This study aimed to examine differences between sexes in thermoregulatory responses and exercise time after ice slurry ingestion in a hot environment. Twenty-four healthy adults (male n = 12, body weight (BW) = 65.8 ± 10.3; female n = 12, BW = 58.2 ± 10.0) ingested 7.5 g/kg of either ice slurry at −1 °C (ICE) or control water at 20 °C (CON) before cycling at 55%VO2 max in a hot environment (controlled at 38 °C, 40% relative humidity). Rectal (Tre) and skin (Tsk) temperature, heart rate, sweat rate, respiratory gases, ratings of thermal sensation (TS), thermal comfort (TC), and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) were measured. Ice slurry did not improve exercise time in both sexes despite Tre was significantly lower in ICE than CON in both sexes. Tre, Tsk, HR, sweat rate and TS did not differ between sexes. TC and RPE in ICE were significantly higher during exercise in males than in females. In conclusion, there were no sex differences in the effects of pre-cooling with ice slurry ingestion; however, pre-cooling with ice slurry may be more effective in mitigating ratings of TC and RPE in females than males.  相似文献

Increase in water temperature due to anthropogenic and climatic changes is expected to affect physiological functions of fish. In this study, we determined high temperature tolerance (CTmax) of a common aquacultured Indian major carp, rohu, Labeo rohita fingerlings (15.96 ± 0.72 g BW, 11.56 ± 0.42 cm TL) followed by acclimatization at three temperatures (30, 33, 36 °C). To determine the CTmax, we analyzed the major hemato-biochemical indices - hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cell (RBC), white blood cell (WBC), blood glucose levels, and erythrocytic nuclear abnormalities (ENAs) and erythrocytic cellular abnormalities (ECAs) of peripheral erythrocytes in the fish sampled at the start and end point at each acclimated temperature. Significantly decreased CTmax of the fish was found at 36 °C compared to 30 °C and 33 °C. The fish in the highest (36 °C) temperature were found with significantly lower Hb and RBC content and significantly higher WBC and blood glucose levels than that of the fishes in the lowest (30 °C) temperature both at the start and end points. The highest frequencies of ENAs and ECAs were found in the highest (36 °C) temperature group compared to the lowest (30 °C) temperature group at both the points. We also evaluated growth performance of the rohu fingerlings reared in the three temperatures for 60 days. The growth parameters - final weight gain, percent weight gain and specific growth rate were the highest at 33 °C and the lowest at 36 °C. The present study revealed that the highest temperature (36 °C) tested here may be hazardous to rohu and the temperature should be kept below 36 °C in the aquaculture setting to avoid physiological damage and growth and production loss to the fish.  相似文献

Biomolecular integrity can be compromised when blood plasma/serum (P/S) specimens are improperly handled. Compromised analytes can subsequently produce erroneous results—without any indication of having done so. We recently introduced an LC/MS-based marker of P/S exposure to thawed conditions called ΔS-Cys-Albumin which, aided by an established rate law, quantitatively tracks exposure of P/S to temperatures greater than their freezing point of ?30 °C. The purposes of this study were to (1) evaluate ΔS-Cys-Albumin baseline values in gastrointestinal cancer patients and cancer-free control donors, (2) empirically assess the kinetic profiles of ΔS-Cys-Albumin at 23 °C, 4 °C, and ?20 °C, and (3) empirically link ΔS-Cys-Albumin to the stability of clinically relevant proteins. ΔS-Cys-Albumin was measured at ≥ 9 different time points per exposure temperature in serum and K2EDTA plasma samples from 24 separate donors in aliquots kept separately at 23 °C, 4 °C, and ?20 °C. Twenty-one clinically relevant plasma proteins were measured at four time points per temperature via a multiplexed immunoassay on the Luminex platform. Protein stability was assessed by mixed effects models. Coordinated shifts in stability between ΔS-Cys-Albumin and the unstable proteins were documented by repeated measures and Pearson correlations. Plasma ΔS-Cys-Albumin dropped from approximately 20% to under 5% within 96 h at 23 °C, 28 days at 4 °C, and 65 days at ?20 °C. On average, 22% of the 21 proteins significantly changed in apparent concentration at each exposure temperature (p < 0.0008 with >10% shift). A linear inverse relationship was found between the percentage of proteins destabilized and ΔS-Cys-Albumin (r = ?0.61; p < 0.0001)—regardless of the specific time/temperature of exposure. ΔS-Cys-Albumin tracks cumulative thawed-state exposure. These results now enable ΔS-Cys-Albumin to approximate the percentage of clinically relevant proteins that have been compromised by incidental plasma exposure to thawed-state conditions.  相似文献

Thermoregulation in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) is impaired and may result in either increases or decreases in body temperature. We have found that rat experimental autoimmune encephalitis (EAE), being a model of MS, is associated with body temperature disturbances as well. The purpose of the current study was to examine whether the altered body temperature in EAE-induced rats is due to either a deficit in thermoregulation or a controlled change in its set point.Subcutaneous injection of encephalitogenic emulsion into both pads of hind feet of the Lewis rats provoked EAE symptoms. Body temperature (Tb) of 6 rats was measured using biotelemetry system, and ambient temperature (Ta) preferred by 6 rats of another group was analyzed using thermal gradient system.Symptoms of EAE started 11 days postinjection and progressed quickly, culminating in a complete paralysis in rats placed in the gradient, which was associated with behavioural fever (accordingly, selected Ta raised to as much as 32.8 ± 0.5 °C vs 27.2 ± 0.6 °C in control rats). On the other hand, EAE rats, placed at a constant Ta of 24 °C, were able to generate fever (Tb of 37.8 ± 0.1 °C) at the start of the illness and then paralysis compromised fever (most likely due to an impairment of thermogenesis), which, surprisingly, resulted in recovery. We conclude that EAE onset in rats is associated with fever and its behavioural supporting leads to aggravation of the autoimmune neurotoxicity.  相似文献

To mitigate the impacts of heat exposure, animals can take some actions to maintain their core body temperature, such as heat acclimation; however, the effect of heat acclimation on anxiety-like behavior in an open field is still not understood. The purpose of this study was to examine the anxiety-like behavior of heat acclimated rats in a temperate or heated open field. After being raised in a 23 °C environment for one week, male Wistar rats were exposed to a heated environment (32 °C) for 3 h (3H), 14 days (14D), or 28 days (28D), with free access to food and water, and compared with rats reared in a temperate environment (23 °C; Cont). After heat exposure, behavioral changes were monitored using an open field test (OFT) in a heated (32 °C) or temperate environment (23 °C). Compared with those in the Cont group, the body weights of rats in the 14D and 28D groups were lower. The OFT in the heated environment showed that grooming time was longer in 3H and 14D rats. In the temperate environment, grooming time was longer in all the heated groups. Rats from the 3H and 28D groups spent longer time in the center square when tested in the temperate environment. Rearing activity increased in 28D rats in the temperate environment, while the number of line crossings did not differ significantly between the heated groups and the two open fields. These results suggest that heat acclimation affected not only the physiological index such as core body temperature but also the anxiety-like behavior, mainly in the temperate open field. These changes might be beneficial when rats are faced with an open field.  相似文献

This study was conducted to examine the effects of dietary taurine supplementation on productive performance, nutrient digestibility, antioxidant status, and the gene expression of ileal nutrient transporters in laying quails reared under heat stress (HS). One hundred and eighty laying Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were fed a basal diet or basal diet supplemented with either 2.5 or 5 g of taurine per kg of diet, and reared at either 22 ± 2 °C for 24 h/d (thermoneutral, TN) or 34 ± 2 °C for 8 h/d (HS) for 12 weeks. The quails reared under HS consumed less feed, produced less egg, and had lower dry matter, organic matter and crude protein apparent digestibilities compared with the quails reared under the TN condition (P = 0.001). However, increasing taurine concentrations in the diet improved feed intake and egg production (P = 0.001), but also the apparent digestibilities (P ≤ 0.027) in quails reared under HS. The greater doses (5 g/kg) of taurine resulted in more responses. The quails reared under HS had greater serum and liver MDA concentrations (P = 0.0001) which decreased with dietary taurine supplementations, particularly greater doses. The gene expressions of ileal PEPT1, EAAT3, CAT1, CAT2, SGLT1, SGLT5, GLUT2, and GLUT5 decreased under HS conditions (P = 0.001). However, supplementing taurine, in a dose-dependent fashion, to the diet of quails reared under HS resulted in increases in the gene expressions of the transporters (P < 0.05) except for CAT1. The results of the present work showed that taurine supplementation, particularly with greater doses (5 g/kg), to the diet of laying quails kept under HS acts as alleviating negative effects of HS, resulting in improvements in productive performance and nutrient digestion, and also upregulation of ileal nutrient transporters.  相似文献

Unwanted agricultural waste is largely comprised of lignocellulosic substrate which could be transformed into sugars. The production of bioethanol from garbage manifested an agreeable proposal towards waste management as well as energy causation. The goal of this work is to optimize parameters for generation of bioethanol through fermentation by different yeast strains while Saccharomyces cerevisiae used as standard strain. The low cost fermentable sugars from pomegranate peels waste (PPW) were obtained by hydrolysis with HNO3 (1 to 5%). The optimum levels of hydrolysis time and temperature were elucidated via RSM (CCD) ranging from 30 to 60 min and 50 to 100 °C respectively. The result shows that optimum values (g/L) for reducing sugars was 61.45 ± 0.01 while for total carbohydrates was 236 ± 0.01. These values were found when PPW was hydrolyzed with 3% HNO3, at 75 °C for one hour. The hydrolyzates obtained from the dilute HNO3 pretreated PPW yielded a maximum of 0.43 ± 0.04, 0.41 ± 0.03 g ethanol per g of reducing sugars by both Metchnikowia sp. Y31 and M. cibodasensis Y34 at day 7 of ethanologenic experiment. The current study exhibited that by fermentation of dilute HNO3 hydrolyzates of PPW could develop copious amount of ethanol by optimized conditions.  相似文献

Prolonged exposure to cold can impair manual performance, which in turn can affect work task performance. We investigated whether mild whole-body cold stress would affect isometric force control during submaximal hand grip and key pinch tasks. Twelve male participants performed isometric hand grip and key pinch tasks at 10% and 30% of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) for 30 and 10 s respectively, in cold (8 °C) and control (25 °C) conditions. Finger temperature decreased significantly by 18.7 ± 2.1 °C and continuous low-intensity shivering in the upper trunk increased significantly in intensity and duration during cold exposure. Rectal temperature decreased similarly for the 8 °C and 25 °C exposures. Force variability (FCv) was <2% for the hand grip tasks, and <3% for the key pinch tasks. No significant changes in FCv or force accuracy were found between the ambient temperatures. In conclusion, isometric force control during hand grip and key pinch tasks was maintained when participants experienced mild whole-body cold stress compared with when they were thermally comfortable.  相似文献

Bacteria within the phylum Planctomycetota are biologically relevant due to unique characteristics among prokaryotes. Members of the genus Rhodopirellula can be abundant in marine habitats, however, only six species are currently validly described. In this study, we expand the explored genus diversity by formally describing a novel species. The pink-coloured strain ICT_H3.1T was isolated from brackish sediments collected in the Tagus estuary (Portugal) and a 16S rRNA gene sequence-based analysis placed this strain into the genus Rhodopirellula (family Pirellulaceae). The closest type strain is Rhodopirellula rubra LF2T, suggested by a similarity of 98.4% of the 16S rRNA gene sequence. Strain ICT_H3.1T is heterotrophic, aerobic and able to grow under microaerobic conditions. The strain grows between 15 and 37 °C, over a range of pH 6.5 to 11.0 and from 1 to 8% (w/v) NaCl. Several nitrogen and carbon sources were utilized by the novel isolate. Cells have an elongated pear-shape with 2.0 ± 0.3 × 0.9 ± 0.2 µm in size. Cells of strain ICT_H3.1T cluster in rosettes through a holdfast structure and divide by budding. Younger cells are motile. Ultrathin cell sections show cytoplasmic membrane invaginations and polar fimbriae. The genome size is 9,072,081 base pairs with a DNA G + C content of 56.1 mol%. Genomic, physiological and morphological comparison of strain ICT_H3.1T with its relatives suggest that it belongs to a novel species within the genus Rhodopirellula. Hence, we propose the name Rhodopirellula aestuarii sp. nov., represented by ICT_H3.1T (=CECT30431T = LMG32464T) as the type strain of this novel species.16S rRNA gene accession number: GenBank = OK001858.Genome accession number: The Whole Genome Shotgun project has been deposited at DDBJ/ENA/GenBank under the accession JAMQBK000000000. The version described in this paper is version JAMQBK010000000.  相似文献

ObjectiveIn type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) management, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-derived parameters can provide additional insights, with time in range (TIR) and other parameters reflecting glycemic control and variability being put forward. This study aimed to examine the added and interpretative value of the CGM-derived indices TIR and coefficient of variation (CV%) in T1DM patients stratified according to their level of glycemic control by means of HbA1C.MethodsT1DM patients with a minimum disease duration of 10 years and without known macrovascular disease were enrolled. Patients were equipped with a blinded CGM device for 7 days. TIR and time spent in hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia were determined, and CV% was used as a parameter for glycemic variability. Pearson (r) and Spearman correlations (rs) and a regression analysis were used to examine associations.ResultsNinety-five patients (age: 45 ± 10 years; HbA1C level: 7.7% ± 0.8% [61 ± 7 mmol/mol]) were included (mean blood glucose [MBG]: 159 ± 31 mg/dL; TIR: 55.8% ± 14.9%; CV%: 43.5% ± 7.8%) and labeled as having good (HbA1C level ≤7% [≤53 mmol/mol]; n = 20), moderate (7%-8%; n = 44), or poor (>8% [>64 mmol/mol]; n = 31) glycemic control. HbA1C was significantly associated with MBG (rs = 0.48, P < .001) and time spent in hyperglycemia (total: rs = 0.52; level 2: r = 0.46; P < .001) but not with time spent in hypoglycemia and CV%, even after an analysis of the HbA1C subgroups. Similarly, TIR was negatively associated with HbA1C (r = 0.53; P < .001), MBG (rs = 0.81; P < .001), and time spent in hyperglycemia (total: rs = 0.90; level 2: rs = 0.84; P < .001) but not with time in hypoglycemia. The subgroup analyses, however, showed that TIR was associated with shorter time spent in level-2 hypoglycemia in patients with good (rs = 0.60; P = .007) and moderate (rs = 0.25; P = .047) glycemic control. In contrast, CV% was strongly positively associated with time in hypoglycemia (total: rs = 0.78; level 2: rs = 0.76; P < .001) but not with TIR or time in hyperglycemia in the entire cohort, although the subgroup analyses showed that TIR was negatively associated with CV% in patients with good glycemic control (r = 0.81, P < .001) and positively associated in patients with poor glycemic control (r = +0.47; P < .01).ConclusionThe CGM-derived metrics TIR and CV% are related to clinically important situations, TIR being strongly dependent on hyperglycemia and CV% being reflective of hypoglycemic risk. However, the interpretation and applicability of TIR and CV% and their relationship depends on the level of glycemic control of the individual patient, with CV% generally adding less clinically relevant information in those with poor control. This illustrates the need for further research and evaluation of composite measures of glycemic control in T1DM.  相似文献

Propolis is rich in diverse bioactive compounds. Propolis samples were collected from three localities of Cameroon and used in the study. Column chromatography separation of propolis MeOH:DCM (50:50) extracts yielded a new isoflavonol, 2-hydroxy-8-prenylbiochanin A (1) alongside 2′,3′-dihydroxypropyltetraeicosanoate (2) and triacontyl p-coumarate (3) isolated from propolis for first time together with seven compounds: β-amyrine (4), oleanolic acid (5), β-amyrine acetate (6), lupeol (7), betulinic acid (8), lupeol acetate (9) and lupenone (10). These compounds were tested for their inhibitory effect on oxidative burst where intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) were produced from zymosan stimulated human whole blood phagocytes and on production of nitric oxide (NO) from lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated J774.2 mouse macrophages. The cytotoxicity of these compounds was evaluated on NIH-3 T3 normal mouse fibroblast cells, antiradical potential on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazylhydrazyl (DPPH·) as well as their anti-yeast potential on four selected candida species. Compound 1 showed higher NO inhibition (IC50 = 23.3 ± 0.3 µg/mL) than standard compound L-NMMA (IC50 = 24.2 ± 0.8 µg/mL). Higher ROS inhibition was shown by compounds 6 (IC50 = 4.3 ± 0.3 µg/mL) and 9 (IC50 = 1.1 ± 0.1 µg/mL) than Ibuprofen (IC50 = 11.2 ± 1.9 µg/mL). Furthermore, compound 1 displayed moderate level of cytotoxicity on NIH-3 T3 cells, with IC50 = 5.8 ± 0.3 µg/mL compared to the cyclohexamide IC50 = 0.13 ± 0.02 µg/mL. Compound 3 showed lower antifungal activity on Candida krusei and Candida glabrata, MIC of 125 μg/mL on each strain compared to 50 μg/mL for fuconazole. The extracts showed low antifungal activities ranging from 250 to 500 μg/mL on C. albicans, C. krusei and C. glabrata and the values of MIC on Candida parapsilosis were 500 μg/mL and above. DPPH* scavenging activity was exhibited by compounds 1 (IC50 = 15.653 ± 0.335 μg/mL) and 3 (IC50 = 89.077 ± 24.875 μg/mL) compared to Vitamin C (IC50 = 3.343 ± 0.271 μg/mL) while extracts showed moderate antiradical activities with IC50 values ranging from 309.31 ± 2.465 to 635.52 ± 11.05 µg/mL. These results indicate that compounds 1, 6 and 9 are potent anti-inflammatory drug candidates while 1 and 3 could be potent antioxidant drugs.  相似文献

BackgroundFurther in-vivo evidence is needed to support the usefulness of ablation index (AI) in guiding atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. We aimed at evaluating the relationship between AI and other lesion indicators and the release of myocardial-specific biomarkers following radiofrequency AF ablation.MethodsForty-six patients underwent a first-time radiofrequency AF ablation and were prospectively enrolled in this study. Pulmonary vein isolation was performed by six experienced electrophysiologists with a point-by-point approach, guided by strict Visitag criteria and consistent AI target values. Myocardial-specific biomarkers troponin T and creatine kinase myocardial band were measured after 6 (TnT6 and CKMB6) and 20 h (TnT20 and CKMB20) following sheath removal. Ablation duration, impedance drop (ID), force-time integral (FTI) and AI were registered automatically and analyzed offline.ResultsTnT release was 985 ± 495 ng/L and 1038 ± 461 ng/L (p = ns) while CKMB release was 7.3 ± 2.7 μg/L and 6.5 ± 2.1 μg/L (p < 0.001) at 6 and 20 h respectively. Ablation duration, ID, FTI and AI were all significantly correlated with the release of myocardial-specific biomarkers both at 6 and 20 h. Ablation index showed the highest degree of correlation with TnT6, TnT20, CKMB6 and CKMB20 (Pearson's R 0.69, 0.69, 0.61, 0.64 respectively, p < 0.001). Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that AI had the strongest association with TnT6, TnT20, CKMB6 and CKMB20 (β 0.43, β 0.71, β 0.44 and β 0.43 respectively).ConclusionAblation index appears as the strongest lesion indicator as measured by the release of myocardial-specific biomarkers following radiofrequency catheter ablation for AF.  相似文献

This work describes the enzymatic transesterification of the oil extracted from SCGs for synthesis of biodiesel as a promising alternative to diesel fuels based on petroleum. Biocatalysts from various sources were tested for biodiesel synthesis using coffee oil among which CaCO3- immobilized Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus stearothermophilus showed the highest conversion yields (61 ± 2.64% and 64.3 ± 1.53%, respectively) in 4 h. In further optimizing reaction parameters, methanol to oil molar ratio, biocatalyst quantity, water content, as well as incubation time and temperature markedly improved oil-to-biodiesel conversion up to 99.33 ± 0.57 % in a solvent free reaction after 12 h at 55 °C. A mixture of inexpensive CaCO3-immobilized bacterial lipases at a 1:1 ratio was the best environment-friendly catalyst for biofuel synthesis as well as the ideal trade-off between conversion and cost. Obtained coffee biodiesel remained stable beyond 40 days at ambient storage conditions and its chemical characteristics were comparable to those of other known biodiesels according to the European requirements (EN14214). Collectively, SCGs, after oil extraction, could be an ideal substrate for the production of an environment-friendly biodiesel by using appropriate mixture of CaCO3-immobilized lipases.  相似文献

The most common cryopreservation protocols of biological tissues suitable for their further implantation has some disadvantages and limited to one sample per procedure with no possible repeated freezing in case of clinical needs. This study is aimed to improve a biological tissues cryopreservation by adding a new heat transfer fluid – polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). To evaluate its efficiency the porcine biological tissues (heart valves, aortic and trachea fragments) were cryopreserved and thawed in low-viscous PDMS. According to the computer simulation, the midsection cooling rate was up to 490 °C/min and the midsection thawing rate was up to 1140 °C/min with admissible temperature uniformity. Cryoprotectants and liquid nitrogen were not used. The quality of tissue cryopreservation was evaluated using a number of histological and immunohistochemical methods (Orcein, H&E, Anti-CD34, Anti-Vimentin, Anti-Actin staining). Cryopreserved tissues showed no significant morphological difference in comparison with control group both in case of immediate thawing, and after 2 months of low temperature storage. Computer simulation of heat transfer showed the thermal limitations of used approach for larger specimens. The use of PDMS is proposed for preservation of vascular tissue in order to implant it in the form of homotransplants or biobanking with the possible additional use of an internal hydrophilic coating to prevent hydrophobization.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo assess the effect of Nordic walking (NW) on cardiometabolic health, physical performance, and well-being in sedentary older adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D).MethodsFifteen subjects with T2D (female, 5; male, 10; age, 65 ± 6.2 years [mean ± standard deviation]; body mass index, 27.3 ± 4.9 kg/m2 [mean ± standard deviation]) were enrolled in a 6-month NW training program. The fasting glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels, lipid profile (total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressures were measured before and after the intervention. Participants’ quality of life (Short-Form Health Survey) and physical fitness (6-minute walking test) were also evaluated.ResultsCompared with baseline, NW significantly improved the fasting glucose level (103.5 ± 18.5 vs 168.7 ± 37.7 mg/dL, P = .01), SBP (121.8 ± 12.2 vs 133 ± 14.4 mm Hg, P = .02), physical fitness (759.88 ± 69 vs 615.5 ± 62.6 m, P < .001), and both mental health (54.5 ± 4.4 vs 45.7 ± 5.6, P < .01) and physical health (49.8 ± 4.7 vs 40.3 ± 5.9, P < .01). The levels of glycosylated hemoglobin (6.15% ± 0.8% vs 6.4% ± 1%, P = .46), total cholesterol (162.2 ± 31.2 vs 175.5 ± 28.8 mg/dL, P = .13), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (95.2 ± 24.2 vs 106.3 ± 32.3 mg/dL, P = .43), and triglycerides (135.5 ± 60.8 vs 127.6 ± 57.4 mg/dL, P = 0.26) improved without reaching significance.ConclusionNW training improved the glycemic levels, SBP, physical fitness, and perception of quality of life in older adults with T2D. NW represents a suitable complementary strategy to improve the global health status in this population.  相似文献

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) increases the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Disruptions in the cytochrome P450-soluble epoxide hydrolase (CYP450-sEH) pathway have been reported in T2DM, obesity and cognitive impairment. We examine linoleic acid (LA)-derived CYP450-sEH oxylipins and cognition in T2DM and explore potential differences between obese and nonobese individuals. The study included 51 obese and 57 nonobese participants (mean age 63.0 ± 9.9, 49% women) with T2DM. Executive function was assessed using the Stroop Color-Word Interference Test, FAS-Verbal Fluency Test, Digit Symbol Substitution Test, and Trails Making Test-Part B. Verbal memory was assessed using the California Verbal Learning Test, second Edition. Four LA-derived oxylipins were analyzed by ultra-high-pressure–LC/MS, and the 12,13-dihydroxyoctadecamonoenoic acid (12,13-DiHOME) considered the main species of interest. Models controlled for age, sex, BMI, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c, diabetes duration, depression, hypertension, and education. The sEH-derived 12,13-DiHOME was associated with poorer executive function scores (F1,98 = 7.513, P = 0.007). The CYP450-derived 12(13)-epoxyoctadecamonoenoic acid (12(13)-EpOME) was associated with poorer executive function and verbal memory scores (F1,98 = 7.222, P = 0.008 and F1,98 = 4.621, P = 0.034, respectively). There were interactions between obesity and the 12,13-DiHOME/12(13)-EpOME ratio (F1,97 = 5.498, P = 0.021) and between obesity and 9(10)-epoxyoctadecamonoenoic acid (9(10)-EpOME) concentrations (F1,97 = 4.126, P = 0.045), predicting executive function such that relationships were stronger in obese individuals. These findings suggest that the CYP450-sEH pathway as a potential therapeutic target for cognitive decline in T2DM. For some markers, relationships may be obesity dependent.  相似文献

IntroductionVentricular arrhythmias/premature ventricular complexes (VA/PVCs) that can be ablated from within the coronary venous system (CVS) have not been described in the United States Veterans Health Administration (VHA) population. We retrospectively studied the VA/PVCs ablations that were performed in the VHA population.MethodsData from 42 consecutive patients who underwent VA/PVCs ablation at Veterans Affairs Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, with 44 VA/PVCs was included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups (CVS group [n = 10], and non-CVS group [n = 32]) based on where the earliest pre-systolic activation was seen with >95% pacematch.ResultsThe mean age in CVS group was 65 ± 8 years versus 64 ± 12 years (p = 0.69) in non-CVS group. Overall there was a statistically significant reduction in PVC burden post ablation (27.7% (pre-ablation) versus 4.7% (post-ablation). In the 10 patients in the CVS group, either ablation or catheter-related mechanical trauma resulted in complete (n = 6 [60%]) or partial (n = 4 [40%]) long-term suppression of VA/PVCs. Right bundle branch block-type VA/PVC (9/11: 82%) was the most common morphology in the CVS group, whereas in the non-CVS group, this type was seen in only 3/33 (9%). The CVS group (25% of total VA/PVCs) had shorter activation time compared to non CVS group.ConclusionIn our experience VA/PVCs with electrocardiograms suggestive of epicardial origin can often be safely and successfully ablated within the coronary venous system. These arrhythmias have unique features in Veterans patient population.  相似文献
