Turkeys are hypertensive compared to mammals of similar size. In vitro synthesis of thrombocyte thromboxane B2 (TxB2), 12L-hydroxy-5,8,10 heptadecatrienoic acid (HHT), 12L-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (HETE) and aortic prostaglandin (PG) production was studied in one to ten month old domestic white turkeys. Compared to normal human platelets, TxB2 production was increased (55.4 vs. 31.4%) and HETE production was markedly reduced (6.5 vs. 34.6%) in control thrombocytes. Similar to human platelets in which cyclooxygenase inhibition with aspirin results in an increase in HETE production, block of the thrombocyte enzyme with aspirin doubled the production of HETE. In vitro conversion of radiolabeled arachidonic acid (AA) showed that the primary PG produced by turkey aorta was PGE2. A 6-keto immunoreactive PG was present which comigrated with authentic 6-keto PGF1 alpha, but failure of the aortic supernatant to inhibit adenosine diphosphate or AA induced platelet aggregation suggested that PGI2 was not produced. The vasodepressor potency of PGE1, PGE2 and PGI2 was altered in awake turkeys with PGE1 and PGE2 having five times the hypotensive effect as PGI2. In addition, conversion of AA to PGE2 by aorta in one month turkeys was greater (17.3 vs. 9.2%) than in ten month old turkeys. Systemic arterial pressure was increased in the ten month old turkeys (188 mmHg) compared to one month old turkeys (143 mmHg). Thus, both vascular AA metabolism and the vasodepressor potencies of PGE2 and PGI2 are altered and the activity of the lipoxygenase pathway in thrombocytes is limited in the turkey.  相似文献

A quantitative autoradiographic study was performed to determine whether kinin receptors are altered in the rat spinal cord in an experimental model of arterial hypertension under antioxidant therapy with alpha-lipoic acid. Sprague-Dawley rats were fed for 4 weeks with a normal chow diet or with an alpha-lipoic acid supplemented diet (1000 mg/kg feed), and treated for the last 2 weeks with angiotensin II (AT II) (200 ng/kg/min with an osmotic pump implanted s.c.). Control rats received either diet but not AT II. A 2-week administration of AT II increased significantly systolic blood pressure, the production of superoxide anion in the aorta and B1 receptor binding sites in the thoracic spinal dorsal horn. This treatment did not affect spinal B2 receptor binding sites, glycemia and insulinemia. The diet supplemented with alpha-lipoic acid reduced significantly the increase in systolic blood pressure, the production of aortic superoxide anion and prevented the increases of B1 receptor binding sites. Results show an association between the oxidative stress and the increases of B1 receptors and arterial blood pressure induced by AT II. Data also exclude the possibility that arterial hypertension is a primary mechanism leading to an increase of B2 receptor binding sites in the rat spinal cord.  相似文献

Wave intensity in the ascending aorta: effects of arterial occlusion   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
We examine the effects of arterial occlusion on the pressure, velocity and the reflected waves in the ascending aorta using wave intensity analysis. In 11 anaesthetised, open-chested dogs, snares were used to produce total arterial occlusion at 4 sites: the upper descending aorta at the level of the aortic valve (thoracic); the lower thoracic aorta at the level of the diaphragm (diaphragm); the abdominal aorta between the renal arteries (abdominal) and the left iliac artery, 2 cm downstream from the aorta iliac bifurcation (iliac). Pressure and flow in the ascending aorta were measured, and data were collected before and during the occlusion. During thoracic and diaphragm occlusions a significant increase in mean aortic pressure (46% and 23%) and in wave speed (25% and 10%) was observed, while mean flow rate decreased significantly (23% and 17%). Also, the reflected compression wave arrived significantly earlier (45% and 15%) and its peak intensity was significantly greater (257% and 125%), all compared with control. Aortic occlusion distal to the renal arteries, however, caused an indiscernible change in the pressure and velocity waveforms, and in the intensities and timing of the waves in the forward and backward directions. The measured pressure and velocity waveforms are the result of the interaction between the heart and the arterial system. The separated pressure, velocity and wave intensity are required to provide information about arterial hemodynamic such as the timing and magnitude of the forward and backward waves. The net wave intensity is simpler to calculate but provides information only about the predominant direction of the waves and can be misleading when forward and backward waves of comparable magnitudes are present simultaneously.  相似文献

目的改良大鼠心肌缺血再灌注模型的构建方法,增强实用性。方法32只SD雄性大鼠随机分为四组(A组:伪手术组;B组:缺血组;C组:缺血30 min再灌注组;D组:缺血60 min再灌注组)。缺血过程在人工机械通气条件下完成,术前术中监测心电图变化,模型成功72 h后抽血进行心肌酶谱分析,并观察左室压变化。结果造模成功率为91%。B、C、D组各心肌酶含量明显高于A组(P〈0.05),C、D组低于B组(P〈0.05)。B、C、D组左室压值低于A组(P〈0.05),C、D组高于B组(P〈0.05)。结论改进后的模型制备方法简便易行,成功率高,评价指标符合临床应用。  相似文献

The influence of timing and magnitude of arterial wave reflection (WR) on afterload-dependent relaxation was evaluated in patients with a variety of heart diseases (group 1, age < 30 yr; group 2, age > 40 yr) and in dogs. While both femoral arteries were compressed (FC), WR returned just after the dicrotic notch (early diastole) in group 1 but before the dicrotic notch (late systole) in group 2. The time constant of the left ventricular pressure decay (tau) was shortened during FC in group 1, whereas it was prolonged in group 2. In dogs, a constriction of the thoracic aorta induced a late systolic augmentation of WR with a prolongation of tau (cf. group 2), whereas constriction of the lower abdominal aorta induced an early diastolic augmentation of WR with a shortening of tau (cf. group 1). With aortic constriction, coronary flow increased, and there was a close correlation between the peak change in backward aortic pressure and that in coronary flow regardless of the timing of WR. Thus the time at which WR returns during the cardiac cycle may have an important effect on left ventricular relaxation and coronary flow.  相似文献

The systemic and inotropic properties of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) were investigated in 20 unanesthetized dogs. Pairs of ultrasonic dimension gauges and a micromanometer were implanted in the subendocardium and the apex of the left ventricle (LV), respectively. Seven to ten days later, increasing doses of PGE1 were infused into the left atrium. To appreciate the inotropic effects of the agent, the heart rate was maintained constant at 150 beats/min in a subgroup of dogs while preload was modified by bleeding or saline infusion over matched ranges of end-diastolic segmental length (EDL) during placebo and PGE1 infusions (0.25 microgram . kg-1 . min-1). LV function curves (delta L: systolic segmental shortening versus EDL) were plotted. Increasing doses of PGE1 above 0.031 microgram . kg-1 . min-1 brought a progressive decrease of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure, EDL, delta L, and peak left ventricular systolic pressure. The heart rate increased significantly at dosages from 0.063 to 0.125 microgram . kg-1 . min-1, and peak positive dP/dt after an initial increase fell at the dose of 0.5 microgram . kg-1 . min-1. The LV function curves invariably showed a shift to the left when PGE1 was administered; as the basal EDL was restored during PGE1 infusion, delta L reached a 33% increase (p less than 0.001). Thus, in addition to its potent vasodilating properties that are more prominent on preload than afterload, PGE1 increases myocardial contractility in the conscious dog.  相似文献

The present study evaluates the effect of dipyridamole and pentoxifylline, individually and in combination, on PGI2-like production and arachidonic acid metabolism of rat aorta "in vitro". Pentoxifylline 100 microM and dipyridamole 92 and 184 microM increased PGI2-like activity, as measured by the platelet aggregation inhibitory capacity of the aortic ring incubates, by 71%, 46% and 60% respectively; a greater increase in PGI2-like activity was observed with the combination of the drugs than when they were used separately. This effect was observed even at the lowest doses assayed. In fact, dipyridamole 9.2 microM plus pentoxifylline 1 microM increased the PGI2-like activity by 30% while the individual increase was 4.5% and 10.6% respectively. To obtain more information on the effect of the dipyridamole-pentoxifylline combination on arachidonic acid metabolism, arteries were incubated with (1-14C) arachidonic acid, and the 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and PGE2 quantified. Dipyridamole 92 microM plus pentoxifylline 1 and 10 microM increased 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and PGE2 production by about 30% and 48% respectively while the combination with pentoxifylline 100 microM increased the 6-keto-PGF1 alpha 76.5% and the PGE2 50%. The possible biological effect and therapeutic implications of increased PGI2 production by the arteries due to the dipyridamole-pentoxifylline combination remains to be ascertained.  相似文献

目的:探究老年高血压患者颈动脉内膜中膜厚度(IMT)与动态血压参数间的相关关系,为老年高血压患者的临床治疗提供理论基础。方法:选取2015年1月至2016年1月在我院接受治疗的老年高血压患者204例,根据超声检查结果分为A、B、C三组,每组68例。24 h无创检测患者动态血压参数,包括24h平均收缩压(24h SBP),24 h平均舒张压(24h DBP)、白天平均收缩压(d SBP)、白天平均舒张压(d DBP)、夜间平均收缩压(n SBP)、夜间平均舒张压(n DBP),24h脉压(24h PP)及白天脉压(d PP)、夜间脉压(n PP),记录冠心病的发生率、杓型与非杓型高血压比例,利用Person相关性分析IMT与冠心病发生率及动态血压参数的相关性。结果:收缩压和脉压比较差异均有统计学意义(P0.05),其中B组、C组高于A组,C组高于B组,差异具有统计学意义(P0.05)。非杓型高血压在A组占54.41%,B组占60.29%,C组占79.41%,各组间差异有统计学意义(P0.05);A组、B组、C组冠心病发病率分别为41.18%、54.41%和91.18%,组间比较差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。IMT同冠心病发生率和24h SBP、d SBP、n SBP、24h PP、d PP、n PP呈正相关(r=0.876,0.448,0.378,0.476,0.443,0.491,0.438,P0.05)。结论:老年高血压患者收缩压,脉压升高以及非杓型高血压是造成颈动脉内膜中膜厚度增加的主要原因,同时,IMT与冠心病发病率和动态血压参数间呈正相关关系。  相似文献

The aorta plays a major role in the cardiovascular system and its function and structure are primarily affected by aging, eating habits, life style and other cardiovascular risk factors, inducing increased stiffness which is associated with cardiovascular and cerebral morbi-mortality. Our objective was to develop and validate a robust subject-specific one-dimensional wave propagation numerical model of the descending aorta. This model with a cross-sectional area, velocity and pressure formulation is built using geometric and hemodynamic data measured on a specific person and is validated against in vivo data acquired on the same subject at three distinct anatomical locations along the thoracic aorta. We studied seven healthy volunteers, who underwent carotid applanation tonometry and aortic cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). Responses of our model in terms of changes in central pressure waveform with arterial alterations were consistent with previously described physiological knowledge. Quantitative validation averaged over the three descending aortic locations and the seven subjects provided low rms errors (given in percentage of the maximal clinical value) between simulated and CMR data, i.e. area: 10±6%, velocity: 11±3%, flow rate: 9±3%. Finally, we also found low rms (5±2%) when comparing simulated pressure in the proximal aortic location against tonometric carotid pressure curves. In conclusion, this simple model performs similar to more complex models of the entire systemic arterial tree at a fraction of the cost, and could be of major usefulness in the non-invasive and local estimation of proximal biomechanical and hemodynamic indices.  相似文献

Stanford type A aortic dissection often rapidly leads to death from aortic rupture. We considered the possibility of introducing a passive counterpulsating damper into the dissected aorta in order to limit the physical stress associated with ventricular ejection and increase the diastolic aorto-ventricular pressure gradient. We conceived a damping device comprising an intravascular balloon connected to an adjustable external reservoir to regulate the air pressure inside the balloon, and performed a simulation study using a mechanical model of the cardiovascular system, mimicking aortic dissection. When the balloon was completely deflated, the behavior of the aortic pressure signal was typical of low-compliance aortic dissection, as characterized by an augmented maximum systolic value, accentuated diastolic decay, and a very low end-diastolic value. Balloon inflation (at incremental steps to 90 mmHg) progressively restored the aorto-ventricular pressure gradient and reduced peak systolic pressure values, leading to progressive improvements in the characteristics of the aortic pressure curve in terms of reduction in the maximum systolic value and slower diastolic decay. The proposed mechanism might exert beneficial effects at two levels: (1) directly, by reducing mechanical stress on the arterial wall; (2) indirectly, by allowing safer use of pharmaceutical agents (beta-blockers etc.). In vivo animal simulation studies are warranted to verify the effects of the device and optimize balloon shape and volume in a realistic pathophysiological setting.  相似文献

Chickens (males more than females) have higher blood pressure (BP) than most mammals and spontaneously develop vascular neointimal plaques (NP) and diffuse subendothelial thickening in the lower segment of the abdominal aorta (AbA, referred to as 'NP-prone area') that partly resemble atherosclerotic lesions in mammals. NP areas, which are larger in males, have a causal relationship with incremental increases in BP during maturation. We hypothesize that decreased wall distensibility and altered hemodynamic forces at the NP-prone area may contribute to the NP formation. We measured pressure pulse wave (PW) and systolic and diastolic BP along the descending aorta in anesthetized chickens at different ages using an intravascular microtip transducer and calculated pulse pressure (PP) as an indicator for artery distensibility. At all ages examined and in both sexes, the PW showed a sharper peak at the more peripheral locations and the amplitude of the PW increased as it descended the aorta. PP, expressed as relative increases from the PP in the aortic arch (%), was 40.4+/-12.6 and 71.4+/-18.6 at the AbA and ischiadic artery, respectively, in young males (24-27 weeks); 23.5+/-8.6 and 43.8+/-16.2 in adults (72-75 weeks); and 5.4+/-3.4 and 9.1+/-4.9 in chicks (5-7 weeks). Location-dependent increases in PP were significantly higher in young males (P<0.05). The PP increases in females were not different among the three age groups. The contour of the PW in the proximal aorta changes in older birds, exhibiting steeper increases in the ascending and descending limbs, suggesting that faster wave reflection from the periphery augments peak systolic pressure. NP was most frequently seen in the lower segment of the abdominal aorta in older males. These results suggest that: (1) site-dependent increases in PP amplitude are marked in young males, possibly reflecting a reduction in arterial wall elasticity enhanced by incremental rises in BP, and (2) NP formation may contribute to the stiffness of aortic walls in the NP-prone area.  相似文献

目的:探讨单侧外固定架对不同部位胫腓骨严重开放性骨折的临床治疗效果及关节恢复功能情况。方法:回顾性分析我院自2013年1月至2015年1月共收治胫腓骨严重开放骨折行单侧外固定术治疗患者,根据骨折部位的不同将所有病例分为三组,A组12例,为胫腓骨近端骨折或波及膝关节,固定时需要跨膝关节固定,B组30例,为胫腓骨中段骨折,固定时不跨关节,C组18例,为胫腓骨远端骨折或波及踝关节,固定时需跨踝关节固定。分别对其进行单侧外固定架手术治疗,术后对所有患者骨折愈合情况及膝、踝关节活动度统计,对比观察各组手术疗效。结果:所有手术均获得成功,无不良事件发生,A组下肢功能优良率为83.3%;B组为96.7%;C组为83.3%。下肢功能恢复情况B组与A、C组相比差异具有统计学意义(P0.05),A组与C组相比差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。A组膝、踝关节功能恢复优良率分别为膝66.7%,踝91.7%;B组为膝93.3%,踝96.7%;C组为膝94.4%,踝72.2%。膝关节功能恢复情况A组与B、C组相比差异具有统计学意义(P0.05),B组与C组相比差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。踝关节功能恢复情况C组与A、B组相比差异具有统计学意义(P0.05),A组与B组相比差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。结论:单侧外固定架对不同部位胫腓骨严重开放性骨折的治疗效果良好,关节恢复情况满意,值得临床推广。  相似文献

Increased aortic pulse-wave velocity (PWV) reflects increased arterial stiffness and is a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk in chronic kidney disease (CKD). We examined functional and structural correlations among PWV, aortic calcification, and vascular remodeling in a rodent model of CKD, the Lewis polycystic kidney (LPK) rat. Hemodynamic parameters and beat-to-beat aortic PWV were recorded in urethane-anesthetized animals [12-wk-old hypertensive female LPK rats (n = 5)] before the onset of end-stage renal disease and their age- and sex-matched normotensive controls (Lewis, n = 6). Animals were euthanized, and the aorta was collected to measure calcium content by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. A separate cohort of animals (n = 5/group) were anesthetized with pentobarbitone sodium and pressure perfused with formalin, and the aorta was collected for histomorphometry, which allowed calculation of aortic wall thickness, medial cross-sectional area (MCSA), elastic modulus (EM), and wall stress (WS), size and density of smooth muscle nuclei, and relative content of lamellae, interlamellae elastin, and collagen. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) and PWV were significantly greater in the LPK compared with Lewis (72 and 33%, respectively) animals. The LPK group had 6.8-fold greater aortic calcification, 38% greater aortic MCSA, 56% greater EM/WS, 13% greater aortic wall thickness, 21% smaller smooth muscle cell area, and 20% less elastin density with no difference in collagen fiber density. These findings demonstrate vascular remodeling and increased calcification with a functional increase in PWV and therefore aortic stiffness in hypertensive LPK rats.  相似文献

This experimental study was performed to explore hemodynamic effects of a moderate dose epinephrine (Epi) during hypothermia and to test the hypothesis whether sympathetic stimulation during cooling affects myocardial function following rewarming. Two groups of male Wistar rats (each, n=7) were cooled to 15 degrees C, maintained at this temperature for 1 h, and then rewarmed. Group 1 received 1 microg/min Epi, i.v., for 1 h during cooling to 28 degrees C, a dose known to elevate cardiac output (CO) by approximately 25% at 37 degrees C. Group 2 served a saline solution control. At 37 degrees C, Epi infusion elevated CO, left ventricular systolic pressure, maximum rate of left ventricle pressure rise, and mean arterial pressure. During cooling to 28 degrees C, these variables, with the exception of mean arterial pressure, decreased in parallel to those in the saline solution group. In contrast, in the Epi group, mean arterial pressure remained increased and total peripheral resistance was significantly elevated at 28 degrees C. Compared with corresponding prehypothermic values, most hemodynamic variables were lowered after 1 h at 15 degrees C in both groups (except for stroke volume). After rewarming, alterations in hemodynamic variables in the Epi-treated group were more prominent than in saline solution controls. Thus, before cooling, continuous Epi infusion predominantly stimulates myocardial mechanical function, materialized as elevation of CO, left ventricular systolic pressure, and maximum rate of left ventricle pressure rise. Cooling, on the other hand, apparently eradicates central hemodynamic effects of Epi and during stable hypothermia, elevation of peripheral vascular vasopressor effects seem to take over. In contrast to temperature-matched, non-Epi stimulated control rats, a significant depression of myocardial mechanical function occurs during rewarming following a moderate sympathetic stimulus during initial cooling.  相似文献

Sixty patients underwent surgery due to abdominal aortic aneurysms; the group included 30 patients with asymptomatic aneurysm and 30 with ruptured aneurysm. A control group comprised 30 organ donors. Surgical specimens derived from aneurysm or aorta fragments were investigated for Chlamydia pneumoniae DNA using PCR. In asymptomatic aneurysms, DNA was found in 9 cases (29%), and in ruptured aneurysms in 14 cases (49%). In the control group, C. pneumoniae DNA was not detected in an aortic wall. These results suggest that healthy aortic wall is not susceptible to chlamydial infection. A large number of aneurysm infections implies C. pneumoniae role in proteolysis and degradation of the aneurysm wall. The biological effect of this process may cause an enlargement of the aneurysm.  相似文献

目的:研究微量元素锶对幼年自发性高血压大鼠(Spontaneously hypertensive rats,SHR)血压升高的预防作用并探讨其作用机制。方法:107只自发性高血压大鼠适应性喂养1周后,随机分为A组纯水对照组22只、B组锶水浓度3mg/L组22只、C组锶水浓度9mg/L组19只、D组锶水浓度18mg/L组22只,E组锶水浓度36mg/L组22只,普通饲料喂养12周。实验开始时测定基础血压,至结束时共测十次血压。实验开始及结束采血两次,检测肝、肾功能,Elisa法检测血清内皮素-1(endothelin-1,ET-1)、肾素(renin)、血管紧张素I(Iangiotensin-II)及去甲肾上腺素(noradrenalin,NA),免疫组化法检测主动脉核因子κB(nuclear factor-kappa B,NF-κB)、血管细胞黏附分子-1(vascular cell adhesion molecule-1,VCAM-1)、细胞间黏附分子-1(intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1,ICAM-1)的表达。结果:(1)SHR成年后,E组与A组相比表现出血压下降趋势(P<0.05);第十、十一、十二周时D、E组血压均显著低于A组(P<0.01);B、C组较A组也有不同程度下降;随锶水浓度增高血压呈逐渐下降的大体趋势,B-E组血压值低于A组(P<0.05,P<0.01);(2)锶水喂养后各组肝、肾功能指标及ET-1、renin、Ang-II、NA变化无明显差异(P>0.05);(3)锶水喂养后,B-E组主动脉NF-κB、VCAM-1;ICAM-1的积分光密度值(IOD)均显著低于A组(P<0.01),且随锶水浓度增高,NF-κB、VCAM-1、ICAM-1的表达呈递减趋势(P<0.01)。结论:微量元素锶可延缓SHR血压升高,减小血压波动,其对高血压的预防作用机制可能是由于抑制NF-κB经典通路,减少VCAM-1、ICAM-1等炎症介质的产生而减轻血管壁损害。  相似文献

The potentialities of roentgeno-endovascular dilation (RED) of various types of coarctation and aortic stenoses were studied in 12 patients aged 9 to 27. RED was performed by two Grüntzig's catheters with balloons not less than 7 mm in diameter. The main criterion of RED efficacy was a gradient of systolic pressure which was on the decrease by 25-40 mm Hg after using one catheter, and by 40-70 mm Hg after using both catheters. The same method was applied to dilation of stenosis of the abdominal aorta. The proposed method is low invasive and most effective in patients with aortic segmentation of segmental type, and makes it possible to avoid in many cases surgical intervention.  相似文献

目的:研究不同浓度罗哌卡因复合右美托咪定在肛肠疾病日间手术中的麻醉效果。方法:选取2016年5月~2018年5月期间于我院行肛肠疾病日间手术的患者123例为研究对象。根据随机数字表将患者分成A、B、C三组,每组各41例,其中A组麻醉时注入右美托咪定复合0.375%罗哌卡因20 m L,B组麻醉时注入右美托咪定复合0.5%罗哌卡因20 m L,C组注入右美托咪定复合0.75%罗哌卡因20 m L。比较三组患者麻醉后镇痛效果,比较三组麻醉前、麻醉30 min后的呼吸循环指标,比较三组患者感觉神经、运动神经阻滞情况,记录三组患者术后不良反应发生情况。结果:B组、C组镇痛优良率显著高于A组(P0.05),但B组、C组镇痛优良率组间比较差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。三组患者麻醉前、麻醉30 min后心率(HR)、收缩压(SBP)、舒张压(DBP)、血氧饱和度(SPO2)整体比较差异均无统计学意义(P0.05)。B组、C组感觉神经阻滞起效时间均较A组短,且C组短于B组(P0.05),而B组、C组感觉神经阻滞持续时间均较长,且C组长于B组(P0.05);B组、C组Bromage评分1分人数均较A组少,且C组少于B组(P0.05),B组、C组Bromage评分2分人数均较A组多,但C组较B组少(P0.05),C组Bromage评分3分人数较A组和B组多(P0.05),三组Bromage评分4分人数整体比较差异均无统计学意义(P0.05)。C组患者术后不良反应总发生率高于A组、B组(P0.05),但A组、B组不良反应总发生率组间比较差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。结论:0.5%、0.75%罗哌卡因复合右美托咪定应用于肛肠疾病日间手术的镇痛效果、麻醉效果优于0.375%罗哌卡因复合右美托咪定,但是0.75%罗哌卡因复合右美托咪定的不良反应发生率偏高,0.5%罗哌卡因复合右美托咪定是肛肠疾病日间手术中更为合适的麻醉方案。  相似文献

Brachial artery and central aortic pressures were compared in 50 consecutive patients subjected to retrograde left heart catheterization in order to re-emphasize the fact that the two pressures are not necessarily identical. In 43 cases the systemic systolic pressure peaks exceeded those in the central aorta while in seven these pressures were equal. The average pressure difference was 22.6 mm. Hg. The greatest differences occurred in cases of aortic regurgitation and could be extreme, the brachial artery systolic pressure exceeding that in the aorta by more than 100 mm. Hg in some instances. The least differences occurred in cases of aortic stenosis but significant differences occasionally existed, leading to erroneous estimation of valve orifice size if the systemic rather than the aortic systolic pressure was used.  相似文献

This report describes an investigation of the effects of developing hypertension on the synthesis and accumulation of insoluble elastin in the thoracic aorta of young rats. Uninephrectomized male rats were made hypertensive by administration of deoxycorticosterone acetate and addition of 1% NaCl to their drinking water. Divergence of systolic blood pressures between treated and control animals and hypertrophy of the vessel began after about 2 weeks of treatment. Coincident with the appearance of hypertrophy, there was an increased accumulation of insoluble elastin in the aorta and a large increase in the capacity of the aortic tissue to synthesize elastin. However, in spite of continued increases in blood pressure and vessel hypertrophy, this effect on elastin synthesis and accumulation was transient. The results of this study suggest that synthesis of elastin in aortic tissue of young rats is highly sensitive to alterations in blood pressure.  相似文献
