Four different types of trypanorhynch postlarvae were found attached to the stomach mucosa, external stomach wall or free in the body cavity of two marine fishes from Madeira, namely blackscabbard fish, Aphanopus carbo and oceanic horse mackerel, Trachurus picturatus. Morphological features shown by SEM indicated that the postlarvae belonged to the species Tentacularia coryphaenae, Sphyriocephalus tergestinus, Nybelinia lingualis and possibly N. yamaguitii. Prevalence [mean intensity (range)] of T. coryphaenae, S. tergestinus and Nybelinia spp. in A. carbo (n = 135) was 12.6% [1.65 +/- 1.27(1-6)], 5.9% [1.57 +/- 0.79 (1-3)] and 2.2% [1.33 +/- 0.58 (1-2)] respectively. The prevalence of T. coryphaenae and S. tergestinus showed some seasonality, with a rise in prevalence of T. coryphaenae corresponding to a decrease in prevalence of S. tergestinus. However these differences were not significant. In T. picturatus (n = 304) only N. lingualis was found at a prevalence of 9.6%. Both S. tergestinus and N. lingualis were recovered only from the stomach mucosa or external stomach wall, while T. coryphaenae was observed either attached to the stomach mucosa or free in the visceral cavity of the fish. The paper presents the first scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of Sphyriocephalus tergestinus and a new geographical record of N. lingualis in T. picturatus.  相似文献

The present taxonomic revision recognizes 16 species of Exalloniscus. Seven species, namely E. maschwitzi, E, caudatvs, E. malaccensis, E. bicoloratus from West Malaysia, E. bomeanus from East Malaysia, E. beroni from northern Thailand and E. vietnamensis from Vietnam, are described as new. Lectotypes off. coecus (Dollfus, 1898) and E. albus (Dollfus, 1898) are designated. Diagnostic characters of all the species are illustrated. A map and comments on the distribution and biology of the 16 species are included.  相似文献

Hitherto unknown metacercariae were found encysted in loaches (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) from China. They were experimentally fed to golden hamsters, and gravid adults were recovered 1 week post-infection from their small intestines. A new species, Massaliatrema misgurni n. sp. (Heterophyidae), is described from the adults. This new species is different from M. gyrinicola Dollfus and Timon-David, 1960, in having a smaller acetabulum/oral sucker ratio, less branched vitellaria widely entering the intercecal anteroacetabular area and an almost median seminal receptacle; and from M. yamashitai Kamiya and Ohbayashi, 1975, in having a larger acetabulum/oral sucker ratio, with the seminal vesicle situated in the uterine loop and the vitellaria entering the intercecal anteroacetabular area. This report is the first record of M. anguillicaudatus as a second intermediate host of the genus Massaliatrema Dollfus and Timon-David, 1960.  相似文献

Species allocated to the digenean genera Enenterum Linton, 1910 ; Jeancadenatia Dollfus, 1946 ; Cadenatella Dollfus, 1946 ; and Koseiria form a clade within the Lepocreadiidae whose sister group is a clade comprising Neoallolepidapedon Yamaguti, 1965, Callogonotrema , Oshmarin, 1965, Allolepidapedon Yamaguti, 1940, and Bulbocirrus Oshmarin, 1965. Phylogenetic analysis of the Enenterinae based on comparative morphology, produced one most parsimonious tree with a consistency index of 0.72. Cadenatella is paraphyletic. Only 15.3% of character changes are evolutionary losses, supporting earlier reports that parasitic platyhelminths have experienced little secondary simplification during their evolutionary history. The Enenterinae appears to have originated in the Pacific Ocean, becoming associated with kyphosid fishes as a result of an ancient host switch. Subsequent evolutionary diversification reflects widespread geographical dispersal, consistent with the natural history of kyphosids.  相似文献

Three new genera of trypanorhynch cestodes from Australian elasmobranch fishes collected in the Arafura Sea, off the Northern Territory, are described. Fossobothrium perplexum n. g., n. sp. (Otobothriidae), from the spiral valves of Anoxypristis cuspidata (Latham) and Pristis zijsron Bleeker, is similar to the otobothriid genera Pseudotobothrium Dollfus, 1942 and Poecilancistrium Dollfus, 1929 in possessing bothrial pits and a band of hooks on the tentacle, but differs from all known otobothriid genera in having the pits joined by a prominent velum. Iobothrium elegans n. g., n. sp. (Otobothriidae), from the spiral valve of Himantura jenkinsi (Annandale), is placed in the Otobothriidae because it possesses bothrial pits, but differs from Otobothrium Linton, 1890 and other genera in lacking intercalary hooks between the principal rows and in possessing a chainette on the external surface of the tentacle in the metabasal region. Oncomegoides celatus n. g., n. sp. (Eutetrarhynchidae), from the spiral valve of Dasyatis microps (Annandale) and Himantura jenkinsi, resembles Oncomegas Dollfus, 1929 in possessing two bothria and a megahook on the bothrial surface of the basal armature, but differs in possessing an extra row consisting of four intercalary hooks formed by the overlapping of two intercalary hooks on the external tentacular surface between each of the opposing principal rows and is therefore an atypical heteroacanth.  相似文献

Chimaerarhynchus rougetae n. g., n. sp. is described fromSqualus acanthias andCentrophorus sp. from the coast of Senegal, and differs from all other trypanorhynch genera in having a chainette composed of dissimilar elements, that is, double-winged hooks alternating with pairs of hooks each with a single lateral wing. The new genus is allocated to the Gymnorhynchidae Dollfus, 1935.Patellobothrium quinquecatenatum n.g., n. sp. is described from the spiral intestine ofSphyrna mokarran from Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia and plerocerci fromRachycentron canadus from Queensland, Australia. The genus is distinguished from all others in possessing five chainettes. It is allocated to the family Mustelicolidae Dollfus, 1969. The relationships of all genera of trypanorhynchs possessing chainettes are discussed, and they are divided into three groups: (1) Dasyrhynchidae Dollfus, 1935, Lacistorhynchidae Guiart, 1927, Mustelicolidae and Hornelliellidae Yamaguti, 1954 are considered closely related since all genera possess two bothridia, a hermaphroditic duct and have hollow hooks; (2) Gymnorhynchidae, amended to contain onlyGymnorhynchus Rudolphi, 1819 andChimaerarhynchus n.g., is distinct in possessing four bothridia, an accessory seminal vesicle and hollow hooks; (3) Mixodigmatidae Dailey & Vogelbein, 1982, amended to includeMixodigma Dailey & Vogelbein, 1982 andHalysiorhynchus Pintner, 1913 has four bothridia, lacks seminal vesicles and a hermaphroditic duct and has solid hooks.A new family Molicolidae n. fam. is erected forMolicola Dollfus, 1935 andStragulorhynchus Beveridge & Campbell, 1988. The new family has a poeciloacanthous armature, and is distinguished by possessing a band of hooks on the external surface of the tentacle, four sessile bothridia and an acessory seminal vesicle.Myrmillorhynchus Bilqees, 1980 is suppressed as a synonym ofPterobothrium Diesing, 1850.Neogymnorhynchus Bilquees & Shah, 1982, is suppressed as a synonym ofPterobothrium, with the type species,N. platycephali becoming a synonym ofP. heteracanthum Diesing, 1850.Eulacistorhynchus Subhapradha, 1957 is considered agenus inquirendum;Gymnorhynchus cymbiumi Chincholikar & Shinde, 1977 is also a synonym ofPterobothrium heteracanthum Diesing, 1850.  相似文献

Abyssotrema pritchardae gen. et sp. n. is described from the benthic teleost, Alepocephalus agassizi Goode and Bean 1883 (Alepocephalidae), taken from Hudson Canyon in the western North Atlantic. The new genus is placed in the subfamily Monascinae Dollfus 1947 and relationships among Abyssotrema, Elopsium Fischthal and Thomas 1972, and Monascus Looss 1907 are discussed.  相似文献

Two new species of Grillotia are described from elasmobranch and teleost fishes from south-eastern Australia. G. australis n. sp., from the Australian angel shark Squatina australis. Regan, most closely resembles G. smarisgora (Wagener, 1854) and G. angeli Dollfus, 1969, differing from both species in the presence of smaller bulbs, two or occasionally three hooks in each intercalary row in the basal region, reduced to one in the metabasal region compared with four or five hooks in the metabasal region of G. smarisgora and a single hook in G. angeli, and in the limited extent of the band of hooklets on the external surface in the basal region of the tentacle, a region which is covered with hooks in G. smarisgora. Plerocerci of this species were found in the mackerel Trachurus declivis (Jenys) (site not known) from Tasmania. G. pristiophori n. sp., from the saw sharks Pristiophorus cirratus (Latham) and P. nudipinnis Günther, most closely resembles G. spinosissima Dollfus, 1969 in possessing a scolex covered with spiniform microtriches, but differs in having six rather than five hooks in each principal row, no intercalary hooks and by possessing a band of hooklets on the external surface of the tentacle which diminishes distally into a single file, rather than persisting as a band eight to nine files wide. G. pristiophori is the first trypanorhynch to be recorded from saw-sharks.  相似文献

Examination of teleost and elasmobranch fishes for cestodes from the Pacific Ocean off the Hawaiian Islands resulted in the recovery of 7 species of trypanorhynchs, 4 of which are new. The new species are Pseudogrillotia basipunctata, Pterobothrium hawaiiensis, Prochristianella micracantha, and Nybelinia basimegacantha. Tentacularia coryphaena Bosc 1797, Dasyrhynchus giganteus (Diesing 1859), and Parachristianella monomegacantha Kruse 1959 represent new host and distribution records. The family Pseudogrillotidae Dollfus 1969 is emended.  相似文献

Innervation of the tongue and associated musculature in plethodontid salamanders was studied using Palmgren stained sectioned materials, fresh dissection, and whole mounts of experimental specimens treated with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Species studied were chosen to represent modes of tongue projection recognized by Lombard and Wake ('77). Special attention was given to species of the genera Plethodon, Batrachoseps, Pseudoeurycea, and Hydromantes, but representatives of other genera were investigated. As expected we found that cranial nerves IX and X and spinal nerve 1 supplied the muscles involved in tongue movement. The peripheral courses of the nerves were traced, and both functionally related and phylogenetically determined routes were found. As relative projection length increases, the nerves supplying the tongue tip also increase in length. When the tongue is at rest the long nerves are stored in coils. The coil of ramus lingualis lies between the ceratobranchials, but that of ramus hypoglossus is more variable, although constant within a species. Ramus hypoglossus bifurcates into separate branches to tongue and anterior musculature of the floor of the mouth. In generalized, presumably primitive, modes the bifurcation and coiling are far anterior. In most of the tongue projection modes bifurcation is relatively posterior, but in one, bifurcation is anterior, but coiling is relatively posterior in position. The most unusual condition is in Hydromantes, in which bifurcation is relatively posterior and a coiled ramus hypoglossus joins a coiled ramus lingualis to form a unique, coiled common ramus to the tongue tip. Hydromantes has the greatest projection distance of any salamander.  相似文献

Christianella Guiart, 1931 (Cestoda: Trypanorhyncha) is redefined as a subgenus of Grillotia Guiart, 1927 based on the type-species, G. (C.) minuta (van Beneden, 1849), from the elasmobranch Squatina squatina (Linnaeus). Grillotia smarisgora (Wagener, 1854) is treated as a synonym of G. (C.) minuta, as are G. angeli Dollfus, 1969 and G. bothridiopunctata Dollfus, 1969. Other species included in the subgenus are G. (C.) carvajalregorum Menoret & Ivanov, 2009 (formerly Progrillotia dollfusi Carvajal & Rego, 1983), G. (C.) australis Beveridge & Campbell, 2001, G. (C.) longispinis (Linton, 1890) n. comb. (formerly Rhynchobothrium longispine Linton, 1890) and G. (C.) yuniariae Palm, 2004. The subgenus is similar to Grillotia Guiart, 1927 (sensu stricto), having two bothria and an atypical heteroacanthous armature, but differs in having a single row of intercalary hooks, fewer, elongate segments with testes often in longitudinal columns, a distinctive basal armature, an internal seminal vesicle which extends beyond the cirrus or hermaphroditic sac and no uterine pore. The adults of three species are known, all parasitising members of Squatina Duméril.  相似文献

Summary Lymphoid organs are highly organized structures made up of different tissue compartments, each with its own specific cell populations. However, the cellular elements of the lingual tonsil, which forms a significant part of Waldeyer's pharyngeal ring, are not yet documented. This study, therefore, describes the fine structure and tissue organization of tonsilla lingualis in Macaca fascicularis. Ten selected crypto-lymphatic units originating from five perfusion-fixed animals were analysed ultrastructurally. Based on the fine-structural elements contained within, the lymphoid tissue of tonsillar units could be subdivided into follicular (germinal centre) and parafollicular areas. The latter contained predominantly small lymphocytes, lymphoblasts resembling T-blasts, plasma cells, macrophages, occasional neutrophils and many reticular cells resembling fibroblasts. A distinct feature of the parafollicular area was the presence of numerous high endothelial (HEV)or postcapillary venules (PCV). The follicular areas contained many small and large lymphoid cells, mitotic cells, plasmablasts, macrophages and specialised reticular cells resembling follicular dendritic cells (FDC) with distinct desmosomal junctions. These observations show that the crypto-lymphatic units of the lingual tonsil are, in fact, organised into distinct B- and T-cell compartments with their own specific lymphoid and accessory cells.  相似文献

Confluaria multistriata (Rudolphi, 1810) is redescribed on the basis of specimens from Tachybaptus ruficollis from the material of Rudolphi and Dollfus and new specimens from the same host species from Bulgaria. The types of C. japonica (Yamaguti, 1935) from T. ruficollis are also redescribed and figured. A single specimen from the collection of Krabbe, described as Taenia multistriata, is re-examined and recognised as belonging to a different species of Confluaria, the status of which remains to be established. Criteria for distinguishing the three species are proposed. In view of the present results, some of the previous records of C. multistriata and C. japonica are re-evaluated. The synonymy of the genera Colymbilepis Spasskaya, 1966 and Confluaria Ablasov in Spasskaya, 1966 is confirmed.  相似文献

The surface ultrastructure of two monotypic trypanorhynch genera is described based on new material of Grillotiella exilis (Linton, 1909) and type material of Pseudonybelinia odontacantha Dollfus 1966. In G. exilis, spiniform microtriches cover the bothrial surfaces and the anterior part of the pars vaginalis posterior to the bothria. Bifurcate microtriches adorn the bothrial margins, filiform microtriches the scolex peduncle, and capilliform microtriches the posterior scolex end. This microthrix pattern resembles that found in, e.g., Grillotia erinaceus (van Beneden, 1858), with the difference that the anterior part of the pars vaginalis is covered with a collar of multidigitate palmate microtriches. The position of Grillotiella within the Grillotiinae, Lacistorhynchidae is supported based on these data. The bothria and scolex peduncle of P. odontacantha are covered with acerosate and unciniform microtriches on the distal bothrial surface and capilliform microtriches on the scolex peduncle. Short filiform microtriches cover the appendix. The microthrix pattern resembles that of the Tentaculariidae but with unciniform and acerosate microtriches densely covering the entire distal bothrial surface. Tegumental grooves are present on the posterior bothrial margin. They can be distinguished from bothrial pits in otobothrioid trypanorhynchs in having similar unciniform microtriches compared to the other parts of the bothrial surface and in lacking any spiniform microtriches. With the absence of bothrial pits as characteristic for the otobothrioids and its characteristic microthrix pattern, P. odontacantha together with Paranybelinia otobothrioides Dollfus 1966, both belonging to the Paranybeliniidae change their position in the most recent system from the Otobothrioidea into the Tentacularioidea.  相似文献
