The bactericidal activity of gaseous ozone was investigated using a commercial ozone generator. Five species of fish bacteria, Pseudomonas putida, Shewanella putrefaciens, Brochothrix thermosphacta, Enterobacter sp. and Lactobacillus plantarum , were inoculated on agar surfaces and exposed to different ozonation times in a gas chamber. Results showed ozone in relatively low concentrations (<0·27 × 10−3 g l−1) was an effective bactericide of vegetative cells of the five fish bacteria. The age of the cell culture was shown to influence the cell response following exposure. Survival rate was not linearly related to ozonation time, but exhibited biphasic death over an extended period. Similar bactericidal effects were observed on fish skin treated with ozone daily in the laboratory, with decreases of 1·0 log cfu cm−2 for the micro-organisms studied. Whole fish treated daily in the laboratory using a commercial ozone generator showed improved scores for sensory analyses compared with the controls. The results were statistically significant. Fish treated on board ships were also analysed for microbiological and sensory changes. Controls were obtained from a similar vessel without the ozone facility in the hold. Similar trends to those recorded in the laboratory for the microbiological and sensory results on ozonated fish were observed.  相似文献

Disinfection by ozonation of sea-water may reduce the risk of transmission of nodavirus, a major fish pathogen, via Atlantic halibut Hippoglossus hippoglossus eggs. In the present study, eggs at 4 d prior to hatching were exposed to nodavirus and then to ozonated sea-water using different concentrations (0.3 to 10 mg l-1) and exposure times (0.5 to 10 min). None of the larvae from virus-exposed eggs washed with ozonated sea-water developed viral encephalopathy and retinopathy (VER), which was detected in all dead larvae from eggs exposed to nodavirus but not washed with ozonated sea-water. In the non-treated control group about 20% of the dead larvae developed the disease. This suggests that the halibut eggs taken from a large-scale production facility were already contaminated with nodavirus. The egg groups which had been treated with 4 mg O3 l-1 for 0.5 min or with lower total ozone exposures had a higher survival and no adverse effects on the development of the larvae after hatching were observed. Although a slight delay in hatching was found, after 2 d the cumulative hatching had normalised. In the egg groups with high total exposure (4 mg O3 l-1 for 1 min or higher total ozone exposures) a pronounced negative effect on hatching was observed. Our results indicate that the egg surface may be important in the transfer of nodavirus and that nodavirus associated with the surface of the egg may be inactivated by ozonated sea-water.  相似文献

为掌握禁捕初期鄱阳湖鱼类群落的结构特征, 研究于2020年4月(春季)、7月(夏季)、10月(秋季)和2021年1月(冬季)在鄱阳湖21个采样点开展了渔获物调查。全年共采集到57种鱼类, 隶属于8目12科43属。优势种有贝氏?(Hemiculter bleekeri)、短颌鲚(Coilia brachygnathus)、蛇(Saurogobio dabryi)、和似鳊(Pseudobrama simoni)等4种鱼类。江湖洄游型、江海洄游型和河流型鱼类物种数共占比45.61%, 平均体重<20 g的物种的丰度占所有渔获物丰度的88.47%。在空间结构上, 基于鱼类丰度的非度量多维排序分析将鄱阳湖分为通江水道和主湖区两个大的空间类群, 方差分析表明通江水道鱼类丰度显著低于主湖区, 但多样性高于主湖区。在季节变化方面, 不同季节渔获物丰度、生物量和多样性的差异极其显著, 高水位时期(夏、秋季)的多样性高于低水位时期(春、冬季)。2020年10月在鄱阳湖主湖区中部的S9和通江水道的S20两个采样点发现了鄱阳湖历史文献中没有记录的广盐性近海鱼类——鲻(Mugil cephalus), 可能得益于长江禁捕, 由于消除了捕捞压力, 促使了该鱼类的资源恢复和上溯, 也不排除其他人为因素的可能, 因而需要更长时间序列的跟踪和监测。研究为全面评估鄱阳湖禁捕的生态效果提供了基础数据, 也为制定鄱阳湖鱼类资源的保护政策提供了参考。  相似文献

We evaluate hypotheses for meso-scale spatial structure in an orange roughy (Hoplostethus atlanticus) stock using samples collected during research trawl surveys off the east coast of New Zealand. Distance-based linear models and generalised additive models were used to identify the most significant biological, environmental, and temporal predictors of variability in diet, proportion of stomachs containing prey, standardised weight of prey, fish somatic weight, fish total weight, and reproductive activity. The diet was similar to that observed elsewhere, and varied with ontogeny, depth, and surface water temperature. Smaller sized and female orange roughy in warmer bottom water were most likely to contain food. Fish condition and reproductive activity were highest at distances more than 20 km from the summit of the hills. Trawl survey catches indicated greater orange roughy densities in hill strata, suggesting hill habitat was favoured. However, analyses of feeding, condition, and reproductive activity indicated hill fish were not superior, despite fish densities on hills being reduced by fishing which, in principle, should have reduced intra-specific competition for food and other resources. Hypotheses for this result include: (1) fish in relatively poor condition visit hills to feed and regain condition and then leave, or (2) commercial fishing has disturbed feeding aggregations and/or caused habitat damage, making fished hills less productive. Mature orange roughy were observed on both flat and hill habitat during periods outside of spawning, and if this spatial structure was persistent then a proportion of the total spawning stock biomass would remain unavailable to fisheries targeting hills. Orange roughy stock assessments informed only by data from hills may well be misleading.  相似文献

This study was performed to investigate the petroleum hydrocarbon (PH) degradative potential of indigenous microorganisms in ozonated soil to better develop combined pre-ozonation/bioremediation technology. Diesel-contaminated soils were ozonated for 0–900min. PH and microbial concentrations in the soils decreased with increased ozonation time. The greatest reduction of total PH (TPH, 47.6%) and aromatics (11.3%) was observed in 900-min ozonated soil. The number of total viable heterotrophic bacteria decreased by three orders of magnitude in the soil. Ozonated soils were incubated for 9weeks for bioremediation. The number of microorganisms in the soils increased during the incubation period, as monitored by culture- and nonculture-based methods. The soils showed additional PH-removal during incubation, supporting the presence of PH-degraders in the soils. The highest removal (25.4%) of TPH was observed during the incubation of 180-min ozonated soil during the incubation while a negligible removal was shown in 900-min ozonated soil. This negligible removal could be explained by the existence of relatively few or undetected PH-degraders in 900-min ozonated soil. After a 9-week incubation of the ozonated soils, 180-min ozonated soil showed the lowest TPH concentration, suggesting that appropriate ozonation and indigenous microorganisms survived ozonation could enhance remediation of PH-contaminated soil. Microbial community composition in 9-week incubated soils revealed a slight difference between 900-min ozonated and unozonated soils, as analyzed by whole cell hybridization. Taken together, this study provided insight into indigenous microbial potential to degrade PH in ozonated soils.  相似文献

Effects of seawater ozonation on biofilm development in aquaculture tanks   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Microbial biofilms developing in aquaculture tanks represent a reservoir for opportunistic bacterial pathogens, and procedures to control formation and bacterial composition of biofilms are important for the development of commercially viable aquaculture industries. This study investigated the effects of seawater ozonation on biofilm development on microscope glass slides placed in small-scale aquaculture tanks containing the live feed organism Artemia. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) demonstrated that ozonation accelerated the biofilm formation cycle, while it delayed the establishment of filamentous bacteria. Gammaproteobacteria and Alphaproteobacteria were the most abundant bacterial groups in the biofilm for both water types, but ozonation influenced their dynamics. With ozonation, the bacterial community structure was relatively stable and dominated by Gammaproteobacteria throughout the experiment (21–66% of total bacteria). Without ozonation, the community showed larger fluctuations, and Alphaproteobacteria emerged as dominant after 18 days (up to 54% of total bacteria). Ozonation of seawater also affected the dynamics of less abundant populations in the biofilm such as Betaproteobacteria, Planctomycetales and the Cytophaga/Flavobacterium branch of phylum Bacteroidetes. The abundance of Thiothrix, a bacterial genus capable of filamentous growth and fouling of larvae, increased with time for both water types, while no temporal trend could be detected for the genus Vibrio. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) demonstrated temporal changes in the dominant bacterial populations for both water types. Sequencing of DGGE bands confirmed the FISH data, and sequences were related to bacterial groups commonly found in biofilms of aquaculture systems. Several populations were closely related to organisms involved in sulfur cycling. Improved Artemia survival rates in tanks receiving ozonated water suggested a positive effect of ozonation on animal health. Although the used ozonation protocol did not hinder biofilm formation, the results suggest ozonation as a promising approach for manipulation of bacterial populations in aquaculture systems, which can prove beneficial for cultured animals.  相似文献

In this work the effect of ozonation on olive oil, soybean oil, oleic-, linoleic- and linolenic acid was studied. The effects of ozonation time on the oils and acids were analyzed by 1H, 13C NMR. Further, the peroxide- and acid values, the viscosity and the molar mass were determined for pure and ozonated oils. The fatty chains in both ozonated oils showed a gradual decrease of unsaturation with the gradual increase of ozonation time. Reaction products were identified according to Criegee mechanism. The major product in the early stage of the reaction was ozonide. The disappearance of unsaturation and formation of ozonide was almost equal. Ozonation increased the peroxide and acid values for both oils, the increase being higher for soybean oil. After long ozonation times higher molar mass species, as well as low molar mass species were observed. These are interpreted as oligomeric ozonides and cross-ozonides, respectively.  相似文献

Surface water used for drinking-water preparation requires continuous monitoring for the presence of toxic compounds. For monitoring of genotoxic compounds fish models have been developed, such as the Eastern mudminnow (Umbra pygmaea L.) because of its clearly visible 22 meta-centric chromosomes. It was demonstrated in the late seventies that Rhine water was able to induce chromosome aberrations and sister chromatid exchange in this fish species. Although in vitro mutagenicity studies of the RIWA (Rhine Water Works, The Netherlands) have shown that the genotoxicity of the river Rhine steadily decreased during the last decades, there is still concern about the presence of some residual mutagenicity. In addition, in most studies the water samples have been tested only in in vitro test systems such as the Salmonella-microsome test. For this reason, and in order to be able to make a comparison with the water quality 27 years ago, a study was performed with the same experimental design as before in order to measure the effect of Rhine water on the induction of SCE in the Eastern mudminnow. As a new test system the single cell gel electrophoresis assay (Comet assay) was performed. Fish were exposed to Rhine water or to groundwater for 3 and 11 days in flow-through aquaria. Fish exposed for 11 days to Rhine water had a significantly higher number of SCE and an increased comet tail-length compared with control fish exposed to groundwater. After exposure for three days to Rhine water there was no difference in SCE and a slightly increased comet tail-length compared with the control. It was concluded that genotoxins are still present in the river Rhine, but that the genotoxic potential has markedly decreased compared with 27 years ago. Furthermore, the Comet assay appears to be a sensitive assay to measure the genotoxic potential of surface waters in fish.  相似文献

Ichthyoarchaeological analyses of the freshwater fish remains from levels 19 and 20 in El Mirador cave (Atapuerca, Spain) have been conducted. Fish were always present as a source of animal protein, although their importance in the human diet was not fully exploited by people during the Neolithic on the Iberian Peninsula. Two principal goals are treated here: a taxonomic study of the fish remains and a characterization of the exploitation of this resource. The results show that the human community of El Mirador cave practiced fishing, and that fish was part of their diet and social life.  相似文献

A study of spear fishing by the Barí of the Maracaibo Basin provides data demonstrating a benefit accruing to individual fishermen fishing in groups. An analysis of counts of successful and unsuccessful spear thrusts shows that fish are made more vulnerable to spear thrusts by companion fishermen who wear down and confuse the fish. Fish vulnerability is seen to depend on the number of encounters a fish has already survived. This Encounter History effect may be operative in other predator and prey relationships.  相似文献

Water and sediment quality conditions in and around a cage culture unit located in Wismar Bay (Western Baltic Sea, Germany) were investigated during summer 1994 using bacterial group indicators (Enterobacteriaceae, saprophytic bacteria and Vibrio , determined on selective media). Fish were fed once daily with extruded commercial pellets. Over a period of 8 days samples were taken before and after feeding at different sampling points close to or at the cages. The results showed that a drastic (up to 10 times) increase in different bacterial groups occurred inside the cages 10 min after feeding as well as occasionally in the surrounding water. Additional electron-microscopic observations of the bacterial biofilm on the cage nets revealed that a decrease (in comparison with the original number) in total bacteria on the net materials of 9.5 up to 42.8% occurred after feeding. It was concluded that water mixing caused by frenzied swimming just before and during feeding caused a release of bacteria which were growing vigorously on the surfaces of the cage system. Since the pathogenity and hydrophobicity of bacteria are closely related, this process of redistribution of bacteria into the water column could constitute an important stress factor for fish, which could probably also have a negative effect on fish production.  相似文献

Fish stocks are declining at alarming rates in the Central African forests but little is known about patterns of fishing pressure for different areas. To contribute to the understanding of covariates that could explain these trends, this study documented the relative abundances of fish in eleven sites in the western Democratic Republic of Congo in relation to human density, distance from the nearest markets and mean numbers of fishing nets. Linear regression indicated that, taken alone, 88 % of observed differences in fish relative abundance correlated with the mean number of fishing nets and 60 % of these differences were attributable to distance from the nearest market. Human density was marginally associated with fish abundance. The study also shows that fish and wildlife relative abundances followed the same trends: where more wildlife species remain, there are more abundant fish stocks. The two conservation messages of this paper are that, as is the case for bushmeat, fishing becomes a problem when the commercial market is its prime driver and a solution to the bushmeat crisis could also reduce over-fishing.  相似文献

Juveniles of the European sea bass Dicentrarchus labrax were exposed to both cell-free medium and whole cell cultures of the dinoflagellate Prorocentrum lima strain PL2V. Fish were also fed a commercial fish diet in tanks containing live P. lima, and Artemia that had ingested the alga. Fish exposed to the cell-free medium and to whole cell cultures were stressed and behaved abnormally when compared to the behaviour of control fish, fish in normal seawater. Stress-related behaviours included hyperactivities (jumps, fast let-right turns, surface swims, etc), poor feeding reflexes and abstinence from feeding. Fish that directly ingested the alga or that ingested Artemia containing the alga died. Histological studies revealed that gills and liver of treated fish were impacted, as opposed to the normal conditions of same tissues in control fish. The diseased organs could have been responsible for the abnormal behaviours and death of treated fish. The aquaculture and ecological implications of the results are discussed.  相似文献

Studies on feeding ecology of fishes are important for understanding ecosystem structure and function. This study tested the hypothesis of diet and niche breath variation in the marbled parrotfish (Leptoscarus vaigiensis) among coral reefs of different protection levels in Kenya. Fish samples were obtained from protected (Malindi and Watamu marine parks), moderately fished (Malindi and Watamu marine reserves) and highly fished (Vipingo and Kanamai) reefs. Total lengths of fish samples were measured and their stomach contents quantified using the point method. Seasonal dietary composition, niche breaths and feeding intensities were compared between the sites using multivariate statistics. Results showed the parrotfish is a predominantly reef macroalgal grazer. Fish from protected sites fed on diverse dietary items compared to those from reserves and highly fished sites. Fish niche breadths differed between sites and seasons. Higher niche breadths occurred in protected sites during the north‐east monsoon, while higher values occurred at fished sites during the south‐east monsoon season. This study, the first of its kind in Kenya and most of the western Indian Ocean, describes feeding in the marbled parrotfish and spatial variation in niche breadth as influenced by fishing pressure, environmental variability and biological interactions.  相似文献

Artificial reefs are often deployed by many countries for the purpose of enhancing fishing after a period of several years. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of a pilot artificial reef system deployment in enhancing the demersal fish assemblages, investigated using both acoustic methods and bottom trammel nets, during four years between 2011 and 2017, in Xiangshan Bay, Zhejiang Province, China. Comparisons of community indices, including fish biomass, species richness and species diversity, indicated relatively consistent trends between the control sites and the artificial reefs following their deployment in 2012. Fish density, represented by the value of the nautical area scattering coefficient, and fish biomass were significantly higher on the artificial reefs than at the control sites in 2015 and 2017, and species richness and diversity were significantly greater at the reefs from 2013 to 2017. Blackhead seabream (Acanthopagrus schlegelii) and false kelpfish (Sebastiscus marmoratus) were the dominant fishes on the artificial reefs, and the average body lengths of these two species were significantly greater 40 and 64 months after deployment. Thus, construction of the artificial reefs appears to have achieved their primary purpose as fish-attraction devices, thereby contributing to ecological restoration in Xiangshan Bay.  相似文献

Ozonation of neat sunflower oil (SFO) methyl esters was monitored by FT-IR and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. During the early stage of ozonation, ozone absorption was essentially quantitative. This was accompanied by the formation of 1,2,4-trioxolane. IR and NMR spectra of ozonated samples showed that scission of ozonide to give aldehyde were minimal. 1H NMR analysis revealed that the amount of ozonide relative to aldehyde was more than 90% regardless of the extent of ozonation. Complete ozonation was attained after supplying around 0.20 g O3/ml methyl ester after which ozone absorption suddenly dropped to around 25%. At the latter part of ozonation, ozonide and aldehyde reacted with excess ozone to give carboxylic acid. Reaction products were identified according to Criegee mechanism.  相似文献

Freshwater fishery management is treated as a dynamic system comprising environment protection and improvement, fishing, fishery resources allocation, fish stocking programs and marketing policy. The aims of the plan are to increase the economic value of the catch and to protect the professional fishery. Fisheries statistics, catch per unit effort data and other material were collected during 1972–1976. The total allowable catch (TAC) for the most important fish species was estimated with MSY and population analysis models. The results of fish stockings were studied by tagging and population analysis calculations. Fishing of vendace and non-valuable species (perch, roach, smelt) can be increased, but the fishing pressure on other species should not be raised above the present level. Restrictions on whitefish fishing are needed in some areas. A balanced multispecies fishery is desirable, and suggestions are given for the composition of the fishing gear. Fish stocking can make possible a larger and more valuable catch, but at present its profitability is rather low. The stocking results are strongly affected by the fishery and the gear composition.  相似文献

Ozonation has been considered as a method for the pretreatment of plant biomass to obtain cellulose and monosaccharides. Ozone consumption by aspen wood with various moisture contents has been investigated. We have considered the gradual transformation of the substrate: wood to ozonated wood to cellulose-containing product (CP) to holocelluloze (HC) and to cellulose. Yields of ozonated wood (OW), the (CP), water-soluble ozonation products, HC, and cellulose have been determined. The lignin content in the CP has been estimated. Both HC and cellulose samples have been studied by IR spectroscopy. The degree of polymerization and molecular mass distribution of cellulose obtained from ozonated wood have been determined. It has been shown that wood destruction by ozone is accompanied by degradation of lignin, hemicelluloses, and cellulose.It has been found that physicochemical properties of cellulose obtained from ozonated wood can be regulated by the variation of the initial moisture content in the substrate. Both molecular ozone and radical species, which are generated in the course of ozone reactions with water present in the substrate structure, participate in wood destruction.  相似文献

Ultraviolet light has been investigated as an active energy input for the control of slime film formation on optical surfaces submerged in San Francisco Bay for periods up to 6 weeks. Irradiation of quartz underwater windows was carried out from three positions: (i) exterior to the window, (ii) from directly behind the window, and (iii) from the edge of the window with the ultraviolet (UV) energy refracted through the front of the window. Internally administered irradiation reaching levels of 10 to 30 μW per cm2 measurable at the glass surface was effective in preventing bacterial slime film formation and settlement of metazoan larvae. When administered from the external position, over one order of magnitude more (500 to 600 μW/cm2) UV energy was required to accomplish the same result. Irradiation from the edge position was most promising logistically and was effective in fouling control for 6 weeks. The results provide a preliminary quantitation of the energy requirement for control of the marine microfouling sequence which precedes development of macrofouling communities.  相似文献
