The morphology and development of styles and stigmas ofVicia, one of the five genera of tribe Vicieae, were studied by scanning electron microscopy to contribute to a revision of infrageneric
classification. Among the 22 species examined, variations were found as to: (1) whether a boundary between stigma and style
is V-shaped when viewed from the adaxial side or not; (2) whether stylar hairs sprout on all sides of the style or only on
the abaxial side; (3) whether a hairy area of the style connects with the stigma area first at lateral sides or at an adaxial
side; (4) whether styles are tapered or bottle-neck-shaped; (5) whether styles are straight or bend abaxially. Based on these
variations, five morphological types of styles and stigmas were provided with a diagnostic key. Comparisons with related tribes
Cicereae, Coronilleae, Galegeae, Hedysareae, Loteae and Trifolieae as possible outgroups suggested that the V-shaped boundary
between stigma and style is a synapomorphy of some species withinVicia, and that a dorsally compressed and abaxially tufted style, which was distributed in separate subgenera and sections sensu
Kupicha but is now known to occur together with the V-shaped boundary, has evolved only one time in the genus, rather than
more than once as supposed earlier. 相似文献

Floral ontogeny of Lespedeza thunbergii was studied with the use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The ontogeny varies in all whorls from the undirectional mode, which has been long held to be the rule in Leguminosae. In the sepal whorl, the lateral and the adaxial sepals are formed simultaneously, which is interpreted as a tendency towards whorled organ formation. Whorled organ formation is shown in the petal whorl. The antesepalous stamen whorl varies least from the unidirectional mode. Here, the adaxial stamens are formed successively. This is seen as a remnant of an original helical organ formation in Papilionoideae. Within the antepetalous stamen whorl, the two abaxial stamens and the adaxial stamen are formed first, followed by the two lateral stamens. This is a rarely found phenomenon, which is hard to interpret at the present state of knowledge. Concerning the mature flower, it is shown that nectar stomata are found in a distinct area on the adaxial side of the flower. The presented new characteristics should be an initial step toward further work on taxa of the tribe Desmodieae. These studies will broaden the data set and enable a detailed phylogenetic analysis. 相似文献

Structure of inflorescence and its variation were organographically and ontogenetically studied inLespedeza cuneata (Dum.-Cours.) G. Don. An axillary inflorescence of the species forms a compound inflorescence which is composed of three
or four component inflorescences. Each component inflorescence bears four (rarely six), three, two, or one flowers. Based
on the arrangement of inflorescence phyllomes, the component inflorescence with four flowers is interpreted as a pseudoraceme
bearing two shortened lateral shoots (partial inflorescences) each of which has two flowers. The component inflorescence with
one flower appears to be terminated by the flower and to compose the cyme. Organographic observations revealed that the terminally
located flower is not truly terminal, but axillary in origin. Ontogenetic observations showed that the apices of component
inflorescence and partial inflorescence exist in early developmental stages in spite of variation in the form of component
inflorescence. The terminally located flower in the cyme-like inflorescence was thus demonstrated to be laterally borne on
the partial inflorescence axis. The component inflorescence composing the cyme-like one inL. cuneata is a reduced form in the number of partial inflorescences and of flowers from the pseudoraceme. The cyme-like inflorescence
inL. cuneata resembles the inflorescence ofKummerowia. 相似文献

Pollen grains ofVigna angularis and its var.nipponensis are described with special reference to fine structure of the infratectum of the exine. They are 3-porate-operculate with
granular infratectum and thin foot-layer. These features agree with those characterizing the genusVigna. In this species var.angularios and var.nipponensis are quite similar in pollen morphology. This supports the view that the two are closely related. 相似文献

A study of the branching of the inflorescence and the vegetative shoot of the genusKummerowia, consisting ofK. stipulacea (Maxim.) Makino andK. striata (Thunb.) Schindler, has led to the following conclusions: (1) the inflorescences of both species are reduced compound cymes,
(2) the branching system of the inflorescence ofKummerowia is not clearly different from that of the vegetative shoot and there are some transitional forms between both systems, and
(3) the inflorescence ofKummerowia is different from the racemose inflorescences ofLespedeza andCampylotropis. Based on the differences found in the branching system of the inflorescence,Kummerowia is distinctly separated fromLespedeza andCampylotropis and is more correctly treated as a distinct genus from the latter two. 相似文献

Relative pollen and ovule production in the genera of the legume tribeTrifolieae is explored particularly as to howMedicago with its explosive pollination mechanism compares with its allies.Medicago produces much larger, although much fewer pollen per ovule than the other five genera in the tribe; this is interpreted as a consequence of its highly specialized, irreversible pollination mechanism, which allows only one effective exchange of pollen with pollinators.Melilotus andTrifolium produce a comparatively large quantity of pollen; this can be related to their floral characteristics requiring abundant pollen to achieve fertilization. InMedicago andTrigonella, annuals convert a higher proportion of pollen grains and ovules into seeds than perennials. 相似文献

The pollen morphology of 32 species of the genus Vicia was studied using scanning and transmission electron microscope (SEM and TEM). The interstitia of the pollen of the examined species were found to be either regular columellate, irregular columellate, or granular. The granular pattern was recognized to be apomorphy against the columellate patterns in the tribe Vicieae by comparison with the pollen in the tribes Vicieae, Cicereae, Galegeae, Hedysareae, and Trifolieae. The group of Vicia species having the apomorphy was congruent with that having a known apomorphy of the pistil character. This group with such synapomorphies may be monophyletic, though it is treated as polyphyletic in the present infrageneric system of Vicia. 相似文献

Nine species of Lippia (Verbenaceae) were studied by RAPD markers in order to evaluate the degree of genetic diversity. The following species were collected at the Cadeia do Espinhaço Mountains, Southeast Brazil: L. corymbosa, L. diamantinensis, L. filifolia, L. florida, L. hermannioides, L. lupulina, L. rotundifolia, L. rosella and L. sidoides. The analysis was performed using 18 primers that generated 490 fragments and only one primer was found to be monomorphic in all individuals. The average interspecific genetic distances were similar for all species and higher than the intraspecific genetic distances. Species with narrow occurrence did not show low intraspecific diversity. The molecular data were used to generate an UPGMA dendrogram that showed two major groups with a clear distribution among the species. RAPD analysis was efficient to address the genetic diversity of Lippia species and contributed to understand the adaptation to the environment, conservation and taxonomic implications. 相似文献

Two stigma forms occur inChamaecrista andSenna, but only one inCassia. In the common chambered form, a stigma pore is positioned on the reflexed style tip and is the entrance to a tapering chamber. The pore rim is fringed by hairs which vary in number, size, distribution and shape. In the alternative form the stigma is situated at the apex of the curved style and is crateriform. The crater rim is fringed by hairs of variable number and shape. The stigmatic hairs are predominantly unicellular and cutinized. Stigma and hair differences aid in the taxonomy of the genera. Their functions in pollination biology are discussed. 相似文献

Summary Explants of axillary buds excised from mature adult stems of Swainsona formosa (G. Don) J. Thompson (syn. Clianthus formosus) were cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with a range of auxins, cytokinins, and sucrose concentrations.
Auxins did not increase shoot or bud numbers above controls, and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid was the only auxin to significantly
increase callus production. Benzyladenine or thidiazuron incorporated into the medium at 0.1 μM stimulated shoot and bud production, and shoot growth occurred following removal of cytokinins from the medium after 4 wk.
Shoot number increased linearly with sucrose concentration up to 40 g l−1, but shoot height and the number of cytokinin-induced buds were optimal at sucrose levels of 20–30 g l−1. Roots were initiated in vitro following treatment of cuttings with 0.1% indole-3-butyric acid and 0.1% α-naphthaleneactic acid. Plantlets were successfully
established in soil but were plagiotropic and exhibited distichous phyllotaxy. 相似文献
