构的影响,其中MGPⅠ分析对不同土地利用条件下甲螨群落结构的季节变动更敏感。MI指数显示,农田和居民点的农业生产活动增加了中气门螨类r-选择类群的数量[动物学报51(3):401-412,2005]。  相似文献

Open-pollinated seeds were assayed for allozyme polymorphisms at 24 loci to assess genetic diversity and multilocous associations in 16 populations of Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook in the People's Republic of China. On average, the percentage of polymorphic loci was 88.0, the number of alleles per locus was 3.0, and the expected heterozygosity was 0.394. The distribution of genetic diversity was not correlated with the geographic and climatic variables of the populations. However, allele frequencies correlated linearly with the mean annual temperature of the populations at Mdh-1, Mdh-2, Mnr-2, Pgi-1, and Skdh-1 and with the altitude of the populations at Aph-4 and 6Pg-2. Of the total gene diversity 6% was attributed to among-population differentiation; 94% resided within populations. Two-locus gametic disequilibria were found in 15 of the 16 populations, and higher-order gametic disquilibria were significant in most populations. The gametic disequilibria did not correlate with geographic and climatic variables. The results suggest that population subdivision, founder effect, occurrence across diverse environments, a mating system dominated by inbreeding, and historical events from 2000 years of cultivation are contributing factors in the generation and maintenance of the multilocus genetic structure in this conifer.  相似文献

Amphitetranychus viennensis (Zacher) is a serious economic pest of various fruit trees. Due to its restricted geographic distribution in Asia and Europe, it is an important quarantine species in the North American countries. Despite its significance in agricultural damage and quarantine, the genetic diversity of this species has not been studied in detail. In this study, we determined the nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene and internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region of the nuclear ribosomal DNA in A. viennensis collected from various regions of Korea. Variations in the COI and ITS2 sequences of the Korean samples ranged up to 6.92 and 4.02 %, respectively. A sequence comparison showed that the Korean samples were divided into two groups, one comprising the Geoje and Jinju samples, and the other comprising all samples except for the Geoje/Jinju samples. In most samples, except for the Geoje/Jinju samples, variations in both COI and ITS2 sequences were less than 1.04 and 0.99 %, respectively. However, the variations between two groups were 6.23–6.92 % and 3.02–4.02 %, respectively. In addition, the phylogenic analysis performed with sequences in the GenBank database showed that the samples from Geoje/Jinju, which are located in the southern region of Korea, were most similar to the Japanese samples, but the others were most similar to those of China and Taiwan. Thus, our study suggests that two genetically different groups of A. viennensis exist in Korea.  相似文献

The candy-stripe spider, Enoplognatha ovata, exhibits a striking color polymorphism comprising three morphs. A number of lines of evidence strongly suggest that this polymorphism is maintained by natural selection: its presence in a sister species, E. latimana; the physical nature of the variation; the virtual lack of monomorphic populations; the highly consistent rank-order of morphs within populations; and the presence of large-scale clines associated with climatic variables. However, the absence of selection is equally strongly suggested by very local surveys of morph frequencies over space and time, perturbation experiments, and a variance in morph frequency between populations that is virtually independent of spatial scale. In addition, local spatial patterns in one study site (Nidderdale, Yorkshire, England) have been explained in terms of intermittent drift over half a century ago, a hypothesis supported here by the distributions of four other genetic markers (two allozyme and two visible polymorphisms). A heuristic model is suggested that reconciles these apparently contradictory messages regarding the importance of drift and selection in this system. It is proposed that when allele frequencies of the color morph redimita lie between approximately 0.05 and 0.3, the deltaq on q plot is very shallow, so that within this region, where the majority of populations lie, selection is weak and drift is the major force determining local morph frequencies. However, outside this range of frequencies, powerful selection acts to protect the polymorphism. This model may apply to polymorphisms in other species and explain why evidence of selection in natural populations is often elusive.  相似文献

RAPD markers were used to measure the genetic diversity of 119 individuals of Ixodes ricinus collected from Lithuania and Norway. The samples were analysed within and also between the populations. We analysed 74 loci in each of 6 populations. Our results show high levels of diversity within the populations. The percentage of polymorphic loci of the six analysed populations: Birzai, Vilnius, Kretinga, Tjore, Kjosvik and Odderoya were 68.9%, 58.1%, 78.38%, 62.2%, 44.6% and 68.9%, respectively. The percentage of polymorphic loci in the Lithuanian populations was 93.2%, and in the Norwegian populations 81.08%. The genetic distance ranged from 0.019 to 0.079 within Norwegian populations and from 0.005 to 0.0967 within Lithuanian populations and between the countries from 0.022 to 0.146. The genetic variation of I. ricinus among Norwegian populations was lower than among Lithuanian populations. The highest part of genetic variation in I. ricinus ticks depends on variation within Kretinga (Lithuania) and Odderoya (Norway) populations situated in coastal areas where many migratory and sea birds are aggregated.  相似文献

This work represents the most extensive genetic study of the grey wolf (Canis lupus Linnaeus, 1758) in Arabia and the first considering genetic data from multiple locations within Saudi Arabia. Previous suggestion of the occurrence of two subspecies of wolves in Arabia is not supported by this study. The genetic evidence suggests that the wolves of Saudi Arabia are genetically variable and more closely related to the Eurasian wolf Canis lupus group (dog included) than to the Indian wolf C. l. pallipes. The genetic diversity observed for C. lupus in Saudi Arabia indicates that the subspecific status C. l. arabs should be retained for the Arabian wolf. What remains unclear is the degree to which genetic introgression from domestic dogs has influenced the composition and integrity of C. lupus in Saudi Arabia.  相似文献

Coelomactra antiquata is a commercially exploited bivalve, and its populations have been severely declining in the coast of China during the last two decades. In order to provide guidelines for conservation strategies and management programs, four populations of C. antiquata, representing the most important populations in China, were analysed morphologically and genetically to reveal the genetic structure by using 7 polymorphic allozyme loci and 12 morphological variables. The mean allele richness ranged from 2.79 to 3.53, while the mean heterozygosity ranged from 0.326 to 0.519. All genetic distance metrics revealed high level of genetic differentiation between the three northern populations and one southern population. The marked genetic differentiation can be explained by the freshwater outflow of Yangtze River and upwelling of Zhejiang province. The morphological analyses were in accordance with the allozyme data, which also disclosed a high degree of differentiation between the northern and southern populations. The results obtained in this study indicate that the northern and southern populations in C. antiquata should be treated as separate units for conservation management.  相似文献

The Lampropholis delicata complex consists of three closely related species, which have very different habitat requirements and geographic distributions. Percentage polymorphism and average heterozygosity per population are lowest in the species with the narrowest habitat requirements. Genetic differentiation between populations is also lowest in this species, which had a very limited and almost continuous distribution. For one species, which occurs in a very wide range of habitats, both natural and disturbed, genetic variability is compared between samples from disturbed and undisturbed habitats. Average heterozygosity is significantly lower in samples from disturbed than in those from undisturbed sites.  相似文献

Twenty-one highly variable microsatellite loci were used to investigate the genetic diversity and variation of Odontobutis potamophila in China. A total of 160 samples from five wild populations (Dangtu, Sheyang, Yuyao, Minjiang and Donxishan) were genotyped. All of the 21 microsatellite loci tested in this study showed polymorphism. The number of allele per locus ranged from 5.05 to 9.90. Locus 87a of Minjiang population had a 259-bp characteristic allele. The average observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.33 to 0.62 and from 0.40 to 0.70, respectively. The pair-wise FST tests and NJ trees of the five O. potamophlia populations revealed that Dangtu, Sheyang, Yuyao and Dongxishan were genetically close to one another and distinct from Minjiang. Far genetic distances were observed among populations from distant geographical areas. This result provided guide for the use of O. potamophila breeds and the protection of the species.  相似文献

The diurnal and seasonal variation of soil respiration (SR) and their driving environmental factors were studied in a maize ecosystem during the growing season 2005. The diurnal variation of SR showed asymmetric patterns, with the minimum occurring around early morning and the maximum around 13:00 h. SR fluctuated greatly during the growing season. The mean SR rate was 3.16 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1, with a maximum of 4.87 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1 on July 28 and a minimum of 1.32 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1 on May 4. During the diurnal variation of SR, there was a significant exponential relationship between SR and soil temperature (T) at 10 cm depth: . At a seasonal scale, the coefficient α and β fluctuated because the biomass (B) increased α, and the net primary productivity (NPP) of maize markedly increased β of the exponential equation. Based on this, we developed the equation to estimate the magnitude of SR and to simulate its temporal variation during the growth season of maize. Most of the temporal variability (93%) in SR could be explained by the variations in soil temperature, biomass and NPP of maize. This model clearly demonstrated that soil temperature, biomass and NPP of maize combined to drive the seasonal variation of SR during the growing season. However, only taking into account the influence of soil temperature on SR, an exponential equation over- or underestimated the magnitude of SR and resulted in an erroneous representation of the seasonal variation in SR. Our results highlighted the importance of biotic factors for the estimation of SR during the growing season. It is suggested that the models of SR on agricultural sites should not only take into account the influence of soil temperature, but also incorporate biotic factors as they affect SR during the growing season.  相似文献

In a greenhouse experiment nine current Australian cultivars of pea were grown to flowering time under five levels of soil boron (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg kg–1) applied to the soil. This study was conducted to identify the genetic range in tolerance to boron within the group and to identify specific responses which may be utilised as selection criteria in a breeding program. Significant differences in response to increasing levels of boron were found between cultivars for dry-weight yield, and boron concentrations were lowest in shoots of the most tolerant cultivars. Of the other parameters measured, emergence was not affected but plant height and the number of nodes were reduced and the severity of symptom expression increased at the higher boron treatments. Symptom expression was the most efficient observation for predicting the response of cultivars, as determined by dry-weight yield and concentration of boron in shoots, and it was found that the correlation coefficients between symptoms and the latter two measurements were r=–0.78 (p<0.01) and r=0.81 (p<0.01), respectively. Early Dun, Dundale, Alma and Maitland were the more tolerant of the cultivars and these happen to be the most widely grown cultivars in southern Australia.  相似文献

Genetic variation in the mitochondrial (mt) 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene was examined for the American dog tick, Dermacentor variabilis (Say, 1821). Nine different haplotypes were detected among 369 adult D. variabilis collected from four localities in Canada. There were eight variable nucleotide positions in the 404 bp sequence alignment. Individuals of haplotype 1 occurred at frequency of >75% at all localities. Five haplotypes were detected at only one of the four localities. High haplotype diversity and low nucleotide diversity, combined with significantly negative Fs values for ticks at three localities, suggest a recent population expansion. Genetic differences were found between populations at different localities, but a Mantel regression analysis revealed no association between genetic differences and geographical distances. There was also no association between tick haplotype and the prevalence of the bacterium, Rickettsia montanensis Weiss and Moulder, 1984, in D. variabilis among localities or on opposite sides of Blackstrap Lake (Saskatchewan). The 16S rDNA haplotypes from Canadian populations of D. variabilis formed a clade with those from the eastern and central U.S.A., to the exclusion of D. variabilis from geographically isolated populations in the western U.S.A. Although sample sizes for D. variabilis in the eastern U.S.A. are small, there may be genetic divergence between populations in Canada and those in the eastern U.S.A., which may have implications for studies on the pathogenic agents transmitted by D. variabilis to its hosts.  相似文献

Summary Six population samples of the South American cricetid rodent Akodon dolores were collected at the same site at six-month intervals over a three year period. Changes in density were detected. Seven out of 18 loci analyzed by means of starch gel electrophoresis were polymorphic. Only two of these loci (Est-4 and G6pdh) showed statistically significant variation in allele frequencies following a seasonal pattern. There was no correlation between allele frequencies and population density. When animals were grouped into two classes according to body weight, a clear difference in allele distribution at the Est-4 and G6pdh loci was observed between individuals 39 g or less and those heavier than 39 g. As the first group comprises predominantly younger animals, the data indicate that changes in the age-structure of population, rather than density variations, are responsible for the cyclic pattern of allele frequencies fluctuations.  相似文献

Rare plant species can be divided into naturally, ‘old rare’ species and anthropogenically, ‘new rare’ species. Many recent studies explored genetic diversity of ‘new rare’ species. Less is, however, known about genetic diversity of ‘old rare’ species. We examined isozyme genetic variability of 20 populations of an ‘old rare’ plant species, Ligularia sibirica (Asteraceae) in the Czech and Slovak Republic. It is a long-lived perennial herb with mixed-mating breeding system, widely distributed from East Asia to European Russia, with few isolated relict populations in the remaining part of Europe.The results showed high genetic diversity within populations (80.8%) and a low level of genetic differentiation (FST = 0.179). Genetic distance between populations correlated significantly with geographic distance. There was also a significant positive correlation between genetic diversity and population size. This is probably caused by destruction of habitats in last centuries and subsequent decrease of population size. Patterns of genetic diversity suggest that the recent distribution is a result of stepwise postglacial migration of the species and subsequent natural fragmentation.We conclude that L. sibirica populations preserve high levels of genetic diversity and are not yet threatened by genetic factors. However, this may change if changes in habitat conditions continue.  相似文献
