Generation of transgenic plants exhibiting traits of interest requires the marriage of several technologies including gene transfer, selection and plant regeneration. Variety is the driver for these technologies because of the breadth of plant species requiring modification. A new selectable marker gene, pflp, has been applied to the recovery of orchid plants that exhibit resistance to a major bacterial disease that plagues the orchid industry. pflp as a selection system might be adaptable to many crops.  相似文献

Five new acylphloroglucinols, callistenones L-P (1–5), and three known compounds watsonianone A, callistenones F and H were isolated from the fruits of Callistemon viminalis. Callistenones L and M possessed a bisfuran fused-ring skeleton. Compounds 3–5 were acylphloroglucinol condensed with a β-triketone moiety via a pyrane. Their structures were established from analyses of NMR spectra, CD spectra and X-ray crystallography. Compound 8 showed antibacterial activity against S. aureus with MIC value of 20.3 μg/mL and E. coli with MIC value of 15.6 μg/mL.  相似文献

The diversity of fruit types within the Amentiferae appears to be the result of different seed dispersal and seedling establishment strategies that have evolved independently in the amentiferous families within the confines imposed by the wind-pollination syndrome. Dispersal of unadorned fruits and seeds by wind (e.g.,Betula, Rhoiptelea, Casuarina) has preceded the development of more efficient air-borne devices (e.g.,Ostrya, Carpinus, Engelhardia). Animal dispersal is the most advanced strategy, relying rarely on drupes, as in the shrubby Myricaceae, or on nuts, as inCorylus, Quercus, Carya, Juglans, Alfaroa, etc. The pattern of seedling establishment shows a structural-functional relationship to the seeddispersal strategy. Epigeal germination predominates in plants of open habitats. Those species with small fruits rely on wind dispersal, and their seeds have a relatively short germination time, whereas species with medium-sized fruits are often animal-dispersed with seeds that may have protracted germination times. In either case the reserve food supply for the young seedling is limited, and light is needed to spark photosynthesis. Hypogeal germination has evolved independently in several amentiferous families (e.g., Betulaceae, Fagaceae, Juglandaceae). This pattern is associated with closed habitats and plants with large seeds that have the capability of establishing vigorous seedlings in microhabitats of reduced light intensity where photosynthesis is impaired. The subterranean protection afforded the cotyledons and axillary meristems is a correlative feature that may have considerable importance in seedling survival where desiccation and predation are intense.  相似文献

Phytochemical study of the fruits of Vismia laurentii resulted in the isolation of five structurally related compounds. Three of them are constituents, namely, laurentiquinone A (1) (methyl 1,6,8-trihydroxy-3-methyl-7-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydroanthracene-2-carboxylate), laurentiquinone B (2) (methyl 5,7-dihydroxy-2,2,9-trimethyl-6,11-dioxo-6,11-dihydro-2H-anthra[2,3-b]pyran-8-carboxylate) and laurentiquinone C (3) (methyl 9-(ethanoyloxymethyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-6,11-dioxo-6,11-dihydro-2H-anthra[2,3-b]pyran-8-carboxylate) and two are known compounds, emodin (4) and isoxanthorin (5). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic means. Crude extracts of hexane and EtOAc showed anti-plasmodial activity against the W2 strain of Plasmodium falciparum.  相似文献

Fifteen limonoids, meliatoosenins E-S (1-15), and 10 known compounds were isolated from the fruits of Melia toosendan. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods including DEPT, HSQC, HMBC, (1)H-(1)H COSY, and ROESY experiments. Bioactivity-guided fractionation of the methanol extract of the fruits of Forsythia suspensa Vahl has led to the isolation of two new monoepoxylignans, forsythialan A (1) and B (2), together with a known tetrahydrofurofuran lignan, phillyrin (3). The structures of compounds 1 and 2 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The antioxidant activities of these lignans have been assessed by evaluating their protective effects against peroxynitrite-induced oxidative stress. The compounds 1 and 2 showed protective effects against renal epithelial cell injury by 3-morpholinosydnonimine (SIN-1), a peroxynitrite generator. The relatively stronger antioxidant activities of compounds 1 and 2 may be associated with the presence of aromatic hydroxy function.  相似文献

An abietane-type diterpene, named vitetrifolin A, and two labdane-type diterpenes, named vitetrifolins B and C, were isolated from the acetone extract of the fruits of Vitex trifolia L. (Viticis Fructus; Verbenaceae) along with three known diterpenes, rotundifuran, dihydrosolidagenone and abietatriene 3beta-ol. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, X-ray crystallographic analysis and chemical evidence.  相似文献

Anthocyanin distribution in the fruits of Ilex closely followed an accepted taxonomic classification. Within the evergreen subgenus Aquifolium, species belonging to section Lioprinus produced only cyanidin pigments while in section Aquifolium, pelargonidin was the major anthocyanin. Likewise, in the deciduous subgenus Prinos, species of section Prinoides contained cyanidin pigments and those of section Euprinus had pelargonidin compounds. Tetraoxygenated xanthones, cowaxanthones A-E, together with 10 previously reported tetraoxygenated xanthones, were isolated from the crude hexane extract of the fruits of Garcinia cowa. Cowaxanthone B has previously been reported as a synthetic xanthone. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data, especially by 1D and 2D NMR.
