The carbon isotope ratios (δ13C values) of samples of Kalanchoë species collected in Africa were compared with previous data obtained with species from Madagascar. In contrast to the Malagasy species which cover the whole range of δ13C values from ?10 to ? 30%o, indicating high inter- and intraspecific diversity of CAM performance, in the African species nearly all δ13C values were less negative than ?18%0. Thus, in the African species the CAM behaviour is characterized by CO2 uptake proceeding mainly during the night. The distribution of δ13C values among the species clearly mirrors the taxonomic groups and the three sections of the genus Kalanchoë sensu lato. The Kitchingia section comprises only groups having CAM with a high proportion of carbon acquisition by the C3-pathway of photosynthesis. The same holds true for the first three groups of the Bryophyllum section, whereas in the following groups of the section CAM with CO2 proceeding mainly during the night is common. The latter CAM mode is typical also for the majority of groups and species in the section Eukalanchoë. The African Kalanchoë species belong to the Eukalanchoë section, whereas in Madagascar all three sections are abundant. The data support the view that the centre of adaptive radiation of the genus is located in Madagascar. They also suggest that high CAM variability is abundant in the more primitive taxa of the genus, whereas the phylogenetically more derived taxa show a stereotype CAM with CO2 uptake taking place only during the night.  相似文献

Question: The relationship between carbon‐13 in soil organic matter and C3 and C4 plant abundance is complicated because of differential productivity, litter fall and decomposition. As a result, applying a mass balance equation to δ13C data from soils cannot be used to infer past C3 and C4 plant abundance; only the proportion of carbon derived from C3 and C4 plants can be estimated. In this paper, we compare δ13C of surface soil samples with vegetation data, in order to establish whether the ratio of C3:C4 plants (rather than the proportion of carbon from C3 and C4 plants) can be inferred from soil δ13C. Location: The Tsavo National Park, in southeastern Kenya. Methods: We compare vegetation data with δ13C of organic matter in surface soil samples and derive regression equations relating the δ13C of soil organic matter to C3:C4 plant abundance. We use these equations to interpret δ13C data from soil profiles in terms of changes in inferred C3:C4 plant ratio. We compare our method of interpretation with that derived from a mass balance approach. Results: There was a statistically significant, linear relationship between the δ13C of organic matter in surface soil samples and the natural logarithm of the ratio of C3:C4 plants in the 100m2 surrounding the soil sample. Conclusions: We suggest that interpretation of δ13C data from organic matter in soil profiles can be improved by comparing vegetation surveys with δ13C of organic matter in surface soil samples. Our results suggest that past C3 plant abundance might be under‐estimated if a mass balance approach is used.  相似文献

Marine food webs are highly compartmentalized, and characterizing the trophic niches among consumers is important for predicting how impact from human activities affects the structuring and functioning of marine food webs. Biomarkers such as bulk stable isotopes have proven to be powerful tools to elucidate trophic niches, but they may lack in resolution, particularly when spatiotemporal variability in a system is high. To close this gap, we investigated whether carbon isotope (δ13C) patterns of essential amino acids (EAAs), also termed δ13CAA fingerprints, can characterize niche differentiation in a highly dynamic marine system. Specifically, we tested the ability of δ13CAA fingerprints to differentiate trophic niches among six functional groups and ten individual species in the Baltic Sea. We also tested whether fingerprints of the common zooplanktivorous fishes, herring and sprat, differ among four Baltic Sea regions with different biochemical conditions and phytoplankton assemblages. Additionally, we investigated how these results compared to bulk C and N isotope data for the same sample set. We found significantly different δ13CAA fingerprints among all six functional groups. Species differentiation was in comparison less distinct, due to partial convergence of the species' fingerprints within functional groups. Herring and sprat displayed region‐specific δ13CAA fingerprints indicating that this approach could be used as a migratory marker. Niche metrics analyses showed that bulk isotope data had a lower power to differentiate between trophic niches than δ13CAA fingerprinting. We conclude that δ13CAA fingerprinting has a strong potential to advance our understanding of ecological niches, and trophic linkages from producers to higher trophic levels in dynamic marine systems. Given how management practices of marine resources and habitats are reshaping the structure and function of marine food webs, implementing new and powerful tracer methods are urgently needed to improve the knowledge base for policy makers.  相似文献

Spatial variation in mean annual precipitation is the principal driver of plant water and nitrogen status in drylands. The natural abundance of carbon stable isotopes (δ13C) in photosynthetic tissues of C3 plants is an indicator of time‐integrated behaviour of stomatal conductance; while that of nitrogen stable isotopes (δ15N) is an indicator of the main source of plant N (soil N vs. atmospheric N2). Previous studies in drylands have documented that plant δ13C and δ15N values increase with decreasing mean annual precipitation due to reductions in stomatal conductance, and soil enriched in 15N, respectively. However, evidence for this comes from studies focused on stable isotopes measurements integrated at the plant community level or on dominant plants at the site level, but little effort has been made to study C and N isotope variations within a species growing along rainfall gradients. We analysed plant δ13C, δ15N and C/N values of three woody species having different phenological leaf traits (deciduous, perennial and aphyllous) along a regional mean annual precipitation gradient from the central‐western Argentinian drylands. Noticeably, plant δ13C and δ15N values in the three woody species did not increase towards sites with low precipitation or at the start of the growing season (drier period), as we expected. These results suggest that environmental factors other than mean annual precipitation may be affecting plant δ13C and δ15N. The short‐term environmental conditions may interact with species‐specific plant traits related to water and nitrogen use strategies and override the predictive influence of the mean annual precipitation on plant δ13C and δ15N widely reported in drylands.  相似文献

Breeding economically important C4 crops for enhanced whole‐plant water‐use efficiency (WUEplant) is needed for sustainable agriculture. WUEplant is a complex trait and an efficient phenotyping method that reports on components of WUEplant, such as intrinsic water‐use efficiency (WUEi, the rate of leaf CO2 assimilation relative to water loss via stomatal conductance), is needed. In C4 plants, theoretical models suggest that leaf carbon isotope composition (δ13C), when the efficiency of the CO2‐concentrating mechanism (leakiness, ?) remains constant, can be used to screen for WUEi. The limited information about how ? responds to water limitations confines the application of δ13C for WUEi screening of C4 crops. The current research aimed to test the response of ? to short‐ or long‐term moderate water limitations, and the relationship of δ13C with WUEi and WUEplant, by addressing potential mesophyll CO2 conductance (gm) and biochemical limitations in the C4 plant Sorghum bicolor. We demonstrate that gm and ? are not responsive to short‐ or long‐term water limitations. Additionally, δ13C was not correlated with gas‐exchange estimates of WUEi under short‐ and long‐term water limitations, but showed a significant negative relationship with WUEplant. The observed association between the δ13C and WUEplant suggests an intrinsic link of δ13C with WUEi in this C4 plant, and can potentially be used as a screening tool for WUEplant in sorghum.  相似文献

Objective : Development of a model for the prediction of δ13Cprotein from δ13Ccollagen and Δ13Cap‐co. Model‐generated values could, in turn, serve as “consumer” inputs for multisource mixture modeling of paleodiet. Methods : Linear regression analysis of previously published controlled diet data facilitated the development of a mathematical model for predicting δ13Cprotein (and an experimentally generated error term) from isotopic data routinely generated during the analysis of osseous remains (δ13Cco and Δ13Cap‐co). Results : Regression analysis resulted in a two‐term linear model (δ13Cprotein (%) = (0.78 × δ13Cco) ? (0.58× Δ13Cap‐co) ? 4.7), possessing a high R‐value of 0.93 (r2 = 0.86, P < 0.01), and experimentally generated error terms of ±1.9% for any predicted individual value of δ13Cprotein. This model was tested using isotopic data from Formative Period individuals from northern Chile's Atacama Desert. Conclusions : The model presented here appears to hold significant potential for the prediction of the carbon isotope signature of dietary protein using only such data as is routinely generated in the course of stable isotope analysis of human osseous remains. These predicted values are ideal for use in multisource mixture modeling of dietary protein source contribution. Am J Phys Anthropol 157:694–703, 2015. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We compared δ13C and δ15N values of muscle with fin from juvenile Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis), to evaluate the feasibility of using nonlethal (fin) as an alternative to lethal (muscle) sampling. Size and lipid effect on the relationship between fin and muscle were also investigated. Dorsal muscle (DM) and fin clip (FC) were collected from A. sinensis with different body length (120–373 mm) in the Yangtze Estuary for isotope analysis. The result showed that (1) muscle isotope values could estimated by the values of fin, from either use the regression model (δ13CDM = 0.939 × FC ? 2.577; δ15NDM = 0.737 × FC + 4.638) or constants factors (δ13CDM = δ13CFC ? 1.27; δ15NDM = δ15NFC + 0.59); (2) no size‐based relationships with δ13C and δ15N from either fin or muscle; (3) lipid extraction significantly improving the fin and muscle regression model fit for both δ13C and δ15N values. Therefore, this study support the use of nonlethal fin tissues for isotope analysis of juvenile A. sinensis, and will allow trophic studies to avoid the effect of lipid accumulation from muscle.  相似文献

Genetic selection for whole‐plant water use efficiency (yield per transpiration; WUEplant) in any crop‐breeding programme requires high‐throughput phenotyping of component traits of WUEplant such as intrinsic water use efficiency (WUEi; CO2 assimilation rate per stomatal conductance). Measuring WUEi by gas exchange measurements is laborious and time consuming and may not reflect an integrated WUEi over the life of the leaf. Alternatively, leaf carbon stable isotope composition (δ13Cleaf) has been suggested as a potential time‐integrated proxy for WUEi that may provide a tool to screen for WUEplant. However, a genetic link between δ13Cleaf and WUEplant in a C4 species has not been well established. Therefore, to determine if there is a genetic relationship in a C4 plant between δ13Cleaf and WUEplant under well watered and water‐limited growth conditions, a high‐throughput phenotyping facility was used to measure WUEplant in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population created between the C4 grasses Setaria viridis and S. italica. Three quantitative trait loci (QTL) for δ13Cleaf were found and co‐localized with transpiration, biomass accumulation, and WUEplant. Additionally, WUEplant for each of the δ13Cleaf QTL allele classes was negatively correlated with δ13Cleaf, as would be predicted when WUEi influences WUEplant. These results demonstrate that δ13Cleaf is genetically linked to WUEplant, likely to be through their relationship with WUEi, and can be used as a high‐throughput proxy to screen for WUEplant in these C4 species.  相似文献

Stable carbon isotope signatures are often used as tracers for environmentally driven changes in photosynthetic δ13C discrimination. However, carbon isotope signatures downstream from carboxylation by Rubisco are altered within metabolic pathways, transport and respiratory processes, leading to differences in δ13C between carbon pools along the plant axis and in respired CO2. Little is known about the within-plant variation in δ13C under different environmental conditions or between species. We analyzed spatial, diurnal, and environmental variations in δ13C of water soluble organic matter (δ13CWSOM) of leaves, phloem and roots, as well as dark-respired δ13CO213Cres) in leaves and roots. We selected distinct light environments (forest understory and an open area), seasons (Mediterranean spring and summer drought) and three functionally distinct understory species (two native shrubs—Halimium halimifolium and Rosmarinus officinalis—and a woody invader—Acacia longifolia). Spatial patterns in δ13CWSOM along the plant vertical axis and between respired δ13CO2 and its putative substrate were clearly species specific and the most δ13C-enriched and depleted values were found in δ13C of leaf dark-respired CO2 and phloem sugars, ~?15 and ~?33 ‰, respectively. Comparisons between study sites and seasons revealed that spatial and diurnal patterns were influenced by environmental conditions. Within a species, phloem δ13CWSOM and δ13Cres varied by up to 4 ‰ between seasons and sites. Thus, careful characterization of the magnitude and environmental dependence of apparent post-carboxylation fractionation is needed when using δ13C signatures to trace changes in photosynthetic discrimination.  相似文献

Modern laminated photosynthetic microbial mats are ideal environments to study how microbial activity creates and modifies carbon and sulfur isotopic signatures prior to lithification. Laminated microbial mats from a hypersaline lagoon (Guerrero Negro, Baja California, Mexico) maintained in a flume in a greenhouse at NASA Ames Research Center were sampled for δ13C of organic material and carbonate to assess the impact of carbon fixation (e.g., photosynthesis) and decomposition (e.g., bacterial respiration) on δ13C signatures. In the photic zone, the δ13Corg signature records a complex relationship between the activities of cyanobacteria under variable conditions of CO2 limitation with a significant contribution from green sulfur bacteria using the reductive TCA cycle for carbon fixation. Carbonate is present in some layers of the mat, associated with high concentrations of bacteriochlorophyll e (characteristic of green sulfur bacteria) and exhibits δ13C signatures similar to DIC in the overlying water column (?2.0‰), with small but variable decreases consistent with localized heterotrophic activity from sulfate‐reducing bacteria (SRB). Model results indicate respiration rates in the upper 12 mm of the mat alter in situ pH and concentrations to create both phototrophic CO2 limitation and carbonate supersaturation, leading to local precipitation of carbonate minerals. The measured activity of SRB with depth suggests they variably contribute to decomposition in the mat dependent on organic substrate concentrations. Millimeter‐scale variability in the δ13Corg signature beneath the photic zone in the mat is a result of shifting dominance between cyanobacteria and green sulfur bacteria with the aggregate signature overprinted by heterotrophic reworking by SRB and methanogens. These observations highlight the impact of sedimentary microbial processes on δ13Corg signatures; these processes need to be considered when attempting to relate observed isotopic signatures in ancient sedimentary strata to conditions in the overlying water column at the time of deposition and associated inferences about carbon cycling.  相似文献

The efficiency of water use to produce biomass is a key trait in designing sustainable bioenergy‐devoted systems. We characterized variations in the carbon isotope composition (δ13C) of leaves, current year wood and holocellulose (as proxies for water use efficiency, WUE) among six poplar genotypes in a short‐rotation plantation. Values of δ13Cwood and δ13Cholocellulose were tightly and positively correlated, but the offset varied significantly among genotypes (0.79–1.01‰). Leaf phenology was strongly correlated with δ13C, and genotypes with a longer growing season showed a higher WUE. In contrast, traits related to growth and carbon uptake were poorly linked to δ13C. Trees growing on former pasture with higher N‐availability displayed higher δ13C as compared with trees growing on former cropland. The positive relationships between δ13Cleaf and leaf N suggested that spatial variations in WUE over the plantation were mainly driven by an N‐related effect on photosynthetic capacities. The very coherent genotype ranking obtained with δ13C in the different tree compartments has some practical outreach. Because WUE remains largely uncoupled from growth in poplar plantations, there is potential to identify genotypes with satisfactory growth and higher WUE.  相似文献

Photosynthetic activity in carbonate‐rich benthic microbial mats located in saline, alkaline lakes on the Cariboo Plateau, B.C. resulted in pCO2 below equilibrium and δ13CDIC values up to +6.0‰ above predicted carbon dioxide (CO2) equilibrium values, representing a biosignature of photosynthesis. Mat‐associated δ13Ccarb values ranged from ~4 to 8‰ within any individual lake, with observations of both enrichments (up to 3.8‰) and depletions (up to 11.6‰) relative to the concurrent dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC). Seasonal and annual variations in δ13C values reflected the balance between photosynthetic 13C‐enrichment and heterotrophic inputs of 13C‐depleted DIC. Mat microelectrode profiles identified oxic zones where δ13Ccarb was within 0.2‰ of surface DIC overlying anoxic zones associated with sulphate reduction where δ13Ccarb was depleted by up to 5‰ relative to surface DIC reflecting inputs of 13C‐depleted DIC. δ13C values of sulphate reducing bacteria biomarker phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA) were depleted relative to the bulk organic matter by ~4‰, consistent with heterotrophic synthesis, while the majority of PLFA had larger offsets consistent with autotrophy. Mean δ13Corg values ranged from ?18.7 ± 0.1 to ?25.3 ± 1.0‰ with mean Δ13Cinorg‐org values ranging from 21.1 to 24.2‰, consistent with non‐CO2‐limited photosynthesis, suggesting that Precambrian δ13Corg values of ~?26‰ do not necessitate higher atmospheric CO2 concentrations. Rather, it is likely that the high DIC and carbonate content of these systems provide a non‐limiting carbon source allowing for expression of large photosynthetic offsets, in contrast to the smaller offsets observed in saline, organic‐rich and hot spring microbial mats.  相似文献

Stable carbon isotopes are used extensively to partition total soil CO2 efflux into root-derived rhizosphere respiration or autotrophic respiration and soil-derived heterotrophic respiration. However, it remains unclear whether CO2 from rhizosphere respiration has the same δ13C value as root biomass. Here we investigated the magnitude of 13C isotope fractionation during rhizosphere respiration relative to root biomass in six plant species. Plants were grown in a carbon-free sand-perlite medium inoculated with microorganisms from a farm soil for 62 days inside a greenhouse. We measured the δ13C value of rhizosphere respiration using a closed-circulation 48-hour CO2 trapping method during 40~42 and 60~62 days after sowing. We found a consistent depletion in 13C (0.9~1.7‰) of CO2 from rhizosphere respiration relative to root biomass in three C3 species (Glycine max L. Merr., Helianthus annuus L. and Triticum aestivum L.), but a relatively large depletion in 13C (3.7~7.0‰) in three C4 species (Amaranthus tricolor L., Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench and Zea mays L. ssp. mays). Overall, our results indicate that CO2 from rhizosphere respiration is more 13C-depleted than root biomass. Therefore, accounting for this 13C fractionation is required for accurately partitioning total soil CO2 efflux into root-derived and soil-derived components using natural abundance stable carbon isotope methods.  相似文献

Using both oxygen isotope ratios of leaf water (δ18OL) and cellulose (δ18OC) of Tillandsia usneoides in situ, this paper examined how short‐ and long‐term responses to environmental variation and model parameterization affected the reconstruction of the atmospheric water vapour (δ18Oa). During sample‐intensive field campaigns, predictions of δ18OL matched observations well using a non‐steady‐state model, but the model required data‐rich parameterization. Predictions from the more easily parameterized maximum enrichment model (δ18OL–M) matched observed δ18OL and observed δ18Oa when leaf water turnover was less than 3.5 d. Using the δ18OL–M model and weekly samples of δ18OL across two growing seasons in Florida, USA, reconstructed δ18Oa was ?12.6 ± 0.3‰. This is compared with δ18Oa of ?12.4 ± 0.2‰ resolved from the growing‐season‐weighted δ18OC. Both of these values were similar to δ18Oa in equilibrium with precipitation, ?12.9‰. δ18Oa was also reconstructed through a large‐scale transect with δ18OL and the growing‐season‐integrated δ18OC across the southeastern United States. There was considerable large‐scale variation, but there was regional, weather‐induced coherence in δ18Oa when using δ18OL. The reconstruction of δ18Oa with δ18OC generally supported the assumption of δ18Oa being in equilibrium with precipitation δ18O (δ18Oppt), but the pool of δ18Oppt with which δ18Oa was in equilibrium – growing season versus annual δ18Oppt – changed with latitude.  相似文献

Accurate modelling of long‐term changes in plant stomatal functioning is vital to global climate change studies because changes in evapotranspiration influence temperature via physiological forcing of the climate. Various stomatal models are included in land surface schemes, but their robustness over longer timescales is difficult to validate. We compare the performance of three stomatal models, varying in their degree of complexity, and coupled to a land surface model. This is carried out by simulating the carbon isotope ratio of tree leaves (δ13Cleaf) over a period of 53 years, and comparing the results with carbon isotope ratios obtained from tree rings (δ13Cstem) measured at six sites in northern Europe. All three stomatal models fail to capture the observed interannual variability in the measured δ13Cstem time series. However, the Soil‐Plant‐Atmosphere (SPA) model performs significantly better than the Ball‐Berry (BB) or COX models when tested for goodness‐of‐fit against measured δ13Cstem. The δ13Cleaf time series simulated using the SPA model are significantly positively correlated (P < 0.05) with measured results over the full time period tested, at all six sites. The SPA model underestimates interannual variability measured in δ13Cstem, but is no worse than the BB model and significantly better than the COX model. The inability of current models to adequately replicate changes in stomatal response to rising levels of CO2 concentrations, and thus to quantify the associated physiological forcing, warrants further investigation.  相似文献

The use of efficient selection traits for screening under contrasting irrigation water salinity is a challenge for breeders. To identify patterns, grain yield (GY) and yield components (kernels m?2, thousand kernels weight), growth traits (plant height, biomass), flag leaf ion accumulation (Na+ and K+), carbon isotope composition (δ13Cgrain) and nitrogen concentration (Ngrain) of grains were assessed on 25 durum wheat genotypes (G) in two consecutive growing seasons (2010 and 2011), in three semi‐arid locations in Tunisia. Each location differed in their irrigation water salinity as measured by electrical conductivity: Echbika (S1, 6 dS m?1), Barrouta (S2, 12 dS m?1) and Sidi Bouzid (S3, 18 dS m?1). GY was shown to be negatively correlated to Ngrain as well as to δ13Cgrain. This is confirmed by a multiple linear regression analysis that showed that both δ13Cgrain and Ngrain were the major determinant components for GY variability under S3. A high genotypic variability was observed and the improved genotype Maali exhibited the most stable GY under the three irrigation water salinities and the two cropping seasons. Maali showed the lowest δ13Cgrain. This indicates that tolerance in durum wheat is likely to be correlated to the ability of maintaining a high stomatal conductance. According to our data suggests δ13Cgrain can be used for an efficient screening of salt tolerant durum wheat. Under our experimental conditions, Ngrain was shown to be highly correlated to δ13Cgrain and can therefore be easier‐to‐use trait to assess the tolerance to salinity.  相似文献

Variations in δ13C and δ15N might arise from differences in nutrient allocation. Residence times of δ13C and δ15N vary among tissues depending on metabolic turnover rates. However, because of their small size, entire individual insects are generally used as single samples in isotope analyses. The present study aimed to determine the degree of isotope similarity among regions of the adult body and eggs in four species of Plecoptera (Amphinemura sp., Sweltsa sp., Kamimuria tibialis Pictet and Ostrovus sp.). Levels of δ13C and δ15N differ between the four species, being lowest in Amphinemura sp., and with δ15N being highest in Sweltsa sp. Egg masses contain consistently the lowest values of δ13C in the four species, with the δ15N value of eggs being highest in K. tibialis and Ostrovus sp., and lower in Amphinemura and Sweltsa spp. In Sweltsa sp., the δ15N levels of the dermal layers and cuticle are lowest, whereas the δ13C values of the dermal layers and cuticle are almost equal to those in other regions of the body, except egg masses. Oviposited individuals of Amphinemura and Sweltsa spp. have lower δ15N levels than individuals that have not oviposited. The rates of metabolism and incorporation of dietary metabolites will differ depending on the body regions and species. Differences in egg ecology such as egg developmental period and egg buoyancy among species are considered to impact on the values of δ13C and δ15N. These results will be useful for understanding the nutritional status of aquatic insects and their energy allocation.  相似文献

1. Methanogenic carbon can be incorporated by methane‐oxidising bacteria, leading to a 13C‐depleted stable carbon isotopic composition (δ13C) of chironomids that feed on these microorganisms. This has been shown for the chironomid tribe Chironomini, but very little information is available about the δ13C of other abundant chironomid groups and the relationship between chironomid δ13C and methane production in lakes. 2. Methane flux was measured at the water surface of seven lakes in Sweden. Furthermore, fluxes from the sediments to the water column were measured in transects in two of the lakes. Methane fluxes were then compared with δ13C of chitinous chironomid remains isolated from the lake surface sediments. Several different chironomid groups were examined (Chironomini, Orthocladiinae, Tanypodinae and Tanytarsini). 3. Remains of Orthocladiinae in the seven study lakes had the highest δ13C values (?31.3 to ?27.0‰), most likely reflecting δ13C of algae and other plant‐derived organic matter. Remains of Chironomini and Tanypodinae had lower δ13C values (?33.2 to ?27.6‰ and ?33.6 to ?28.0‰, respectively). A significant negative correlation was observed between methane fluxes at the lake surface and δ13C of Chironomini (r = ?0.90, P = 0.006). Methane release from the sediments was also negatively correlated with δ13C of Chironomini (r = ?0.67, P = 0.025) in the transect samples obtained from two of the lakes. The remains of other chironomid taxa were only weakly or not correlated with methane fluxes measured in our study lakes (P > 0.05). 4. Selective incorporation of methane‐derived carbon can explain the observed correlations between methane fluxes and δ13C values of Chironomini. Remains of this group might therefore have the potential to provide information about past changes in methane availability in lakes using sediment records. However, differences in productivity, algal δ13C composition and the importance of allochthonous organic matter input between the studied lakes may also have influenced Chironomini δ13C. More detailed studies with a higher number of analysed samples and detailed measurement of δ13C of different ecosystem components (e.g. methane, dissolved inorganic carbon) will be necessary to further resolve the relative contribution of different carbon sources to δ13C of chironomid remains.  相似文献
