The aim of the study was to evaluate skin temperature of the soles of the feet before and after a provoked asymmetrical running. Seventeen recreational male runners performed two 15 min running tests in the same session. In the first test, participants performed running without modifying their running technique (control condition). In the second running test, they repeated the same protocol using an ankle weight of 1.5 kg in the non-dominant ankle (asymmetrical condition). Rate of perceive exertion, heart rate and spatio-temporal parameters were measured during the running tests. Skin temperature was measured with an infrared camera before and after each condition. Generally, comparing both lower limbs, non-preferred limb (with the ankle weight) had lower contact time (p < 0.001 and ES > 0.8), higher stride length (p < 0.05 and ES > 0.3) and higher stride frequency in asymmetrical condition (p < 0.01 and ES > 0.4). However, no differences were observed on skin temperature between both feet in the two conditions in any of the regions of interest assessed (p > 0.05). Although the asymmetry generation model used provoked technical asymmetries in spatio-temporal parameters during running, no thermal asymmetries were observed between preferred and non-preferred sole of the foot. These results suggested the lower importance of mechanical than physiological mechanisms on skin temperature during running.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate the repositioning accuracy of 4 immobilization devices (ID) used for whole breast Helical Tomotherapy treatments: arm float with VacFix® (Par Scientific, Denmark), all-in-one® (AIO®) system (Orfit, Belgium), MacroCast thermoplastic mask (Macromedics, The Netherlands) and BlueBag® system with Arm-Shuttle (Elekta, Sweden).Materials and methodsTwenty four women with breast cancer with PTV including the breast/chest wall and lymph nodes were involved in this study (6 women per group). Pretreatment registration results were first collected using automatic bone registration + manual adjustment on the vertebra followed by independent registrations on different ROIs representing each treated area (axillary, mammary chain, clavicular, breast/chest wall). The differences in translations and rotations between reference registration and the above mentionned ROIs were calculated. A total of 120 MVCT images were analyzed.ResultsSignificant differences were found between IDs (p < 0.0001), ROIs (p = 0.0002) and the session number (p < 0.0001) on the observed shifts, when examining 3D translation vectors. 3D-vectors were significantly lower for the BlueBag® than for the VacFix® or for the AIO® (p < 0.0001), but differences were not significant compared to the mask (p = 0.674). Finally, setup margins were overall smaller for the BlueBag® than for other IDs, with values ranging from 1.53 to 1.91 mm on the mammary chain area, 4.52–6.07 mm on the clavicular area, 2.71–4.62 mm on the axillary area, and 3.39–5.10 mm on the breast.ConclusionWe demonstrated in this study that the BlueBag® combined with arm shuttle is a robust solution for breast and nodes immobilization during HT treatments.  相似文献

利用红外热成像技术观察830 nm微激光治疗背肌筋膜炎的疗效。采用自主研发的半导体激光光灸仪(波长为830 nm,功率密度0.335 W/cm~2)对13例背肌筋膜炎患者的肌筋膜扳机点(MTrPs)、养老穴和承山穴进行光灸,每次4 min,每周3次,共治疗4周;用红外热像仪分别在首次、第7次和末次光灸前后对患者上背部采集图像,对MTrPs进行压痛阈值(PPT)的测定并进行VAS评分,对所得数值进行分析。在光灸6次、末次后患者VAS数值与治疗前相比均有显著性降低(P≤0.001);而治疗6次后有6个、末次治疗后有4个感兴趣区(ROIs)与治疗前相比PPT数值显著降低(P≤0.05)。红外热成像结果显示,首次、第七次和末次光灸后患者ROIs温度与相应部位治疗前相比均有增加,部分增高显著(P≤0.05);但整个疗程结束后,上背部ROIs温度与首次治疗前相比未见显著变化,红外热成像数值与PPT数值也未见显著相关。830 nm微激光光灸治疗背肌筋膜炎疗效确切,但红外热成像技术用于微激光光灸治疗背肌筋膜炎累积疗效评价尚缺乏有力证据。  相似文献

Quantification of segment soft and rigid tissue masses in living people is important for a variety of clinical and biomechanical research applications including wobbling mass modeling. Although Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) is widely accepted as a valid method for this purpose, the reliability of manual segmentation from DXA scans using custom regions of interest (ROIs) has not been evaluated to date. Upper and lower extremity images of 100 healthy adults who underwent a full body DXA scan in the supine position were manually segmented by 3 measurers independently using custom ROIs. Actual tissue masses (fat mass, lean mass, bone mineral content) of the arm, arm with shoulder, forearm, forearm and hand, thigh, leg, and leg and foot segments were quantified bilaterally from the ROIs. There were significant differences between-measurers, however, percentage errors were relatively small overall (<1–5.98%). Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were very high between and within-measurers, ranging from 0.990 to 0.999 and 0.990 to 1.00 for the upper and lower extremities, respectively, suggesting excellent reliability. Between and within-measurer errors were comparable in general, and differences between the tissue types were small on average (maximum of 42 and 53 g for upper and lower extremities, respectively). These results suggest that manual segmentation of DXA images using ROIs is a reliable method of estimating soft and rigid tissues in living people.  相似文献

PurposeValidate the skin dose software within the radiation dose index monitoring system NEXO[DOSE]® (Bracco Injeneering S.A., Lausanne, Switzerland). It provides the skin dose distribution in interventional radiology (IR) procedures.MethodsTo determine the skin dose distribution and the Peak Skin Dose (PSD) in IR procedures, the software uses exposure and geometrical parameters taken from the radiation dose structured report and additional information specific to each angiographic system. To test the accuracy of the software, GafChromic® XR-RV3 films, wrapped under a cylindrical PMMA phantom, were irradiated with different setups. Calculations and films results are compared in terms of absolute dose and geometric accuracy, using two angiographic systems (Philips Integris Allura FD20, Siemens AXIOM-ArtisZeego).ResultsCalculated and film measured PSD values agree with an average difference of 7% ± 5%. The discrepancies in dose evaluation increase up to 33% in lower dose regions, because the algorithm does not consider the out-of-field scatter contribution of the neighboring fields, which is more significant in these areas. Regarding the geometric accuracy, the differences between the simulated dose spatial distributions and the measured ones are<3 mm (4%) in simple tests and 5 mm (5%) in setups closer to clinical practice. Moreover, similar results are obtained for the two studied angiographic system vendors.ConclusionsNEXO[DOSE]® provides an accurate skin dose distribution and PSD estimate. It will allow faster and more accurate monitoring of patient follow-up in the future.  相似文献

colonise is a user‐friendly Microsoft® Windows software for the study of colonization events in natural populations. It determines the composition of the newly colonized population and makes inferences about the factors that influenced individuals to establish a new population. colonise uses a hierarchical Bayesian model to combine multilocus genotype data with demographic and environmental data, and a reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm to perform posterior density estimations. The software is written in C and C + + for the graphical user interface and is available at http://www2.ujf‐grenoble.fr/leca/presentation.html . The software integrates a tool to draw posterior density functions (histogram, running mean, traces, etc.) and to estimate parameters from them (mean, mode, variance, HPDI, etc.).  相似文献

PurposeIn interventional cardiology, patients may be exposed to high doses to the skin resulting in skin burns following single or multiple procedures. Reviewing and analysing available software (online or offline) may help medical physicists assessing the maximum skin dose to the patient together with the dose distribution during (or after) these procedures.Method and resultsCapabilities and accuracy of available software were analysed through an extensive bibliography search and contacts with both vendor and authors. Their markedly differed among developers.In total, 22 software were identified and reviewed according to their algorithms and their capabilities. Special attention was dedicated to their main features and limitations of interest for the intended clinical use.While the accuracy of the 12 software products validated with measurements on phantoms was acceptable (within ± 25%), the agreement was poor for the two products validated on patients (within ± 43% and ± 76%, respectively). In addition, no software has been validated on angiographic units from all manufacturers, though several software developers claimed vendor-independent transportability. Only one software allows for multiple procedures dose calculation.ConclusionLarge differences among vendors made it clear that work remains to be done before an accurate and reliable skin dose mapping is available for all patients.  相似文献

It is known that some of the enzymes and substances secreted by 2nd and 3rd stages of the Lucilia sericata larvae to have bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects. From this point of view, we investigated the anti-leishmanial effect of larval secretions of the L. sericata on the Leishmania tropica both in vitro and in vivo conditions. In vitro: It was observed that promastigotes of L. tropica had undergone lyzis within 1min in the larval secretions of L. sericata. However, larval secretion was ineffective on the promastigotes within Novy-MacNeal-Nicolle (NNN) cultures and RPMI 1640 medium. In vivo: Seven groups of male Balb/C mice (6 study groups and 1 control group), each composed of eight weeks old 10 mice were formed. L. tropica promastigotes were injected subcutaneosly to the soles of the SG mice' feet. In study groups, cutaneous lesions were developed Limoncu et al., 1997 in 2 (20%) and 1 (10%) of the SG-1 and SG-2, respectively after 15days. There were L. tropica in the smears prepared from the lesions and L. tropica was observed in the cultures. Cutaneous lesions were not developed in 8 (80%), 9 (90%) and 10 (100%) of the SG-I, SG-II and SG-III, respectively. There were no cutaneous lesions developed in the soles of the feet. There were no L. tropica in the smears prepared from the infected soles of the feet neither L. tropica was observed in the cultures. Larval secretions were given into the cutaneous lesions to the feet soles of the SG-IV, V and VI mice after 6months. No healing was observed in the cutaneos lesions of 4 (40%), 5 (50%) and 1 (10%) of SG-IV, SG-V and SG-VI, after 6months, respectively. There were L. tropica in the smears prepared from the lesions and L. tropica was observed in the cultures. On the other hand, the lesions of 6 (60%), 5 (50%) and 9 (90%) of SG-IV, SG-V and SG-VI were diminished in size and disappeared completely after 6months. There were L. tropica observed in the smears prepared from the infected soles of the feet and no growth was observed in the cultures. In the smears prepared from the cutaneous lesions developed in the soles of the feet of the control group mice, L. tropica was visualized and observed in the cultures. A statistical significant difference was observed between study groups and control group (p<0.001). In our study we demonstrated for the first time that the secretions of the 2nd and 3rd stages sterile and pure larvae of L. sericata had effects on promastigotes of L. tropica in in vitro and very effective on amastigote forms in in vivo conditions.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to describe the dependence on ambient temperature of distal joint temperature at the forelimbs of racehorses. The study also investigated the influence of differing ambient temperatures on the temperature difference between joints: this was measured ipsilaterally (i.e. between the carpal and fetlock joints along each forelimb) and contralaterally (i.e. between the same joints of the left and right forelimbs). Sixty-four healthy racehorses were monitored over 10 months. At each session, three thermographic images were taken of the dorsal, lateral and medial aspects of the distal forelimbs. Temperature measurements were made from regions of interest (ROIs) covering the carpal and fetlock joints. There was a strong correlation between ambient temperature and absolute joint temperature at all ROIs. The study also observed a moderate correlation between ambient temperature and the ipsilateral temperature differences between joints when measured from the medial and lateral aspects. No significant correlation was noted when measured dorsally. The mean contralateral temperature differences between joints were all close to 0 °C. The data support previous reports that the temperature distribution between the forelimbs of the healthy equine is generally symmetric, although some horses differ markedly from the average findings.  相似文献

For long, complex procedures in interventional radiology (IR) or in interventional cardiology (IC), the skin dose can be high and induce skin injuries. To improve patient follow-up, it is essential to measure and locate the peak skin dose (PSD). PSD can be measured using dosimeters or computed by skin dose calculation software solutions. Recently, a study was published (e.g. Malchair F et al Phys Med 2020; 80:75–83) listing all the software solutions developed and available and compared them in operation as regards accuracy of the calculated PSD and generated dose map. Similarities and differences exist between these different software packages, which are discussed here. The accuracy of PSD calculated on phantom studies with these software solutions are within ± 25% and poorer in patient studies. Improvements are therefore required for manufacturers of both software and IR systems. The medical physicists also have an important role to play in setting up and monitoring the dose in these software solutions to ensure the accuracy of the calculated PSD.  相似文献

Species delimitation is at the core of biological sciences. During the last decade, molecular‐based approaches have advanced the field by providing additional sources of evidence to classical, morphology‐based taxonomy. However, taxonomy has not yet fully embraced molecular species delimitation beyond threshold‐based, single‐gene approaches, and taxonomic knowledge is not commonly integrated into multilocus species delimitation models. Here we aim to bridge empirical data (taxonomic and genetic) with recently developed coalescent‐based species delimitation approaches. We use the multispecies coalescent model as implemented in two Bayesian methods (dissect/stacey and bp&p ) to infer species hypotheses. In both cases, we account for phylogenetic uncertainty (by not using any guide tree) and taxonomic uncertainty (by measuring the impact of using a priori taxonomic assignments to specimens). We focus on an entire Neotropical tribe of butterflies, the Haeterini (Nymphalidae: Satyrinae). We contrast divergent taxonomic opinion – splitting, lumping and misclassifying species – in the light of different phenotypic classifications proposed to date. Our results provide a solid background for the recognition of 22 species. The synergistic approach presented here overcomes limitations in both traditional taxonomy (e.g. by recognizing cryptic species) and molecular‐based methods (e.g. by recognizing structured populations, and not raising them to species). Our framework provides a step forward towards standardization and increasing reproducibility of species delimitations.  相似文献

Goal, Scope and Background  Performing a life cycle assessment (LCA) has been a rather resource and time-consuming business. The method of data collection may be problematic, and the quality of the final results can be influenced by the reliability of the data. Therefore, it is helpful to utilize an on-line data gathering system to save time and to improve the reliability of the collected raw data. Main Features  We have developed an LCA software package for a steel company. The software consists of two major parts: an LCA tool kit and an interface program. The LCA tool kit is a user interface for handling an LCA database server. It has powerful functions to execute systematic analysis, not only for the amount of energy and raw materials, but also for the volume of pollutants generated by each component. The latter is an interface program between a data handling system and an on-line data gathering system. This interface program is linked with three enterprise database systems, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), an environmental management system (EMS) and an energy server system (ESS). In this study, we compared three different ways of performing LCA. Two of them are on-line methods, and another is manual. Results and Discussion  Among the three methods, the best method was on-line LCA linked with ERP, EMS and ESS. Case studies in steel works have shown that the current method is superior to manual data gathering in terms of time and cost (man-month) savings, data reliability and other applications. Results of life cycle inventory and life cycle impact assessment for steel products have shown monthly fluctuations due to fuel usage ratio, which have not been detected before using manual data gathering. Conclusions  An LCA can be performed quickly, if one is to employ the on-line data gathering system we have developed. The system consists of an LCA software package including the interface program and LCA tool kit, and the enterprise database systems. Case studies for LCA with the on-line system have shown superior performance to that carried out using the manual data entry method. Recommendations and Perspective  This system enables an enterprise to take Type III and conduct benchmarking to other companies or societies within a short time. Also, combining this tool with an environmental performance evaluation or accounting system can allow one to achieve a more progressive environmental management.  相似文献

Aims and objectivesTo compare dosimetrically the manual optimisation with IPSA using dose volume histograms (DVH) among patients treated for carcinoma of cervix with intracavitary brachytherapy.BackgroundWith the advent of advanced imaging modalities, there has been a shift from conventional X-ray based planning to three-dimensional planning. Manual optimisation is widely used across various institutions but it is time consuming and operator dependant. Inverse planning simulated annealing (IPSA) is now available in various brachytherapy planning systems. But there is a paucity of studies comparing manual optimisation and IPSA in treatment of carcinoma cervix with intracavitary brachytherapy and hence this study.Materials and methodsFifteen consecutive patients treated between December 2013 and March 2014 with intracavitary brachytherapy for carcinoma of cervix were selected for this study. All patients were initially treated with external beam radiotherapy followed by intracavitary brachytherapy. The DVH was evaluated and compared between manually optimised plans and IPSA in the same set of patients.ResultsThere was a significant improvement in the HRCTV coverage, mean V100 of 87.75% and 82.37% (p = 0.001) and conformity index 0.67 and 0.6 (p = 0.007) for plans generated using IPSA and manual optimisation, respectively. Homogeneity index and dose to the OARs remained similar between the two groups.ConclusionThe use of inverse planning in intracavitary brachytherapy of cervix has shown a significant improvement in the target volume coverage when compared with manual planning.  相似文献

This study aimed to investigate whether inter-trial variability in muscle activity (electromyography, EMG) during running is influenced by the number of acquired steps and running surface. Nine healthy participants ran at preferred speed on treadmill, concrete, and grass. Tibial acceleration and surface EMG from 12 lower limb muscles were recorded. The coefficient of variation (CV) from the average EMG and peak EMG were computed from 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 steps in each running surface. Data average stability was computed using sequential estimation technique (SET) from 100 steps. The CV for average and peak EMG was lower during treadmill running compared to running on grass (−11 ± 2.88%) or concrete (−9 ± 2.94%) (p < 0.05), without differences across the different number of steps. Moreover, the peak EMG CV from peroneus longus was lower on concrete (p < 0.05), whereas gluteus maximus presented greater variability on grass compared to concrete (p < 0.05). The SET analysis revealed that average stability is reached with up to 10 steps across all running conditions. Therefore, treadmill running induced greater variability compared to overground, without influence of the number of steps on EMG variability. Moreover, average stability for EMG recordings may be reached with up to 10 steps.  相似文献

IntroductionWe compared four different methods to assess changes in cerebral blood flow in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus using cerebral ECD SPECT before and after injection of acetazolamide.Material and methodsEleven patients underwent cerebral SPECT before and after injection of 1 g of acetazolamide using a 99mTc-ECD split-dose protocole with a first injection of 370 MBq and a second of 1100 MBq. After reconstruction of volumes with Neurogam® (Segami) software, we compared visual analysis to semi quantitative analysis provided by Neurogam software, ratios methods and parametric analysis under SPM99 and SPM2.ResultsVisual analysis is immediate but frequently misleading. The contribution of Neurogam depends on the reader's skill and may be significant for non expert readers. The manual semi-automatic method is tedious and its results depend on the choice of the areas of interest and reference necessary for activity normalization. At last, the automatic method carried out by SPM is reliable for population analysis, but its efficiency for individual analysis remains to be evaluated.  相似文献

Background  

Formal classification of a large collection of protein structures aids the understanding of evolutionary relationships among them. Classifications involving manual steps, such as SCOP and CATH, face the challenge of increasing volume of available structures. Automatic methods such as FSSP or Dali Domain Dictionary, yield divergent classifications, for reasons not yet fully investigated. One possible reason is that the pairwise similarity scores used in automatic classification do not adequately reflect the judgments made in manual classification. Another possibility is the difference between manual and automatic classification procedures. We explore the degree to which these two factors might affect the final classification.  相似文献

PurposeSegmentation of cardiac sub-structures for dosimetric analyses is usually performed manually in time-consuming procedure. Automatic segmentation may facilitate large-scale retrospective analysis and adaptive radiotherapy. Various approaches, among them Hierarchical Clustering, were applied to improve performance of atlas-based segmentation (ABS).MethodsTraining dataset of ABS consisted of 36 manually contoured CT-scans. Twenty-five cardiac sub-structures were contoured as regions of interest (ROIs). Five auto-segmentation methods were compared: simultaneous automatic contouring of all 25 ROIs (Method-1); automatic contouring of all 25 ROIs using lungs as anatomical barriers (Method-2); automatic contouring of a single ROI for each contouring cycle (Method-3); hierarchical cluster-based automatic contouring (Method-4); simultaneous truth and performance level estimation (STAPLE). Results were evaluated on 10 patients. Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), average Hausdorff distance (AHD), volume comparison and physician score were used as validation metrics.ResultsAtlas performance improved increasing number of atlases. Among the five ABS methods, Hierarchical Clustering workflow showed a significant improvement maintaining a clinically acceptable time for contouring. Physician scoring was acceptable for 70% of the ROI automatically contoured. Inter-observer evaluation showed that contours obtained by Hierarchical Clustering method are statistically comparable with them obtained by a second, independent, expert contourer considering DSC. Considering AHD, distance from the gold standard is lower for ROIs segmented by ABS.ConclusionsHierarchical clustering resulted in best ABS results for the primarily investigated platforms and compared favorably to a second benchmark system. Auto-contouring of smaller structures, being in range of variation between manual contourers, may be ideal for large-scale retrospective dosimetric analysis.  相似文献
