Nonfullerene polymer solar cells (PSCs) are fabricated by using one wide bandgap donor PBDB‐T and one ultranarrow bandgap acceptor IEICO‐4F as the active layers. One medium bandgap donor PTB7‐Th is selected as the third component due to the similar highest occupied molecular orbital level compared to that of PBDB‐T and their complementary absorption spectra. The champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of PSCs is increased from 10.25% to 11.62% via incorporating 20 wt% PTB7‐Th in donors, with enhanced short‐circuit current (JSC) of 24.14 mA cm?2 and fill factor (FF) of 65.03%. The 11.62% PCE should be the highest value for ternary nonfullerene PSCs. The main contribution of PTB7‐Th can be summarized as the improved photon harvesting and enhanced exciton utilization of PBDB‐T due to the efficient energy transfer from PBDB‐T to PTB7‐Th. Meanwhile, PTB7‐Th can also act as a regulator to adjust PBDB‐T molecular arrangement for optimizing charge transport, resulting in the enhanced FF of ternary PSCs. This experimental result may provide new insight for developing high‐performance ternary nonfullerene PSCs by selecting two well‐compatible donors with different bandgap and one ultranarrow bandgap acceptor.  相似文献

Realizing solar‐to‐hydrogen (STH) efficiencies close to 20% using low‐cost semiconductors remains a major step toward accomplishing the practical viability of photoelectrochemical (PEC) hydrogen generation technologies. Dual‐absorber tandem cells combining inexpensive semiconductors are a promising strategy to achieve high STH efficiencies at a reasonable cost. Here, a perovskite photovoltaic biased silicon (Si) photoelectrode is demonstrated for highly efficient stand‐alone solar water splitting. A p+nn+ ‐Si/Ti/Pt photocathode is shown to present a remarkable photon‐to‐current efficiency of 14.1% under biased condition and stability over three days under continuous illumination. Upon pairing with a semitransparent mixed perovskite solar cell of an appropriate bandgap with state‐of‐the‐art performance, an unprecedented 17.6% STH efficiency is achieved for self‐driven solar water splitting. Modeling and analysis of the dual‐absorber PEC system reveal that further work into replacing the noble‐metal catalyst materials with earth‐abundant elements and improvement of perovskite fill factor will pave the way for the realization of a low‐cost high‐efficiency PEC system.  相似文献

A tandem organic solar cell (OSC) is a valid structure to widen the photon response range and suppress the transmission loss and thermalization loss. In the past few years, the development of low‐bandgap materials with broad absorption in long‐wavelength region for back subcells has attracted considerable attention. However, wide‐bandgap materials for front cells that have both high short‐circuit current density (JSC) and open‐circuit voltage (VOC) are scarce. In this work, a new fluorine‐substituted wide‐bandgap small molecule nonfullerene acceptor TfIF‐4FIC is reported, which has an optical bandgap of 1.61 eV. When PBDB‐T‐2F is selected as the donor, the device offers an extremely high VOC of 0.98 V, a high JSC of 17.6 mA cm?2, and a power conversion efficiency of 13.1%. This is the best performing acceptor with such a wide bandgap. More importantly, the energy loss in this combination is 0.63 eV. These properties ensure that PBDB‐T‐2F:TfIF‐4FIC is an ideal candidate for the fabrication of tandem OSCs. When PBDB‐T‐2F:TfIF‐4FIC and PTB7‐Th:PCDTBT:IEICO‐4F are used as the front cell and the back cell to construct tandem solar cells, a PCE of 15% is obtained, which is one of best results reported to date in the field of organic solar cells.  相似文献

A nonfullerene acceptor (NFA) with acceptor–donor–acceptor (A–D–A) architecture, i‐IEICO‐2F, based on 4,9‐dihydro‐s‐indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]dithiophene as an electron‐donating core and 2‐(6‐fluoro‐2,3‐dihydro‐3‐oxo‐1H‐inden‐1‐ylidene)‐propanedinitrile as electron‐withdrawing end groups, is designed and synthesized. i‐IEICO‐2F has a twist structure in the main conjugated chain, which causes blueshifted absorption and leads to harmonious absorption with a high bandgap donor. The bandgap of i‐IEICO‐2F compliments the bandgap of suitable wide bandgap donor polymers such as J52, leading to complete light absorption throughout the visible spectrum. Devices based on i‐IEICO‐2F exhibit optimized photovoltaic performance including an open‐circuit voltage of 0.93 V, a short‐circuit current density of 16.61 mA cm?2, and a fill factor of 73%, and result in a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.28%. The i‐IEICO‐2F‐based devices reach PCEs of >11% without using any additives or post‐treatments. Devices are found to be thermally stable and maintain 44% of their initial PCE after 184.5 h of continuous thermal annealing (TA) treatment at 150 °C. Based on UV, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and grazing incidence wide angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS) results, i‐IEICO‐2F devices show almost identical morphology and molecular orientation throughout the TA treatment and excellent stability compared to other IEICO derivatives.  相似文献

Perovskite‐organic tandem solar cells are attracting more attention due to their potential for highly efficient and flexible photovoltaic device. In this work, efficient perovskite‐organic monolithic tandem solar cells integrating the wide bandgap perovskite (1.74 eV) and low bandgap organic active PBDB‐T:SN6IC‐4F (1.30 eV) layer, which serve as the top and bottom subcell, respectively, are developed. The resulting perovskite‐organic tandem solar cells with passivated wide‐bandgap perovskite show a remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.13%, with an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.85 V, a short‐circuit photocurrent (Jsc) of 11.52 mA cm?2, and a fill factor (FF) of 70.98%. Thanks to the advantages of low temperature fabrication processes and the flexibility properties of the device, a flexible tandem solar cell which obtain a PCE of 13.61%, with Voc of 1.80 V, Jsc of 11.07 mA cm?2, and FF of 68.31% is fabricated. Moreover, to demonstrate the achieved high Voc in the tandem solar cells for potential applications, a photovoltaic (PV)‐driven electrolysis system combing the tandem solar cell and water splitting electrocatalysis is assembled. The integrated device demonstrates a solar‐to‐hydrogen efficiency of 12.30% and 11.21% for rigid, and flexible perovskite‐organic tandem solar cell based PV‐driven electrolysis systems, respectively.  相似文献

Flexible and biocompatible integrated photo‐charging devices consisting of photovoltaic cells and energy storage units can provide an independent power supply for next‐generation wearable electronics or biomedical devices. However, current flexible integrated devices exhibit low total energy conversion and storage efficiency and large device thickness, hindering their applicability towards efficient and stable self‐powered systems. Here, a highly efficient and ultra‐thin photo‐charging device with a total efficiency approaching 6% and a thickness below 50 µm is reported, prepared by integrating 3‐µm‐thick organic photovoltaics on 40 µm‐thick carbon nanotube/polymer‐based supercapacitors. This flexible photo‐charging capacitor delivers much higher performance compared with previous reports by tuning the electrochemical properties of the composite electrodes, which reduce the device thickness to 1/8 while improving the total efficiency by 15%. The devices also exhibit a superior operational stability (over 96% efficiency retention after 100 charge/discharge cycles for one week) and mechanical robustness (94.66% efficiency retention after 5000 times bending at a radius of around 2 mm), providing a high‐power and long‐term operational energy source for flexible and wearable electronics.  相似文献

Optically active materials able to up‐convert the frequency of the incident radiation can be used to enhance the performance of photovoltaic and photocatalityc cells, recovering sub‐bandgap photons not directly absorbed by the devices. Actually, sensitized up‐conversion (SUC) based on multi‐component organic systems is the most promising approach for these photon energy managing processes, being efficient also at the solar irradiance. However, applications of SUC on real devices have not been yet accomplished because its conversion yield usually drops dramatically in the solid state where the low dye mobility inhibits the diffusion controlled mechanisms ruling SUC photophysics. To overcome this limit, we prepared a single‐phase elastomer (poly‐butylacrilate) doped with proper dyes (platinum (II) octaetyl‐porphyrin and 9,10‐diphenylanthracene) to fabricate an efficient photon up‐converting material. Thanks to the residual molecular diffusion provided by the soft host, and to the quenching reduction of involved metastable electronic excited‐states in a solid environment compared to a liquid one, we obtained a record SUC yield of 17% at the solid state. SUC efficiency has been studied as function of the excitation power and sample temperature, elucidating the photophysical processes at the base of the high observed yield and assessing the guidelines for the fabrication of technologically appealing low power up‐converting materials.  相似文献

Following the 2nd release of the “Emerging PV reports,” the best achievements in the performance of emerging photovoltaic devices in diverse emerging photovoltaic research subjects are summarized, as reported in peer-reviewed articles in academic journals since August 2021. Updated graphs, tables, and analyses are provided with several performance parameters, e.g., power conversion efficiency, open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current density, fill factor, light utilization efficiency, and stability test energy yield. These parameters are presented as a function of the photovoltaic bandgap energy and the average visible transmittance for each technology and application, and are put into perspective using, e.g., the detailed balance efficiency limit. The 3rd installment of the “Emerging PV reports” extends the scope toward triple junction solar cells.  相似文献

Mixed iodide‐bromide organolead perovskites with a bandgap of 1.70–1.80 eV have great potential to boost the efficiency of current silicon solar cells by forming a perovskite‐silicon tandem structure. Yet, the stability of the perovskites under various application conditions, and in particular combined light and heat stress, is not well studied. Here, FA0.15Cs0.85Pb(I0.73Br0.27)3, with an optical bandgap of ≈1.72 eV, is used as a model system to investigate the thermal‐photostability of wide‐bandgap mixed halide perovskites. It is found that the concerted effect of heat and light can induce both phase segregation and decomposition in a pristine perovskite film. On the other hand, through a postdeposition film treatment with benzylamine (BA) molecules, the highly defective regions (e.g., film surface and grain boundaries) of the film can be well passivated, thus preventing the progression of decomposition or phase segregation in the film. Besides the stability improvement, the BA‐modified perovskite solar cells also exhibit excellent photovoltaic performance, with the champion device reaching a power conversion efficiency of 18.1%, a stabilized power output efficiency of 17.1% and an open‐circuit voltage (V oc) of 1.24 V.  相似文献

The development of non‐fullerene‐based electron acceptors (especially organic molecules with sufficient absorption property within the solar spectrum region) for bulk‐heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs) is an important issue for the achievement of high photoconversion efficiency. In this contribution, a new class of organic acceptors di‐cyan substituted quinacridone derivatives (DCN‐nCQA, n = 4, 6 and 8) for BHJ solar cells was designed and synthesized. DCN‐nCQA molecules possess facile synthesis, solution processability, visible and near‐IR light absorption and relatively stable characteristics. The DCN‐8CQA molecule exhibited a proper LUMO energy level (–4.1 eV), small bandgap (1.8 eV) and moderate electron mobility (10?4 cm2 V?1 S?1), suggesting that this molecule is an ideal acceptor material for the classical donor material regio‐regular poly (3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). A photovoltaic device with a structure of [ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:DCN‐8CQA/LiF/Al] displayed a power conversion efficiency of 1.57% and a fill factor of 57% under 100 mW cm?2 AM 1.5G simulated solar illumination. The DCN‐nCQA molecules showed remarkable absorption in the region from 650 to 700 nm, where P3HT has a weak absorption promoting overlap with the solar spectrum and potentially improving the performance of the solar cell.  相似文献

Supercapacitors have emerged as an important energy storage technology offering rapid power delivery, fast charging, and long cycle lifetimes. While extending the operational voltage is improving the overall energy and power densities, progress remains hindered by a lack of stable n‐type redox‐active materials. Here, a new Faradaic electrode material comprised of a narrow bandgap donor?acceptor conjugated polymer is demonstrated, which exhibits an open‐shell ground state, intrinsic electrical conductivity, and enhanced charge delocalization in the reduced state. These attributes afford very stable anodes with a coulombic efficiency of 99.6% and that retain 90% capacitance after 2000 charge–discharge cycles, exceeding other n‐dopable organic materials. Redox cycling processes are monitored in situ by optoelectronic measurements to separate chemical versus physical degradation mechanisms. Asymmetric supercapacitors fabricated using this polymer with p‐type PEDOT:PSS operate within a 3 V potential window, with a best‐in‐class energy density of 30.4 Wh kg?1 at a 1 A g?1 discharge rate, a power density of 14.4 kW kg?1 at a 10 A g?1 discharge rate, and a long cycle life critical to energy storage and management. This work demonstrates the application of a new class of stable and tunable redox‐active material for sustainable energy technologies.  相似文献

Three heteroleptic ruthenium complexes incorporating new ancillary ligands synthesized by sequential connection of different alkyl functionalities with triazole as a linker are prepared using click chemistry. These sensitizers exhibit low‐energy metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer bands centered at 540 nm with molar extinction coefficients of up to 1.54 × 104 L mol?1 cm?1. The devices using these sensitizers in conjunction with a volatile electrolyte show high photovoltaic conversion efficiencies of 8.7 to 9.9% under standard AM 1.5G sunlight (100 mW cm?2) conditions. Using an ionic liquid electrolyte, the cells show not only a good power‐conversion efficiency of up to 7.1%, but also promising long‐term stability under full sunlight intensity at 60 °C. The difference in the photovoltaic parameters during the ageing process is investigated by employing transient photoelectrical measurements.  相似文献

A modified detailed balance model is built to understand and quantify efficiency loss of perovskite solar cells. The modified model captures the light‐absorption‐dependent short‐circuit current, contact and transport‐layer‐modified carrier transport, as well as recombination and photon‐recycling‐influenced open‐circuit voltage. The theoretical and experimental results show that for experimentally optimized perovskite solar cells with the power conversion efficiency of 19%, optical loss of 25%, nonradiative recombination loss of 35%, and ohmic loss of 35% are the three dominant loss factors for approaching the 31% efficiency limit of perovskite solar cells. It is also found that the optical loss climbs up to 40% for a thin‐active‐layer design. Moreover, a misconfigured transport layer introduces above 15% of energy loss. Finally, the perovskite‐interface‐induced surface recombination, ohmic loss, and current leakage should be further reduced to upgrade device efficiency and eliminate hysteresis effect. This work contributes to fundamental understanding of device physics of perovskite solar cells. The developed model offers a systematic design and analysis tool to photovoltaic science and technology.  相似文献

A new heteroleptic ruthenium complex, coded CYC‐B19 , incorporating an ancillary ligand endowed with hexylthio‐bithiophene segments and a conjugated anchoring ligand with vinyl groups was prepared. This new sensitizer exhibits a lower energy MLCT band centred at 562 nm with a remarkably high molar absorption coefficient of 2.97 × 104 M?1 cm?1. DFT‐TDDFT theoretical calculation revealed that insertion a vinyl group in the anchoring ligand pushes the LUMO electron locating more on the anchoring ligand. This will benefit the electron transfer from dye to TiO2 when the dye molecules were excited by light. Physicochemical measurements and the optimization of electrolyte were done to investigate the potential of CYC‐B19 in TiO2 scattering‐layer free dye‐sensitized solar cells. Not only is a good photovoltaic efficiency of 8.4% reached, but the transparent device sensitized by CYC‐B19 also presents a superior spectral response to its predecessor CYC‐B11 .  相似文献

While colloidal quantum dot photovoltaic devices (CQDPVs) can achieve a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of ≈12%, their insufficient optical absorption in the near‐infrared (NIR) regime impairs efficient utilization of the full spectrum of visible light. Here, high‐efficiency, solution‐processed, hybrid series, tandem photovoltaic devices are developed featuring CQDs and organic bulk heterojunction (BHJ) photoactive materials for front‐ and back‐cells, respectively. The organic BHJ back‐cell efficiently harvests the transmitted NIR photons from the CQD front‐cell, which reinforces the photon‐to‐current conversion at 350–1000 nm wavelengths. Optimizing the short‐circuit current density balance of each sub‐cell and creating a near ideal series connection using an intermediate layer achieve a PCE (12.82%) that is superior to that of each single‐junction device (11.17% and 11.02% for the CQD and organic BHJ device, respectively). Notably, the PCE of the hybrid tandem device is the highest among the reported CQDPVs, including single‐junction devices and tandem devices. The hybrid tandem device also exhibits almost negligible degradation after air storage for 3 months. This study suggests a potential route to improve the performance of CQDPVs by proper hybridization with NIR‐absorbing photoactive materials.  相似文献

Morphology and miscibility control are still a great challenge in polymer solar cells. Despite physical tools being applied, chemical strategies are still limited and complex. To finely tune blend miscibility to obtain optimized morphology, chemical steric engineering is proposed to systemically investigate its effects on optical and electronic properties, especially on a balance between crystallinity and miscibility. By changing the alkylthiol side chain orientation different steric effects are realized in three different polymers. Surprisingly, the photovoltaic device of the polymer PTBB‐m with middle steric structure affords a better power conversion efficiency, over 12%, compared to those of the polymers PTBB‐o and PTBB‐p with large or small steric structures, which could be attributed to a more balanced blend miscibility without sacrificing charge‐carrier transport. Space charge‐limited current, atomic force microscopy, grazing incidence wide angle X‐ray scattering, and resonant soft X‐ray scattering measurements show that the steric engineering of alkylthiol side chains can have significant impacts on polymer aggregation properties, blend miscibility, and photovoltaic performances. More important, the control of miscibility via the simple chemical approach has preliminarily proved its great potential and will pave a new avenue for optimizing the blend morphology.  相似文献

The physical properties of a material are defined by its electronic structure. Electrons in solids are characterized by energy (ω) and momentum (k) and the probability to find them in a particular state with given ω and k is described by the spectral function A(k, ω). This function can be directly measured in an experiment based on the well-known photoelectric effect, for the explanation of which Albert Einstein received the Nobel Prize back in 1921. In the photoelectric effect the light shone on a surface ejects electrons from the material. According to Einstein, energy conservation allows one to determine the energy of an electron inside the sample, provided the energy of the light photon and kinetic energy of the outgoing photoelectron are known. Momentum conservation makes it also possible to estimate k relating it to the momentum of the photoelectron by measuring the angle at which the photoelectron left the surface. The modern version of this technique is called Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) and exploits both conservation laws in order to determine the electronic structure, i.e. energy and momentum of electrons inside the solid. In order to resolve the details crucial for understanding the topical problems of condensed matter physics, three quantities need to be minimized: uncertainty* in photon energy, uncertainty in kinetic energy of photoelectrons and temperature of the sample. In our approach we combine three recent achievements in the field of synchrotron radiation, surface science and cryogenics. We use synchrotron radiation with tunable photon energy contributing an uncertainty of the order of 1 meV, an electron energy analyzer which detects the kinetic energies with a precision of the order of 1 meV and a He3 cryostat which allows us to keep the temperature of the sample below 1 K. We discuss the exemplary results obtained on single crystals of Sr2RuO4 and some other materials. The electronic structure of this material can be determined with an unprecedented clarity.  相似文献

The high thermal stability and facile synthesis of CsPbI2Br all‐inorganic perovskite solar cells (AI‐PSCs) have attracted tremendous attention. As far as electron‐transporting layers (ETLs) are concerned, low temperature processing and reduced interfacial recombination centers through tunable energy levels determine the feasibility of the perovskite devices. Although the TiO2 is the most popular ETL used in PSCs, its processing temperature and moderate electron mobility hamper the performance and feasibility. Herein, the highly stable, low‐temperature processed MgZnO nanocrystal‐based ETLs for dynamic hot‐air processed Mn2+ incorporated CsPbI2Br AI‐PSCs are reported. By holding its regular planar “n–i–p” type device architecture, the MgZnO ETL and poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) hole transporting layer, 15.52% power conversion efficiency (PCE) is demonstrated. The thermal‐stability analysis reveals that the conventional ZnO ETL‐based AI‐PSCs show a serious instability and poor efficiency than the Mg2+ modified MgZnO ETLs. The photovoltaic and stability analysis of this improved photovoltaic performance is attributed to the suitable wide‐bandgap, low ETL/perovskite interface recombination, and interface stability by Mg2+ doping. Interestingly, the thermal stability analysis of the unencapsulated AI‐PSCs maintains >95% of initial PCE more than 400 h at 85 °C for MgZnO ETL, revealing the suitability against thermal degradation than conventional ZnO ETL.  相似文献

A dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSC) with in situ energy storage capacity is demonstrated using a lead–organohalide electrolyte CH3NH3I·PbCl2 (LOC) to replace the conventional I?/I3? electrolyte. The coupling of lead and iodine in one electrolyte creates a dual‐function rechargeable solar battery that combines the working processes of photoelectrochemical cells with electrochemical batteries. Optimization of the H+ concentration in the electrolyte leads to increased photocharging efficiency and storage. The power conversion efficiency of the LOC–DSC is 8.6% under one sun illumination (AM 1.5, 100 mW cm?2) as a DSC. When operating as a battery, Faraday efficiency can be achieved as high as 81.5% using a bromide‐based CH3NH3Br·PbBr2 (LOB) electrolyte in a DSC configuration. This new cell design suggests a means of combining photovoltaic energy conversion and electrical energy storage.  相似文献

Straightforward evidence for ion‐diffusion‐induced interfacial degradation in inverted perovskite solar cells is presented. Over 1000 h, solar cells inevitably undergo degradation, especially with respect to the current density and fill factor. The Ag electrode is peeled off and re‐evaporated to investigate the effect of the Ag/[6,6]‐phenyl C71 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) interfacial degradation on the photovoltaic performance at days 10 (240 h), 20 (480 h), 30 (720 h), and 40 (960 h). The power conversion efficiency increases after the Ag electrode restoration process. While the current density shows a slightly decreased value, the fill factor and open‐circuit voltage increase for the new electrode devices. The decrease in the activation energy due to the restored Ag electrode induces recovery of the fill factor. The diffused I? ions react with the PCBM molecules, resulting in a quasi n‐doping effect of PCBM. Upon electrode exchange, the reversible interaction between the iodine ions and PCBM causes current density variation. The disorder model for the open‐circuit voltage over a wide range of temperatures explains the open‐circuit voltage increase at every electrode exchange. Finally, the degradation mechanism of the inverted perovskite solar cell over 1000 h is described under the proposed recombination system.  相似文献
