The occipital cortex was dissected from the brain of rats housed in either enriched or impoverished environment for four weeks. In environmentally enriched rats the weight of occipital cortex was found to be increased 5.7%, compared to environmentally improverished rats, and the amount of protein was increased 6.0%. The amount of six nervous system-specific proteins was measured by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. Synaptin increased 4.7%, D3 increased 8.3%, and D1 increased 9.6%, whereas D2 was not significantly increased. Compared to D2, D3 and D1 were still increased significantly, although all were present in synaptosomal membrane fractions. The protein S-100 was increased 3.4% and the neuronal protein 14-3-2 was increased 12.2% for the cathodal component whereas the anodal component was not increased. The results were interpreted as representing delayed development of environment-dependent neurons in the environmentally impovershed rats.  相似文献

The diabetic state confers an increased propensity to accelerated atherogenesis. In addition to the established risk factors, there is evidence for increased oxidative stress and inflammation in diabetes. Increased oxidative stress is manifested by increased lipid peroxidation (e.g. increased F 2 -isoprostanes) and increased DNA damage. Evidence for increased inflammation includes increased monocyte superoxide and pro-inflammatory cytokine release (IL-1, IL-6, and TNF- &#102 ), increased monocyte adhesion to endothelium and increased levels of plasma C-reactive protein, the prototypic marker of inflammation. Most importantly, alpha tocopherol therapy, especially at high doses, clearly shows a benefit with regards to LDL oxidation, isoprostanes and a decrease in inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein, pro-inflammatory cytokines and PAI-1 levels. Thus, it appears that, in diabetes, alpha tocopherol therapy could emerge as an additional therapeutic modality.  相似文献

A pot culture experiment was conducted on a loamy sand soil to study the effect of FYM and Fe on dry matter yield and uptake of nutrients by oats (Avena sativa) crop in green-house. Application of Fe @ 5 and 20 ppm increased dry matter yield by 5.11 and 11.55 per cent, respectively. The per cent increase in dry matter yield over control with the application of 0.5 and 1.0 percent FYM was 19.06 and 30.07, respectively. Application of FYM increased concentration and uptake of P significantly. Phosphorus uptake increased by 23.60, 54.38, 91.01 and 134.61 per cent over control with 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 per cent FYM, respectively. Phosphorus concentration decreased at 20 ppm Fe but uptake increased significantly at 5 ppm Fe. Concentration and uptake of Ca increased with increasing amounts of Fe and application of FYM decreased concentration of Ca but uptake increased upto 1.0 per cent FYM over control. The Mg concentration and uptake decreased significantly with increased amount of Fe. Application of FYM also decreased Mg concentration but its uptake increased upto 1.0 per cent FYM and then decreased.Iron concentration and uptake increased upto 2 per cent FYM and then decreased. Whereas concentration of Fe decreased with increased amount of applied Fe but its uptake increased nonsignificantly with increased amount of added Fe.Managenese concentration and uptake decreased significantly with increased amount of applied Fe. Managenese concentration increased upto 0.5 per cent FYM but its uptake continued increasing with increasing amounts of applied FYM.  相似文献

分别以PEG-6000、NaCl模拟干旱胁迫及盐胁迫,采用水培方法研究了抗旱耐盐冬小麦沧-6001在干旱胁迫、盐胁迫条件下叶片可溶性糖、脯氨酸和可溶性蛋白质含量的动态变化以及Na+、K+在地上部和根系的分布。结果表明可溶性糖和可溶性蛋白变化趋势相似,其含量随干旱胁迫或盐胁迫时间延长而增加,但在胁迫处理后期下降,并且随胁迫强度增加,二者出现下降时间提前;脯氨酸在干旱胁迫条件下快速积累达到峰值后下降但在胁迫处理后期再次增加,在盐胁迫条件下,随胁迫强度的增加和胁迫时间的延长而增加;Na+在干旱胁迫下随胁迫程度增加而下降,盐胁迫条件下随胁迫程度的增加而增加,K+在干旱胁迫或盐胁迫下均随胁迫程度的增加而下降,且在根系中下降的速度大于地上部。  相似文献

选用籽粒蛋白质含量不同的小麦(Triticum aestivum)品种,运用离体穗培养技术,研究了谷氨酰胺供应水平对小麦穗籽粒重、淀粉和蛋白质及其组分积累的影响.实验结果表明,随着培养基中谷氨酰胺供应水平的提高,粒重、籽粒淀粉和蛋白质积累量均呈单峰曲线,在6 g·L-1谷氨酰胺水平时达到最大值;籽粒氨基酸和蛋白质含量随谷氨酰胺浓度的提高呈上升趋势,而淀粉含量呈下降趋势.籽粒清蛋白和球蛋白含量的变化与总蛋白质含量变化趋势一致,而醇溶蛋白和麦谷蛋白含量在2~6 g·L-1谷氨酰胺浓度范围内呈上升趋势,此后则无明显变化.  相似文献

Deficit irrigation in winter wheat has been practiced in the areas with limited irrigation water resources. The objectives of this study were to (i) understand the physiological basis for determinations of grain yield and water-use efficiency in grain yield (WUE) under deficit irrigation; and (ii) investigate the effect of deficit irrigation on dry matter accumulation and remobilization of pre-anthesis carbon reserves during grain filling. A field experiment was conducted in the Southern High Plains of the USA and winter wheat (cv. TAM 202) was grown on Pullman clay loam soil (fine mixed thermic Torretic Paleustoll). Treatments consisted of rain-fed, deficit irrigation from jointing to the middle of grain filling, and full irrigation. The physiological measurements included leaf water potential, net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), and leaf area index. The rain-fed treatment had the lowest seasonal evapotranspiration (ET), biomass, grain yield, harvest index (HI) and WUE as a result of moderate to severe water stress from jointing to grain filling. Irrigation application increased seasonal ET, and ET increased as irrigation frequency increased. The seasonal ET increased 20% in one-irrigation treatments between jointing and anthesis, 32-46% in two-irrigation treatments, and 67% in three- and full irrigation treatments. Plant biomass, grain yield, HI and WUE increased as the result of increased ET. The increased yield under irrigation was mainly contributed by the increased number of spikes, and seeds per square meter and per spike. Among the irrigation treatments, grain yield increased significantly but the WUE increased slightly as irrigation frequency increased. The increased WUE under deficit irrigation was contributed by increased HI. Water stress during grain filling reduced Pn and Gs, and accelerated leaf senescence. However, the water stress during grain filling induced remobilization of pre-anthesis carbon reserves to grains, and the remobilization of pre-anthesis carbon reserves significantly contributed to the increased grain yield and HI. The results of this study showed that deficit irrigation between jointing and anthesis significantly increased wheat yield and WUE through increasing both current photosynthesis and the remobilization of pre-anthesis carbon reserves.  相似文献

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection of endothelial cells resulted in increased adhesion of the cells to peripheral blood leukocytes. It was demonstrated by flow cytometry that increased adhesiveness parallels the increased expression of cell surface adhesion molecules (ELAM-1, ICAM-1, VCAM-1). The increased adhesion of PMN and T-lymphocytes was due to upregulation in the expression of ELAM-1 and ICAM-1. The upregulation of VCAM-1 resulted in the increased adhesiveness of monocytes and T-lymphocytes to HCMV-infected HUVEC. The increased adhesiveness to leukocytes was caused by HCMV replication since endothelial cells exposed to HCMV-free supernatants and UV-inactivated HCMV did not show any increase in adhesiveness to any of the leukocytes tested.  相似文献

Cystic fibrosis patients and their parents have increased alpha-adrenergic sensitivity, increased cholinergic sensitivity, and reduced beta-adrenergic sensitivity. This combination of autonomic aberrations has been associated with increased airway reactivity in other disease populations. Although studies of airway reactivity are difficult to interpret in the cystic fibrosis patients themselves, the parents have no apparent pulmonary infection or inflammation, and one-third of these people have increased airway reactivity. Moreover, parents of children with cystic fibrosis have increased prevalence of wheezing and lung disease in childhood. Airway reactivity has been associated in other populations, with increased risk of obstructive pulmonary disease. Further studies are required to test the hypothesis that heterozygosity for CF is a risk factor for development and progression of obstructive pulmonary disease.  相似文献

经多年观察比较,新桑品种“川826”表现出遗传性状稳定、优质、高产、抗性较好等优点,2000年正式列为“十五”省农作物育种攻关项目“优质、高产桑、蚕新品种选育”中桑主攻品种,并进一步进行区域性比较试验。经过2002年至2005年在四川省乐山、三台、蚕研所等三点的比较试验和在四川篷安生产示范点的示范繁殖,“川826”与对照品种“湖32”相比,其产叶量高13.95%,万头产茧量高8.88%,万头产茧层量高8.8%,五龄担桑产茧量高13.51%,667 m2(亩)桑产茧量高28.2%,桑产茧层量高27.6%。特别是用“川826”桑叶养蚕后产卵制种成绩尤为突出,单蛾产卵量比对照高6.87%以上,单蛾正常卵粒数比对照高5.63%以上。2006年4月被四川省农作物品种审定委员会审定为合格品种。  相似文献

The extracellular concentrations of adenosine are increased during sepsis, and adenosine receptors regulate the host's response to sepsis. In this study, we investigated the role of the adenosine-generating ectoenzyme, ecto-5'-nucleotidase (CD73), in regulating immune and organ function during sepsis. Polymicrobial sepsis was induced by subjecting CD73 knockout (KO) and wild type (WT) mice to cecal ligation and puncture. CD73 KO mice showed increased mortality in comparison with WT mice, which was associated with increased bacterial counts and elevated inflammatory cytokine and chemokine concentrations in the blood and peritoneum. CD73 deficiency promoted lung injury, as indicated by increased myeloperoxidase activity and neutrophil infiltration, and elevated pulmonary cytokine levels. CD73 KO mice had increased apoptosis in the thymus, as evidenced by increased cleavage of caspase-3 and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase and increased activation of NF-κB. Septic CD73 KO mice had higher blood urea nitrogen levels and increased cytokine levels in the kidney, indicating increased renal dysfunction. The increased kidney injury of CD73 KO mice was associated with augmented activation of p38 MAPK and decreased phosphorylation of Akt. Pharmacological inactivation of CD73 in WT mice using α, β-methylene ADP augmented cytokine levels in the blood and peritoneal lavage fluid. These findings suggest that CD73-derived adenosine may be beneficial in sepsis.  相似文献

Parenchymal hepatocytes isolated from lactating rats had similar rates of amino acid incorporation into protein, but increased rates of urea formation compared to hepatocytes from non-lactating rats. In this work, we investigated whether cold exposure-induced hyperthyroidism increases oxidative damage and susceptibility to oxidants of rat liver, heart and skeletal muscle. All tissues exhibited gradual increases in hydroperoxide and protein-bound carbonyl levels. Glutathione peroxidase activity increased in all tissues after 2 days and further increased in the muscle after 10 days of cold exposure. Liver glutathione reductase activity increased after 10 days of cold exposure, while heart and muscle activities were not modified. Vitamin E levels were not affected by cold, while coenzyme Q9 and coenzyme Q10 levels decreased in heart and muscle after 2-day cold exposure and were not further modified after 10 days. Liver coenzyme Q9 levels increased after 2 days whereas coenzyme Q10 levels increased after 10 days in the cold. The whole antioxidant capacity was lowered, while parameters positively correlated with susceptibility to oxidants were increased by cold. Lipid fatty acid composition was modified in all tissues. In particular, fatty acid unsaturation degree increased in heart and muscle. Cytochrome oxidase activity increased, suggesting an increased content of hemoproteins, which are able to generate .OH radical. This view was supported by the observation that the tissue susceptibility to H(2)O(2) treatment, which is strongly correlated to iron-ligand content, increased after cold exposure. In this frame, it is apparent that the increase in oxidative capacity, necessary for homeotherm survival in low temperature environments, has potential harmful effects, because it results in increased susceptibility to oxidative challenge.  相似文献

In sheep, the trophectoderm of the elongating conceptus secretes interferon tau (IFNT) and prostaglandins (PGE2, PGF2alpha, PGI2). The PGs are derived from PG synthase 2 (PTGS2), and inhibition of PTGS2 in utero prevents conceptus elongation. IFNT increases expression of many genes in the endometrial epithelia that regulate conceptus elongation. This study tested the hypothesis that PGs secreted by the conceptus regulate endometrial functions that govern conceptus elongation. Cyclic ewes received intrauterine infusions of control vehicle or early pregnancy levels of IFNT, PGE2, PGF2alpha, or PGI2 from Days 10-14 postestrus. Expression levels of endometrial GRP, IGFBP1, and LGALS15, whose products stimulate trophectoderm cell migration and attachment, were increased by PGE2, PGI2, and IFNT. All PGs and IFNT increased expression of the HEXB protease gene, but only IFNT increased the CST6 protease inhibitor gene. Differential effects of PGs were observed for expression of the CTSL protease gene and its inhibitor, CST3. IFNT, PGF2alpha, and PGI2 increased ANGPTL3 expression, but only IFNT and PGE2 increased HIF1A expression, both of which regulate angiogenesis. For glucose transporters, IFNT and all PGs increased SLC2A1 expression, but only PGs increased SLC2A5 expression, whereas endometrial SLC2A12 and SLC5A1 expression levels were increased by IFNT, PGE2, and PGF2alpha. Infusions of all PGs and IFNT increased the amino acid transporter SLC1A5, but only IFNT increased SLC7A2 expression. In the uterine lumen, only IFNT increased glucose levels, and only PGE2 and PGF2alpha increased total amino acids. These results indicate that PGs and IFNT from the conceptus coordinately regulate endometrial functions important for growth and development of the conceptus during the peri-implantation period of pregnancy.  相似文献

A study has been made of the effects of xanthine derivative (pentoxifylline) upon the general and cardiac haemodynamics of intact anaesthetised dogs. The drug increased heart-rate, respiration rate, cardiac output and systemic pressure. It reduced mean pulmonary arterial pressure. Coronary flow was increased for only a few minutes, but coronary sinus O2 content increased throughout the study. Lactate and pyruvate values increased in both artery and coronary sinus, as did the cardiac extraction of these substances. Cardiac extraction of non-esterified fatty acid increased.  相似文献
