The genus Ctenopyge is known mainly from disarticulated sclerites and from rare complete specimens flattened in shales. Hitherto, very few specimens have been found preserved intact and in three dimensions. In a recently discovered fauna, however, in the Peltura minor Subzone in Västergötland, central Sweden, there occur several species of Ctenopyge , of which many are complete and superbly preserved; moreover they occur at all stages of growth. Of these the abundant Ctenopyge ( Eoctenopyge ) angusta Westergård, 1922 is described and reconstructed here as an adult, and the entire ontogeny is documented for all post–protaspid growth stages. Many characters typical of the adult, such as the long genal spines and the caudal spine, develop very early in ontogeny, and the relative dimensions of the cranidium do not greatly change during growth. Macropleural spines, however, develop later. The transitory pygidium, relatively large and shield–shaped in the early meraspid, later becomes very small as the ten thoracic segments are liberated; a median spine develops on the last thoracic segment only at the holaspid stage. Instar groupings can be clearly distinguished for the early stages. Recurrent associations of sclerites are interpreted as moulting configurations. As reconstructed, the genal spines are horizontal and parallel with the extended thorax; an adaptation which presumably allowed the trilobite to rest on the sea floor.  相似文献

为阐明长角血蜱Haemaphysalis longicornis孤雌生殖种群的哈氏器结构及发育特征, 用扫描电镜对其各虫期哈氏器进行了观察, 分析了血餐对哈氏器发育的影响。结果表明: 该种群幼蜱、 若蜱和成蜱哈氏器形态结构基本相同, 均由前窝和后囊构成。幼蜱前窝感毛6根, 位于同一基盘; 若蜱和成蜱哈氏器相似, 前窝感毛7根, 其中1根孔毛位于外侧基盘, 另6根感毛位于内侧基盘。各虫期饱血后哈氏器大小均比饥饿状态下显著增大(P<0.05)。幼蜱前窝与后囊面积比值与若蜱相比无显著差异(P>0.05), 若蜱前窝与后囊面积比值与成蜱相比差异显著(P<0.05)。各虫期哈氏器均在发育, 且血餐对哈氏器发育有重要影响。幼蜱至若蜱期哈氏器前窝与后囊的发育速度相似, 若蜱至成蜱期哈氏器前窝发育快于后囊。本研究结果在一定程度上揭示了孤雌生殖长角血蜱的哈氏器发育规律。  相似文献

Abstract— Total lipid and the activity of five enzymes closely related to the generation of NADPH have been measured in the anterior horn region and dorsal columns of rabbit spinal cord during the period of rapid myelination. Lipid deposition progressed to a much greater extent in the dorsal columns than in the anterior horn region; however, the age at which one-half of the total adult level of lipid accumulated in both regions was the same, i.e. 19-20 days after birth. During the first 15 days of postnatal development of the dorsal columns, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase changed in parallel with lipid content; however, in the anterior horn region changes in lipid were not accompanied by increases in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. In contrast to changes in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, the activity of malic enzyme increased in the anterior horn region but remained relatively constant in the dorsal columns during development. The activities of two other enzymes of the pentose phosphate pathway, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase and transketolase, measured at various intervals after birth, did not directly parallel changes in the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in the dorsal columns. In both areas of the developing spinal cord the activity of NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase was greater than the activities of the other three dehydrogenases but it did not parallel changes in lipid content of either region. A relationship between the requirements for reducing equivalents and the activities of the four NADP+-dependent dehydrogenases is suggested by the finding that both areas of the adult spinal cord contained lower activities of these enzymes than those observed during the initial 26 days of development. The differences noted in the two areas of the spinal cord during development suggest that mechanisms for the generation of NADPH differ in gray and white matter.  相似文献

Seasonal changes in the contents of lipids and photosynthetic pigments (PSP) in the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar (Phaeophyceae, Alariaceae) on different stages of its growth were studied. Lipids of all plant growth group comprised glyceroglycolipids (GL), phospholipids, and neutral lipids (NL). The ratio between these lipid groups and the content of particular lipids depended on the season and algal growth stage: NL predominated in seedlings; juvenile algae comprised approximately similar amounts of NL and GL; and in adult algae, GL predominated. In winter and spring, algal tissues contained relatively more free sterols than in summer. Total lipid content in seedlings and juvenile algae was higher then in adult plants. Lipid fatty acid (FA) composition was similar on all growth stages, but the content of major components differed; this is mainly related to 18:4 n-3, 20:4 n-6, and 20:5 n-3 acids. The predominant FAs in seedling lipids were saturated FAs, whereas in the lipids of juvenile and adult algae, polyunsaturated FAs predominated.  相似文献

The events in the transformation of the intestine of the larval lamprey into the adult intestine were followed through the seven (1–7) stages of metamorphosis in anadromous Petromyzon marinus L. Light and electron-microscope observations demonstrated that the processes of degeneration, differentiation, and proliferation are involved in the transformation. In the anterior intestine, degeneration of cells and the extrusion of others into the lumen results in the disappearance of secretory (zymogen) cells and the decline in numbers of endocrine and ciliated cells. Larval absorptive cells, with a prominent brush border, are believed to dedifferentiate into unspecialized columnar cells with few microvilli. Degeneration and removal of cells occurs by both autophagy and heterography and cells extruded into the lumen in the anterior intestine are phagocytosed by epithelial cells of the posterior intestine. The loss of epithelial cells during transformation results in the folding and degradation of parts of the basal lamina and in an extensive widening of the lateral intercellular spaces in all parts of the intestine. As metamorphosis is a nontrophic period of the lamprey life cycle, the possible morphological effects of starvation on the intestinal epithelium are discussed. The development of longitudinal folds is a consequence of the events of metamorphic transformation of the intestinal mucosa. Although an interaction between the epithelium and the underlying tissues is believed to be importent, the actual mechanism of fold development is unknown. The intestinal epithelium of adult lampreys develops from surviving cells of the larval (primary) epithelium. Unlike the situation in amphibians, there does not appear to be a group (nest) of undifferentiated larval cells which differentiate into the adult (secondary) epithelium. Instead, in lampreys, columnar cells that persist through the degradative processes seem to be the source of absorptive and ciliated cells and probably are responsible for mucous and secretory cells. Preliminary observations indicate that the intestinal epithelium of feeding adults is specialized into an anterior region which liberates a secretion, absorbs lipid, and possesses the machinery for ion transport. A posterior region absorbs lipid, secretes mucus, and likely is involved in some protein absorption.  相似文献

Both poor fetal development and accelerated post‐natal growth have been linked to adult dyslipidemias in many studies conducted in developed societies. It is not known, however, whether these relationships only characterize populations with typical Western diets or if they also may develop in groups at the early stages of a dietary transition. Our longitudinal study of traditional rural populations in the Southwest Pacific during a period of extremely rapid modernization in diet and life‐styles shows a nascent association between child growth retardation, subsequent growth acceleration, and adult lipid values in spite of a continuing prevalence of very low lipid levels. However, our results do not entirely conform to results from populations with “modern” diets. Outcome (i.e., young adult) cholesterol and triglyceride levels are more consistently related to initial measures of body fat and growth in body fat measures than with stature, while outcome apo A‐1 is more consistently related to initial stature or stature growth than to measures of body fat. We suggest this may reflect a pattern characteristic of the initial stages of “modernization” associated with dietary change, with stronger and more pervasive relationships emerging only later as populations complete the dietary transition. Summary As reported for several other avian species there are clearly distinguishable subcapsular (SCZ) and inner (IZ) zones of interrenal tissue in the Japanese quail. The SCZ contains large columnar cells (type I) with rounded nuclei, polymorphic mitochondria with shelf-like cristae, and relatively small numbers of lipid droplets. The IZ contains two and possibly three types of cells. Type II consists of large columnar cells with moderately dense cytoplasm containing large numbers of lipid droplets and many rounded mitochondria with tubular cristae. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) and Golgi apparatus are well developed; coated vesicles occur in the Golgi area and at the cell surface. Type-III cells occur in IZ and especially in its more peripheral areas. They are columnar cells with strikingly clear cytoplasm (in comparison with type II) containing mitochondria with plate-like cristae and tubular SER. Type-IV cells are sparsely distributed in IZ and occur rarely in SCZ. Type IV may be a degenerating phase of type III.After adenohypophysectomy or section of portal vessels type-I cells atrophy somewhat with a decrease in lipid droplets; type-II cells, also atrophy with conspicuous increase in size and number of lipid droplets, enlargement of mitochondria, and gradual disappearance of SER; type-III cells decrease in number whereas type-IV cells increase.After injection of ACTH, type-I cells enlarge and their mitochondria, SER and Golgi apparatus become more conspicuous; there is a decrease in lipid droplets in type-II cells and a development of SER, polysomes and Golgi apparatus; there is also a decrease in lipid droplets and a development of SER in type-III cells after injection of 2IU ACTH and an almost complete disappearance of lipid droplets after 4IU ACTH; type-IV cells increase in number.The investigation reported herein was supported by Scientific Research Grants from the Ministry of Education of Japan to Professor Mikami; and by grants from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the National Science Foundation (USA), and the Graduate School Fund of the University of Washington to Professor Farner  相似文献

The Leydig cells of viscacha (seasonal rodent) show cytoplasmic hypertrophy and regional distribution during the breeding period (summer-autumn). The dominant organelles are smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) and mitochondria. A moderately well-developed Golgi, abundant lipid inclusions, dense bodies like lysosomes in different stages, and centrioles are observed. Extensive or focal desmosome and gap-like junctions between neighbouring Leydig cells are present. These cells exhibit an evident hypotrophy and an increase in the number of dense bodies during the gonadal regression in winter (July and August). Cells in different stages of involution are observed in this period. Their nuclei are irregular and heterochromatic. The cytoplasm contains few mitochondria. The vesicular SER is scarse. Irregular and large intercellular spaces with microvilli and amorphous material are present. The junctional complexes are absent. The nuclear and cytoplasmic volume and development of SER and mitochondria increase during the recovery period (spring). The lipid inclusions decrease. Dilatations of the intercellular space with microvilli and limited by focal desmosome-like junctions are observed. In conclusion, the Leydig cells of Lagostomus maximus maximus show deep changes alongside the reproductive cycle. The photoperiod variations, through pineal hypothalamus pituitary axis and the hormone melatonin, are probably responsible for them. Moreover, the fall of serum and tubular testosterone would be one of the factors responsible for gonadal regression.  相似文献

During the differentiation of phloem sieve elements, the endoplasmic reticulum undergoes unique modifications to form the sieve element reticulum (SER) which persists in mature, functioning sieve tubes. Cisternae of the SER lack ribosomes and are restricted to the periphery of the sieve element at late stages of development. Some of the SER is seen as single cisternae that are in close contact with the sieve element plasma membrane. Thin sections and freeze-fracture images of sieve elements formed in tissue cultures demonstrate that the SER consists of both single cisternae and regions of stacked cisternae at some stages of maturity. The unstacked regions of the SER are continuous with the cisternae of the stacked regions. In freeze-fracture images the single cisternae adjacent to the plasma membrane are seen to be fenestrated and the openings allow continuity between the plasma membrane and the cell lumen. It is concluded that the interface between the SER and the plasma membrane of the sieve element serves to allow membrane functions such as proton efflux, proton-sucrose cotransport and compensating movements of ions to occur in a microenvironment that is separated from the moving translocation stream in the sieve element lumen. Passage of water and translocated solutes from the plasma membrane or the SER/PM interface to the interior of the cell is enhanced by the openings in the fenestrated regions of the SER. It is suggested tha the SER may also play a role in channeling ATP from mitochondria associated with the SER to the proton-pumping ATPase in the plasma membrane and that the SER may function in the uptake and release of potassium ions in the sieve element.  相似文献

The intestine of Mugilidae (Pisces; Teleostei) at different growth stages. I. Morphological and histological aspects A morphological and histological study of the intestine of Mugilidae (Mugil cephalus, Liza aurata, Liza ramada and Liza saliens) has been carried out from the larval to the adult stages. The allometric relationship between length of intestine and standard length of fish are represented by regression lines correlated with species and kind of diet. S.E.M. observations on the intestinal mucosa surface show finger-like villi, as in Mammals. Histologically, the mucosa structure appears similar to that in others Teleosteans. The gobblet cells are scarce in the larval stages but very numerous in the juvenile stages; furthermore, they are more abundant in the posterior than the anterior part of the intestine (respectively 25 and 10%). Change in the feeding habits observed in young stages has no effect on the features of the intestine but notably increases its relative length.  相似文献

Types of myosin light chains and tropomyosins present in various regions and at different developmental stages of embryonic and posthatched chicken breast muscle (pectoralis major) have been characterized by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. In the embryonic muscle all areas appear to accumulate both slow and fast forms of mysoin light chains in addition to α and β forms of tropomyosin. During development regional differences in myosin and tropomyosin expression become apparent. Slow myosin subunits become gradually restricted to areas of the anterior region of the muscle and finally become localized to a small red strip found on its anterior deep surface. This red region is characterized by the presence of slow and fast myosin light chains, α-fast, α-slow, and β-tropomyosin. In all other areas of the muscle examined only fast myosin light chains, β-tropomyosin and the α-fast form of tropomyosin, are found. In addition, β-tropomyosin also gradually becomes lost in the posterior regions of the developing breast muscle. In the adult, the red strip area represents less than 1% of the total pectoralis major mass and of the myosin extracted from this area approximately 15% was present as an isozyme that comigrated on nondenaturing gels with myosin from a slow muscle (anterior latissimus dorsi). The red region accumulates therefore fast as well as slow muscle myosin. Thus while the adult chicken pectoralis major is over 99% fast white muscle, the embryonic muscle displays a significant and changing capacity to accumulate both fast and slow muscle peptides.  相似文献

Summary Routine electron microscopy and a zinc iodide-osmium tetroxide technique (ZIO), recently found to be specific for synaptic vesicles, were used to study the origin of synaptic vesicles during postnatal development in the lumbosacral enlargement of the albino rat. In immature nervous tissue, a large number of vesicles, indistinguishable from synaptic vesicles (S vesicles), were found in the Golgi apparatus and in different portions of the axon where they were often intermingled with elements of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER). Ten to twenty percent of these S vesicles within the Golgi apparatus as well as the majority of these vesicles in all parts of the axon were positive to ZIO. Much of the SER in axons was also positive. The number of vesicles and elements of the SER showed some decrease in the non-terminal portion of axons on day 21 and even more of a decrease in adult neurons. These data suggest that synaptic vesicles are produced in the Golgi apparatus and SER in immature neurons. The decrease in S vesicles and SER in adult neurons suggests a drop in synaptic vesicle production after synaptogenesis has ended. In addition, the material that has been studied shows that ZIO staining is not limited to synaptic vesicles during development since oligodendroglia and endothelial cells are also stained during this period.  相似文献

Abstract The structure of the anterior end of three ontogenetically successive stages of Nectonema munidae (Nematomorpha) is investigated by light and transmission electron microscopy. During development, an adult cuticle is formed under a larval cuticle, which is subsequently moulted. Only one moult can be documented for Nectonema. The brain has a main subpharyngeal portion and a weak suprapharyngeal commissure. It is circumpharyngeal only in early developmental stages, the dorsal commissure is reduced in the adult stage. Four giant cells and a cerebral cavity are adult features. Although the morphology of the giant cells is elucidated, their function remains unclear, but a sensory function is probable. A septum marks the posterior border of the anterior end and divides a cerebral cavity from a body cavity. A precursor of the septum is present in the first stage observed, but it lies next to the epidermis and does not separate a cerebral cavity. Cuticular structures in the pre-pharyngeal region of the early stages are interpreted as remnants of the larval boring organ. They are moulted together with the larval cuticle. The morphology of the pharynx and the anterior part of the intestine is shown.  相似文献

The development of the Malpighian tubules is studied in Cloeon dipterum through all stages from the youngest larva to the adult. The Malpighian tubules are found to be outgrowths of the posterior part of the endodermal midgut and not of the ectodermal hindgut. In the adult the part of the intestine with the tubule openings becomes separated by an ingrowing fold of the epithelium from the anterior main part of the midgut that forms a large thin-walled and air-filled bladder. The characteristics of the developmental stages, which served to determine the age of the animals, are given.  相似文献

Evidence for stripping of ribosomes from RER in the 17,000g PMS of the liver of the cancer patient was obtained in the 1.35 M region which is the region between the SER and RER. RNA/protein ratios for the SER, 1.35 M region, and RER of 0.001, 0.083, and 0.235, respectively, for this liver are consistent with the degranulation of RER compared with RNA/protein ratios for SER and RER from normal livers of 0.025 +/- 0.003, and 0.35 + 0.030, respectively. A RNA/protein ratio of 0.235 was obtained for the RER region of the cancer patient. The EM revealed that the region of the RER in the cancer liver was ribosomal and not at all RER. This ribosomal material is reminiscent of the ribosomes banding in the 1.35- to 2 M domain of the RER isolated from the reconstitution experiments (SER + polyribosomes + supernatant). It was suggested that the ribosomal material isolated from the cancer liver could therefore be indicative of polyribosomal lesion or degradation. The 0.25-1.35 M interface (SER), 1.35 M region, and 1.35-2 M interface (RER) characteristics are therefore exploitable for diagnostic potential and further understanding of the molecular basis of cancer.  相似文献

The distribution of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) was investigated in developing and matured ovaries of the medaka, Oryzias latipes. In the fry, FGF localized in the cytoplasmic region of all oocytes in the ovary at the pre-vitellogenic stage. Before the initiation of vitellogenesis, it disappeared in the cytoplasmic region and newly appeared around each oocyte, and then it localized around all oocytes in the ovary at the vitellogenic stage. Interestingly, the change in FGF distribution was orderly occurring from the posterior to anterior region of the ovary. In the adult, FGF was detected by immunofluorescence staining around the oocytes. These results suggest that FGF plays a significant role in the initiation of oocyte development through follicle cells, and the expression of FGF is rigidly regulated in the developing ovary of O. latipes.  相似文献

果蝇是一种重要的模式生物,为遗传学研究作出了巨大贡献。近几十年来,在发育生物学、行为生物学、神经生物学等领域也都发挥了十分关键的作用。脂质是构成生命的4大类基本物质之一,但关于果蝇脂质组特征研究并不多,尤其是黑腹果蝇在生长发育过程中的脂质组含量变化尚未见报导。为更全面了解果蝇生长发育的特性,本研究应用脂质组学方法,系统地表征了黑腹果蝇成虫生长过程中的337种脂质分子的变化。结果显示,磷脂总量从152.61 ± 4.92 nmol/mg 降低至112.3 ± 3.87 nmol/mg,其中溶血磷脂酰胆碱含量从0.70 ± 0.03 nmol/mg 升高至0.93 ± 0.11 nmol/mg。而中性脂甘油三酯 (TAG) 和甘油二酯 (DAG) 变化最剧烈,伴随果蝇生长,从356.12 ± 34.05 nmol/mg下降至86.99 ± 13.07 nmol/mg。同时,分析了与细胞膜稳定性有关的膜脂碳链长度、双键数目(DBI)和磷脂酰胆碱(PC)/磷脂酰乙醇胺(PE)比值的变化。结果显示,果蝇成虫在生长阶段早中期(8~15 d)细胞膜最稳定,通过增加膜脂双键数目(10%~20%)和升高PC/PE比值(14%),增强膜稳定性。黑腹果蝇在成虫生长的不同阶段,其脂质分子组成特征不同,我们所发现的黑腹果蝇成虫生长过程中脂质分子含量变化,一方面为在脂质水平研究黑腹果蝇生长调控奠定了重要基础,另一方面也为黑腹果蝇作为研究模型时控制其正常健康生长提供了参考标准。  相似文献

Hamada G. S. and Wertheim G. 1978. Mastophorus muris (Nematoda: Spirurina): ultrastructure of somatic muscle development. International Journal for Parasitology8; 405–414. The ultrastructure of the somatic muscle cells of the adult and six developmental stages of Mastophorus were studied. In all stages the cells consisted of a contractile region containing myofibrils separated by dense bands and a noncontractile region with nuclei, mitochondria, glycogen, lipid droplets and vesicles. Two sizes of myofilaments were present. The dense band contained T tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum, and, in more advanced stages, support filaments, glycogen and dense bodies. The contractile region of the adult muscle cell consisted of several hundred irregularly shaped myofibrils arranged in a random pattern. This pattern of myofibrils was defined as irregular-coelomyarian. The third stage larva had a shallow-coelomyarian myofibril configuration, which changed to coelomyarian in the late third stage through the addition of new myofibrils at the apical contractile border. In the fourth stage larvae, the subdivision of existing myofibrils changed the pattern to irregular-coelomyarian.  相似文献
