Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for seven fish species from the Napo River and its main tributaries, Arabela and Curaray rivers, Amazon basin, Peru. A total of 652 specimens were sampled between 2012 and 2014 using seines and gillnets. This study reports new maximum total length for four species and new LWR and maximum total weight records for three and five species, respectively.  相似文献

This paper presents length–weight relationships (LWR) for 11 freshwater fish species from the Sapucaí‐Mirim River, a tributary of the Grande River basin, São Paulo, Brazil. The specimens were captured in quarterly samplings between March 2011 and December 2014, using gillnets of mesh size: 1.5–9.0 cm between knots. The present study adds new information for the maximum length of seven species, and presents new LWR records for four species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for seven fish species inhabiting the intertidal mudflats in the Marajó Bay, northern Brazil. A total of 514 specimens were collected quarterly between November 1994 and December 1995 using a beach seine (5 mm mesh size between opposite knots). Slope b of the LWR varied between 2.93 and 3.11, with a mean of 3.02. This study represents the first reference on LWRs for seven species and a new maximum length record for one of these species.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships or LWR (W = aLb) of 18 of the 21 fish species caught in 2007–2008 from the Candaba wetland in central Luzon, Philippines are reported. These species belong to 14 families and the LWR of six species are first documented in this paper. Cyprinids comprised the greatest number of species. The high significance of the LWR parameters indicate that fish weight may be predicted from length, at least within the range of the fish lengths recorded. This first reference to the LWR of fishes from the Candaba wetland provides baseline data for the conservation management of fish biota in this threatened ecological resource.  相似文献

Length‐weight relations (LWR) of six fish species from Geum, Nakdong and Yeongsan rivers in South Korea was estimated. A total of 5,152 specimens were measured and weighed. The linear relationship of total length and total weight were highly correlated for all species. No previous information on LWRs on Rhinogobius brunneus species were found in Fishbase.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationship (LWR) was estimated for three fish species from the northern coast of Yucatan peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico. All specimens were monthly collected from September 2015 to October 2016 by recreational fishing (handlining). A total of 408 individuals (15 Calamus campechanus, 9 Opsanus beta and 384 Sphoeroides nephelus) were sampled and analyzed. Information regarding LWR data for one of these species were not yet available in FishBase database, two of them have limited data and a new record of maximum length is presented.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for 34 fish species belonging to 25 genera and 17 families, specimens were collected near the mouth of the Río Verde, Oaxaca, Mexico. All r2 values are statistically significant (P > 0.0001). The values of ‘b’ ranged from 2.55 and 3.3, within the usual range (2.5–3.5). This study provides the first LWR references for six species, and new maximum length records for eight species.  相似文献

This study presents length‐weight relationships (LWR) for six species of fishes of the Suborder Notothenioidei that inhabit the sub‐Antarctic waters of the Beagle Channel (Argentina). These species represent five of the nine families of this Suborder. The specimens belong to historical fish collections in the area (from 1987 to 1990) using gill and trammel nets. All species but Eleginops maclovinus had no previous LWR estimates. The coefficient of determination (r2) ranged from 0.91 to 0.99 and b values ranged from 2.74 to 3.2. Harpagifer bispinis was the only species with a b value lower than three. This information is useful to predict the weight from the length data and to provide insights into the ecology of sub‐Antarctic nototheniod fish.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) of fish serve as building blocks in ichthyology and fishery science. In this study LWR knowledge is extended to some species, regions and sizes of fish either incomplete or missing from the literature or from the online databank (FishBase). For several species data are presented for the first time, while other entries are improved and expanded. Organisms were captured by trawl from the continental shelf of the Israeli coast, where fishes were hypothesized as being small due to low productivity and high water temperatures – a phenomenon called ‘Levantine Nanism’. Despite this, for nine of the 43 species presented here the maximum length values exceeded their Lmax in FishBase. The dominance of fishes of Indo‐Pacific origin among the species with exceptionally large specimens (7 of 9) is in agreement with Bergmann's rule; it is thus hypothesized here that these large specimens result from the low temperatures in the Mediterranean compared to their warm Indo‐Pacific sources. This is an example of the superb adaptation of tropical species to the Mediterranean and suggests that Levantine Nanism may be limited to indigenous species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for six fish species from the Cujubim lake on the Madeira River. The specimens were sampled between in the months of March and November, 2019 and February, 2020 using gillnets (10 × 5 m, mesh size 40, 60, 80 and 100 mm) which were checked every 6 hr during a 24-hr period and casting nets (1.25 × 2.7 m, mesh size 40 mm) performed three times in this interval. This study describes the length–weight (LWR) and length–length (LLR) relationships for ten small indigenous fish species from the lower part of the Ganges, Bangladesh, namely Ailia coila , Amblypharyngodon mola , Aspidoparia morar , Clupisoma atherinoides , Eutropiichthyes vacha , Glossogobius giuris , Gudusia chapra , Lepidocephalus guntea , Mystus vittatus , and Puntius ticto . A total of 2142 specimens, representing 10 species of 5 families used for this study were caught by traditional fishing gear from March 2006 to February 2007. Standard length (SL), total length (TL) and fork length (FL) for each specimen were measured by digital slide calipers and each body weight (BW) was taken by a digital balance. The allometric coefficient b of the LWR was close to the isometric value ( b  =   3.001) in G. giuris , although it suggested negative allometric growth in A. coila, A. morar, C. atherinoides, E. vacha, and P. ticto, whilst positive allometric growth in rest of the species. The results further indicated that the LLRs were highly correlated ( r >   0.890; P < 0.01). To the best our knowledge, this study presented the first reference on LWR and LLR for most of the species in Bangladesh.  相似文献

This study reports the length-weight relationships (LWR) for seven endemic fish species from streams in the Ivaí (Characidium heirmostigmata, Corydoras lacrimostigmata, Curculionichthys oliveirai, Hisonotus pachysarkos, and Cambeva horacioi) and Ivaí and Piquiri (Apareiodon vladii and Planaltina kaingang) River basins, Paraná State, Brazil. Fish specimens measured and weighed were collected between November 1994 and July 2019, fixed with 10% formalin, and are preserved in 70% alcohol. Measurements were done for standard length (SL—0.1 cm precision) and total weight (TW—0.01 g precision). All coefficient of allometry obtained is within the general range for fishes representing useful tentatives for LWR parameters. We highlight the importance of information about the biology of the endemic fish species in a crucial area for the biodiversity conservation of the Upper Paraná River system.  相似文献

The present work reports the length–weight relationships (LWR) for four ornamental fish species from the middle Negro River basin, Amazonas, Brazil. The present study describes the length–weight (LWR) and length–length relationships (LLR) of Puntius chelynoides (McClelland, 1839), commonly known as the dark mahseer, a coldwater fish species which inhabits fast‐flowing hill‐streams of India and Nepal. A total of 422 specimens were collected between January and June 2010 from a spring‐fed stream in Garhwal Himalaya, India. Analyses included data from 486 specimens sampled in five expeditions between August 2013 and May 2015 by gillnets. Long-term environmental monitoring studies includes morphometric data (length and weight) of aggregating fish species around this artificial structure and adjacent soft-bottom habitats. We used these data, obtained biannually (summer and spring) between 2012 and 2018, to estimate population parameters such as length-weight relationships (LWRs) for 28 species. Gender and ontogeny-based differences in LWR were determined in four species, while novel LWR information was generated for all other species.  相似文献
