A labdane diterpenoid sterol from Lagerstroemia lancasteri

A new labdane diterpenoid, lagerstronolide, having a β-substituted γ-butyrolactone moiety, stigmast-4-ene-3β,6α-diol were isolated together with sitosterol glucoside from Lagerstroemia lancasteri. The structures of the new compounds were determined by means of spectral chemical analysis. This is the first report of labdane diterpenoid in the Lythraceae family.

In addition to three known acids, five new diterpenoid acids with a rearranged ent-labdane skeleton (ent-halimane) have been isolated from the acid fraction of Halimium viscosum as their methyl ester derivatives.     

Further diterpenoids from Plectranthus ornatus and P. grandidentatus

A new halimane diterpenoid and the previously known labdane rhinocerotinoic acid were isolated from Plectranthus ornatus Codd. In addition, a new monoacetyl derivative of the abietane coleon U was found among the constituents of Plectranthus grandidentatus Gürke. These diterpenes could be significant from both chemotaxonomic and biogenetic points of view.

A new diterpenoid, 19-noranticopalic acid, has been isolated from Agathis lanceolata resin. Its structure has been established by spectroscopic methods and chemical correlations with anticopalic acid.     

Gummiferolic acid,a new ent-atis-16-ene diterpenoid from Margotia gummifera

From the roots of Margotia gummifera a new diterpenoid with the ent-atis-16-ene skeleton, gummiferolic acid, has been obtained in very high yield (2% of the dry plant), together with the known ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid.     

8β-hydroxypimar-15-en-19-oic acid from Taxodium mucronatum

A new diterpenoid has been isolated from the leaves and fruits of Taxodium mucronatum. Its structure, 8β-hydroxypimar-15-en- 19-oic acid, was established by chemical and spectroscopic means.     

Dilophic acid a diterpenoid from the tropical brown seaweed dilophus guineensis

A new xenicane-type diterpenoid containing a carboxylic acid has been isolated from the tropical brown alga Dilophus guineensis. Its structure was established via spectroscopic arguments including the use of two-dimensional proton—proton and proton—carbon COSY experiments. This new diterpene shows slight Gram-positive antimicrobial activity and is weakly ichthyotoxic.     

Teugin,a neo-clerodane diterpenoid from Teucrium fragile

From the aerial part of Teucrium fragile a new neo-clerodane diterpenoid, teugin, has been isolated. Its structure, 15,16-epoxy- 2β,6β-dihydroxy-neo-cleroda-3,13(16),14-triene-18,19:20,12S-diolide, was established mainly by spectroscopic means.
