A new species, Epistemma neuerburgii is described. This species was discovered in the Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda, Tropical Africa during a field investigation of epiphytes in montane rainforest. It was, however, also found in Uganda, in similar environment. E. neuerburgii is the fourth species described for Epistemma, but the other three species are found about 2000 km to the west in Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria. E. neuerburgii is an epiphytic climber distinguished by fairly large lanceolate leaves and conspicuous reddish-purple flowers with corolline white, densely hairy corona lobes. 相似文献

A new species of Cryptolepis from Yemen, Arabian Peninsula, C. yemenensis is described and figured. It is recognized by the glabrous appearance of the plant, oblong-elliptic to narrowly obovate leaves, small flowers, small follicles and ridged seed. The new species resembles Cryptolepis gillettii Hutch. & E.A. Bruce and C. volubilis (Balf f.) Schwartz to some extent. Their flowers are die, except for size and different corona shapes. However, they differ with regard to the shape and size of the follicles, the texture of the seed coat and the absence or presence of vesture on the plants. 相似文献

A new Cryptolepis species from Kenya and Tanzania was named Cryptolepis bifida L.Joubert & Venter. However, this name is a later homonym of Cryptolepis bifida (Blume) P.I.Forst. and is herewith corrected to Cryptolepis ibayana L.Joubert & Venter. © 2009 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2009, 160 , 355. 相似文献

Tropodiaptomus turkanae sp. nov. is described from Lake Turkana (formerly Lake Rudolph), Kenya. After years of confusion with T. banforanus , the identity of this taxon as an endemic of Lake Turkana is established. The species is described, and its relationship with other Tropodiaptomus species discussed. 相似文献

Paracyclops longispina n. sp. and Paracyclops altissimus n. sp. are described. New characters derived from detailed examination
of body and limb ornamentation are used to differentiate them from other Paracyclops species. Paracyclops longispina n. sp.
resembles Paracyclops fimbriatus (Fischer, 1853) and Paracyclops imminutus Kiefer, 1929. It differs from the former by the
presence of a well-developed spinular row near the base of the inner setae on the antennal coxobasis in both sexes, and from
the latter in the structure of the seminal receptacle and the position of the mid-distal spinular row on the posterior surface
of the coxa of leg 1. Paracyclops altissimus n. sp. can be distinguished from other members of genus mainly by the structure
of the seminal receptacle and leg 5.
This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

Gazza squamiventralis sp. nov. is described as the fifth species of the genus, based on the holotype and eight paratypes, 42–96 mm in standard
length, collected along the east coast of Africa, from Kenya to Mozambique. The species is similar to other congeners in general
appearance, differing clearly from them in having the ventrolateral surface of the body scaled anterior to a line from the
pectoral fin base to the pelvic fin origin (vs naked) and a smooth supraorbital ridge (vs finely serrated). Additionally,
the species differs from G. dentex, G. rhombea, and G. achlamys in having the dorsolateral surface of the body scaled anterior to a vertical through the tip of the posterior branch of the
supratemporal canal (vs corresponding region naked), and from G. minuta in having the first dorsal fin pterygiophore narrowly expanded anteriorly, with a concave margin (vs broadly expanded, with
a convex or linear margin), and a short antrorse extension of the first anal fin pterygiophore (vs long). A key to the five
species of the genus Gazza is provided.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The number of genera included in Apocynaceae subfamily Periplocoideae is a matter of debate. DNA sequences are used here as an independent dataset to clarify generic relationships and classification of the tuberous periplocoid genera and to address the question of the phylogenetic interpretation of pollinia formation in Schlechterella. METHODS: Representatives of nearly all African and Malagasy genera of Periplocoideae possessing root tubers were analysed using ITS and plastid DNA sequence characters. RESULTS: Sequence data from non-coding molecular markers (ITS of nrDNA and the trnT-L and trnL-F spacers as well as the trnL intron of plastid DNA) give support for a broad taxonomic concept of Raphionacme including Pentagonanthus. Together with Schlechterella, which is sister to Raphionacme, all Raphionacme-like taxa form a derived monophyletic group of somewhat diverse species. Sister to the Schlechterella/Raphionacme clade is a clade comprising Stomatostemma and the not truly tuberous vine Mondia. In the combined analysis, sister to these two clades combined is a clade formed by Petopentia natalensis and Periploca. CONCLUSIONS: The recent inclusion of the monotypic South African Petopentia in the monotypic Malagasy endemic Ischnolepis is to be rejected. The Malagasy Camptocarpus is sister to the remainder of Periplocoideae in the ITS and combined analyses, and a Malagasy origin for the subfamily is discussed. 相似文献

VENTER, H.J. T. & FIELD, D. V., 1989. A new species of Stomatostemma (Periplocaceae) from Mozambique, Africa. A new species of Stomatostemma is described from Mozambique. 11 is [he second species distinguished in the genus Stomatostemma N.E. Br., the other being S. monteiroae (Oliv.) N.E. Br., which was also described from Mozambique. The new species is distinguished from.V. monteiroae by being a virgate shrub, by the pendulous terminal branches and inflorescences, by the long and frail peduncles and pedicels and by the long clavate corona lobes. 相似文献

Leptadenia jazanica Y. Masrahi from the province of Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia is described as a new species and illustrated. The species differs from the other known nearest species of the genus, Leptadenia pyrotechnica, by decumbent to scrambling habit of stems and persistent leaves. In the same province also two new records belonging to the genera Canavalia (Fabaceae) and Craterostigma (Scrophulariaceae) were collected; they were identified as Canavalia virosa (Roxb.) Wight & Arn. and Craterostigma plantagineum Hochst. 相似文献

The results of the study of many specimens preserved in different European museums are reported. The tribe Terpnistrini Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 is resurrected. The distribution of the following species is enhanced: Pardalota
asymmetrica Karsch, 1896, Diogena
denticulata Chopard, 1954, Diogena
fausta (Burmeister, 1838), Plangiopsis
adeps Karsch, 1896, Poreuomena
sanghensis Massa, 2013 and Tylopsis
continua (Walker, 1869). Further, for their peculiar characteristics, two African representatives of the American genus Symmetropleura Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 are included in two new genera: Symmetrokarschia
africana (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878), comb. n. and Symmetroraggea
dirempta (Karsch, 1889), comb. n. A new genus and species from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angustithorax
