This article presents a synthesis of the relationships between plants and climates at the scale of France, based on a probabilistic classification of 1874 bio-indicators. This classification defines plants groups that indicate the climate, named phytoclimates, expressing the climatic gradients in France. This classification shows 210 phytoclimatic groups distributed into ten cluster levels. The analysis of the various hierarchical levels shows two main phytoclimates testifying the importance of the marine masses and the altitude. The analysis of the third hierarchical level underlines particular phytoclimates which would not be easily recognizable by only analysing the overlapping of floristic and climatic territories. This classification allows one to select taxa that are indicators of the climate. The distribution monitoring or modeling of these taxa should show the effects of the global change on the ecosystems.  相似文献

This article presents a method for determining the rate constant for deactivation and the internal distribution of immobilized enzyme. This method makes use of the parallel deactivation process in a diffusion-controlled regime, in which the internal activity profile behaves like a penetration front. This front basically traces through the initial active enzymatic profile, and one can determine the internal profile and the rate constant for deactivation from the experimentally observable bulk concentration versus time. This method is applied to the experimental data of the system of hydrogen-peroxide-immobilized catalase on controlled pore glass and Si-Al particles.  相似文献

Amphibians are declining worldwide.At the same time,each year many species of amphibians are described,indicating that biological diversity on Earth remains poorly understood.This is especially true for mountainous regions,such as the Himalayas,which are also regarded as a biodiversity hotspot.However,it is most likely that the current diversity of amphibians in Nepal is highly underestimated.Amphibian inventories by the past researchers primarily used phenotypic characters as the basis for species identification.However,the application of molecular systematics methods to taxonomic studies has successfully uncovered the taxonomic status of several cryptic taxa.This study used both molecular(16 S rDNA sequences)and morphological comparisons and estimated the diversity of amphibians from Nepal.This study reports the occurrence of 38 species of amphibians based on both molecular and morphological comparisons.Among them,three species were recorded for the first time in Nepal.This study also invalids the taxonomic status of Sphaerotheca paschima.This study highlights the importa nce of integrative taxonomic approaches that help to resolve the current taxonomic ambiguities of Nepalese amphibians.  相似文献

While some manufacturers supply material data sheets with this information, many do not. This paper describes a well-defined quality assurance program for testing immune reagents. This program can be used to provide commercial suppliers of antisera with analyses of their products destined for government licensure applications. This study demonstrates a novel method by which multiple separate plasmids can be stably integrated into the genome using single antibiotic resistance for selection. This method was used to integrate three different cardiac-specific promoters driving different fluorophores into murine embryonic stem cells, allowing sequential visualization of various stages of cardiac differentiation. This method is broadly applicable to the study of cell lineage of different stem/progenitor cells.  相似文献

We studied lymphocyte subpopulations, serum beta 2 microglobulin, and viral markers in 115 hemophiliacs who are followed and treated at our center. The only clinical or biological anomaly observed is hypergammaglobulinemia. This frequent finding is independent of hemophilia type and of the intensity of substitutive treatment. This group is characterized by the fact that the patients are treated only by locally prepared coagulation fractions, essentially cryoprecipitates for hemophiliacs A, and not containing any derivative of commercial origin. This series is compared to other recent reports, some of which present a high incidence of immunologic anomalies.  相似文献

Major advances have been made in the last 10 years in the genetics of skeletogenesis. This has followed the general progress in our understanding of the genetic control of development in chicken and mouse and more recent advances in human genetics. This large field now encompasses three smaller but distinct fields of investigation. Those are skeleton patterning, cell differentiation in the skeleton, and cell function in the skeleton. Apo-calmodulin, a small, mainly α, soluble protein is a calcium-dependent protein activator. This article presents a study of internal dynamics of native and thermal unfolded apo-calmodulin, using quasi-elastic neutron scattering. This technique can probe protein internal dynamics in the picosecond timescale and in the nanometer length-scale. It appears that a dynamical transition is associated with thermal denaturation of apo-calmodulin. This dynamical transition goes together with a decrease of the confinement of hydrogen atoms, a decrease of immobile protons proportion and an increase of dynamical heterogeneity. The comparison of native and unfolded states dynamics suggests that the dynamics of protein atoms is more influenced by their distance to the backbone than by their solvent exposure.  相似文献

A new method was developed to analyse the dynamic properties of oxidative phosphorylation, in particular the sensitivity of the phosphate potential with respect to fluctuating cellular ATP utilization. This treatment is based on the eigenvalue sensitivity analysis of an experimentally supported non-equilibrium thermodynamic model of oxidative phosphorylation. Such an analysis allows direct access to the kinetic information, while circumventing the awkward conventional numerical integration of a set of nonlinear differential equations. This procedure revealed, for the parameters characteristic for liver of starved rats in vivo, that the sensitivity of oxidative phosphorylation to a fluctuating ATP utilization is minimal at a degree of coupling q = 0.95. This means that the phosphate potential is highly buffered with respect to fluctuating energy demands at the degree of coupling. This value of q agrees well with the degree of coupling qeef, at which net ATP production of oxidative phosphorylation--at optimal efficiency--occurs in the most economic way. This simultaneous maximization of kinetic stability and economic thermodynamic efficiency at the same degree of coupling appears to be a coincidence.  相似文献

This study addresses the long-standing controversy in skeletal biology concerning the relative utility of skeletal metric and nonmetric traits for studies of biological relationship. This controversy centers on the relative heritability of these two trait sets. This paper presents heritabilities for a series of skeletal metric and nonmetric traits measured with the same sample of mother-offspring pairs from the Cayo Santiago skeletal collection of rhesus macaques. Skeletal nonmetric traits display significantly greater heritability estimates than metric traits. This difference is due primarily to the high heritability estimates of hyperostotic nonmetric traits. Foraminal traits are not significantly more heritable than skeletal metric traits. The generality of this pattern of heritability values, in which hyperostotic nonmetric traits are more highly heritable than foraminal nonmetric and metric traits, depends on future empirical study of the correlation of heritability values in populations and theoretical work.  相似文献

A compound, isolated from the culture fluid of a nadC auxotroph of Escherichia coli grown in a minimal medium, supports the growth of both a nadA and a nadB mutant. This metabolite exhibits an ultraviolet light absorption spectrum and a mass spectrum, different from quinolinic acid. This compound may be the precursor of quinolinic acid, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenosine dinucleotide.  相似文献

Abstract Strains of Salmonella enteritidis expressed a novel porin with a subunit size of 35.5 kDa as shown by SDS-PAGE. This protein was expressed as a major outer membrane protein (MOMP) when grown on nutrient agar, McConkey agar or blood agar, or in Tris-succinate medium; but was only produced in trace amounts when strains were grown in nutrient broth. This OMP was produced by all strains of S. enteritidis examined, regardless of phage type, and expression was not related to the possession of a 38-MDa mouse-virulence plasmid or the ability of strains to make long-chain lipopolysaccharide. This new porin has been tentatively called OmpE.  相似文献

Deaggregatedhuman gamma-globulin (DHGG) injected into female mice within 24 hr after delivery of a litter enters the colostrum and is absorbed intact through the intestine by nursing neonates. This absorbed HGG was present in the neonatal circulation at concentrations of 0.3 to 0.6 mg/ml of serum under the experimental conditions used. This absorption of HGG by the nursing neonate resulted in a complete, specific, tolerant state to HGG. This tolerant state was stable upon adoptive cell transfer and could not be abrogated by transfer of normal syngeneic spleen cells.  相似文献

A spatially-distributed mathematical model for the inflammatory response to bacterial invasion of tissue is proposed which includes leukocyte motility and chemotaxis behavior and chemical mediator properties explicitly. This system involves three coupled nonlinear partial differential equations and so is not amenable to analysis. Using scaling arguments and singular perturbation techniques, an approximating system of two coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations is developed. This system now permits analysis by phase plane methods. Using the approximating model, the dependence of the dynamic behavior of the inflammatory response upon key process parameters, including leukocyte chemotaxis, is studied.This work has been supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft  相似文献
