Cadmium tolerance and accumulation in eight potential energy crops   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8
The production of energy crops that can be used for biodiesel production is a sustainable approach for the removal of metal pollutants by phytoremediation. This study investigated the cadmium (Cd) accumulation and tolerance of eight potential energy crops. After growth for 28 days in substrates containing 0, 50, 100 or 200 mg Cd·kg− 1, seedlings were evaluated for growth parameters, chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and Cd accumulation. All eight crops were moderately tolerant to Cd toxicity, with four [i.e., hemp (Cannabis sativa), flax (Linum usitatissimum), castor (Ricinus communis) and peanut (Arachis hypogaea)] being more tolerant than the others. Three of these crops (hemp, flax and peanut) had higher Cd accumulation capacities. The roots of peanut and hemp had high bioconcentration factors (BCF > 1000), while flax shoots accumulated a higher concentration of Cd (> 100 mg/kg). These results demonstrate that it is possible to grow energy crops on Cd-contaminated soil. Hemp, flax and peanut are excellent candidates for phytoremediation.  相似文献

The effects of Cd on the growth and distribution of Cd and mineral nutrients within plant tissues were investigated for Pinus sylvestris L. seedlings grown in mineral forest soil with increasing levels of Cd addition (0–100 mg kg–1). Approximately 20% of added Cd was found to be extractable from sandy loam forest soil. Root growth was less affected by Cd than shoot growth, which showed a significant reduction in the 100 mg Cd kg–1 treatment. Cadmium accumulated in roots up to 325 mg kg–1. Decreased concentrations of K in needles and Ca in stems with increasing Cd levels suggest a disturbance of mineral nutrition as a result of Cd addition.  相似文献

Field survey, hydroponic culture, and pot experiments were carried out to examine and characterize cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) uptake and accumulation by Sedum jinianum, a plant species native to China. Shoot Cd and Zn concentrations in S. jinianum growing on a lead/Zn mine area reached 103–478 and 4165–8349 mg kg?1 (DM), respectively. The shoot Cd concentration increased with the increasing Cd supply, peaking at 5083 mg kg?1 (DM) when grown in nutrient at a concentration of 100 μmol L?1 for 32 d, and decreased as the solution concentration increased from 200 to 400 μmol L?1. The shoot-to-root ratio of plant Cd concentrations was > 1 when grown in solution Cd concentrations ≤ 200 μmol L?1. Foliar, stem, and root Zn concentrations increased linearly with the increasing Zn level from 1 to 9600 μmol L?1. The Zn concentrations in various plant parts decreased in the order roots > stem > leaves, with maximum concentrations of 19.3, 33.8, and 46.1 g kg?1 (DM), respectively, when plants were grown at 9600 μmol Zn L?1 for 32 d. Shoot Cd concentrations reached 16.4 and 79.8 mg kg?1 (DM) when plants were grown in the pots of soil with Cd levels of 2.4 mg kg?1 and 9.2 mg kg?1, respectively. At soil Zn levels of 619 and 4082 mg kg?1, shoot Zn concentrations reached 1560 and 15,558 mg kg?1 (DM), respectively. The results indicate that S. jinianum is a Cd hyperaccumulator with a high capacity to accumulate Zn in the shoots.  相似文献

Bacterial inoculants of the commercially available plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) Arthrobacter mysorens 7, Flavobacterium sp. L30, and Klebsiella mobilis CIAM 880 were selected to obtain ecologically safe barley crop production on cadmium (Cd) polluted soils. All the PGPR immobilized 24–68% soluble cadmium from soil suspension. A. mysorens 7 and K. mobilis CIAM 880 were highly resistant to Cd and grew in up to 1 and 3 mmol CdCl2 on DAS medium respectively. All PGPR were able to fix nitrogen (276–1014 nmol mg–1 bacterial DW) and to produce indole acetic acid (IAA) (126–330 nmol mg–1 bacterial DW) or ethylene (4.6–13.5 nmol bacterial DW). All the PGPR actively colonized barley root system and rhizosphere and significantly stimulated root elongation of barley seedlings (up to 25%), growing on soil containing 5 or 15 mg Cd kg–1 of soil. Created in the simulation mathematical model confirms our hypothesis that PGPR beneficial effect on barley growing under Cd-stress is a complex process. One of mechanisms underlying this effect might be increase of bacterial migration from rhizoplane to rhizosphere, where PGPR bind soluble free Cd ions in biologically unavailable complex forms. Among the studied PGPR K. mobilis CIAM 880 was the most effective inoculant. Inoculation with K. mobilis CIAM 880 of barley plants growing on Cd contaminated soil (5 mg Cd kg–1 of soil) under field conditions increased by 120% grain yield and 2-fold decreased Cd content in barley grain. The results suggest that the using K. mobilis CIAM 880 is an effective way to increase the plant yield on poor and polluted areas.  相似文献

The potential for cadmium (Cd) removal from contaminated soil by two species—marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) and Guinea grass (Panicum maximum)—was investigated in pot culture experiments in a greenhouse in triplicate. The concentration of Cd was varied from 50 to 200 mg kg?1 and the pH was varied from 5.0 to 7.5 to investigate the effect of pH on Cd uptake. The results showed that total biomass of Guinea grass was around nine and seven times higher than that of marigold for Cd treatments of 50 and 100 mg kg?1 at pH 5.0, respectively. Total cadmium uptake at Cd treatments of 50 and 100 mg kg?1 at pH 5.0 by Guinea grass was 19.28 ± 3.14 and 36.06 ± 4.28 mg kg?1, respectively, and for marigold was 15.66 ± 4.17 and 20.38 ± 3.24 mg kg?1, respectively. The total Cd uptake by Guinea grass was 1.23 and 1.77 higher than that of marigold at Cd treatments of 50 and 100 mg kg?1, respectively, at pH 5.0 due to higher biomass. The maximum Cd uptake by marigold and Guinea grass occurred at pH 5.0 at Cd treatment of 100 mg kg?1. The results clearly show that the two species behave very differently for Cd uptake. Guinea grass is easy to grow, drought tolerant and, due to its higher biomass, it can be used for remediation of Cd-contaminated soil.  相似文献

Three strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) cultivars Rainier, Totem and Selva were grown under greenhouse conditions in a Parkhill sandy loam soil with a background DTPA-extractable Cd concentration of 0.18 mg kg-1 and a pH of 5.1. Experimental treatments included combinations of 4 Cd applications (0, 15, 30 and 60 mg Cd kg-1 soil) applied as CdSO4 and 2 soil pH values 5.1 and 6.8. Both the application of Cd and pH of the soil significantly affected plant growth, yield and Cd accumulation in plant tissue anf fruit. Although roots accumulated the highest concentrations of Cd of all plant parts investigated, increased soil Cd application reduced leaf weight more than root weight. In general, yield of strawberries was decreased by an increase in amount of soil-applied Cd, however the yield response varied among cultivars. At 60 mg Cd kg-1 soil, yield of Rainier cultivar was reduced to 17.6% of control plants. Over 90% of total Cd taken up by plants grown in Cd-treated soil accumulated in roots, regardless of the Cd level in the soil. Root Cd concentrations ranged from 2.6 mg kg-1 (control plants) to 505.7 mg kg-1 (Totem plants grown in soil at highest Cd and a soil pH 5.1) and were directly related to soil Cd concentrations. Cd translocation from roots to leaves and fruit was very limited, resulting in a maximum Cd concentration in root leaf tissue of 10.2 mg kg-1. Accumulation of Cd in fruit was found to correlate well with leaf Cd, although even at the highest amount of applied Cd, fruit Cd concentration did not exceed 700 g kg-1 of fresh weight.Contribution no. 951  相似文献

We investigated uptake of Cd by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) maize inoculated with Glomus mosseae from a low-P sandy calcareous soil in two glasshouse experiments. Plants grew in pots containing two compartments, one for root and hyphal growth and one for hyphal development only. Three levels of Cd (0, 25 and 100 mg kg–1) and two of P (20 and 60 mg kg–1) were applied separately to the two compartments to assess hyphal uptake of Cd. Neither Cd nor P addition inhibited root colonization by the AM fungus, but Cd depressed plant biomass. Mycorrhizal colonization, P addition and increasing added Cd level led to lower Cd partitioning to the shoots. Plant P uptake was enhanced by mycorrhizal colonization at all Cd levels studied. When Cd was added to the plant compartment and P to the hyphal compartment, plant biomass increased with AM colonization and the mycorrhizal effect was more pronounced with increasing Cd addition. When P was added to the plant compartment and Cd to the hyphal compartment, plant biomass was little affected by AM colonization, but shoot Cd uptake was increased by colonization at the low Cd addition rate (25 mg kg–1) and lowered at the higher Cd rate (100 mg kg–1) but with no difference in root Cd uptake. These effects may have been due to immobilization of Cd by the fungal mycelium or effects of the AM fungus on rhizosphere physicochemical conditions and are discussed in relation to possible phytostabilization of contaminated sites by AM plants.  相似文献

We investigated if the plant growth promoting fungus Trichoderma harzianum Rifai 1295-22 (also known as “T22”) could be used to enhance the establishment and growth of crack willow (Salix fragilis) in a soil containing no organic or metal pollutants and in a metal-contaminated soil by comparing this fungus with noninoculated controls and an ectomycorrhizal formulation commercially used to enhance the establishment of tree saplings. Crack willow saplings were grown in a temperature-controlled growth room over a period of 5 weeks’ in a garden center topsoil and over 12 weeks in a soil which had been used for disposal of building materials and sewage sludge containing elevated levels of heavy metals including cadmium (30 mg kg−1), lead (350 mg kg−1), manganese (210 mg kg−1), nickel (210 mg kg−1), and zinc (1,100 mg kg−1). After 5 weeks’ growth in clean soil, saplings grown with T. harzianum T22 produced shoots and roots that were 40% longer than those of the controls and shoots that were 20% longer than those of saplings grown with ectomycorrhiza (ECM). T. harzianum T22 saplings produced more than double the dry biomass of controls and more than 50% extra biomass than the ECM-treated saplings. After 12 weeks’ growth, saplings grown with T. harzianum T22 in the metal-contaminated soil produced 39% more dry weight biomass and were 16% taller than the noninoculated controls. This is the first report of tree growth stimulation by application of Trichoderma to roots, and is especially important as willow is a major source of wood fuel in the quest for renewable energy. These results also suggest willow trees inoculated with T. harzianum T22 could be used to increase the rate of revegetation and phytostabilization of metal-contaminated sites, a property of the fungus never previously demonstrated.  相似文献

The hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii Hance (S. alfredii) may be employed for zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd)-polluted soil remediation. However, the low phytoremediation efficiency, related to the low biomass production, limits its use with that purpose. In this experiment, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) fertilizers, and organic manure were applied to investigate the phytoremediation ability of S. alfredii. Hydroponic and pot experiments were conducted using Zn-Cd polluted soil. The hydroponic experiment indicated that appropriate fertilizer application could increase (p < 0.05) the amount of accumulated Zn and Cd in S. alfredii. When N supply ranged from 0.5 to 2.5 mmol L−1, it could improve growth and accumulation of Zn and Cd in whole plants of S. alfredii. The 1 mmol L-1 N was an optimal N dosage for shoot biomass production and Cd accumulation in shoots, while the 2.5 mmol L-1 was an optimal N dosage for Zn accumulation in shoots. Both low (<0.05 mmol L-1) and high (>0.8 mmol L-1) P supply decreased growth, and Zn/Cd accumulation in whole plants of the studied species. The 0.1 mmol L-1 P was an optimal dosage for S. alfredii biomass production and Zn/Cd accumulation in shoots. The supply levels within the range from 0.3 to 1 mmol L-1 K could significantly improve the biomass production of S. alfredii and its capability to accumulate Zn and Cd in the biomass. The 0.5 mmol L-1 K was an optimal dosage for the whole biomass production and Zn accumulation in shoots, while the 1 mmol L-1 was an optimal K dosage for Zn accumulation in shoots, which was 17.2% higher than the control. Moreover, the soil pot experiment showed that the combination of organic (fermented manure) and inorganic fertilizers made significant effects on the Zn and Cd-polluted soil remediation by S. alfredii. These effects varied, however, with the application of different proportions of N, P, K and organic matter. The Zn accumulation by S. alfredii reached the highest efficiency ability under the highest fertilizer mixing rate (N: 50 mg kg-1, P: 40 mg kg-1, K: 100 mg kg-1, organic matter: 1%). Even more, S. alfredii showed the strongest ability to accumulate Cd with a lower fertilizer mixing rate (N: 25mg kg-1, P: 20mg kg-1, K: 50 mg kg-1, organic matter: 0.5%).

Experiments in semi-natural conditions were undertaken to assess hemp metal tolerance and its ability to accumulate cadmium, nickel and chromium. Cannabis sativa was grown in two soils, S1 and S2, containing 27, 74, 126 and 82, 115, 139 g g–1 of Cd, Ni and Cr, respectively. After two months from germination and at ripeness, no significant alteration in plant growth or morphology was detected. On the contrary, a high hemp reactivity to heavy metal stress with an increase in phytochelatin and DNA content was observed during development, suggesting the Cannabis sativa ability to avoid cell damage by activating different molecular mechanisms. Metals were preferentially accumulated in the roots and only partially translocated to the above-ground tissues. The mean shoot Cd content was 14 and 66 g g–1 for S1 and S2 soil, respectively. Although not negligible concentrations they were about 100 times lower than those calculated for the hyperaccumulator Thlaspi caerulescens. Similarly Ni uptake was limited if compared with that of the Ni-hyperaccumulator Alyssum murale. Chromium uptake was negligible. As expected on the base of the metal concentration detected in ripe plants, no statistically significant variation in soil metal content was detected after one crop of hemp. Nevertheless, a consistent amount (g) of Cd and Ni is expected to be extracted by 1 ha biomass of hemp (about 10 t) per year and along the time a slow restoration of deeper soil portions can be obtained by its wide root system (at least 0,5 m deep). In addition, the possibilities of growing hemp easily in different climates and using its biomass in non-food industries can make heavy metal contaminated soils productive. This means economical advantage along with a better quality of soil.  相似文献

The feasibility of combined phytoextraction and in situ washing of soil contaminated with Pb (1750 mg kg–1), Zn (1300 mg kg–1), and Cd (7.2 mg kg–1), induced by the addition of biodegradable chelator, [S,S] stereoisomere of ethylenediamine discuccinate ([S,S]-EDDS), was tested in soil columns with hemp (Cannabis sativa) as the phytoextracting plant. The addition of [S,S]-EDDS (10 mmol kg–1 dry soil) yielded concentrations of 1026±442, 330.3±114.7 and 3.84±1.55 mg kg–1 of Pb, Zn and Cd in the dry above-ground plant biomass, respectively. These concentrations were 1926, 7.5, and 11 times higher, respectively, compared to treatments with no chelator addition. Horizontal permeable barriers, composed of a 3 cm high layer of nutrient enriched sawdust and vermiculite mixture, and a 3 cm layer of soil, vermiculite and apatite mixture, were positioned 20, 30 and 40 cm deep in the soil. In chelator treatments, barriers placed 30 cm deep reduced leaching of Pb, Zn and Cd by 435, 4 and 53 times, respectively, compared to columns with no barrier, where 3.0, 4.3 and 3.3% of total initial Pb, Zn and Cd, respectively, was leached during 6-weeks water irrigation after chelator addition. Lower positioned barriers were almost equally effective in preventing leaching of Pb than barriers positioned closer to the soil surface, less effective for Cd, and did not prevent leaching of Zn. 2.53% of total initial Pb and 2.83% of Cd was washed from the contaminated soil and accumulated into the barrier. Combined method was less effective than simulated ex situ soil washing, where 14.2, 5.5 and 24.5% of Pb, Zn and Cd, respectively, were removed after 1-h extraction, but comparable effective to 48-h extraction. Abbreviations: BCF – bioconcentration factor; EDTA – ethylene diaminetetraacetate; HM – heavy metal; PP – phytoextraction potential; [S,S]-EDDS – [S,S]-ethylenediamine disuccinate.  相似文献

To investigate the phytoextraction potential of Populus alba L. var. pyramidalis Bunge for cadmium (Cd) contaminated calcareous soils, a concentration gradient experiment and a field sampling experiment (involving poplars of different ages) were conducted. The translocation factors for all experiments and treatments were greater than 1. The bioconcentration factor decreased from 2.37 to 0.25 with increasing soil Cd concentration in the concentration gradient experiment and generally decreased with stand age under field conditions. The Cd concentrations in P. pyramidalis organs decreased in the order of leaves > stems > roots. The shoot biomass production in the concentration gradient experiment was not significantly reduced with soil Cd concentrations up to or slightly over 50 mg kg–1. The results show that the phytoextraction efficiency of P. pyramidalis depends on both the soil Cd concentration and the tree age. Populus pyramidalis is most suitable for remediation of slightly Cd contaminated calcareous soils through the combined harvest of stems and leaves under actual field conditions.

This study evaluated the influence of diets supplemented with 500, 800, 1200 mg kg− 1 of vitamin C (ascorbic acid or AA) and vitamin E (α-tocopherol or α-T) on the physiological responses of pirarucu fed for 2 months. Weight and mortality were not affected by dietary vitamin type or their concentrations. Significant increase (p < 0.05) on the red blood cells count was obtained on treatments with 800 and 1200 mg AA kg− 1 and on the hemoglobin concentration on treatment with 500 mg α-T kg− 1 relatively to control. Mean corpuscular volume presented a significant decrease (p < 0.05) on treatment with 800 and 1200 mg AA kg−1 when compared to control. Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration was significantly high (p < 0.05) on treatment with 500 mg α-T kg− 1. Only in vitamin C treatments, we noticed a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the number of leucocytes relative to control. All fish in the vitamin-supplemented treatments, except 500 mg AA kg− 1, had high total protein values compared to control. Fish treated with 800 or 1200 mg α-T kg− 1 also showed increases in plasma glucose concentrations. Our results suggest that 800 and 1200 mg AA kg− 1 are probably the most suitable concentrations for pirarucu diets, although high vitamin E diets are not necessary for quantitative leucocyte increases for this species.  相似文献

Miniature heat balance-sap flow gauges were used to measure water flows in small-diameter roots (3–4 mm) in the undisturbed soil of a mature beech–oak–spruce mixed stand. By relating sap flow to the surface area of all branch fine roots distal to the gauge, we were able to calculate real time water uptake rates per root surface area (Js) for individual fine root systems of 0.5–1.0 m in length. Study aims were (i) to quantify root water uptake of mature trees under field conditions with respect to average rates, and diurnal and seasonal changes of Js, and (ii) to investigate the relationship between uptake and soil moisture θ, atmospheric saturation deficit D, and radiation I. On most days, water uptake followed the diurnal course of D with a mid-day peak and low night flow. Neighbouring roots of the same species differed up to 10-fold in their daily totals of Js (<100–2000 g m−2 d−1) indicating a large spatial heterogeneity in uptake. Beech, oak and spruce roots revealed different seasonal patterns of water uptake although they were extracting water from the same soil volume. Multiple regression analyses on the influence of D, I and θ on root water uptake showed that D was the single most influential environmental factor in beech and oak (variable selection in 77% and 79% of the investigated roots), whereas D was less important in spruce roots (50% variable selection). A comparison of root water uptake with synchronous leaf transpiration (porometer data) indicated that average water fluxes per surface area in the beech and oak trees were about 2.5 and 5.5 times smaller on the uptake side (roots) than on the loss side (leaves) given that all branch roots <2 mm were equally participating in uptake. Beech fine roots showed maximal uptake rates on mid-summer days in the range of 48–205 g m−2 h−1 (i.e. 0.7–3.2 mmol m−2 s−1), oak of 12–160 g m−2 h−1 (0.2–2.5 mmol m−2 s−1). Maximal transpiration rates ranged from 3 to 5 and from 5 to 6 mmol m−2 s−1 for sun canopy leaves of beech and oak, respectively. We conclude that instantaneous rates of root water uptake in beech, oak and spruce trees are above all controlled by atmospheric factors. The effects of different root conductivities, soil moisture, and soil hydraulic properties become increasingly important if time spans longer than a week are considered.  相似文献

In a pot-soil culture ameliorative effect of sulphur (S) (0 or 40 mg S kg−1 soil) on cadmium (Cd) (0, 25, 50 and 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil)-induced growth inhibition and oxidative stress in mustard (Brassica campestris L.) cultivar Pusa Gold was studied. Cadmium at 100 mg kg−1 soil caused maximum increase in the contents of Cd and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in leaves. Maximum reductions in growth (plant dry mass, leaf area), chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate (PN) and the contents of ascorbate (AsA), glutathione (GSH) were observed with 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil compared to control. The application of S helped in reducing Cd toxicity, which was greater for 25 and 50 mg Cd kg−1 soil) compared to 100 mg Cd kg−1 soil. Addition of S to Cd-treated plants showed decrease in Cd and TBARS content in leaves and restoration of growth and photosynthesis through increase in the contents of AsA and GSH. Net photosynthetic rate and plant dry mass were strongly and positively correlated with the contents of AsA and GSH. It is suggested that S may ameliorate Cd toxicity and protects growth and photosynthesis of mustard involving AsA and GSH.  相似文献

Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) plants infected by the fungal endophyte Neotyphodium coenophialum (Morgan-Jones & Gams) (Glenn et al., 1996) often perform better than noninfected plants, especially in marginal resource environments. There is a lack of information about endophyte related effects on the rhizosphere of grasses. In a greenhouse experiment, four endophyte-infected (E+) tall fescue clones (DN2, DN4, DN7, DN11) and their endophyte-free (E–) forms were grown in limed (pH 6.3) Porter soil (low fertility, acidic, high aluminum and low phosphorus content, coarse-loamy mixed mesic Umbric Dystrochrept) at three soil P levels (17, 50, and 96 mg P kg-1 soil) for five months. Excluding the genotype effect, endophyte infection significantly increased cumulative herbage DM yield by 8% at 17 mg P kg-1 soil but reduced cumulative herbage DM yield by 12% at 96 mg P kg-1 soil. With increased P availability in the soil, shoot and root DM, and root/shoot ratio in E+ plants were significantly less when compared to E– plants. Endophyte infection increased specific root length at 17 and 50 mg P kg-1soil. At soil P level of 17 mg P kg-1soil, E+ plants had significantly higher P concentrations both in roots and shoots. Similar relationships were found for Mg and Ca. E+ plants had significantly higher Zn, Fe, and Al concentration in roots, and lower Mn and Al concentration in shoots when compared to E– plants. Ergot alkaloid concentration and content in shoot of E+ plants increased with increasing P availability in the soil from 17 to 50 mg P kg-1 but declined again at 96 mg P kg-1 soil. Ergot alkaloid accumulation in roots increased linearly with P availability in the soil. Results suggest that endophyte infection affects uptake of phosphorus and other mineral nutrients and may benefit tall fescue grown on P-deficient soils. Phosphorus seems also to be involved in ergot alkaloid accumulation in endophyte-infected tall fescue.  相似文献

A recombinant allophycocyanin (rAPC), used for treatment of tumors, has been expressed in E. coli which was grown in glucose fed-batch culture in a 30 l fermentor. Recombinant allophycocyanin was purified from soluble E. coli cell lysate using hydrophobic interaction chromatography followed by chromatography using amylose affinity column. The purity of product was greater than 98% and yielded an average of 5.5 g kg−1 dry cells. Recombinant allophycocyanin significantly inhibited H22 hepatoma (p ( 0.01) in mice with inhibition rates ranging from 36% to 62% with doses from 6.25 to 50 mg kg−1 d−1.  相似文献

Earlier research has shown that exogenous gibberellic acid (GA3) application increases shoot growth, photosynthesis and soil nitrogen (N) utilisation in mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss.). Mustard has a high sulfur (S) requirement. Its assimilatory pathway is well coordinated with N and dependent on photosynthesis. Thus, the higher photosynthate production and an efficient use of N with the use of GA3 could result in an increase in S-use efficiency of the crop. The research was, therefore, carried out to study the effects of 10~M GA3 spray on specific leaf area, plant dry mass, leaf carbon dioxide exchange rate (CER), plant growth rate (PGR), relative growth rate (RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR) and S-use efficiency (SUE) of mustard treated with 0, 100 or 200 mg S kg–1 soil levels. Plants treated with 100~mg S kg–1 soil and receiving GA3 treatment showed increased specific leaf area and dry mass accumulation compared to the control. At 0~mg S kg–1 soil, N and S concentrations were reduced. They increased with increasing S supply. GA3 application significantly increased N and S concentrations further. A two-fold increase in SUE in GA3-treated plants at 100~mg S kg–1 soil was noted in comparison to the control. SUE was not increased under excess S conditions beyond 100~mg S kg–1 soil. The increase in SUE was through increase in the growth, CER and use efficiency of N by the crop due to GA3 application.  相似文献

Pulmonary responses to intravenous leukotrienes C4, D4 and E4 administered as a bolus injection and by continuous infusion were studied in anesthetized guinea pigs. LTD4, LTC4 and LTE4 (respective ED50 of 0.21 ± .1, 0.64 ± .2 and 2.0 ± .1 μg kg−1) produced dose-dependent increases in insufflation pressure when given as a bolus injection to anesthetized guinea pigs (Konzett-Rössler). Bronchoconstriction was antagonized by FPL-55712 (50–200 μg kg−1), and indomethacin (50–200 μg kg−1) but was not significantly altered by mepyramine (1.0 mg kg−1), methysergide (0.1 mg kg−1), intal (10 mg kg−1) mepacrine (5 mg kg−1) or dexamethasone (10 mg kg−1). The beta adrenoceptor blocker, timolol (5 μg kg−1) produced a significantly greater potentiation of the responses to the leukotrienes than to arachidonic acid, histamine and acetylcholine. Responses to bolus injection of LTE4 but not LTD4 or LTC4 were partially antagonized by atropine (100 μg kg−1) and bilateral vagotomy. In experiments of a different design, continuous infusion of LTD4 and LTE4 (2.8–3.2 μg kg−1 min−1) into indomethacin-treated animals produced slowly developing increases in pulmonary resistance and decreases in compliance. The increase in resistance produced by LTE4 and LTD4 was partly reversed by intravenous FPL-55712 (1.0 mg kg−1) and atropine (100 μg kg−1) but was almost completely reversed by FPL-55712 (3 – 10 mg kg−1). These findings indicate that leukotrienes can produce bronchoconstriction in guinea pigs through cyclooxygenase-dependent and cyclooxygenase independent mechanisms both of which are blocked by FPL-55712. Cholinergic mechanisms are involved in the mediation of part of the response to bolus injection of LTE4 as well as a small part of the initial response to continuous infusion of LTD4 and LTE4. Intrinsic beta adrenoceptor activation serves to down modulate responses to the leukotrienes to a greater extent than responses to arachidonic acid, histamine and acetylcholine.  相似文献
