Trisomy 20p due to a paternal reciprocal translocation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A mentally retarded boy with multiple malformations was found to have trisomy for the distal two-thirds of the short arm of chromosome 20 (trisomy 20p), resulting from a paternal translocation (5;20)(p15;p11). The patient had a cleft palate, a feature not present in other trisomy 20p patients. A review of the reported trisomy 20p patients indicates that their varied features do no constitute a readily recognizable clinical syndrome.  相似文献

Summary Chromosomal analyses of three pheochromocytomas from patients with von Hippel-Lindau syndrome are reported. One pheochromocytoma revealed a normal karyotype, another tumor showed a trisomy 7 as the only chromosomal abnormality, whereas in a further sample a polyclonal chromosome constitution was detected. In addition to a normal 46,XX cell line, four distinct chromosomally abnormal cell lines could be identified. One cell line revealed partial trisomy for the long arm of chromosome 1 and additionally exhibited the phenomenon of telomeric association. Most interestingly, three further cell clones showed rearrangements of chromosome 3 including the region where the von Hippel-Lindau gene was mapped; three rearrangements resulted in a partial or total trisomy of 3p. Our findings are discussed in relation to previously reported cytogenetic and molecular results regarding von Hippel-Lindau syndrome.  相似文献

This report describes an infant with fatal congenital heart disease, cleft palate, brain malformations, and trisomy 8p resultant from the paternal balanced reciprocal translocation, rcp(8;15) (p11;p11). Review of six previously reported trisomy 8p patients (resultant from parental balanced translocation in each instance) revealed severe mental retardation in five, short stature in all, and a variety of brain, skeletal, and cardiac defects. The features of the seven trisomy 8p patients reviewed here are not sufficiently similar to suggest a distinct dysmorphic syndrome. In addition the features differ from those in the trisomy 8 mosaicism syndrome, in which the mental retardation and malformations are generally less severe.  相似文献

We report on a 12-year-old boy with a supernumerary chromosome der(21)t(7; 21)(p21; q21.3)mat, resulting in a partial trisomy 21 and a partial trisomy 7p. The patient has a severe psychomotor retardation. Although he has most of chromosome 21 in three copies, he does not have a phenotype of Down syndrome (DS). In addition to cytogenetic analysis, molecular analysis confirmed that the "DS critical region" on chromosome 21 (21q22) is not present in three copies, since the breakpoint of the partial trisomy 21 was found to be located distal to the marker locus D21S145 but proximal to D21S226. The patient's severe mental retardation is probably due to the small telomeric 7p trisomy, having the breakpoint between markers D7S507 and D7S488. In comparison with previously published cases of partial trisomy 7p, the phenotype of this patient indicates that there is a region around the distal part of band 7p21 that in three copies might contribute to many of the facial features common to patients with partial trisomy 7p.  相似文献

Thirteen previously unreported patients with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome are reported. They include two unrelated patients having developed nephroblastoma, and three sibs. High resolution banding techniques failed to show any evidence of trisomy 11p15 in any of these 13 patients. The clinical pictures of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome with and without trisomy 11p15 are compared.  相似文献

Three new observations of trisomy 4p are reported. Two are due to a maternal translocation t(4;15). The third is due to a "mirror" duplication, it is the first case of trisomy 4p without balanced parental rearrangement. We describe a female child with complex cytogenetic anomalies consisting in partial trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 10, terminal deletion of the long arm of chromosome 2 and--at the same time--a mosaicism for X monosomy. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported in which 10p trisomy is associated to a 2qter deletion. Due to the scarcity of cases reported with pure trisomy, it has not been possible to define the 10p+ syndrome precisely yet. Comparison of our proband's phenotype to both the 2q37 deletion and 10p trisomy showed more features described in 2q37- subjects than in 10p+ ones. We also discuss the difficulties of genetic counseling in children with complex aberrations.  相似文献

Three related new cases with almost complete trisomy 11p due to paternal balanced translocation 46, XY, t(7; 11) (q36.1; p11.1) are reported. The proband (Case 1) was a malformed stillborn with exomphalos, case 2 was diagnosed in the first trimester by direct chromosome preparations from chorionic villi, and confirmed on fetal products after termination of pregnancy. Case 3, a cousin to cases 1 and 2, was a 29-weeks-old fetus with omphalocele discovered at ultrasound. Literature reports of trisomy 11p are reviewed with regard to those new cases, and the possible relationship of this chromosome imbalance with the Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome is discussed.  相似文献

It is reported on a boy of 4 years 9 months with trisomy of the distal part of the short arm of a chromosome 10, due to a balanced 7/10 translocation in the father. Besides multiple minor dysmorphias the patient showed severe mental retardation, small stature, hypotonia, retarded bone age. Two patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML-M7 and AML-M4) and trisomy 10 as the sole chromosome abnormality are reported. In the first patient, all karyotypes were abnormal. A karyotypically normal cell population was present in the second patient and the trisomic cells were less numerous than the normal ones at diagnosis. A review of the literature shows the rarity of isolated trisomy 10 in hematopoietic disorders and the diversity of the involved diseases. Moreover, in some patients, the trisomic cell population was less numerous than the normal one. These data are discussed in relation with the hypothesis that cells with trisomy 10 can belong to nonmalignant clones, at least in some cases, as previously shown for trisomy 7 in other conditions.  相似文献

We describe the 11th case of a de novo partial trisomy of the long arm of chromosome 4, with the extra segment spanning from 4q27 to 4q35. The aberration resulted from an unbalanced translocation of material from 4q to the short arm of chromosome 7, as evident from fluorescent in situ hybridization. Microsatellite analysis revealed the extra material to originate from the father. The karyotype was interpreted as 46,XX,der(7)t(4;7)(q27;p22). The patient is a 13-year-old girl with severe mental retardation, growth retardation, hearing impairment as well as minor foot, thumb and facial anomalies. Although the extent of the aberration varies between the reported patients, there are nevertheless features in common, suggestive of a trisomy 4q syndrome. The clinical findings most frequently reported are: mental retardation, seizures, microcephaly, hearing impairment and growth retardation, as well as epicanthic folds, high/broad/depressed nasal bridge, malformed ears, tooth and thumb anomalies. Almost the entire long arm of chromosome 4, except band q11, has been involved in trisomies/duplications, but 4q27 and 4q31 seem to be preferentially engaged in the trisomy 4q syndrome.  相似文献

Summary A case of complete trisomy 5p due to a de novo translocation t(2;5)(q36;p11) with an isochromosome 5p is described. Complete trisomy 5p has been reported only once (Brimblecombe et al., 1977). The confusing literature relating to partial trisomy 5p is reviewed. Comparison of our case with the patients reported by Brimblecombe et al. (1977) and by Opitz and Patau (1975) is suggestive for a distinct clinical syndrome if (almost) the complete short arm of chromosome 5 is present in a trisomic state. Unfortunately the clinical findings in the case of Brimblecombe (1966, 1977) are poorly documented. The main features of this syndrome are: macrocephaly, psychomotor retardation, hypotonia, postnatal growth failure, tracheobronchial involvement, mongoloid slant of the eyes, epicanthus, low-set ears, depressed nasal bridge, short first toe, and seizures.  相似文献

Summary A partial trisomy for the distal segment of the long arm of chromosome 7 (bands q32qter) was observed in a severely retarded child with somatic and CNS anomalies. The phenotypically normal father and paternal grandmother had a balanced reciprocal translocation between the long arm of a chromosome 2 and the long arm of a chromosome 7: 46,XX-XY,t(2;7) (q37;q32). The clinical features of the child at birth and at the ages of 5 months and 2 years are compared with those previously reported in cases of partial trisomy 7q.  相似文献

A new case of a de novo trisomy 10cen-->10pter is described. The karyotype was exactly defined by high resolution banding and FISH analysis; the chromosome aberration was of maternal meiotic origin as demonstrated by RFLP analysis. Clinical data are reported and correlated with other trisomy 10p cases from the literature. A critical review of the literature was made to define the phenotype of trisomy 10p syndrome.  相似文献

We report, a newborn presenting multiple congenital abnormalities with karyotype; 47,XY,der(7)t(6;7)(pter-p23::p15-->qter),+der(9)t(7;9)(pter-->p15::q21.2--> pter)t(6;7;9)(p23;p15;q21.2)mat[20]. The mother and her phenotypically normal daughter were carriers of a complex chromosomal rearrangement with karyotypes; 46,XX,t(6;7;9)(p23;p15;q21.2)[20]. Paternal chromosomes were normal. In our case the extra derivative chromosome was the result of a 4:2 segregation of the chromosomes involved in translocation during oogenesis. Double partial trisomy in newborns resulting from 4:2 segregation is a rare event, and double partial trisomies of the 6p23-pter and trisomy 9pter-q22 regions have not reported to date.  相似文献

Summary Two patients with trisomy 11p15 and features of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome are reported. The first is a female infant with gigantism, macroglossia, abdominal hypotonia with umbilical hernia, moderate mental retardation, malformative uropathy, and atrial septal defect. Trisomy 11p15 was due to de novo duplication. The second patient was a stillborn (32–33 weeks pregnancy) with an abnormal tongue, posterior diaphragmatic eventration, inner organ congestion mainly of the adrenals. Trisomy 11p15 was due to a t(4;11)(q33;p14)pat. The association of trisomy 11p15 and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome is discussed with regard to cytogenetic data and the gene content of 11p, notably the genes coding for insulin and predisposition to Wilms tumour.  相似文献

We report on a 29-year-old male patient with an inverted 7(q35-qter) duplication diagnosed by combining cytogenetic and FISH studies. Traditional G-banding detected an abnormally long chromosome 7 which was further demonstrated to be entirely of chromosome 7 origin by using fluorescent whole chromosome 7 painting. The presence within the additional segment of a signal for 7q36 region (Williams control probe) and the absence of signals for 7q33 (Y938G5 probe) and 7q34 (Y815G5 probe) regions indicated that the breakpoint for this rearrangement was distal to 7q34 and proximal to 7q36. A distal 7p22 deletion was confirmed by the absence of signal for the 7p subtelomeric probe. Apart from kyphosis, developmental/mental retardation and abnormal ears, the clinical features of the present patient, who is the oldest individual ever reported with this duplication/deletion, were not typical for partial 7q trisomy syndrome. A review of the cases reported with 7(q35-qter) duplication is made and shows important clinical variability but constantly normal pre- and postnatal growth, a feature which can therefore be confirmed as distinctive of distal 7q trisomy syndrome.  相似文献

Summary A patient with pure trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 17 in 60% of the examined cells is reported. She presented a variant chromosome 1 with partial pericentric inversion and increased centromeric heterochromatin in one chromosome 17. The cytogenetic findings are discussed. The clinical findings are compared to those found in other reported cases of partial trisomy 17 and a delineation of a pure trisomy 17p attempted.  相似文献
