Studies in Stryphnodendron (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) including two new taxa

Stryphnodendron campestre Forero andS. guianense (Aubl.) Benth. ssp.glandulosum Forero are described and illustrated, and notes on the nomenclature ofS. adstringens and on the exclusion ofS. colombianum from the genus are included.     

Three new species of Parkia (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) from tropical South America

Parkia cachimboensis andP. bahiae are described from central and eastern Brazil respectively. The third new species,P. panurensis, which is widespread in central and western Amazonia, has passed hitherto under the incorrect nameP. pectinata (Willd.) Benth.     

Acacia sousae (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) a new species from Mexico

A new species,Acacia sousae, from the states of Guerrero and Puebla is described and illustrated. A key for determination of the related species is given.     

Three new species of Mimosa sect. Mimosa (Leguminosae,Mimosoideae) from the campos rupestres of Minas Gerais,Brazil

Three new species of Mimosa sect. Mimosa ser. Mimosa subser. Polycephalae (Leguminosae, Mimosoideae) are described and illustrated. Mimosa canastrensis, Mimosa chrysothrix, and Mimosa decumbens are all from the campos rupestres of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Discussions about the distributions, habitat, and phenology of the species are provided, in addition to comparisons with similar taxa.     

New combinations and one new variety among the genera Indigofera,Robinia, and Tephrosia (Leguminosae)

This report includes: a new variety,Indigofera miniata var.florida, and five new combinations.I. mucronata var.keyensis, Robinia hispida var.kelseyi, Tephrosia angustissima var.corallicola, T. angustissima var.curtissii, andT. × floridana.     

Description of Acacia tenuifolia var. producta (Leguminosae,Mimosoideae), a new variety from the Guianas,and discussion of the typification of the species

A new variety, Acacia tenuifolia (Linnaeus) Willdenow var. producta is described and illustrated. The typification of the species is discussed. Acacia paniculata Willdenow and A. multipinnata Ducke are lectotypified and placed in synonomy of Acacia tenuifolia.     

Three new Brazilian species of chamaecrista moench (Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideae)

Chamaecrista (sect.Apoucouita) aspidiifolia Irwin & Barneby from Bahia,Ch. (sect.Absus) glischrodes Irwin & Barneby from Minas Gerais andCh. (sect.Absus)didyma Irwin & Barneby from Brazilian Amazonia are described, figured, and discussed in terms of affinity. Several incidental new combinations inChamaecrista are proposed.     

Dragma hippomanicum X: Astragali (Leguminosae) nevadenses novi criticive,singulo peruviano adjecto

One new species,Astragalus tiehmii, and two new varieties,A. convallarius var.margaretae andA. oophorus var.lavinii, are described from Nevada; the relationships of each are discussed and the first is illustrated. Two new combinations,A. eurylobus (Barneby) Barneby andA. serenoi var.shockleyi (M. E. Jones) Barneby are proposed and defended. A new species,A. bryogenes, is described from high Andean Peru (Junín).     

A new Bolivian Mimosa of section Habbasia series Leptostachyae (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae), close kin of the fictitious genus Schranckiastrum

Mimosa dalyi is described from eastern Bolivia, figured, and shown to be a carpologically modified member of seriesLeptostachyae, but also congeneric withSchranckiastrum. The defective protologue ofSchranckiastrum is analyzed and its one species transferred toMimosa asM. insignis (Hassler) Barneby.     

Two new Brazilian species of Chamaecrista Moench (Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideae)

Chamaecrista (sect.Apoucouita) onusta Irwin & Barneby from coastal Bahia andCh. (sect.Absus) hatschbachii Irwin & Barneby from north-central Minas Gerais are described, figured and systematically characterized. Four new combinations inChamaecrista incidental to the discussion are proposed.     

New combinations in Pediomelum (Leguminosae: Psoraleeae)

Three new combinations includePediomelum pariense, P. megalanthum var.retrorsum, andP. megalanthum var.epipsilum.     

Mycopteris,a new neotropical genus of grammitid ferns (Polypodiaceae)

Mycopteris, a new genus of grammitid ferns, is described and combinations are made for the species that belong to it. Mycopteris is diagnosed by castaneous rhizome scales with turgid cells, usually pectinate laminae, blackish petioles and rachises, blackish pinna costae and veins, reddish setae, cretaceous hydathodes, glabrous sporangia, and the presence of Acrospermum ascomes. It is entirely neotropical, ranging from Mexico east into the West Indies and south to Bolivia. Mycopteris is one of two genera of grammitid ferns that are consistently associated with Acrospermum, an epibiotic ascomycete that produces black clavate fruiting bodies. Seventeen species of Mycopteris are recognized here, including one new species (M. longipilosa) and one elevated from the rank of variety to species (M. costaricensis). The following additional combinations are made here: M. alsopteris, M. amphidasyon, M. attenuatissima, M. cretata, M. grata, M. leucolepis, M. leucostica, M. longicaulis, M. pirrensis, M. praeceps, M. semihirsuta, M. steyermarkii, M. subtilis, M. taxifolia, and M. zeledoniana. Lectotypes are chosen for Ctenopteris leucosticta, Polypodium amphidasyon, and Polypodium pectinatum var. hispidum. For each accepted species, full synonymy and geographical range are provided. Taxonomic discussion is provided for species not widely recognized in previous treatments.     

Bryosedgwickia,a new synonym of Platygyriella (Hypnaceae)

Bryosedgwickia is considered a synonym ofPlatygyriella and the following transfers are proposed:P. aurea, P. aureoides, P. densa, P. fragilifolia, P. kirtikarii andP. pringlei. A key is provided to the accepted species ofPlatygyriella. Excluded species are treated asHondaella entodontea (C. Müll.) Buck andIsopterygium jamaicense (Bartr.) Buck.     

A new species of Mimosa sect. Mimosa (Leguminosae, Mimosoideae) from Southern Brazil

A new species of Mimosa section Mimosa, Mimosa eurystegia, which is apparently endemic to Paraná in southern Brazil, is described and illustrated. This species is distinguished by plurinerved leaflets and papyraceous, plurinerved, orbicular, amplexicaul stipules. Morphological distinctiveness of this new Mimosa and its relationships with allied species are discussed. Phenological, geographical and ecological data are presented, in addition to a key to the species of Mimosa subser. Sparsae.     

Dragma Hippomanicum VII: A new alpine astragalus (Leguminosae) from western Wyoming

Astragalus (sect.Minerales) shultziorum, related toA. molybdenus Barneby which is endemic to the tundra zone of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, is described from the crest of the Salt River Range in western Wyoming, illustrated and discussed.     

Four new species of genus Cordia (Cordiaceae, Boraginales) from Brazil

We describe four new species of Cordia (Cordiaceae) from Brazil: Cordia fusca, C. glabrifolia, C. restingae, and C. tarodae. These are illustrated, and data on habitat, phenology, and distribution are provided.     

A new subspecies and new combinations in Comarostaphylis (Ericaceae)

Comarostaphylis spinulosa subsp.glandulifera is described from the mountains of Oaxaca and Puebla, Mexico. Four new combinations inComarostaphylis are also made:C. arbutoides subsp.costaricensis, C. discolor subsp.rupestris, C. polifolia subsp.minor, andC. spinulosa.Arctostaphylos glabrata, A. rupestris, andA. spinulosa are lectotypified and the status ofC. polifolia is discussed.     

A new section of clitoria subgenus neurocarpum (Leguminosae) and a new species endemic to Thailand

Tanystyloba Fantz is a section ofClitoria subgenusNeurocarpum which includes six species:C. macrophylla Wall, ex Benth.,C. javanica Miq.,C. australis Benth.,C. hanceana Hemsl.,C. linearis Gagn., andC. cordiformis Fantz, a species endemic to Thailand.
