Comparison of the fatty acids in Baltic herring and available plankton feed   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Triglycerides and phospholipids dominate in Baltic herring flesh lipids throughout the plankton growth season though at the same time plankton species and their lipids vary considerably. Wax esters and fatty alcohols do not exist in significant amounts in Baltic herring flesh or plankton. Saturated fatty acids exist in equal proportions in herring and plankton lipids whereas monoenoic acids are more dominant in herring and polyunsaturated acids in plankton lipids, respectively. The component alkyl chains are similar in both fish and plankton fatty acids, thus suggesting the planktonic origin. During the period of abundant availability of plankton the changes in the fatty acids of the herring depot fat are related to the changes in the plankton lipid composition.  相似文献

由于鱼油资源短缺, 植物油在水产饲料中广泛使用。然而, 随之而来的鱼体脂肪异常沉积等问题也日益突出, 严重危害养殖鱼类健康。脂肪的沉积是一个复杂的过程, 主要包括脂肪的合成、转运和分解。到目前为止, 在鱼类中已经进行了大量关于植物油替代鱼油影响脂肪沉积的研究。但是, 这些研究主要集中于脂肪的合成和分解, 有关脂肪转运的研究十分缺乏。脂肪转运不仅是影响组织脂肪沉积的重要因素, 而且在机体脂稳态和能量平衡中起着重要作用。因此综述了鱼类脂蛋白的种类和组成, 鱼类对脂肪和脂肪酸的转运, 营养因素对脂肪和脂肪酸转运的影响, 指出了脂类转运研究的重要性和紧迫性, 并且提出了未来需要努力的方向。  相似文献

The seasonal variations in the total lipid content, lipid class composition, fatty acid composition, and fatty alcohol composition of Meganyctiphanes norvegica (M. Sars), Thysanoessa inermis (Kr?yer), and T. raschii (M. Sars) have been examined. The total lipid content was highest in the autumn and early winter months and lowest in the spring. In M. norvegica, triacylglycerols served as the only depot lipids, whereas in T. inermis and T. raschii triacylglycerols, wax esters, and glycerophospholipids varied in proportion to the total lipid content. This suggests that glycerophospholipids, as well as wax esters and triacylglycerols, constitute depot lipids in these species. Wax esters and glycerophospholipids were the dominating depot lipids in T. inermis, whereas triacylglycerols and glycerophospholipids were most important in T. raschii. Results suggest that non-depot glycerophospholipids may constitute 3.5-4.5% of the dry weight of the three species of krill examined. T. inermis and T. raschii, from the same catches, had very similar fatty acid compositions for each of the major lipid classes, with the exception of a few minor fatty acids. The major lipid classes in all three species showed complex seasonal variations in the content of the fatty acids that typically reflect the diet, particularly in the case of the triacylglycerols. The results suggest that all the species examined are more herbivorous during the summer than during the autumn and winter. M. norvegica seemed to be significantly more carnivorous than the two Thysanoessa species. The degree of incorporation of individual fatty acids from the diet is probably specific for each lipid class in each krill species. The proportion of polyenoic fatty acids in the glycerophospholipids and the proportion of monoenoic fatty acids in the wax esters may be of importance for the temperature adaptation of T. inermis and T. raschii.  相似文献

Proteomic approaches on lipid bodies have led to the identification of proteins associated with this compartment, showing that, rather than the inert fat depot, lipid droplets appear as complex dynamic organelles with roles in metabolism control and cell signaling. We focused our investigations on caleosin [ Arabidopsis thaliana caleosin 1 (AtClo1)], a minor protein of the Arabidopsis thaliana seed lipid body. AtClo1 shares an original triblock structure, which confers to the protein the capacity to insert at the lipid body surface. In addition, AtClo1 possesses a calcium-binding domain. The study of plants deficient in caleosin revealed its involvement in storage lipid degradation during seed germination. Using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a heterologous expression system, we investigated the potential role of AtClo1 in lipid body biogenesis and filling. The green fluorescent protein-tagged protein was correctly targeted to lipid bodies. We observed an increase in the number and size of lipid bodies. Moreover, transformed yeasts accumulated more fatty acids (+46.6%). We confirmed that this excess of fatty acids was due to overaccumulation of lipid body neutral lipids, triacylglycerols and steryl esters. We showed that the original intrinsic properties of AtClo1 protein were sufficient to generate a functional lipid body membrane and to promote overaccumulation of storage lipids in yeast oil bodies.  相似文献

Juvenile soft-shelled turtles (Pelodiscus sinensis) were fed 7 diets containing 8% of lard, soybean oil, olive oil, menhaden fish oil, or mixtures of 1 to 1 ratio of fish oil and lard, soybean oil, olive oil for 10 weeks. Growth and muscle proximate compositions of the turtles were not affected by different dietary treatments (p>0.05). Fatty acid profiles in muscle polar lipids, muscle non-polar lipids, and liver polar lipids reflected the fatty acid composition of dietary lipid source. Turtles fed diets containing fish oil generally contained significantly higher (p<0.05) proportion of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) in both polar and non-polar lipids of muscle and polar fraction of liver lipids than those fed other oils. Non-polar fraction of liver lipids from all groups of turtles contained less than 1% of HUFA. All turtles contained relatively high proportions of oleic acid in their lipids regardless of the dietary lipid source. Further, lipid peroxidation in both muscle tissue and liver microsomes of turtles fed fish oil as the sole lipid source was greater (p<0.05) than those fed fish oil-free diets. Turtles fed olive oil as the sole lipid source had the lowest lipid peroxidation rate among all dietary groups. The results indicate that dietary n-3 HUFA may not be crucial for optimal growth of soft-shelled turtles although they may be used for metabolic purpose. Further, high level of dietary HUFA not only increases the HUFA content in turtle tissues, but also enhances the susceptibility of these tissues to lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

Fatty acids from total lipids and polar lipids in cultured rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) raised in seawater (SW) and freshwater (FW) were identified and quantified from the muscle samples in January, April, and July. The highest total lipid and polar lipid amounts were found in April. July contents of total lipids were low, but percent of the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) was high in SW and FW environment (particularly n-3 PUFAs). Variety of 17 fatty acids was identified by GC-FID after transmethylation. The predominant fatty acids in rainbow trout from SW and FW were: docosahexaenoic acid among n-3 PUFAs, palmitic acid among saturated fatty acids (SFAs), and oleic acid among monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). Appreciably higher n-3/n-6 ratio was found in total lipids in April (6.40, FW fish) and in polar lipids in July (18.76; SW fish). High n-3/n-6 ratio in total lipids and polar lipids of rainbow trout from SW and FW, besides beneficial n-3/n-6 ratio in the commercial fish food, could be characteristic for the local environmental conditions (Croatia).  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of lipids isolated from the depot fat, stomach contents, and proventricular oil of adult and chick Puffinus tenuirostris (Temminck) has been analysed. The diet of both adults and chicks is almost exclusively derived from the euphausiid Nyctiphanes australis Sars, and an attempt was made to determine whether dietary lipid affects the composition of depot fat, and whether individual fatty acids in the stomachs and proventricular oil can be used as markers for the origin of the diet. An apparent selectivity in the deposition of fatty acids in the fat depots can be explained by the conversion of fatty alcohols, derived from the euphausiid wax ester, into fatty acids of equivalent chain length and unsaturation. Hexadecadienoic acid appeared to be the only possible marker fatty acid from the euphausiid, but wide variations in its level limits its usefulness as a reliable index of the diet of Puffinus tenuirostris.  相似文献

Four groups of adult sea bass were given diets containing about 8% of one of four different oils having a different fatty acid composition: linseed oil, grape-seed oil, containing high amounts of linolenic and linoleic acids respectively, hydrogenated coconut oil, mainly containing saturated fatty acids, and cod liver oil which was considered as reference. Total lipid, phospholipid and polar lipid contents of the brain of the different groups of sea bass were unaffected. The fatty acid composition of the brain agreed with the dietary history of sea bass: thus adult sea bass brain is capable of incorporating dietary fatty acids. Sea bass brain and structural lipids of the liver appeared to be similarly sensitive to the dietary input in contrast with mammalian brain which was reported to be more resistant than other tissues. The more striking dietary effect on liver total lipid fatty acid composition is ascribed to the incorporation of dietary fatty acids in depot fats.  相似文献

Matured females of two Lake Baikal endemic fish species, Comephorus baicalensis and Comephorus dybowski, have been investigated for lipid of the whole body and specific tissues (liver, muscles, ovaries), phospholipid classes and fatty acids of neutral and polar lipids. Total lipid in the body (38.9% fresh weight), liver (23.5%) and muscles (14.5%) of C. baicalensis were greater than those of C. dybowski (4.7, 8.7 and 2.6%, respectively); only their ovaries were similar (5.3 and 5.6% lipid, respectively). In both species, phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine were the major phospholipids, ranging from 60.7 to 75.1% of total phospholipid and 14.5–25.7%, respectively. In most cases, monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) were the major fatty acid group in C. baicalensis, whereas polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) were the major group in C. dybowski. The MUFA 18:1(n-9) prevailed over other fatty acids in C. baicalensis and varied from 19% in polar lipids of muscles to 56.1% in neutral lipids of muscles. In polar lipid of C. dybowski, the PUFA 22:6(n-3) prevailed over other fatty acids in muscles and ovaries, while 16:0 dominated polar liver lipids and neutral lipids of all tissues. Other major fatty acids included 16:1(n-7), 18:1(n-7), and 20:5(n-3). Values of the (n-3)/(n-6) fatty acid ratio for neutral lipids of C. baicalensis (0.5–0.9) are well below the range of values characteristic either for marine or freshwater fish, while these values for polar lipids (1.6–1.8) are in the range typical of freshwater fish. Neutral lipid fatty acid ratios in C. dybowski (2.5–3.1) allow it to be assigned to freshwater fish, but polar lipids (2.8–3.7) leave it intermediary between freshwater and marine fish.  相似文献

Dietary lipids containing equal portions of soybean oil and fish oil were fed to juvenile Chinese soft-shelled turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis, at supplementation level of 0 to 15% for 8 weeks. Tissue fat contents of turtles increased when dietary lipid concentration increased. Fatty acid profiles for turtles fed diets supplemented with 6% or higher levels of lipids were similar to those in dietary lipids. On absolute value basis, fatty acids of 14-, 16-, and 18-carbons in muscle of turtles fed diet without lipid supplementation were higher than those in the initial turtle muscle. Among them, C16:1 and C18:1 was approximately 4 and 2 fold higher, respectively, than that of the initial turtles. By contrast, absolute amounts of C20:5 and C22:6 in muscle of turtles fed diet without lipid supplementation were slightly less than those in the initial turtles. For turtles fed lipid supplemented diets, tissue C20:5 and C22:6, however, increased when dietary lipid level increased. These results suggest that soft-shelled turtles are capable of synthesizing fatty acids up to 18 carbons from other nutrients and that they may have limited or no ability to synthesize highly unsaturated fatty acids. Lipid peroxidation measured by thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances in tissues of turtles fed 12% and 15% lipids was greater (p<0.05) than that in turtles fed 3% to 9% lipids. This could be due to high lipid and unsaturated fatty acid content in these tissues. On lipid basis, lipid peroxidation in turtles fed diet without lipid supplementation was the highest among all groups suggesting the existence of antioxidant factors in the dietary lipids.  相似文献

A new opportunistic annelid (Ophryotrocha cyclops) discovered on benthic substrates underneath finfish aquaculture sites in Newfoundland (NL) may be involved in the remediation of organic wastes. At those aquaculture sites, bacterial mats and O. cyclops often coexist and are used as indicators of organic enrichment. Little is known on the trophic strategies used by these annelids, including whether they might consume bacteria or other aquaculture-derived wastes. We studied the lipid and fatty acid composition of the annelids and their potential food sources (degraded flocculent organic matter, fresh fish pellets and bacterial mats) to investigate feeding relationships in these habitats and compared the lipid and fatty acid composition of annelids before and after starvation. Fish pellets were rich in lipids, mainly terrestrially derived C18 fatty acids (18:1ω9, 18:2ω6, 18:3ω3), while bacterial samples were mainly composed of ω7 fatty acids, and flocculent matter appeared to be a mixture of fresh and degrading fish pellets, feces and bacteria. Ophryotrocha cyclops did not appear to store excessive amounts of lipids (13%) but showed a high concentration of ω3 and ω6 fatty acids, as well as a high proportion of the main fatty acids contained in fresh fish pellets and bacterial mats. The dorvilleids and all potential food sources differed significantly in their lipid and fatty acid composition. Interestingly, while all food sources contained low proportions of 20:5ω3 and 20:2ω6, the annelids showed high concentrations of these two fatty acids, along with 20:4ω6. A starvation period of 13 days did not result in a major decrease in total lipid content; however, microscopic observations revealed that very few visible lipid droplets remained in the gut epithelium after three months of starvation. Ophryotrocha cyclops appears well adapted to extreme environments and may rely on lipid-rich organic matter for survival and dispersal in cold environments.  相似文献

Lipid content and fatty acid composition were determined in three species of edible fish caught in Senegalese waters during the upwelling season (January, 1993). Sardinella maderensis and Sardinella aurita are fat fish containing more than 5% (fresh wt.) of lipids, whereas Cephalopholis taeniops is a lean fish with approximately 1% of lipids. Skin, liver and muscle were studied for each fish species. About 40 fatty acids were identified by GC and GC/MS as methyl esters and N-acyl pyrrolidides. Palmitic acid was the main acid in the muscle and skin of all samples studied (20-33% of total fatty acids). Oleic acid was the main fatty acid in the liver of S. maderensis (27.2%+/-0.1) and S. aurita (44.7%+/-0.1). Arachidonic acid was a minor component in all samples. The flesh (muscle) of the three fish species contained high concentrations of omega3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), ranging from 16.0 to 29.1% and including 20:5 omega3 (eicosapentaenoic acid, EPA) and 22:6 omega3 (docosahexaenoic acid, DHA) acids as major components. These two acids together accounted for 24.7%+/-0.1 and 12.9%+/-0.1 of total acids in the skin of S. maderensis and S. aurita, respectively. The percentages of PUFA found in the fish studied were very similar to those in fish used commercially as sources of PUFA. Muscle sterols, which accounted for 9-11% of total lipids, consisted mainly of cholesterol (up to 97% of total sterols).  相似文献

The primary aim of the present study was to compare the contents of total lipid, lipid classes and their associated fatty acids in muscle and liver of wild and one-year captive black seabream (Spondyliosoma cantharus) adults, in order to elucidate the lipid and fatty acids requirements of this fish species of potential interest for aquaculture. The total lipid contents (TL) of muscle and liver of the captive fish were 2.5-fold greater than those of the wild fish. In consequence, contents of triacylglycerols were much higher in tissues of the captive fish. Distribution of fatty acids in total lipids and lipid classes of muscle and liver was also different between both groups of fish. For instance, percentages of 20:4n−6, 20:5n−6 and 22:6n−3 were considerably higher in the wild fish, whereas 18:1, 20:1, and 22:1n−9 as well as 18:2n−6 and 20:5n−3 were more abundant in the captive fish. These results suggest that the lipid composition of the commercial diet supplied to the captive black seabream differed greatly from that of the diet consumed by the fish in the wild, which hypothetically contains the desirable composition for the lipid nutrition of this fish species. Despite the good growth and survival achieved by the black seabream after one year in captivity, the significant accumulation of lipids and the imbalance of essential fatty acids in their muscle and livers, together with the absence of spawning, suggest that future research on the lipid requirements of this omnivorous species is necessary in order to establish whether the administration of currently available aquaculture formulated feeds is adequate for good black seabream performance and reproduction.  相似文献

Total lipids (TL), lipid classes, and their associated fatty acids from muscle and liver of captive and wild mature female broodstocks were investigated in order to estimate the fatty acid requirements of white seabream (Diplodus sargus). The results showed that the percentage of triacylglycerol was higher in liver and muscle of captive fish than in wild fish. The distribution of phospholipid classes in liver and muscle of both fish groups was similar, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol being the predominant lipid classes. The general pattern of fatty acid distribution in total lipid of liver and muscle from captive and wild fish was similar. However, the relative percentage of specific fatty acids differed in captive and wild fish. The most noteworthy difference was the lower proportion of arachidonic acid (20:4n-6, AA) and the higher proportion of eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3, EPA) in liver and muscle of captive fish with respect to those of wild fish. The proportion of docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3, DHA) did not differ between the two fish groups. The differences in EPA and AA proportions between captive and wild fish implied that captive fish presented a higher EPA/AA ratio and a lower DHA/EPA ratio than wild fish. In general terms, in both liver and muscle, the differences in fatty acid composition observed for TL were extended to all lipid classes. The results suggest that the different AA, EPA and DHA proportions in liver and muscle between captive and wild broodstocks are attributed to different levels of these fatty acids in broodstock diets.  相似文献

The composition of tissue and membrane fatty acids in ectothermic vertebrates is influenced by both temperature acclimation and diets. If such change in body lipid composition and thermal physiology were linked, a diet-induced change in body lipid composition should result in a change in thermal physiology. We therefore investigated whether the selected body temperature of the agamid lizardAmphibolurus nuchalis (body mass 20 g) is influenced by the lipid composition of dietary fatty acids and whether diet-induced changes in thermal physiology are correlated with changes in body lipid composition. The selected body temperature in two groups of lizards was indistinguishable before dietary treatments. The selected body temperature in lizards after 3 weeks on a diet rich in saturated fatty acids rose by 2.1 °C (photophase) and 3.3 °C (scotophase), whereas the body temperature of lizards on a diet rich in unsaturated fatty acids fell by 1.5 °C (photophase) and 2.0 °C (scotophase). Significant diet-induced differences were observed in the fatty acid composition of depot fat, liver and muscle. The hepatic fatty acid metabolism was investigated in rats stressed by selenium deficiency and enhanced fish oil intake. Changes in the composition of lipids, peroxides, and fatty acids were studied in the liver of rats fed either a Sedeficient (8 microg Se/kg) or a Se-adequate (300 microg Se/kg) diet, both rich in n-3 fatty acid-containing fish oil (100 g/kg diet) and vitamin E (146 mg alpha-tocopherol/kg diet). The two diets were identical except for their Se content. Se deficiency led to a decrease in hair coat density and quality as well as to changes in liver lipids, individual lipid fractions and phospholipid fatty acid composition of the liver. The low Se status did reduce total and reduced glutathione in the liver but did not affect the hepatic malondialdehyde level. In liver phospholipids (PL), Se deficiency significantly reduced levels of palmitic acid [16:0], fatty acids of the n-3 series such as DHA [22:6 n-3], and other long-chain polyunsaturates C-20-C-22, but increased n-6 fatty acids such as linoleic acid (LA) [18:2 n-6]. Thus, the conversion of LA to arachidonic acid was reduced and the ratio of n-6/n-3 fatty acids was increased. As in liver PL, an increase in the n-6/n-3 ratio was also observed in the mucosal total fatty acids of the small intestine. These results suggest that in rats with adequate vitamin E and enhanced fish oil intake, Se deficiency affects the lipid concentration and fatty acid composition in the liver. The changes may be related to the decreased levels of selenoenzymes with antioxidative functions. Possible effects of Se on absorption, storage and desaturation of fatty acids were also discussed.  相似文献

Crude lipid and fatty acid composition from liver, intestine, roe, milt and flesh of spawning and non-spawning Pacific herring (Clupea harengus pallasi) were examined to determine the relative effects of spawning on the nutritional value of herring. Depletion of lipid due to spawning condition was significant (P < 0.01) in all organ tissues and flesh of spawning herring. The lipid content ranged from an average of 1.9 to 3.4% (wet weight basis) in different organ tissues of spawning herring, to 10.5 to 16% in non-spawning fish. The fatty acid profile exhibited many differences in the relative distribution of individual fatty acids among organ tissues and between the two fish groups. Oleic acid (C18:1n-9), a major monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) found in all tissue lipids, decreased significantly (P < 0.01) in spawning fish. The two monoenes, C20:1n-9 and C22:1n-11, occurred at high concentrations in the flesh but at only minor proportion in the digestive organs and gonads. Spawning herring also had significantly (P < 0.01) higher polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) content in the organ tissues, particularly in the milt and ovary, with docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3, DHA) having the greatest proportion. Among the n-6 fatty acids, only C18:2n-6 and C20:4n-6 occurred at notable amounts and were present in higher proportions in spawning fish. We concluded that although relatively higher n-3 fatty acid content was found in the organ lipids of spawning herring, they are not an energy-dense prey food source due to the fact that both flesh and gonads contain a very low amount of lipid.  相似文献

Rats were fed diets devoid of (n-3) fatty acids (olive oil supplementation) or high in (n-3) fatty acids (fish oil supplementation) for a period of 10 days. In spleen lymphocytes and liver microsomes derived from animals fed fish oil diets, relatively high levels of (n-3) eicosapentaenoic (20:5), docosapentaenoic (22:5) and docosahexaenoic acids (22:6) were obtained compared to minimal levels when fed the olive oil diet. When the average lipid motional properties were examined by measuring the fluorescence anisotropy of diphenylhexatriene, no significant different was found between intact liver microsomes from animals fed the two diets. However, when lipid motion was examined in vesicles of phosphatidylcholine, isolated from the microsomes from fish oil fed animals (21.4% (n-3) fatty acids), the fluorescence anisotropy was significantly less than the corresponding phosphatidylcholine from olive oil fed animals (5.6% (n-3) fatty acids), indicating a more disordered or fluid bilayer in the presence of higher levels of (n-3) fatty acids. Phosphatidylethanolamine (n-3) fatty acids were also elevated after fish oil supplementation (41.3% of total fatty acids), compared to the level after olive oil supplementation (21.4%). The major effect of the fish oil supplementation was a replacement of (n-6) arachidonic acid by the (n-3) fatty acids and when this was 'modeled', using liposomes of synthetic lipids, 1-palmitoyl-2-arachidonyl(n-6) or docosahexaenoyl(n-3)-phosphatidylcholine, significant differences in lipid motional properties were found, with the docosahexaenoate conferring a more disordered or fluid lipid environment. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on lipid and fatty acid metabolism in Atlantic salmon. The overall objective being to test the hypotheses that CLA has beneficial effects in salmon including growth enhancement, improved flesh quality through decreased adiposity and lipid deposition thereby minimising detrimental effects of feeding high fat diets, and increased nutritional quality through increased levels of beneficial fatty acids including n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) and CLA itself. Salmon smolts were fed diets containing two levels of fish oil (low, approximately 18% and high, approximately 34%) containing three levels of CLA (a 1:1 mixture of 9-cis,trans-11 and trans-10,cis-12. at 0, 1 and 2% of diet) for 3 months and the effects on growth performance, liver and muscle (flesh) lipid contents and class compositions, and fatty acid compositions determined. The diets were also specifically formulated to investigate whether the effects of CLA, if any, were more dependent upon absolute content of CLA in the diet (as percentage of total diet) or the relative level of CLA to other fatty acids. Dietary CLA in salmon smolts had no effect on growth parameters or biometric parameters. However, there was a clear trend of increased total lipid and triacylglycerol contents in both liver and flesh in fish fed CLA, particularly in fish fed the high oil diets. Finally, CLA was incorporated into tissue lipids, with levels in flesh being 2-fold higher than in liver, but importantly, incorporation in liver was at the expense of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids whereas in flesh it was at the expense of n-3HUFA.  相似文献
