秦岭川金丝猴一个投食群等级关系的研究 总被引:3,自引:4,他引:3
2002年7月至2003年6月,采用焦点动物取样法和全事件记录法对秦岭山脉周至国家级自然保护区玉皇庙西梁川金丝猴投食群一雄多雌社会单元内部和社会单元间的攻击和屈服行为的指向和次数进行记录,应用计算优势指数的方法对社会单元内不同性别年龄组和社会单元间的等级进行排列。结果表明,在每一个社会单元内部成年雄性居最高地位,所有成年雌性占有第二阶层,亚成体处于第三阶层,青少年个体处于最低层。每个社会单元内成年雌性在一年内的等级序列并不是固定不变的,一般是雌性在产仔后顺位明显上升。八个社会单元在交配阶段和产仔阶段等级结构不同,等级最高的社会单元以及等级最低的社会单元的等级顺序没有发生变化,等级接近的社会单元间的等级顺序发生变化,其变化的原因可能主要与社会单元内部成员相互协作进行攻击有关。 相似文献

The effect of morphine on the susceptibility of BALB/c mice to diarrheagenic Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella Enteritidis, Yersinia enterocolitica, was examined via the intraperitoneal inoculation. Morphine treatment increased the susceptibility to S. Enteritidis and L. monocytogenes, resulting in bacteremia and central nervous system (CNS) invasion (for L. monocytogenes), while the infection with other bacteria did not show the systemic dissemination in the morphinetreated mice. Notably, L. monocytogenes infection caused 100% mortality with a mean survival time (MST) of 1.3 days in morphine-treated mice, but untreated mice did not die. The present data suggested that individuals using heroin or treated with morphine derivatives might be at high risk for listeriosis, especially those who are immunocompromised. Recent increasing consumption of morphine may propose the necessity for further epidemiological surveillance on infectious diseases. 相似文献

The physiological basis for population differentiation of dispersal timing during individual development in male wild house
mice is still unknown. As major urinary proteins (MUPs) are known to convey information about competitive ability in male
mice, we examined individual MUP profiles defined by isoelectric-focusing (IEF) patterns in relation to developmental timing
of dispersive motivation. As an experimental paradigm marking the development of the dispersal propensity, we used agonistic
onset between litter mate brothers when kept in pairs under laboratory conditions. Agonistic onset is known to reflect the
initiation of dispersive motivation. Hence, we compared individual MUP IEF patterns between fraternal pairs that did or did
not develop agonistic relationships before the age of 2 months. Urine was collected on the day of weaning and at the beginning
of adulthood. We investigated whether there was a significant co-occurrence of particular MUP IEF patterns with the agonistic
onset in male mice. We assumed that, based on this co-occurrence, particular MUP IEF patterns and/or a particular dynamic
of MUP IEF expression from weaning to adulthood may be considered a physiological predictor of a specific behavioral strategy
in male mice (i.e. submissive-philopatric or agonistic-dispersive strategy). We found that agonistic males expressed more
MUP IEF bands than amicable ones at weaning, but these differences disappeared later on. The presence of two particular IEF
bands at weaning was significantly associated with early agonistic onset. Our study suggests that MUPs could have a predictive
value for the onset of aggressive behavior and dispersal tendency in male wild house mice. 相似文献

International Journal for Parasitology12: 29–33. The susceptibility of 6 strains of inbred mice to infection with Mesocestoides corti was studied following both intraperitoneal and oral inoculation of tetrathyridia. The greatest degree of resistance was seen in C57BL/6 mice and this resistance was independent of route of inoculation. The proliferation of the parasite in C57BL/6 mice was compared with a more susceptible strain (CBA/H) on 7, 14, 21, 35 and 60 days post-infection. Although both strains harboured significantly different parasite burdens during the initial period following infection, these differences were no longer apparent by day 60. 相似文献

Many studies using genetic mouse models are performed with animals on either one of the two closely related genetic backgrounds, C57BL/6J or C57BL/6N. These strains differ only in a few genetic loci, but have some phenotypic differences that also affect behavior. In order to determine the effects of chronic stress hormone exposure, which is relevant for the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders, we investigated here the behavioral manifestations of long‐term increase in corticosterone levels. Thus, male mice from both sub‐strains were subcutaneously implanted with corticosterone (20 mg) or placebo pellets that released the hormone for a period of 21 days and resulted in significantly elevated plasma corticosterone levels. Corticosterone significantly increased food intake in B6N, but not in B6J mice. At various time points after pellet implantation, we performed tests relevant to activity and emotional behaviors. B6J mice displayed a generally higher activity in the home cage and the open field. Corticosterone decreased the activity. In B6N mice, corticosterone also decreased sucrose preference, worsened the coat state and increased forced swim immobility, while it had no effect in the B6J strain. Altogether, these results indicate that B6N mice are more sensitive to some of the effects of chronic corticosterone treatment than B6J mice. 相似文献

In autoimmune hepatitis, strong TGF-beta1 expression is found in the inflamed liver. TGF-beta overexpression may be part of a regulatory immune response attempting to suppress autoreactive T cells. To test this hypothesis, we determined whether impairment of TGF-beta signaling in T cells leads to increased susceptibility to experimental autoimmune hepatitis (EAH). Transgenic mice of strain FVB/N were generated expressing a dominant-negative TGF-beta type II receptor in T cells under the control of the human CD2 promoter/locus control region. On induction of EAH, transgenic mice showed markedly increased portal and periportal leukocytic infiltrations with hepatocellular necroses compared with wild-type mice (median histological score = 1.8 +/- 0.26 vs. 0.75 +/- 0.09 in wild-type mice; P < 0.01). Increased IFN-gamma production (118 vs. 45 ng/ml) and less IL-4 production (341 vs. 1,256 pg/ml) by mononuclear cells isolated from transgenic livers was seen. Impairment of TGF-beta signaling in T cells therefore leads to increased susceptibility to EAH in mice. This suggests an important role for TGF-beta in immune homeostasis in the liver and may teleologically explain TGF-beta upregulation in response to T cell-mediated liver injury. 相似文献

The effect of the iron chelator deferoxamine (DFO) on resistance to infection with Listeria monocytogenes in mice with a condition analogous to human beta-thalassemia was studied. Intraperitoneal injection of 10 mg DFO resulted in significantly increased mortality when given one, three and six days before infection with L. monocytogenes (for all three time points, p less than 0.02). There were no significant differences in hematocrit, plasma iron, or splenic iron content between the two groups of mice during these time periods. In addition, splenic counts of L. monocytogenes were not significantly higher in DFO-treated compared to saline-treated mice three days after infection. Moreover, background C57Bl/6J mice were not more susceptible to Listeria infection after receiving DFO than were saline-treated controls. In conclusion, acute administration of DFO increases the susceptibility of beta-thalassemic mice to L. monocytogenes. The effect is not seen in background mice and suggests that DFO increases susceptibility to Listeria infection only in animals with iron overload. 相似文献

Induction of viable but nonculturable state in Vibrio parahaemolyticus and its susceptibility to environmental stresses 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
AIMS: This work analysed factors that influence the induction of viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state in the common enteric pathogen, Vibrio parahaemolyticus. The susceptibility of the VBNC cells to environmental stresses was investigated. METHODS AND RESULTS: Bacterium was cultured in tryptic soy broth-3% NaCl medium, shifted to a nutrient-free Morita mineral salt-0.5% NaCl medium (pH 7.8) and further incubated at 4 degrees C in a static state to induce the VBNC state in 28-35 days. The culturability and viability of the cells were monitored by the plate count method and the Bac Light viable count method, respectively. Cells grown at the optimum growth temperature and in the exponential phase better induced the VBNC state than those grown at low temperature and in the stationary phase. Low salinity of the medium crucially and markedly shortened the induction period. The VBNC cells were highly resistant to thermal (42, 47 degrees C), low salinity (0% NaCl), or acid (pH 4.0) inactivation. CONCLUSIONS: Optimal conditions for inducing VBNC V. parahaemolyticus were reported. The increase in resistance of VBNC V. parahaemolyticus to thermal, low salinity and acidic inactivation verified that this state is entered as part of a survival strategy in an adverse environment. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: The methods for inducing VBNC V. parahaemolyticus in a markedly short time will facilitate further physiological and pathological study. The enhanced stress resistance of the VBNC cells should attract attention to the increased risk presented by this pathogen in food. 相似文献

The interactive relationship between Cu deficiency and depressed synthesis of certain neurotransmitters has been recognized. To investigate the effects of dietary Cu supplementation on the catecholamine levels in genetically obese mice, male obese (ob/ob) mice and their lean (+/?) counterparts were administered either a control diet (4.0 mg/kg) or a Cu-supplemented diet (50 mg/kg) for 4 wk. The ob/ob mice that were fed a control diet showed lower liver and higher plasma levels of Cu. Depressed levels of plasma and brain catecholamines were also found in ob/ob mice that were fed the control diet. The ob/ob mice that received a Cu-supplemented diet showed significant increases in the levels of catecholamine in the plasma and brain. This study showed that catecholamine levels in ob/ob mice can be increased by dietary Cu supplementation. However, the interaction between Cu and sympathetic nervous activity in obesity was not elucidated in this study. 相似文献

Convulsions and brain levels of amino acids and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in El mice were examined after oral administration of a 1% guanidinoethane sulfonate (GES) solution. The incidence of convulsions increased 3 days after starting GES administration, and this effect continued throughout the 6 months of drug administration. Glutamate levels were increased in the cerebrum, and glutamine levels were increased in the cerebellum three days after starting GES administration. Brain 5-HT levels were not changed at that time. These results suggest that increased seizure susceptibility induced by GES in mice is related to glutamatergic neurons. 相似文献

Inbred strains of mice differ in their susceptibility to excitotoxin-induced cell death, but the genetic basis of individual variation in differential susceptibility is unknown. Previously, we identified a highly significant quantitative trait locus (QTL) on chromosome 18 that influenced susceptibility to kainic acid-induced cell death ( Sicd1 ). Comparison of susceptibility to seizure-induced cell death between reciprocal congenic lines for Sicd1 and parental background mice indicates that genes influencing this trait were captured in both strains. Two positional gene candidates, Galr1 and Mbp , map to 55 cM, where the Sicd1 QTL had been previously mapped. Thus, this study was undertaken to determine if Galr1 and/or Mbp could be considered as candidate genes. Genomic sequence comparison of these two functional candidate genes from the C57BL/6J (resistant at Sicd1 ) and the FVB/NJ (susceptible at Sicd1 ) strains showed no single-nucleotide polymorphisms. However, expression studies confirmed that Galr1 shows significant differential expression in the congenic and parental inbred strains. Galr1 expression was downregulated in the hippocampus of C57BL/6J mice and FVB.B6- Sicd1 congenic mice when compared with FVB/NJ or B6.FVB- Sicd1 congenic mice. A survey of Galr1 expression among other inbred strains showed a significant effect such that 'susceptible' strains showed a reduction in Galr1 expression as compared with 'resistant' strains. In contrast, no differences in Mbp expression were observed. In summary, these results suggest that differential expression of Galr1 may contribute to the differences in susceptibility to seizure-induced cell death between cell death-resistant and cell death-susceptible strains. 相似文献

Concanavalin A (Con A) exists in dimeric state at pH 5. In concentration range 20-60% (v/v) 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) and 2-40% (v/v) 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP), Con A at pH 5.0 shows visible aggregation. However, when succinyl Con A was used, no aggregation was observed in the entire concentration range of fluoroalcohols (0-90% v/v TFE and HFIP) and resulted in stable alpha-helix formation. Temperature-induced concentration-dependent aggregation in Con A was also found to be prevented/reduced in succinylated form. Possible role of electrostatic repulsion among residues in the prevention of hydrophobically driven aggregation has been discussed. Results indicate that succinylation of a protein resulted in greater stability (in both beta-sheet and alpha-helical forms) against alcohol-induced and temperature-induced concentration-dependent aggregation and this observation may play significant role in amyloid-forming proteins. Effect of TFE and HFIP on the conformation of a dimeric protein, Succinylated Con A, has been investigated by circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence emission spectroscopy, binding of hydrophobic dye ANS (8-anilinonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid). Far UV-CD, a probe for secondary structure shows loss of native secondary structure in the presence of low concentration of both the alcohols, TFE (10% v/v) and HFIP (4% v/v). Upon addition of higher concentration of these alcohols, Succinylated Con A exhibited transformation from beta-sheet to alpha-helical structure. Intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence studies, ANS binding and near UV-CD experiments indicate the protein is more expanded, have more exposed hydrophobic surfaces and highly disrupted tertiary structure at 60% (v/v) TFE and 30% (v/v) HFIP concentrations. Taken together, these results it might be concluded that TFE and HFIP induce two intermediate states at their low and high concentrations in Succinyl Con A. 相似文献

The postnatal development of susceptibility to the convulsant effects of Ro5-4864 (4'-chlorodiazepam) was characterized in two inbred mouse strains (DBA/2J and BALB/c ByJ) which as adults differ markedly in their response to this convulsant. Onset of susceptibility to a dose of Ro5-4864 which caused a high frequency of clonic seizures in adults was observed at 10 days of age in DBA/2 mice, but not until 35 days in BALB/c By mice. At 14 days of age an abrupt increase in susceptibility to Ro5-4864-induced tonic seizures was found in DBA/2 but not BALB/c By mice. Both the peak of tonic seizure susceptibility (21 days) and the time course of its subsequent age-dependent decline closely paralleled the change in audiogenic seizure susceptibility in the DBA/2 strain. PK11195 (40 mg/kg) blocked Ro5-4864 (25 mg/kg)-induced, age-dependent tonic seizures but had no effect on clonic seizure induction in the same mice. These observations establish that both the susceptibility to Ro5-4864 in adult mice and the postnatal time course for development of susceptibility to this convulsant are inherently different in these two strains of mice. The lack of coincidence between the developmental onset of susceptibility to Ro5-4864-induced seizures and the onset of supersensitivity to Ro5-4864-induced tonic seizures during the period of peak audiogenic seizure susceptibility in DBA/2 mice implies that more than one neurochemical mechanism is involved in the ability of Ro5-4864 to induce seizures in this strain. However, the blockade of Ro5-4864-induced tonic seizures by PK11195 suggests that peripheral type benzodiazepine receptors may mediate this effect. 相似文献

Little work has been done to understand the folding profiles of multi-domain proteins at alkaline conditions. We have found
the formation of a molten globule-like state in bovine serum albumin at pH 11.2 with the help of spectroscopic techniques;
like far and near ultra-violet circular dichroism, intrinsic and extrinsic fluorescence spectroscopy. Interestingly, this
state has features similar to the acid-denatured state of human serum albumin at pH 2.0 reported by Muzammil et al. (Eur J
Biochem 266:26–32, 1999). This state has also shown significant increase in 8-anilino-1-naphthalene-sulfonate (ANS) binding
in compare to the native state. At pH 13.0, the protein seems to acquire a state very close to 6 M guanidinium hydrochloride
(GuHCl) denatured one. But, reversibility study shows it can regain nearly 40% of its native secondary structure. On the contrary,
tertiary contacts have disrupted irreversibly. It seems, withdrawal of electrostatic repulsion leave room for local interactions,

Human LCAT-like lysophospholipase (LLPL), or lysophospholipase 3, was first identified in vitro, in foam cells derived from THP-1 cells. We demonstrated that LLPL was present in foam cells in the severe atherosclerotic lesions that develop in apolipoprotein E-null (apoE(-/-)) mice. This indicated that LLPL might affect lipid metabolisms in foam cells and, therefore, atherogenesis. Accordingly, we created LLPL-knockout mice by gene targeting and crossed them with apoE(-/-) mice. We showed that the absence of LLPL increased lesion formation markedly in apoE(-/-) mice but had little effect on the plasma-lipid profile. In addition, LLPL-deficient peritoneal macrophages were more sensitive to apoptosis induced by exposure to oxidized low-density lipoprotein. LLPL might provide a link between apoptosis in macrophages and atherogenesis. Our data demonstrate that LLPL activity is anti-atherogenic and indicate that the regulation of this enzyme might be a novel drug target for the treatment of atherosclerosis. 相似文献
