Ten new species of caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera) from the Baltic amber

Ten new species of caddisflies of the families Polycentropodidae (nine) and Molannidae (one) are described from the Eocene Baltic amber: Holocentropus peregrinator sp. nov., H. proximorepertus sp. nov., H. dugoi sp. nov., H. fundamentalis sp. nov., H. telergon sp. nov., Plectrocnemia varigoria sp. nov., P. synthesia sp. nov., P. novokshonovi sp. nov., Nyctiophylax valideturbidus sp. nov., and Molanna okraina sp. nov.     

Palynology of the Dockum group (Upper Triassic), Texas,U.S.A.

A palynofloral assemblage is described from the Upper Triassic Dockum Group of Texas. Forty palynomorph species are recorded and these are correlated with European Upper Triassic assemblages. The Dockum Group assemblage is considered to be of late Karnian age.Two new genera, Tulesporites gen. nov., type species T. briscoensis sp. nov., and Daughertyspora gen. nov., type species D. chinleanus (Daugherty) comb. nov. have been erected; new species are Converrucosisporites matsenii sp. nov., Pyramidosporites traversei sp. nov., Callialasporites triassicus sp. nov., Plicatipollenites minutotriletus sp. nov., Triadispora dockumensis sp. nov., Bhardwajispora jansonii sp. nov., Protodiploxypinus americus sp. nov., P. ujhelyi sp. nov., Klausipollenites gouldii sp. nov., Pityosporites old-hamensis sp. nov., Abietineaepollenites bujakii sp. nov., Falcisporites oviformis sp. nov. and F. tecovasensis sp. nov.     

New Devonian and Carboniferous bryozoans of the Holy Cross Mountains (central Poland)

New bryozoans from the Middle-Upper Devonian (Eifelian-Frasnian) and the Lower Carboniferous (Tournaisian) of the Holy Cross Mountains in central Poland are described: Bigeyella sparsa gen. et sp. nov., B. separata gen. et sp. nov., Eridopora singula sp. nov., Leptotrypa pulchra sp. nov., Kysylschinipora klarae sp. nov., Coelotubulipora rara sp. nov., Alternifenestella genuina sp. nov., Exfenestella polonica sp. nov., and Rectifenestella localis sp. nov. Some paleogeographic and stratigraphic aspects of the Paleozoic deposits of this region are discussed and main bryozoan localities are described.     

New radiolarian species of the order Nassellaria from the Coniacian-Santonian of the Perapedhi formation of southern Cyprus

Rich radiolarian associations are investigated. They include nine new species from the Upper Cretaceous (Coniacian-Santonian) metal-bearing beds of the Perapedhia Formation of southern Cyprus: Dorypyle concinna sp. nov., Gongylothorax mangaleniensis sp. nov., Heliocryptocapsa macroporus sp. nov., H. perapediensis sp. nov., Mita guttiformis sp. nov., Pseudoeucyrtis belogorskensis sp. nov., P. cypricus sp. nov., Rhopalosyringium mangaleniense sp. nov., and Sandovalella trihedra sp. nov.     

Seven new species of caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera) from the Rovno amber (Eocene of Ukraine)

Seven new caddisfly species of the families Polycentropodidae, Psychomyiidae, and Lepidostomatidae are described from the Late Eocene Rovno amber: Holocentropus kobodok sp. nov., H. zhiltsovae sp. nov., Plectrocnemia nastigermania sp. nov., P. ucrainica sp. nov., Nyctiophylax terreusbos sp. nov., Lype essentia sp. nov., and Lepidostoma quasitypica sp. nov.     

Early to Middle Devonian miospores from northern Saudi Arabia

Well-preserved palynomorph assemblages are recovered from the Devonian Jauf and Jubah formations in five shallow boreholes in the northern part of Saudi Arabia. These fully cored boreholes overlap stratigraphically to form a 1640 ft composite sequence. Miospores dominate the palynological assemblages of most samples. The assemblages are mainly composed of trilete spores but also contain cryptospores and monolete spores. One new genus, sixteen new species and two new varieties of miospores are described from the studied assemblages: Artemopyrainconspicua nov. sp., Artemopyrarecticosta nov. sp., Camarozonotriletesfilatoffii nov. sp., Camarozonotriletesrugulosus nov. sp., Cymbohilatesbaqaensis nov. sp., Cymbohilatescomptulus nov. sp., Cymbohilatesheteroverrucosus nov. sp., Cymbosporitesasymmetricus nov. sp., Dibolisporitespilatus nov. sp., Dictyotriletesbiornatus nov. sp., Gneudnasporadivellomedia (Chibrikova) Balme, 1988 var. divellomedia, Gneudnasporadivellomedia (Chibrikova) Balme, 1988 var. minor nov. var., Latosporitesovalis nov. sp., Scylasporacostulosa nov. sp., Squamisporaarabica nov. gen. and sp., Stellatisporamulticostata nov. sp., Zonotriletesarmillatus nov. sp. and Zonotriletessimplicissimus nov. sp. Their stratigraphic distribution is compared to the well-established Devonian West European zonation of Streel et al. (1987) (Streel, M., Higgs, K.T., Loboziak, S., Riegel, W., Steemans, P., 1987. Spore stratigraphy and correlation with faunas and floras in the type marine Devonian of the Ardenne-Rhenish region. Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology 50, 211-219). A late Pragian-Givetian age is suggested for this sequence. No characteristic Eifelian taxa are recorded, but this could be explained by a gap in palyniferous samples.     

NEW MARINE ALGAE FROM THE CENTRAL TROPICAL PACIFIC OCEAN

Three new taxa are described: Dolyella hawaiiensis var. clavata var. nov., Cottoniella triseriata sp. nov., and Taenioma dotyi sp. nov. A modified characterization of the genus Cottoniella is given, and certain critical distinctions between the species are presented. Taenioma dotyi is distinctive in the increased width of the determinate branches resulting from division of the flanking cells.     

Miocene ostracods from the Tremiti Islands and Hyblean Plateau: biostratigraphy and description of new and poorly known species

The main taxonomic and stratigraphical results of a study of ostracods from the middle-late Miocene of the Tremiti Islands and the Hyblean Plateau are presented. The faunas are mostly typical of deep thermospheric or psychrospheric bathyal environments. Excluding a few, mostly juvenile shallow water contaminants, a total of 127 species were recorded. Twenty-four taxa are discussed herein; of these, 13 species (Cytherella dissimilis nov. sp., Cytherella parvula nov. sp., Cytherella subtilis nov. sp., Argilloecia triangularis nov. sp., Retibythere (Retibythere)? claudii nov. sp., Retibythere (Retibythere)? gibba nov. sp., Cytheropteron (Cytheropteron) joachinoi nov. sp., Cytheropteron (Aversovalva) consuetum nov. sp., Cytheropteron (Aversovalva) trimerumense nov. sp., Cytheropteron (Aversovalva) turgidum nov. sp., Loxoconcha julianii nov. sp., Buntonia whatleyi nov. sp., Pterygocythere nuda nov. sp.) and a subspecies (Costa tricostata dorsoarcuata nov. subsp.) are described as new, while six are left in open nomenclature. The stratigraphical distribution of ostracods is expressed in terms of planktonic foraminiferal zones. Information obtained from this study enriches biostratigraphical data on Mediterranean Miocene deep-sea ostracods, especially with respect to the Langhian.     

New beetle species of the genus Lasiosyne (Coleoptera, Lasiosynidae) from the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous of Russia and Mongolia

Six new species of the genus Lasiosyne Tan et al., 2007, the type genus of the family Lasiosynidae Kirejtshuk et al., 2010, are described from Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous deposits of Mongolia and East Siberia: L. shartegiensis sp. nov., L. insculpta sp. nov., L. longitarsa sp. nov., L. cataphracta sp. nov., L. punctata sp. nov., and L. decora sp. nov. A modified diagnosis of the genus is proposed.     

New radiolarian species from the Upper Cretaceous sections of the Crimean Mountains (Ukraine)

New radiolarians from the Upper Cretaceous beds (Middle Turonian-Upper Santonian) of four sections of the Crimean Mountains (Biuk-Karasu River, western peak of Ak Mountain, Ak-Kaya Mountain, and Chuku Mountain) are investigated. Seven new species are described, including Actinomma (?) belbekense sp. nov., Pseudoaulophacus kopaevichae sp. nov., Ps. trizonalis sp. nov., Phaseliforma turovi sp. nov., Triactoma karasuensis sp. nov., Patulibracchium belogorskensis sp. nov., and Paronaella (?) nikishini sp. nov.     

Sélaciens nouveaux du London Clay de l'Essex (Yprésien du bassin de Londres)

The Ypresian locality of Burnham-on-Crouch(Essex) has yielded numerous Selachian species, some of which are new: Hexanchus agassizi sp. nov., Scyliorhinus burnhamensis sp. nov., S. casieri sp. nov., S. pattersoni sp. nov., S. woodwardi sp. nov., Pararhincodon ypresiensis sp. nov., Triakis wardi sp. nov., Mustelus whitei sp. nov. The Hexanchid teeth classicaly refered to Notidanus serratissimusAg. include in fact two separate species belonging to different genera: Notorhynchus serratissimus (Ag.) and Hexanchus agassizi sp. nov. Lamna affinis (Casier) is arranged in the genus Isurolamna nov. in consideration of his dental peculiarities. The genus Burnhamia nov. is created for Rhinoptera daviesiWoodward that can be regarded as a Mobulid. Oxyrhina sheppeyensisCasier must be classified in the genus Anomotodon. The genus Triakis, Mustelus, Anomotodon and Pararhincodon are pointed out for the first time in the Ypresian.     

New ancyloceratidae (Ammonoidea) from the Aptian of the Ulyanovsk region,Middle Volga

A new genus Pseudoancyloceras gen. nov. with the type species P. calinovense sp. nov. and five new species of Ancyloceratidae (Australiceras (Proaustraliceras) elegans sp. nov., Audouliceras vyrystaykense sp. nov., A. brusyankense sp. nov., A. mordovense sp. nov., Tropaeum (Tropaeum) elaurkense sp. nov.) are described from the Aptian of the Ulyanovsk region, Middle Volga.     

A new subfamily of ichneumonids from the Lower Cretaceous of Transbaikalia and Mongolia (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae)

A new subfamily of ichneumonids, Palaeoichneumoninae, is described from the Lower Cretaceous of Transbaikalia (Baisa locality) and Mongolia (Bon Tsagan and Kholbotu Gol localities). The new subfamily is intermediate between the archaic subfamily Tanychorinae and the Recent Ichneumonidae. It includes 12 new species, described in three new genera: Palaeoichneumon freja gen. et sp. nov., P. ornatus sp. nov., P. danu sp. nov., P. micron sp. nov., P. mirabilis sp. nov., P. tenebrosus sp. nov., P. townesi sp. nov., Rudimentifera mora gen. et sp. nov., R. suspecta sp. nov., Dischysma maculata gen. et sp. nov., D. similis sp. nov., and D. ramulata sp. nov.     

New archaeocyatha from the Atdabanian Stage of the Siberian Platform

New Archaeocyatha genera and species, Turgorocyathus elegans gen. et sp. nov., Angustocyathus porus gen. et sp. nov., Flossocyathus squamosus gen. et sp. nov., Rotundocyathus oimuranicus sp. nov., and Carinacyathus inopinatus sp. nov., from the type sections of the Atdabanian Stage of the Lower Cambrian of the Siberian Platform are described.     

Genus Thubana Walker of the Malaysian Borneo (Lepidoptera,Lecithoceridae), with Descriptions of Seven New Species

The genus Thubana Walker, 1864 of the Malaysian Borneo is revised. Nine species are recognized including seven new species. The new species are: T. kumatai sp. nov., T. kubahensis sp. nov., T. kinabaluensis sp. nov., T. ochracea sp. nov., T. quadrata sp. nov., T. prolata sp. nov., and T. spinata sp. nov. With regard to the previously known species, photos of adults and the male or female genitalia are given, with some taxonomie notes. A key to the Thubana species of the Malaysian Borneo is provided.     

New gall midges of the subfamily Lestremiinae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) from the Rovno amber

Two new genera and eight new species of the gall midges subfamily Lestremiinae, viz. Berestella insuperabilis gen. et sp. nov., Monardia impellucida sp. nov., Xylopriona aristata sp. nov. (Micromyini), Aprionus improvisus sp. nov., A.? vlaskini sp. nov. (Aprionini), Vicemyia immediata gen. et sp. nov. (Peromyiini), Cordylomyia cauta sp. nov. (Campylomyzini) and Bryomyia necessaria sp. nov. (Bryomyiini) from the Late Eocene Rovno amber are described. New combinations, i.e., Cordylomyia declinata (Fedotova, 2004), comb. nov. and Cordylomyia magnifica (Nel et Prokop, 2006), comb. nov. (both are transferred from Neurolyga) are proposed. No species in common with the fauna from the Baltic amber are recorded.     

Lecithoceridae (Lepidoptera: Gelechioidea) of New Guinea,Part V: Descriptions of two new genera,Neotimyra gen. nov. and Strombiola gen. nov.

This is the 5th part in a series on the family Lecithoceridae (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea) of New Guinea. Two new genera, Neotimyra gen. nov. and Strombiola gen. nov. are proposed. There are five new species in the genus Neotimyra (N. senara sp. nov., N. milleri sp. nov., N. gyriola sp. nov., N. warkapiensis sp. nov., and N. nemoralis sp. nov.), and one new species in the genus Strombiola (S. papuana sp. nov.). Adults, heads, labial palpi, venations, and male genitalia are illustrated.     

New Inoceramus-like bivalves of the genus Kolymia Licharew from the Middle Permian of Northeast Asia

Historical development of Middle Permian Inoceramus-like bivalves of the genus Kolymia Licharew, which are endemic to the East Boreal Biogeographic Realm, is briefly discussed. Five new species, Kolymia gydanensis sp. nov., K. taskanica sp. nov., K. milievskyi sp. nov., K. churavtsovi sp. nov., and K. astafievae sp. nov., from the Middle Permian of the Omolon Massif, northeastern frame of the Okhotsk Massif, northern Verkhoyansk Region, Balygychan and Omulevka Blocks are described.
