Hessian fly, Mayetiola destructor (Say), is a residue-borne pest of spring wheat that can become important in reduced tillage production systems. The relative abundance of Hessian fly was examined on spring wheat cultivars grown under conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT) practices in northern Idaho from 2000 to 2002. Six cultivars were tested: Hessian fly-susceptible 'Penawawa' and'Westbred 936' and -resistant (H3 gene) 'Wawawai', 'Jefferson', 'Hank', and 'Westbred 926.' Hessian fly egg densities were not significantly different among treatments, indicating ovipositing females showed no preference for tillage treatment or cultivar. Mean number of Hessian fly puparia per plant was significantly greater in CT plots during the last sampling in 2000; however, in 2001, NT plots had significantly more puparia than CT plots. Tillage had no significant effect on mean Hessian fly per plant in 2002. Significantly more puparia were observed on susceptible compared with resistant cultivars in 2000 and 2002. In 2001, susceptible Penawawa had significantly more puparia than resistant cultivars, whereas puparial densities on susceptible Westbred 936 were higher than on resistant cultivars other than Wawawai. Yield and 100-seed weight were not affected by tillage treatment. Significant variation in yield among cultivars was observed only in 2000, when fly-resistant Hank yielded the highest. Hank had the highest 100-seed weight in 2000 and 2001, whereas Penawawa and Jefferson had the lowest 100-seed weights each year. Reduced tillage had no consistent effect on spring wheat yield or abundance of Hessian fly under the conditions of our trials, which evaluated small plots.  相似文献

The effects of stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) infestation on the establishment of white clover sown in mixed swards with perennial ryegrass, were investigated in two field trials. Clover cultivars known to have different degrees of resistance were sown on land in which stem nematode was controlled either by aldicarb (Experiment 1) or crop rotation (Experiment 2). The establishment of white clover was greatly improved and subsequent clover yields were inversely related to stem nematode infestation. At the first harvest after sowing, clover yields were 3.6 and 3.3 times greater from aldicarb and rotation treatment plots than from check plots; over the first nine months, total clover yields were increased by 3.5 and 8.9 times by aldicarb and rotation treatments. In both trials, plots of resistant cultivars had less stem nematode infestation and yielded better than the very susceptible cultivar, S184. Stem nematode infestations eventually developed on all plots, after the establishment phase. This is the first report showing that resistant cultivars improve establishment of clover in mixed swards on stem nematode infested soils. In both experiments, plots became dominated by clover and even cv. S184 eventually produced good clover swards. Aldicarb and rotation treatments also controlled clover cyst and root lesion nematodes, and numbers of these were inversely related to first harvest yields. Other soil borne pests and diseases, although not prominent, have not been ruled out as possible confounding factors. There was no correlation between grass yield and aldicarb treatment.  相似文献

Among the cereal cyst nematodes, Heterodera filipjevi is the dominant species of Cereal cyst nematodes (CCNs) in most cereal growing areas of Iran. To evaluate the impact of H. filipjevi on wheat cultivars, a field trial was performed in two infested fields in Isfahan province, Iran 2014 and 2015. The trials were conducted in a factorial experiment based on the complete randomized block design. The treatments consisted of three winter wheat cultivars (Back‐cross Rowshan, Pishtaz and Parsi) which were planted with and without applying nematicide aldicarb Each cultivar was planted in 6 m2 (2 × 3 m) plots which were replicated five times. The nematode reproduction factor was calculated after determining the initial and final population of H. filipjevi in each plot before sowing the seeds and after harvesting. The grain yields and growth parameters were recorded and the variables of 2 years experiment evaluated by linear regression analysis. Cultivar × nematicide treatment combinations in the first and second years showed that H. filipjevi significantly affected grain yield and growth parameters in all three cultivars. The results revealed significant reduction of grain yield by 24.8%, 24.8% and 20.4% in Back‐cross Rowshan, Pishtaz and Parsi cultivars, respectively. The nematode reproduction factor ranged from 0.32 to 1.76 in plots plus and minus nematicide application, respectively. The analysis showed linear inverse relationships between the initial population (Pi) and the yields of wheat cultivars in check plots without aldicarb application.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted for control of the southern root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) and cotton seedling disease fungi (primarily Thielaviopsis basicola) in one naturally infested field during 1999 and 2000 and in three additional fields in 2000. Treatments included: seed-applied fungicides (triadimenol + mefenoxam + thiram and carboxin + PCNB + mefenoxam), cultivars (Paymaster [PM] 2326 RR and PM 2200 RR), and a nematicide (aldicarb at 0.83 kg a.i/ha). Plant stands were higher (P = 0.02) in the presence of aldicarb (77% emergence) than in its absence (74% emergence). Hypocotyl disease symptom ratings were lower (P = 0.0001) following triadimenol + mefenoxam + thiram seed treatment (0.53) as compared with carboxin + PCNB + mefenoxam (0.93). Root necrosis was lower (P = 0.002) following triadimenol + mefenoxam + thiram seed treatment (27%) as compared with carboxin + PCNB + mefenoxam (34%). In one field, in both years, aldicarb was associated with more root necrosis (58%) than in its absence (46%) (P = 0.004). At three other sites aldicarb did not affect root necrosis. Population densities of Meloidogyne incognita eggs and juveniles at midseason were greater (P = 0.005, P = 0.003, respectively) on PM 2200 RR (less resistant) than on PM 2326 RR (more resistant). Yield was affected by the plant genotype by aldicarb interaction (P = 0.02) but not by seed treatments. Aldicarb effect on yield was dependent on cultivar, whereas affect of seed treatment on root health was consistent and independent of cultivar and aldicarb. No conditions were identified when use of triadimenol + mefenoxam was detrimental.  相似文献

A soybean cyst nematode sex pheromone (vanillic acid), chemical analogs of the pheromone, and the fungus Verticillium lecanii were applied in alginate prills (340 kg/ha) to microplots and small-scale field plots as potential management agents for Heterodera glycines on soybean. In 1991 microplot tests, treatment with V. lecanii, vanillic acid, syringic acid plus V. lecanii, or vanillic acid plus V. lecanii lowered midseason cyst numbers compared with the untreated susceptible cultivar control, autoclaved V. lecanii treatment, or aldicarb treatment, At-harvest cyst numbers were lowest with V. lecanii and with vanillic acid treatments. Aldicarb treatment reduced midseason cyst numbers in 1992. There were no differences among seed yields either year. In the field trials, numbers of cysts were reduced one or both years with aldicarb, ferulic acid, syringic acid, vanillic acid, or 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzonitfile treatments, or with a resistant cultivar, compared to an untreated susceptible cultivar. Highest yields were recorded after treatment with 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzonitrile (1991), methyl vanillate (1992), and aldicarb (1992). These studies indicate that some chemical analogs of vanillic acid have potential for use in soybean cyst nematode management schemes.  相似文献

为筛选针对我国黄淮麦区小麦茎腐病抗病新种质,建立可区分小麦其他茎基部病害的茎腐病抗性鉴定方法,本文采用室内苗期鉴定方法对主要来自黄淮麦区的108份小麦品种和高代品系进行茎腐病抗性评价,对其中45份小麦材料同时采用荧光定量PCR方法测定基部茎秆的禾谷镰刀菌DNA含量并与其茎腐病平均病级进行相关分析。共筛选到中抗茎腐病材料22份,未发现高抗和免疫品种(系);相关分析结果表明,小麦基部茎秆禾谷镰刀菌DNA含量与其茎腐病平均病级呈极显著正相关(r=0.73**),小麦基部茎秆禾谷镰刀菌DNA含量可以作为小麦茎腐病抗性的重要参考。抗病新种质的筛选和荧光定量PCR抗性评价方法的建立将为今后黄淮麦区小麦抗茎腐病品种的培育提供帮助。  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted in 1982 and 1983 to assess interactions between Heterodera glycines and Pratylenchus scribneri on soybean in southern Illinois. Soybean cyst nematode susceptible cultivar Williams 79 and resistant cultivar Fayette were treated or not treated with aldicarb 15G. Initial population densities were 35 H. glycines cysts containing eggs, 100 P. scribneri, 30 Helicotylenchus pseudorobustus, 225 Paratylenchus projectus, and 85 Tylenchorhynchus martini per 250 cm³ soil in 1982, whereas in 1983 populations were 11 H. glycines cysts, 330 P. scribneri, and 620 H. pseudorobustus. In both years H. glycines populations increased on nontreated Williams 79, decreased on both treated and nontreated Fayette, and remained at initial levels on treated Williams 79. Recovery of P. scribneri per gram dry root was different between nontreated cultivars in 1982 but not in 1983. Aldicarb treatment suppressed soil and root populations of P. scribneri on both cultivars in both years. Populations of H. pseudorobustus, P. projectus, and T. martini at harvest indicated little population increase on either nontreated cultivar. In 1982 H. glycines caused yield suppression but P. scribneri did not, as differences in yield occurred between cultivars but not between aldicarb treatments. In 1983, however, there were no yield differences between cultivars, but aldicarb application resulted in yield increase in both cultivars. In 1983 the yield increase resulting from P. scribneri control was approximately 25%. No synergistic effect on yield was observed between H. glycines and P. scribneri.  相似文献

Three field experiments were made to determine the effectiveness of small-plot trials in detecting differences between potato cultivars/clones in their tolerance of damage by potato cyst-nematodes. A nematicide (aldicarb) was applied at three rates to decrease nematode damage. The largest rate of aldicarb increased tuber yields most but the relationship between yield response and nematicide rate was not linear. The yield increases of the cultivars and clones differed, indicating that they have different degrees of tolerance of potato cyst nematodes. The results were analysed in several ways and the untreated yield as a proportion of the treated provided the best means of expressing and comparing tolerance; but whichever method was used the tolerance rankings of the cultivars and clones were similar. At two sites infested with Globodera rostochiensis, the rankings of the 10 cultivars and clones were similar but at a third site, heavily infested with G. pallida, they were different. Aldicarb decreased the nematode population density after harvest at the G. pallida site but was less effective at the G. rostochiensis sites, which were less heavily infested. Growing resistant or partially resistant potatoes usually prevented nematode increase, and the more resistant cultivars and clones decreased population densities markedly.  相似文献

Root rot and crown rot of rice is one of the important fungal diseases of rice in Gilan and Zanjan provinces, Iran. During 1999--2002, samples of plant and soil around the roots of infected rice plants were collected and used to identify the causal agent. Root and crown parts were surface sterilized with sodium hypochlorite and then cultured on PDA (potato dextrose agar), PPA (pepton pentacholoritobenzene agar) and CLA (carnation leaf agar) media. Soil samples prepared in water agar were used to isolate the pathogen. The causal agent was identified as Fusarium moniliforme. Colonies were initially white but turned violet to grey late. Microconidia were arranged in chain and macroconidia were cylindrical and long with 3-5 septa. The disease was severe in Zanjan province particularly along Ghezel Ozan river where the infection ranged from 70-80%. Root and crown rot was more prevalent in areas where Champa and Gerdeh were being cultivated continuously. On the other hand, Sadri cultivars had relatively less infection. Persistent cultivation of rice and seed sowing method intensified disease development and caused significant economic losses.  相似文献

The control of potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis) by the oxime-carbamates aldicarb and oxamyl was tested in four fields in Scotland. Dazomet was tested in three of these fields and carbofuran in one. In untreated plots in the three most heavily infested fields Maris Piper (resistant) yielded better than Pentland Crown (non-resistant). All nematicides increased the yields of both potato cultivars but had a greater effect on the yield of Pentland Crown. Dazomet increased yields of tubers most. Heavy nematode infestation reduced yield of tubers more in a sandy soil than in two sandy loams. In a field with few potato cyst nematodes nematicides did not significantly affect tuber yields. Although the nematicides greatly increased yields, they were not completely effective in controlling potato cyst nematodes. In treated plots in the lightly infested field, there were more nematode eggs following a crop of Pentland Crown than before. In contrast, Maris Piper markedly decreased post-cropping populations and except at one site, where dazomet further decreased nematode numbers, combining nematicides with the resistant cultivar failed to decrease nematode numbers further. Nematicides decreased the numbers of larvae invading potato roots by up to 95%, oxamyl at 5–6 kg/ha being consistently the best treatment.  相似文献

采用盆栽方法,研究了土壤水分对专用小麦生育后期光合特性及产量的影响.结果表明,强筋小麦豫麦34旗叶叶绿素计读数(SPAD值)、PSⅡ活性(Fv/Fo)和PSⅡ最大光能转换效率(Fv/Fm)在土壤相对含水量60%(FC)的条件下最高,光化学猝灭系数(qP)、非光化学猝灭系数(qN)、有效电子传递速率(ETR)和传递的量子产率(Φ2)在80%FC下最高;高产小麦豫麦49旗叶SPAD值、qP、qN、ETR均以80%FC下最高,Fv/Fo、Fv/Fm和φ2受土壤水分影响不大;弱筋小麦豫麦0,除qN在80%FC下最低外,其余光合特性参数均以80%FC的条件下最高.豫麦34产量和蛋白质含量均以60%FC最高,且产量达极显著差异;豫麦49和豫麦0籽粒蛋白质含量以40%FC最高,籽粒产量以80%FC最高,且豫麦49产质差异均达显著水平,而豫麦0的产量差异达极显著水平.  相似文献

Nematode and disease problems of irrigated, double-cropped soybean and corn, and zinc deficiency of corn were investigated. Ethylene dibromide, phenamiphos, and aldicarb were equally effective for controlling nematodes and increasing yields of corn planted minimum-till and soybean planted in a moldboard plow prepared seedbed. The residual effects on yields of nematicides applied to the preceeding crop occurred during 3 years for soybean and 1 year for corn. Fusarium wilt symptoms of soybean that developed during 2 years of the study were less severe in all nematicide-treated plots than in control plots. Typical zinc deficiency symptoms on 30-day-old corn plants were observed during 1 year of the study in certain plots. Symptoms were not evident on plants grown on plots treated with ethylene dibromide, and only occasional plants had symptoms on plots treated with phenamiphos and aldicarb. The amount of yield response directly related to nematode control could not be determined because of the apparent interaction of nematodes on the expression of Fusarium wilt of soybean. Our study strongly indicates that the expression of Fusarium wilt of soybean and zinc deficiency in corn are influenced by nematodes and that nematicides will reduce their severity.  相似文献

During a period of five years (1998‐2002), 26 strawberry cultivars and five selections were tested for resistance to crown rot. Cold stored plants inoculated with zoospores of Phytophthora cactorum were used in all experiments. The results showed that resistance to P. cactorum varies greatly between cultivars, and the most resistant ones were Senga Sengana, Induka, Melody, Glima and Bogota, while the most susceptible were Tamella, Inga, Evita and Jonsok. The results were compared to those obtained by other authors, and there were clear indications that the genetic background affects the degree of susceptibility to P. cactorum. Many of the most resistant cultivars descend from Senga Sengana (e.g. Bounty, Glima, Induka and Melody), and several of the most susceptible cultivars have common parentage (e.g. Inga, Tamella, Elsanta and Evita). In a resistance test of the progeny from two separate crosses between a resistant and a susceptible cultivar 61% and 65% of the offspring were intermediately to very susceptible, and 17% and 13% were resistant at the level of Senga Sengana. Hence, there is a high risk of losing offspring with high levels of resistance if selection for resistance to crown rot is not performed at an early stage in a breeding programme.  相似文献

The focus of the present study was to compare ultrastructure in the midguts of larvae of the Hessian fly, Mayetiola destructor (Say), under different feeding regimens. Larvae were either fed on Hessian fly-resistant or -susceptible wheat, and each group was compared to starved larvae. Within 3 h of larval Hessian fly feeding on resistant wheat, midgut microvilli were disrupted, and after 6 h, microvilli were absent. The disruption in microvilli in larvae feeding on resistant wheat were similar to those reported for midgut microvilli of European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilasis (Hubner), larvae fed a diet containing wheat germ agglutinin. Results from the present ultrastructural study, coupled with previous studies documenting expression of genes encoding lectin and lectin-like proteins is rapidly up-regulated in resistant wheat to larval Hessian fly, are indications that the midgut is a target of plant resistance compounds. In addition, the midgut of the larval Hessian fly is apparently unique among other dipterans in that no peritrophic membrane was observed. Ultrastructural changes in the midgut are discussed from the prospective of their potential affects on the gut physiology of Hessian fly larvae and the mechanism of antibiosis in the resistance of wheat to Hessian fly attack.  相似文献

Seven trials conducted over four years on sites naturally infested with the white potato cyst nematode established that potato clones bred for resistance to Globodera pallida allowed significantly less nematode multiplication than conventional cultivars under field conditions. Nematode multiplication was inversely related to initial infestation level. The nematicide, aldicarb, significantly reduced nematode multiplication. However, nematode multiplication on nematicide treated susceptible cultivars was greater than on untreated partially resistant clones, indicating that resistance may offer more effective control of G. pallida than chemical treatment. Integration of host plant resistance and nematicide treatment is discussed.  相似文献

小麦茎基腐病是由镰孢菌侵染引起的一种世界性土传病害,近年来已严重威胁到我国小麦的安全生产。为筛选具有茎基腐病抗性的小麦种质资源,本研究采用孢子悬浮液浸种法,分别以国外抗病材料Sunco和中国品种陕253为抗病和感病对照,对670份我国小麦品种(系)进行了茎基腐病温室苗期抗性鉴定。结果发现,我国供试品种(系)感病材料(病情指数>30)所占比例达到84%,且包含多个近年来小麦生产中的主推品种,表明我国小麦品种总体抗性水平低是导致茎基腐病近年来发病频率与程度不断增加的重要原因之一。经多轮筛选,发掘获得15份抗病表现稳定、抗性水平与抗病对照Sunco相仿的材料。15份材料平均病情指数在10.9~19.4之间,其株高、抽穗期等农艺性状表现出较为丰富的变异,为我国小麦抗茎基腐病品种选育和抗性遗传研究提供了种质资源。  相似文献

Rotylenchulus reniformis resistant LONREN-1×FM966 breeding lines developed at Auburn University have demonstrated that the nematode resistance is accompanied by severe stunting, limited growth, and low yields. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of applying nematicides to selected LONREN breeding lines on R. reniformis nematode populations, plant stunting, and yield. Four resistant breeding lines from the LONREN-1×FM966 cross, one susceptible line from the LONREN-1×FM966 cross, as well as LONREN-1, BARBREN-713, and the susceptible cultivar DP393 were evaluated with and without nematicides in the presence of R. reniformis. In the greenhouse, nematicides increased plant height across all genotypes compared with no nematicide. Rotylenchulus reniformis populations were 50% lower in the resistant lines compared with the susceptible lines at 45 days after planting (DAP). In microplot and field trials, the phenotypic stunting of all genotypes was reduced by aldicarb with increases in plant heights at 30 and 75 DAP. Increases in yields were evident across all genotypes treated with aldicarb. In all three trial environments, BARBREN-713 outperformed the LONREN-derived lines as well as ‘DP393’ in seed cotton yields, while having significantly lower R. reniformis egg densities than the susceptible genotypes.  相似文献

The effects of the cereal cyst-nematode, Heterodera auenae Woll. on resistant and susceptible oat cultivars, with and without aldicarb treatment, were compared on a clay-with-flints soil at Rothamsted and a loamy sand at Woburn. At both sites, when H. auenae was extremely scarce, yields were not further enhanced by aldicarb. At Rothamsted aldicarb increased yields by 48–72% when H. auenae averaged 10 eggs/g soil. At Woburn, aldicarb increased yields of both susceptible and resistant varieties by 80–90% with 20 eggs/g. The resistant varieties conferred yield benefits in the following oat crop equal to the residual effects of aldicarb applied before the previous crop, demonstrating that H. auenae was wholly responsible for the yield losses. Nematode resistant oats suffered as much or more damage from root invasion by H. auenae juveniles as the susceptible varieties but the resulting decrease in nematode numbers led to considerable yield improvements in the following year. At Woburn in 1977, when formalin was an added treatment, fewer females were infected by parasitic fungi and post-crop egg numbers were greater.  相似文献

The level of resistance to root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, in NemX, a new cultivar of the Acala-type upland cotton, was evaluated in relation to four resistant breeding lines (N6072, N8577, N901, and N903) and four susceptible cultivars (Maxxa, SJ2, Royale, and Prema). In growth pouch tests, an average of only 4 nematode egg masses was produced on roots of NemX or the resistant lines, compared to a significantly higher average of 21 on the susceptible cultivars. In pot tests, the nematode reproduction factor (RF = Pf/Pi) in NemX and the resistant lines averaged 0.7, compared to a significantly higher average of 10 on the susceptible cultivars. Root galling in NemX or other resistant cotton averaged 15%, compared to 74% on the susceptible cultivars, in either pot or field tests. In plots with low levels of nematode infestation (Pi ≤ 150 second-stage juveniles [J2]/500 g soil), lint yield of NemX averaged 1,370 kg/ha and was less than the yield of susceptible Maxxa (1,450 k g /h a ). However, in plots with medium or high levels of nematode infestation (Pi = 151-300 or >300 J2/500 g soil, respectively), yields of NemX decreased only slightly and averaged 1,300 or 1,050 kg/ha, respectively, whereas yields of Maxxa were severely reduced to 590 or 503 kg/ha, respectively. Fusarium wih symptoms were observed on both NemX and Maxxa, and percent occurrence increased with increasing preplant nematode density. In plots with the highest nematode densities, 22% of NemX and 65% of Maxxa plants were wilted. NemX was highly effective against five M. incognita isolates and moderately effective against a sixth isolate that had been exposed to resistant cotton over several seasons. These results showed that NemX is as resistant to M. incognita as the four breeding lines, and much more resistant than the tested susceptible cultivars of cotton.  相似文献

Alternate planting dates and periodic destruction of the previous year''s soybean crop as well as 1-year bare fallow were used to establish a range of population densities ofHeterodera glycines for the subsequent year. Soybean cultivar Coker 156 (susceptible, moderately tolerant) was compared to cultivars Essex (susceptible, intolerant) and Bedford (resistant) to evaluate tolerance at different H. glycines population densities established through the previous year''s treatments. Yield of Coker 156 was consistently intermediate between yields of Bedford and Essex in 1986 and 1987. Yield of Essex was negatively correlated (P = 0.05) with preplant egg numbers of H. glycines in 1987, whereas yield of Bedford and Coker 156 were not related to nematode density. Reproduction of H. glycines was greater (P = 0.05) on the moderately tolerant Coker 156 than on either of the other cultivars.  相似文献
