A novel Gram-negative, rod shaped, motile, non-sporing strictly aerobic bacterium, designated strain AK5T, was isolated from a sea water sample collected near Visakhapatnam coast, Bay of Bengal, India. Colonies on marine agar were circular, 3–4 mm in diameter, creamish and rose with entire margin. Growth occurred at 10–40°C, 0.5–12% (w/v) NaCl and pH of 7–11. Strain AK5T was oxidase and catalase positive. The fatty acids were dominated by iso-branched saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with a high abundance of iso-C15:0, iso-C17:0 and summed feature 9 (as defined by MIDI). Q8 was found to be the major respiratory quinone and diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and four unidentified phospholipids as polar lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain AK5T was 54.7 ± 0.2 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain AK5T was a member of the genus Aliidiomarina and closely related to Aliidiomarina taiwanensis with a phylogenetic distance of 5.3% (94.7% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and clustered with the same species. Results from the polyphasic taxonomy study support the conclusion that strain AK5T represents a novel Aliidiomarina species, for which the name Aliidiomarina haloalkalitolerans sp. nov. is proposed. A novel aerobic, Gram-negative bacterial strain, designated KU41E(T), which degrades p-n-nonylphenol, was isolated from seawater obtained from the coastal region of Ishigaki Island, Japan. Cells are motile, curved rods with a single polar flagellum. Strain KU41E(T) grew at 20-35 °C, pH 7.0-8.0, in the presence of 1.0-4.0% NaCl. The predominant respiratory lipoquinone was ubiquinone-8, and the major cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C(15:0) iso 2OH and/or C(16:1) ω7c, 28.4%), C(18:1) ω7c (19.8%), and C(16:0) (17.0%). The DNA G + C content was 48.6 mol%. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain KU41E(T) is affiliated with the order Alteromonadales within the class Gammaproteobacteria and is most closely related to Pseudoteredinibacter isoporae SW-11(T) (93.6% similarity) and Teredinibacter turnerae T7902(T) (91.9% similarity). On the basis of physiological, chemotaxonomic, and phylogenetic data, strain KU41E(T) is suggested to represent a novel species of a new genus, for which the name Maricurvus nonylphenolicus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Thermal stress is considered one of the main causes of mass scleractinian coral degradation; however, it is still unknown how corals can adapt to future global warming. In this study, 11 strains of coral-associated Flavobacteria were shown to produce zeaxanthin, a carotenoid antioxidant, which may help coral holobionts to alleviate thermal stress. In addition, a novel zeaxanthin-producing Flavobacterium, designated R38T, was identified using polyphasic taxonomy. Although strain R38T shared a maximum 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 93% with Mesoflavibacter aestuarii KYW614T, phylogenetic analyses based on whole genome and 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain R38T forms a distinct branch in a robust cluster composed of strain R38T and Leptobacterium flavescens KCTC 22160T under the family Flavobacteriaceae. Strain R38T exhibited average nucleotide identities of 70.2% and 72.5% for M. aestuarii KYW614T and L. flavescens KCTC 22160T, respectively. The only detected respiratory quinone was menaquinone 6 (MK-6). The genomic DNA G?+?C content was 33.2 mol%. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified ninhydrin phospholipid, three unidentified ninhydrin-positive lipids, and three unidentified lipids. The major cellular fatty acids were iso???C15:?0, iso???C15:?0 ω6c, C16:2 DMA, and C13:1 ω3c. The distinct biochemical, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic, and phylogenomic differences from validly published taxa suggest that strain R38T represents a new species of a new genus, for which Prasinibacter corallicola gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain R38T (=?MCCC 1K03889T?=?KCTC 72444T).

A strictly aerobic, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium (strain CC-SAMT-1(T)) showing gliding motility was isolated from coastal seawater of China Sea, Taiwan. Strain CC-SAMT-1(T) synthesizes all-trans-zeaxanthin (6.5 ± 0.5 mg g(-1) dry biomass) as a predominant xanthophyll carotenoid. As determined by 16S rRNA gene analysis, strain CC-SAMT-1(T) shared very high sequence similarity to the members of the genera Mariniflexile (96.1-95.3%) and Gaetbulibacter (96.0-95.9%); however, it formed a distinct phyletic lineage distantly associated with Mariniflexile species. Polar lipid profile constitutes phosphatidylethanolamine, four unidentified aminolipids, four unidentified lipids, and an unidentified glycolipid. Strain CC-SAMT-1(T) contains excessive unidentified aminolipid lipid (AL2-4) and glycolipid contents, and therefore clearly distinct from Mariniflexile species. Major fatty acids (> 5% of total fatty acids) were iso-C(15:0) (14.8%), iso-C(17:0) 3-OH (11.8%), iso-C(15:1) G (10.6%), anteiso-C(15:0) (9.7%), C(16:0) (8.1%), iso-C(16:0) 3-OH (7.9%), iso-C(15:0) 3-OH (7.5%), and summed feature 3 (containing C(16:1) ω6c and/or C(16:1) ω7c) (7.5%). Menaquinone-6 (MK-6) was major respiratory quinone. DNA G+C content was 33.7 mol%. Based on polyphasic taxonomy, strain CC-SAMT-1(T) represents a novel genus and species in the family Flavobacteriaceae for which the name Siansivirga zeaxanthinifaciens gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A non-motile, Gram-stain-negative, yellow pigmented, rod-shaped bacterium, strain HMD3159T, was isolated from a solar saltern in Korea. The major fatty acids were iso-C15:0 (26.3%), iso-C17:0 3OH (12.1%), iso-C16:0 (12.0%), summed feature 3 (comprising C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c; 11.0%) and summed feature 9 (iso-C17:1 ω9c and/or 10-methyl C16:0; 10.0%). The major respiratory quinone was MK-6. The DNA G+C content was 40.9 mol%. The phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain HMD3159T formed a lineage within the genus Gramella and closely related to Gramella gaetbulicola (95.5% sequence similarity), Gramella portivictoriae (94.9%), Gramella echinicola (94.6%), and Gramella marina (93.6%). On the basis of the evidence presented in this study, strain HMD3159T represents a novel species of the genus Gramella, for which the name Gramella jeungdoensis sp. nov., is proposed. A marine bacterial strain, designated OB44-3T, was isolated from a crude oil-contaminated seawater sample collected near Dalian Bay, China. Cells of strain OB44-3T were Gramnegative, aerobic, rod-shaped, and oxidase- and catalasepositive. The major fatty acids were branched-chain saturated iso-C15:0 (27.9%) and unsaturated iso-C17:1 ω9c (14.8%). The DNA G+C content was 64.6 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain OB44-3T was a member of the genus Luteimonas (95–96% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity); its closest neighbors were the type strains of Luteimonas terricola (96% sequence similarity), Luteimonas mephitis (96%), and Luteimonas lutimaris (96%). On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain OB44-3T was considered to represent a novel species of the genus Luteimonas. The name Luteimonas dalianensis sp. nov. is proposed, with strain OB44-3T (=CGMCC 1.12191T =JCM 18136T) as the type strain.  相似文献

A strictly aerobic, non-motile, ovoid-shaped Alphaproteobacteria, designated strain JC2049(T), was isolated from a tidal flat sediment sample. The results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that this isolate belonged to the genus Thalassobius, with a sequence similarity of 96.9-97.3% to other valid Thalassobius spp. The cells required 1-7% NaCl for growth (optimum 2%) and accumulated poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate. Nitrite was reduced to nitrogen, but nitrate was not reduced to nitrite. No genetic potential for aerobic anoxygenic photosynthesis was detected. The primary isoprenoid quinone (Ubiquinone-10), predominant cellular fatty acids (C(18:1)omega7c, 11 methyl C(18:1)omega7c and C(16:0)) and DNA G+C content (61 mol%) were all consistent with the assignment of this isolate to the genus Thalassobius. Several phenotypic characteristics clearly distinguished our isolate from other Thalassobius species. The degree of genomic relatedness between strain JC2049(T) and other Thalassobius species was in a range of 20-43%. The polyphasic data presented in this study indicates that our isolate should be classified as a novel species within the genus Thalassobius. The name Thalassobius aestuarii sp. nov. is therefore proposed for this isolate; the type strain is JC2049(T) (= IMSNU 14011(T) = KCTC 12049(T) = DSM 15283(T)).  相似文献

A novel strictly aerobic, gliding, Gram-negative, rod-shaped, halo- and mesophilic bacterium (TD-ZX30(T)) was isolated from a seawater sample collected on the Pacific coastline of Japan near Kamakura City (Fujisawa, Kanagawa). The temperature range for growth of TD-ZX30(T) was between 16 and 44 degrees C. The DNA G+C content was 32.0mol%. The predominant fatty acids were iso-C(15:1) G, iso-C(15:0), iso-C(16:0) 3-OH, iso-C(15:0) 3-OH, Summed feature (iso-C(15:0) 2-OH and/or C(16:1)omega7c), iso-C(17:0) 3-OH, and C(15:0). MK-6 was the only respiratory quinone. Zeaxanthin was the major carotenoid pigment produced but flexirubin-type pigments were not produced. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that TD-ZX30(T) belonged to a distinct lineage in the family Flavobacteriaceae, sharing 93.9% sequence similarity with the nearest species Olleya marilimosa. TD-ZX30(T) could be distinguished from the other members of the family Flavobacteriaceae by a number of chemotaxonomic and phenotypic characteristics. The results of polyphasic taxonomic analyses suggested that TD-ZX30(T) represents a novel genus and a novel species, for which the name Mesoflavibacter zeaxanthinifaciens gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A novel bacterial strain, designated T-Y1T, capable of degrading a variety of polysaccharides was isolated from seawater of an oyster farm in the South Sea, Korea. It was found to be aerobic, Gram-negative, non-flagellated, non-gliding and rod-shaped. Strain T-Y1T grew optimally at 25 °C, at pH 7.0–7.5 and in the presence of 2 % (w/v) NaCl. A neighbour-joining phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain T-Y1T belonged to the genus Winogradskyella. Strain T-Y1T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity values of 95.0–96.8 % to the type strains of recognized Winogradskyella species and less than 94.5 % to other validly named species. The chemotaxonomic data concurred with the phylogenetic inference. Strain T-Y1T contained MK-6 as the predominant menaquinone and anteiso-C15:0, iso-C15:0, iso-C15:1 G and iso-C16:0 3-OH as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids of strain T-Y1T were phosphatidylethanolamine and two unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content was 36.2 mol%. Differential phenotypic properties, together with its phylogenetic distinctiveness, enabled strain T-Y1T to be differentiated from the recognized Winogradskyella species. On the basis of the data presented here, strain T-Y1T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Winogradskyella, for which the name Winogradskyella multivorans sp. nov. is proposed. Strain BS12T, a Gram-negative motile bacterium, was isolated from soil in South Korea and characterized to determine its taxonomic position. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the strain belonged to the family Alcaligenaceae in the class Betaproteobacteria. The highest degree of sequence similarities of strain BS12T were found with Pigmentiphaga litoralis JSM 061001T (98.3%), Pigmentiphaga daeguensis K110T (98.2%), and Pigmentiphaga kullae K24T (98.1%). Chemotaxonomic data revealed that strain BS12T possessed ubiquinone-8, which is common in the family Alcaligenaceae, and the predominant fatty acids were C16:0, C17:0 cyclo, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω6c/ω7c), and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω6c/ω7c). The major polar lipids of strain BS12T were phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol. Based on these data, BS12T (=KCTC 23577T =JCM 17666T =KEMB 9004-082T) should be classified as a type strain of a novel species, for which the name Pigmentiphaga soli sp. nov. is proposed.  相似文献
