Electroencephalographic (EEG) spectra have been analyzed under baseline conditions and during olfactory stimulation in substance-dependent and healthy subjects. The intergroup differences in the EEG spectra resulting from an increase in the power of cortical bioelectric potentials in patients with disorders due to psychoactive substance use were recorded in the parietal and temporal EEG leads. Interhemispheric differences have been found in the contribution of different frequencies to the spectral characteristics of the EEG. In patients with addictive disorders, in the temporal area of the left hemisphere, in the high-frequency range, a significant increase in the power of bioelectric potentials was recorded under baseline conditions and during olfactory stimulation. An increased power of α activity was typical of the temporal area of the right hemisphere in patients with disorders due to psychoactive substance use compared to the healthy subjects. The neurophysiological patterns found may be related to the psychological and behavioral features of addictive disorders.  相似文献

EEG spectral power was calculated in 39 students at the age of 19-21 years in two experimental conditions: during the common educational process and immediately before an examination (stress condition). During the education process, in subjects with high anxiety (tested by Spielberger) the relative spectral power of the delta activity was higher than in the other group in the occipital, parietal, central, and right frontal brain areas, whereas the power of the EEG alpha in these areas was lower. Before examination tests, in subjects with high activity the delta power bilaterally increased in the temporal areas, whereas in subjects with low anxiety there was a decrease in the alpha rhythm power, especially in the right frontal area. In stress condition, the relative power of the delta activity in both occipital and temporal, right parietal and central areas was higher in subjects with low anxiety, whereas their alpha power was lower in both frontal and in occipital, parietal, and temporal areas of the left hemisphere.  相似文献

On the base of EEG records of 38 healthy subjects and 17 schizophrenic patients the statistical structural analysis of 176 elementary characteristics in all 11 spectral ranges for each of 4 experimental conditions was carried out, employing "Kora-n" recognition algorithm, adopted for EEG analysis by Kaplan. The list of characteristics with a minimal error revealed statistically significant differences between spectral power of delta- and theta-ranges in healthy subjects and schizophrenic patients. Spectral power of these slow rhythms was always higher in the formers then in the latter. As a whole, in schizophrenic patients the decrease of delta-rhythm spectral power in the lower frontal area of right hemisphere and theta-rhythm - in the lower temporal area of left hemisphere most frequently is observed. These results are in agreement with hypofrontality and hypotemporality characteristic of schizophrenic patients and testify to the lack of "fundamental" brain base of cognitive functions. These facts are evidently connected with the significant neurochemical disturbances taking place in schizophrenia.  相似文献

The lexical-semantic analysis of the internal lexicon structure has shown that teenagers with deviant behavior prefer calling the words designating objects of the environment; they are characterized by the highest frequency of words and predominance of the relatively narrow circle of themes—“interior” and “food, tableware.” Thus, the lexicon nucleus is very structural and is an object component of the world image. Such lexicon structure seems to be due to predominance of the right hemisphere activity. On the contrary, in children without the deviant behavior the nucleus of the verbal cognition can be presented as bipolar: on the one hand, school, school objects, on the other hand, the world of concepts. In the latter case the space of the potential probability activity is reflected. Such lexicon structure seems to be due to predominance of the left hemisphere activity.  相似文献

Effect of the central M-cholinolytic scopolamine on spatial organization of the rat brain electrical activity was studied under conditions of high and low emotional-stress responses. The EEG changes were estimated by 840 parameters. A possibility of the EEG discrimination by means of interstrain differences in responses to scopolamine, was shown. A more obvious decrease in spectral power and potentials coherence was revealed in Maudsley Reactive rats (MR) as compared with the Maudsley Nonreactive rats (MNRA), in parieto-temporal and occipital areas of the right hemisphere, and the reverse interrelationship occurred in the anterior parts of the right and posterior parts of the left hemisphere. These findings suggest some specifics in the spatial distribution of the maximum scopolamine action foci depending on the initial emotional level. Changes occurring under the scopolamine effect in different EEG frequency bands are different in the MR and the MNRA rats. The findings are discussed in respect to the EEG indices of anxiolytic component of cholinergic regulation of the brain activity.  相似文献

The features of the spatial organization of bioelectric potentials in the cases of successful and unsuccessful creative imagination (refusal or poor quality of the product) under conditions of informational oversaturation. Two groups of subjects were compared: professionals (23 healthy students of the Department of Graphic Arts) and non-professionals (34 persons whose specialties were not linked with systematic visual imagination). During the experiments, the subjects were asked to mentally create a visual image based on two simple graphic elements, a right angle and a diagonal; after recording the EEG, they had to draw the image on paper and give it a title. The total number of elements exceeded 7 ± 2; hence, information processing at the conscious level was impossible, which caused the necessity of involving the mechanisms of unconscious information processing. The quality of the created product was evaluated with regard to the degree of success of performing the task and the features of spatial EEG organization. The EEG was recorded from 24 scalp sites of a subject using a SIT-EEG portable telemetric device. In the case of the successful performance of the task by professionals, the parameters of spatial organization of bioelectric potentials, i.e., spatial synchronization (linear processes) and spatial disorder (non-linear process) were strengthened compared to the base-line level in the frontal temporal areas of the right hemisphere and parietal occipital areas of the left hemisphere. Conversely, in the nonprofessionals, these parameters increased in the frontal temporal areas of the left hemisphere and parietal occipital areas of the right hemisphere. In the case a task was not successfully performed by the professionals, the spatial disorder of bioelectric potentials increased in all the cortical areas; in the nonprofessionals, only weak changes were observed. In all situations, the groups differed also in the parameters of coherence (Coh), spectral power (Sp) of bioelectric potentials, and informational energy, which reflects the level of expenditure of the brain’s energy for information processing. The evidence obtained is interpreted in terms of electroencephalographic correlates of successful task performance by professionals and nonprofessionals, i.e., their creative imagination under the conditions of informational over-saturation.  相似文献

Brain bioelectrical activity was studied in 38 and 34 subjects with high and low levels of anxiety, respectively, by means of toposelective mapping of EEG spectral power and recording of P300 endogenous event-related auditory evoked potentials (EPs). Analysis of EEG spectra demonstrated, in the subjects with a high level of trait anxiety, a higher power of β1 oscillations in the central-parietal areas of both hemispheres and the occipital area of the right hemisphere, as well as a higher power of θ and α oscillations in the frontal areas of both hemispheres and the central-parietal area of the left hemisphere. The occipital-frontal gradient of the spectral power of these rhythmic EEG components was altered in subjects with a high level of trait anxiety. Comparison of P300 cognitive auditory EPs in the subjects with high anxiety and in the control group showed that, in the former, the P300 EP amplitude and the habituation distortion (dishabituation) of the P300 EP amplitude were significantly higher in both hemispheres. This indicates that, at a high level of anxiety, the active directed attention was disturbed, which is confirmed by the results of neuropsychological examination, demonstrating reduced selectivity, concentration, and stability of attention in the Münsterberg test and Schulte’s test. The results of electrophysiological examination suggest that the malfunction of regulatory brain modulating systems is an important neurophysiological mechanism of attention pathology and disturbed adaptation in subjects with a high level of trait anxiety.  相似文献

A cognitive set to illusory perception of linear relationships was formed in 56 young healthy subjects. After 10 presentations of Müller-Lyer figures, 39 subjects formed the stable set. In 17 subjects the unstable set was formed. The spectral power of the EEG led from different cortical areas was studied at different stages of set formation. Analysis of variance showed that the factors "set stage" and "group" x "set stage" x "hemisphere" exert significant influence on the EEG spectral power in the delta range in the frontal area. In the subjects with stable set, the power of this spectral component increased at the stages of set formation and actualization and returned to its initial values during set extinction. The between-group difference was more expressed in the left hemisphere. In subjects, which formed the stable set, the power of the occipitotemporal alpha rhythm in the reference state was higher than in subjects with the unstable set. In the process of set formation, the dynamics of the alpha spectral component (8-10 Hz) was more expressed in the stable group: its power increased to a greater extent at the stages of set actualization and extinction. In both groups, there were no significant changes in the alpha2 power over the course of the experiment.  相似文献

fMRI (1.5 or 3 T) and EEG studies with estimation of reactive responses on motor task (by right or left hand) were performed in 9 patients with tumors localized in frontal lobe of the brain. Results of this investigation were compared with results of the similar study in 12 healthy persons. It was shown that in cases of the brain pathology disorders of functional specialization and increase of diffuse component of reactivity was observed, fMRI-responses had been characterized the more intact reactions than reactive changes of EEG parameters. This specificity was described in cases of afferent loads in damaged hemisphere. Peculiarity of including different spectral bands in forming of EEG responses on motor tasks and changes of fMRI-answer depend on degree of cerebral decompensation, reflected in the of baseline EEG reorganization and degree of motor defect. Predominantly an increase of EEG coherence in delta-band with the predominance of reaction in the damaged hemisphere in cases of addressing any afferent load was observed in patients with severe cerebral decompensation and reflect dominant character of pathological focus forming. This data indicate on the more including of the deep brain structures in process of reactivity in patients compared with healthy persons and confirmed by fMRI-data.  相似文献

The work is aimed at the study of neurophysiological mechanisms of examination stress in subjects with different levels of cortical activation. Spectral power and typical cortical connections of EEG rhythms were studied in students under conditions of stress before and immediately after examination as well as during usual academic semester. Students with relatively higher and relatively lower baseline alpha rhythm, i.e., with different levels of cortical activation revealed both similar and different EEG reactions. Before examination, in both groups of subjects the spectral power of EEG activity in the delta and thetal bands increased, and the number of connections in the bands of the alpha and beta 1 rhythms decreased as compared to usual baseline conditions. However, the EEG reactions in the theta 2 band in the two groups were oppositely directed. Significant changes in the beta 2 power were observed only in the group of subjects with higher baseline level of cortical activation.  相似文献

We assessed the sympatho-vagal activities of the heart after administration of capsaicin by measuring the power spectral analysis in rats. There were major two frequency components of heart rate variability, which we defined as high (1.0 Hz <, HF) and low (LF, < 1.0 Hz) frequency components. Vagal blockade by atropine abolished the high frequency component, and lowered the amplitude of the low frequency component. On the other hand, under conditions of sympathetic blockade by propranolol, the low frequency component was reduced. Combined vagal and sympathetic blockade abolished all heart rate fluctuations. We analyzed the low and high frequency components by integrating the spectrum for the respective band width. The rats administered capsaicin had a higher heart rate and sympathetic nervous system index (LF/HF) than the control group of rats. These results suggest that power spectral analysis is an effective and noninvasive method for detecting subtle changes in autonomic activity in response to the intake of foods or drugs.  相似文献

Performance of cognitive tests and EEG spectral power were evaluated in 39 students aged from 19-21 years in two conditions: during common educational process and immediately before examination (stress condition). Before examination, the performance was better in subjects with low level of spectral density in the delta band (in the occipital, parietal, central and frontal cortical areas) and high level of the alpha-rhythm spectral density in all the cortical areas, A decrease in performance scores before examination was correlated with an increase in the delta activity (in the right frontal and temporal cortical areas) and rise of the anxiety level (tested by Spielberger).  相似文献

The EEG spectral power was calculated in 102 students aged 18-25 years in three experimental conditions (during the common educational process, immediately before and after an examination). Before the examination (stress situation), predominant activation of the right anterior cortical quadrant (the area related with negative emotions, according to R. Davidson, 1993) was revealed by the asymmetry coefficient of the beta rhythm. Subjects with low amplitude of the alpha rhythm (more activated) manifested not only emotional but also autonomic disturbances, while only emotional signs were pronounced in students with high alpha (less activated). Increase in the theta rhythm spectral power during stress and its decrease in the poststress period were observed in the less activated persons, which is considered to be a normal reaction to emotionally negative stimuli. On the contrary, in students with low alpha the theta rhythm power in the stress situation was decreased pointing to their emotional instability. In this group, as distinct from the first one, the beta 2 rhythm recorded in the right anterior cortical quadrant did not decrease in the poststress situation. Together with the observed theta rhythm, decrease in the left-hemisphere and bilateral prefrontal areas in the stress situation, this deviation testifies to a predisposition to the reactive depression of these subjects.  相似文献

Spatial and frequency EEG characteristics of two groups of healthy adult subjects were examined in two series of experiments, which differed in conditions of the second cognitive task in a trial. The first task was the same in the two series: subjects had to evaluate size relationship between two closely spaced circles. The second task successively presented in trials of the first series consisted in the recognition of words/pseudowords, and in the second series, subjects had to localize a target letter in a matrix. It was assumed that the cognitive performance in the first series predominantly involved the ventral visual system, whereas during task performance in the second series, predominant involvement of the ventral and dorsal visual systems alternated. Multichannel EEG fragments recorded prior to the presentation of the task pairs were analyzed. Analysis of variance of the EEG spectral power revealed the generalized significant effect of the factor of the second task in the pair for delta band and lower beta subband, the power being higher in the first series. Factor brain hemisphere had a significant effect for the alpha band in the occipital area, the spectral power being lower in the left hemisphere for both experimental series. The task x hemisphere interaction was significant in the temporal cortical areas for the EEG power in alpha2 band, i.e., the predominant involvement of the ventral visual system was associated with stronger asymmetry of alpha2 rhythm and lower spectral power in this band in the left temporal area. Thus, the character of the forthcoming cognitive activity was shown to be reflected in spatio-frequency characteristics of the preceding EEG.  相似文献

Electroencephalographic examination of boys aged 4–9 years with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) showed spectral power values and coherence in high-frequency bands (20–60 Hz) in various brain areas were higher than normal. Differences in spectral power were greater in the anterior areas of the left hemisphere; differences in coherence, in the right anterior and posterior areas. Interhemispheric differences typical of healthy subjects were absent in the children with ASDs. The spectral power of the θ rhythm was lower in autism, especially in the left hemisphere. The spectral power of the α rhythm in the autistic children was lower than normal, especially in the posterior areas of the left hemisphere. The μ rhythm was higher than normal in spectral power and was localized in the right, rather than left, anterior areas. The children were examined again after corrective procedures. The α-rhythm spectral power increased (became closer to the norm) in the left posterior areas, while the γ-rhythm spectral power decreased (became closer to the norm) in the right anterior areas in some of the autistic children. The electrophysiological changes were associated with improved psychological testing results, especially in nonverbal measures.  相似文献

Somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) were studied in eight healthy subjects in a state of alertness, in different stages of night sleep and also in night sleep after previous emotional stress. Characteristic changes of SEP were revealed in the second stage of sleep in delta-sleep and in the phase of rapid sleep. In conditions of emotional stress changes in SEP characteristics in periods of alertness and of night sleep were observed, expressed in the amplitude increase of a number of components. Asymmetry was revealed with predominance of the amplitude increase in the right hemisphere in the phase of the rapid sleep testifying to different roles of the cerebral hemispheres in processing of emotionally significant information. SEP changes in different functional states after the influence of emotional stress were considered as the reflection of non-specific activation increase possibly due to activation of the limbic structures in response to stress-producing stimulus.  相似文献

Multichannel EEG were recorded in young healthy subjects in two series of experiments during formation, actualization, and extinction of the visual unconscious set to the perception of unequal circles under conditions of increased motivation of subjects to the result of their performance. In the first series of experiments, subjects were promised to be rewarded (a small money price) for each correct response (the "general" rise of motivation). In the second series, subjects were promised to be rewarded for correct responses only in cases when one of the circles was larger than the other one (the "directed" rise of motivation). The dynamics of the EEG spectral power derived under these two conditions was compared with similar indices obtained earlier during formation of the same set without any special motivation of subjects (control). In all experimental conditions, before the presentation of the stimuli the EEG power in the alpha range was higher in subjects with the stable set. The dynamics of changes in the alpha power at set stages was principally similar in all conditions. In all the experimental conditions, in subjects with unstable set the EEG power in the delta range was highest at the stage of set actualization. The most pronounced generalized changes in the EEG power in the theta-range during the "general" rise of motivation in subjects with stable and unstable forms of set and greater variability of the reaction time to the probe stimulus suggest that the task performance under these conditions required greater tension than under conditions of the "directed" rise of motivation.  相似文献

The 62-channel EEG was recorded while low (LA, n = 18) and high (HA, n = 18) trait-anxious subjects viewed sequentially presented neutral, threatening and pleasant IAPS stimuli. Event-related desynchronization (ERD) and synchronization (ERS) were studied in the delta, theta1, theta2, alpha1, alpha2, beta1, beta2, beta3, and gamma frequency bands. Between-group differences, related to stimulus emotionality, were linked to theta1 and theta2 bands. In the low theta at prefrontal sites in the test period of 100-700 ms after stimulus onset HA exhibited relative predominance of the left hemisphere in response to both threatening and pleasant stimuli, whereas LA yielded larger right than left hemisphere activity in response to all the three stimulus categories. In the upper theta band between group differences were associated with posterior cortical regions and the test period of 0-1000 ms after stimulus onset: HA exhibited the largest ERS to threatening, whereas LA prompted the largest ERS to pleasant stimuli. Finally, according to the ERD data, in the alpha1 band HA participants in comparison with LA revealed enhanced left hemisphere activation in response to all the stimulus categories. It is suggested that as it is indexed by theta-ERS relative predominance of the left hemisphere at prefrontal sites along with the largest bilateral activity of posterior cortical regions (i.e., enhanced higher order visual processing) to threatening stimuli could form the basis for general bias towards threatening information in HA at the very early stages of emotional processing.  相似文献
