With the rising demand for flexible and wearable electronic devices, flexible power sources with high energy densities are required to provide a sustainable energy supply. Theoretically, rechargeable, flexible Li‐O2/air batteries can provide extremely high specific energy densities; however, the high costs, complex synthetic methods, and inferior mechanical properties of the available flexible cathodes severely limit their practical applications. Herein, inspired by the structure of human blood capillary tissue, this study demonstrates for the first time the in situ growth of interpenetrative hierarchical N‐doped carbon nanotubes on the surface of stainless‐steel mesh (N‐CNTs@SS) for the fabrication of a self‐supporting, flexible electrode with excellent physicochemical properties via a facile and scalable one‐step strategy. Benefitting from the synergistic effects of the high electronic conductivity and stable 3D interconnected conductive network structure, the Li‐O2 batteries obtained with the N‐CNTs@SS cathode exhibit superior electrochemical performance, including a high specific capacity (9299 mA h g?1 at 500 mA g?1), an excellent rate capability, and an exceptional cycle stability (up to 232 cycles). Furthermore, as‐fabricated flexible Li‐air batteries containing the as‐prepared flexible super‐hydrophobic cathode show excellent mechanical properties, stable electrochemical performance, and superior H2O resistibility, which enhance their potential to power flexible and wearable electronic devices.  相似文献

Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) layered nanostructures are known to have very stable crystal structures and high faradaic activity. The low electronic conductivity of V2O5 greatly limits the application of vanadium oxide as electrode materials and requires combining with conducting materials using binders. It is well known that the organic binders can degrade the overall performance of electrode materials and need carefully controlled compositions. In this study, we develop a simple method for preparing freestanding carbon nanotube (CNT)‐V2O5 nanowire (VNW) composite paper electrodes without using binders. Coin cell type (CR2032) supercapacitors are assembled using the nanocomposite paper electrode as the anode and high surface area carbon fiber electrode (Spectracarb 2225) as the cathode. The supercapacitor with CNT‐VNW composite paper electrode exhibits a power density of 5.26 kW Kg?1 and an energy density of 46.3 Wh Kg?1. (Li)VNWs and CNT composite paper electrodes can be fabricated in similar manner and show improved overall performance with a power density of 8.32 kW Kg?1 and an energy density of 65.9 Wh Kg?1. The power and energy density values suggest that such flexible hybrid nanocomposite paper electrodes may be useful for high performance electrochemical supercapacitors.  相似文献

Efficient synthetic methods to produce high‐performance electrode‐active materials are crucial for developing energy storage devices for large‐scale applications, such as hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs). Here, an effective approach to obtain controllable carbon‐encapsulated T‐Nb2O5 nanocrystals (NCs) is presented, based on the solvothermal treatment of NbCl5 in acetophenone. Two separate condensation reactions of acetophenone generate an intimate and homogeneous mixture of Nb2O5 particles and 1,3,5‐triphenylbenzene (TPB), which acts as a unique carbon precursor. The electrochemical performance of the resulting composites as anode electrode materials can be tuned by varying the Nb2O5/TPB ratio. Remarkable performances are achieved for Li‐ion and Na‐ion energy storage systems at high charge–discharge rates (specific capacities of ≈90 mAh g?1 at 100 C rate for lithium and ≈125 mAh g?1 at 20 C for sodium). High energy and power densities are also achieved with Li‐ and Na‐ion HSC devices constructed by using the Nb2O5/C composites as anode and activated carbon (YPF‐50) as cathode, demonstrating the excellent electrochemical properties of the materials synthesized with this approach.  相似文献

It is shown that an electrochemically‐driven oxide overcoating substantially improves the performance of metal electrodes in high‐temperature electrochemical applications. As a case study, Pt thin films are overcoated with (Pr,Ce)O2?δ (PCO) by means of a cathodic electrochemical deposition process that produces nanostructured oxide layers with a high specific surface area and uniform metal coverage and then the coated films are examined as an O2‐electrode for thin‐film‐based solid oxide fuel cells. The combination of excellent conductivity, reactivity, and durability of PCO dramatically improves the oxygen reduction reaction rate while maintaining the nanoscale architecture of PCO layers and thus the performance of the PCO‐coated Pt thin‐film electrodes at high temperatures. As a result, with an oxide coating step lasting only 5 min, the electrode resistance is successfully reduced by more than 1000 times at 500 °C in air. These observations provide a new direction for the design of high‐performance electrodes for high‐temperature electrochemical cells.  相似文献

Nanostructured V2O5 is emerging as a new cathode material for lithium ion batteries for its distinctly high theoretic capacity over the current commercial cathodes. The main challenges associated with nanostructured V2O5 cathodes are structural degradation, instability of the solid‐electrolyte interface layer, and poor electron conductance, which lead to low capacity and rapid decay of cyclic stability. Here, a novel composite structure of V2O5 nanoparticles encapsulated in 3D networked porous carbon matrix coated on carbon fibers (V2O5/3DC‐CFs) is reported that effectively addresses the mentioned problems. Remarkably, the V2O5/3DC‐CF electrode exhibits excellent overall lithium‐storage performance, including high Coulombic efficiency, excellent specific capacity, outstanding cycling stability and rate property. A reversible capacity of ≈183 mA h g?1 is obtained at a high current density of 10 C, and the battery retains 185 mA h g?1 after 5000 cycles, which shows the best cycling stability reported to date among all reported cathodes of lithium ion batteries as per the knowledge. The outstanding overall properties of the V2O5/3DC‐CF composite make it a promising cathode material of lithium ion batteries for the power‐intensive energy storage applications.  相似文献

Nanostructured V2O5 thin films have been prepared by means of cathodic deposition from an aqueous solution made from V2O5 and H2O2 directly on fluorine‐doped tin oxide coated (FTO) glasses followed by annealing at 500°C in air, and studied as film electrodes for lithium ion batteries. XPS results show that the as‐deposited films contained 15% V4+, however after annealing all the vanadium is oxidized to V5+. The crystallinity, surface morphology, and microstructures of the films have been investigated by means of XRD, SEM, and AFM. The V2O5 thin film electrodes show excellent electrochemical properties as cathodes for lithium ion intercalation: a high initial discharge capacity of 402 mA h g?1 and 240 mA h g?1 is retained after over 200 cycles with a discharging rate of 200 mA g?1 (1.3 C). The specific energy density is calculated as 900 W h kg?1 for the 1st cycle and 723 W h kg?1 for the 180th cycle when the films are tested at 200 mA g?1 (1.3 C). When discharge/charge is carried out at a high current density of 10.5 A g?1 (70 C), the thin film electrodes retain a good discharge capacity of 120 mA h g?1, and the specific power density is over 28 kW kg?1.  相似文献

Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising porous precursors for the construction of various functional materials for high‐performance electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Herein, a facile two‐step solution method to rational design of a novel electrode of hollow NiCo2O4 nanowall arrays on flexible carbon cloth substrate is reported. Uniform 2D cobalt‐based wall‐like MOFs are first synthesized via a solution reaction, and then the 2D solid nanowall arrays are converted into hollow and porous NiCo2O4 nanostructures through an ion‐exchange and etching process with an additional annealing treatment. The as‐obtained NiCo2O4 nanostructure arrays can provide rich reaction sites and short ion diffusion path. When evaluated as a flexible electrode material for supercapacitor, the as‐fabricated NiCo2O4 nanowall electrode shows remarkable electrochemical performance with excellent rate capability and long cycle life. In addition, the hollow NiCo2O4 nanowall electrode exhibits promising electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction. This work provides an example of rational design of hollow nanostructured metal oxide arrays with high electrochemical performance and mechanical flexibility, holding great potential for future flexible multifunctional electronic devices.  相似文献

High energy density Li‐ion hybrid flow capacitors are demonstrated by employing LiMn2O4 and activated carbon slurry electrodes. Compared to the existing aqueous flow electrochemical capacitors, the hybrid one exhibits much higher energy densities due to the introduction of high capacity Li‐insertion materials (e.g., LiMn2O4 in the present work) as the flowable electrode with asymmetrical cell configuration. A record energy density, i.e., 23.4 W h kg?1 at a power of 50.0 W kg?1 has been achieved for aqueous flow capacitors tested at static condition reported to date. A full operational Li‐ion flow capacitor tested in an intermittent‐flow mode has also been demonstrated. The Li‐ion hybrid flow capacitor shows great promise for high‐rate grid applications.  相似文献

Achieving high‐performance Na‐ion capacitors (NICs) has the particular challenge of matching both capacity and kinetics between the anode and cathode. Here a high‐power NIC full device constructed from 2D metal–organic framework (MOFs) array is reported as the reactive template. The MOF array is converted to N‐doped mesoporous carbon nanosheets (mp‐CNSs), which are then uniformly encapsulated with VO2 and Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) nanoparticles as the electroactive materials. By this method, the high‐power performance of the battery materials is enabled to be enhanced significantly. It is discovered that such hybrid NVP@mp‐CNSs array can render ultrahigh rate capability (up to 200 C, equivalent to discharge within 18 s) and superior cycle performance, which outperforms all NVP‐based Na‐ion battery cathodes reported so far. A quasi‐solid‐state flexible NIC based on the NVP@mp‐CNSs cathode and the VO2@mp‐CNSs anode is further assembled. This hybrid NIC device delivers both high energy density and power density as well as a good cycle stability (78% retention after 2000 cycles at 1 A g?1). The results demonstrate the powerfulness of MOF arrays as the reactor for fabricating electrode materials.  相似文献

Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) has played important roles in lithium‐ion batteries due to its unique crystalline structure. To assist researchers understanding the roles this material plays, a comprehensive and critical review is conducted based on about 250 publications. Here, we report basics and applications of micro‐ and nano‐materials of V2O5 and V2O5‐based composites. The comparative and statistical analysis leads to the discovery of several interesting phenomena. The V2O5 electrodes with two lithium ions have a favorable capacity performance with reversible phase formation. The excellent capacity retention is displayed in the V2O5 electrodes with one lithium ion inserted. In the case of three lithium ions insertion, it was found that the irreversible formation of the phase ω in LixV2O5 leads to its control. In addition, effects of additives on electrode performance, circuitry models of performance, as well as reaction routes are studied. Two unprecedented concepts of the “high capacity band” and “empirical total capacity retention” are proposed though the comprehensive statistical analysis of the reviewed data. This review provides a comprehensive collection of information of state‐of‐the‐art and recent advancement in V2O5 and V2O5‐based composite materials for electrodes. Researchers could use the information to design and develop advanced electrodes for future batteries.  相似文献

The symmetric batteries with an electrode material possessing dual cathodic and anodic properties are regarded as an ideal battery configuration because of their distinctive advantages over the asymmetric batteries in terms of fabrication process, cost, and safety concerns. However, the development of high‐performance symmetric batteries is highly challenging due to the limited availability of suitable symmetric electrode materials with such properties of highly reversible capacity. Herein, a triple‐hollow‐shell structured V2O5 (THS‐V2O5) symmetric electrode material with a reversible capacity of >400 mAh g?1 between 1.5 and 4.0 V and >600 mAh g?1 between 0.1 and 3.0 V, respectively, when used as the cathode and anode, is reported. The THS‐V2O5 electrodes assembled symmetric full lithium‐ion battery (LIB) exhibits a reversible capacity of ≈290 mAh g?1 between 2 and 4.0 V, the best performed symmetric energy storage systems reported to date. The unique triple‐shell structured electrode makes the symmetric LIB possessing very high initial coulombic efficiency (94.2%), outstanding cycling stability (with 94% capacity retained after 1000 cycles), and excellent rate performance (over 140 mAh g?1 at 1000 mA g?1). The demonstrated approach in this work leaps forward the symmetric LIB performance and paves a way to develop high‐performance symmetric battery electrode materials.  相似文献

High‐performance flexible energy‐storage devices have great potential as power sources for wearable electronics. One major limitation to the realization of these applications is the lack of flexible electrodes with excellent mechanical and electrochemical properties. Currently employed batteries and supercapacitors are mainly based on electrodes that are not flexible enough for these purposes. Here, a three‐dimensionally interconnected hybrid hydrogel system based on carbon nanotube (CNT)‐conductive polymer network architecture is reported for high‐performance flexible lithium ion battery electrodes. Unlike previously reported conducting polymers (e.g., polyaniline, polypyrrole, polythiophene), which are mechanically fragile and incompatible with aqueous solution processing, this interpenetrating network of the CNT‐conducting polymer hydrogel exibits good mechanical properties, high conductivity, and facile ion transport, leading to facile electrode kinetics and high strain tolerance during electrode volume change. A high‐rate capability for TiO2 and high cycling stability for SiNP electrodes are reported. Typically, the flexible TiO2 electrodes achieved a capacity of 76 mAh g–1 in 40 s of charge/discharge and a high areal capacity of 2.2 mAh cm–2 can be obtained for flexible SiNP‐based electrodes at 0.1C rate. This simple yet efficient solution process is promising for the fabrication of a variety of high performance flexible electrodes.  相似文献

The high‐capacity cathode material V2O5·n H2O has attracted considerable attention for metal ion batteries due to the multielectron redox reaction during electrochemical processes. It has an expanded layer structure, which can host large ions or multivalent ions. However, structural instability and poor electronic and ionic conductivities greatly handicap its application. Here, in cell tests, self‐assembly V2O5·n H2O nanoflakes shows excellent electrochemical performance with either monovalent or multivalent cation intercalation. They are directly grown on a 3D conductive stainless steel mesh substrate via a simple and green hydrothermal method. Well‐layered nanoflakes are obtained after heat treatment at 300 °C (V2O5·0.3H2O). Nanoflakes with ultrathin flower petals deliver a stable capacity of 250 mA h g?1 in a Li‐ion cell, 110 mA h g?1 in a Na‐ion cell, and 80 mA h g?1 in an Al‐ion cell in their respective potential ranges (2.0–4.0 V for Li and Na‐ion batteries and 0.1–2.5 V for Al‐ion battery) after 100 cycles.  相似文献

Trees have an abundant network of channels for the multiphase transport of water, ions, and nutrients. Recent studies have revealed that multiphase transport of ions, oxygen (O2) gas, and electrons also plays a fundamental role in lithium–oxygen (Li–O2) batteries. The similarity in transport behavior of both systems is the inspiration for the development of Li–O2 batteries from natural wood featuring noncompetitive and continuous individual pathways for ions, O2, and electrons. Using a delignification treatment and a subsequent carbon nanotube/Ru nanoparticle coating process, one is able to convert a rigid and electrically insulating wood membrane into a flexible and electrically conductive material. The resulting cell walls are comprised of cellulose nanofibers with abundant nanopores, which are ideal for Li+ ion transport, whereas the unperturbed wood lumina act as a pathway for O2 gas transport. The noncompetitive triple pathway design endows the wood‐based cathode with a low overpotential of 0.85 V at 100 mA g?1, a record‐high areal capacity of 67.2 mAh cm?2, a long cycling life of 220 cycles, and superior electrochemical and mechanical stability. The integration of such excellent electrochemical performance, outstanding mechanical flexibility, and renewable yet cost‐effective starting materials via a nature‐inspired design opens new opportunities for developing portable energy storage devices.  相似文献

With the development of flexible electronics, flexible lithium ion batteries (LIBs) have received great attention. Previously, almost all reported flexible components had shortcomings related to poor mechanical flexibility, low energy density, and poor safety, which led to the failure of scalable applications. This study demonstrates a fully flexible lithium ion battery using LiCoO2 as the cathode, Li4Ti5O12 as the anode, and graphene film as the flexible current collector. The graphene oxide modified gel polymer electrolyte exhibits higher ionic conductivity than a conventional liquid electrolyte and improves the safety of the flexible battery. The optimum design of the flexible graphene battery exhibits super electrochemical performance, with a 2.3 V output voltage plateau and a satisfactory capacity of 143.0 mAh g?1 at 1 C. The mass energy density and power density are both ≈1.4 times higher than a standard electrode using metal foils as current collectors. No capacity loss is observed after 100 thousand cycles of mechanical bending. More importantly, even in the clipping state, this flexible gel polymer battery can still demonstrate a stable and safe electrochemical performance. This work may lead to a promising strategy of high‐performance scalable LIBs for the next‐generation flexible electronics.  相似文献

Less‐defective graphene oxide sheets with a small average size of 0.7 µm are electrochemically reduced to form a hydrogel film with highly oriented porous structure. It is applied as the electrode of organic electrochemical capacitor (OEC) after solvent change with organic electrolyte and deep reduction in this organic medium. At 120 Hz, the typical OEC exhibits a high areal specific energy density of 472 µF V2 cm?2 with a wide workable voltage window of 2.5 V, a phase angle of ?80.5°, a resistor‐capacitor time constant (τRC) of 0.219 ms, and an excellent electrochemical stability. Thus, it is promising to replace aluminum electrolytic capacitors for AC line filtering. Furthermore, two identical OECs connected in series keep the performance of single device, making them practically applicable in electronics.  相似文献

Aqueous Ni/Fe batteries have great potential as flexible energy storage devices, owing to their low cost, low toxicity, high safety, and high energy density. However, the poor cycling stability has limited the widely expected application of Ni/Fe batteries, while the use of heavy metal substrates cannot meet the basic requirement for flexible devices. In this work, a flexible type of solid‐state Ni/Fe batteries with high energy and power densities is rationally developed using needle‐like Fe3O4 and flake‐like NiO directly grown on carbon cloth/carbon nanofiber (CC–CF) matrix as the anode and cathode, respectively. The hierarchical CC–CF substrate with high electric conductivity and good flexibility serves as an ideal support for guest active materials of nanocrystalline Fe3O4 and NiO, which can effectively buffer the volume change giving rise to good cycling ability. By utilizing a gel electrolyte, a robust and mechanically flexible quasi‐solid‐state Ni/Fe full cell can be assembled. It demonstrates optimal electrochemical performance, such as high energy density (5.2 mWh cm?3 and 94.5 Wh Kg?1), high power density (0.64 W cm?3 and 11.8 KW Kg?1), together with excellent cycling ability. This work provides an example of solid‐state alkaline battery with high electrochemical performance and mechanical flexibility, holding great potential for future flexible electronic devices.  相似文献

Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) has excellent electrochemical stability and fast ion diffusion coefficient due to the 3D Na+ ion superionic conductor framework, which make it an attractive cathode material for lithium ion batteries (LIBs). However, the electrochemical performance of NVP needs to be further improved for applications in electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. Here, nanoflake‐assembled hierarchical NVP/C microflowers are synthesized using a facile method. The structure of as‐synthesized materials enhances the electrochemical performance by improving the electron conductivity, increasing electrode–electrolyte contact area, and shortening the diffusion distance. The as‐synthesized material exhibits a high capacity (230 mAh g?1), excellent cycling stability (83.6% of the initial capacity is retained after 5000 cycles), and remarkable rate performance (91 C) in hybrid LIBs. Meanwhile, the hybrid LIBs with the structure of NVP || 1 m LiPF6/EC (ethylene carbonate) + DMC (dimethyl carbonate) || NVP and Li4Ti5O12 || 1 m LiPF6/EC + DMC || NVP are assembled and display capacities of 79 and 73 mAh g?1, respectively. The insertion/extraction mechanism of NVP is systematically investigated, based on in situ X‐ray diffraction. The superior electrochemical performance, the design of hybrid LIBs, and the insertion/extraction mechanism investigation will have profound implications for developing safe and stable, high‐energy, and high‐power LIBs.  相似文献

Conjugated polymers with high electrical conductivities are attractive for applications in capacitors, biosensors, organic thermoelectrics, and transparent electrodes. Here, a series of solution processable dioxythiophene copolymers based on 3,4‐propylenedioxythiophene (ProDOT) and 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) is investigated as thermoelectric and transparent electrode materials. Through structural manipulation of the polymer repeat unit, the conductivity of the polymers upon oxidative solution doping is tuned from 1 × 10?3 to 3 S cm?1, with a polymer consisting of a solubilizing alkylated ProDOT unit and an electron‐rich biEDOT unit (referred to as PE2) showing the highest electrical conductivity. Optimization of the film casting method and screening of dopants result in AgPF6‐doped PE2 achieving a high electrical conductivity of over 250 S cm?1 and a thermoelectric power factor of 7 μW m?1 K?2. Oxidized spray cast films of PE2 are also assessed as a transparent electrode material for use with another electrochromic polymer. This bilayer shows reversible electrochemical switching from a colored charge‐neutral state to a highly transmissive color‐neutral, oxidized state. These results demonstrate that dioxythiophene‐based copolymers are a promising class of materials, with ProDOT–biEDOT serving as a soluble analog to the well‐studied PEDOT as a p‐type thermoelectric and electrode material.  相似文献

A facile and binder‐free method is developed for the in situ and horizontal growth of ultrathin mesoporous Co3O4 layers on the surface of carbon fibers in the carbon cloth (ultrathin Co3O4/CC) as high‐performance air electrode for the flexible Zn–air battery. In particular, the ultrathin Co3O4 layers have a maximum contact area on the conductive support, facilitating the rapid electron transport and preventing the aggregation of ultrathin layers. The ultrathin feature of Co3O4 layers is characterized by the transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectra, and X‐ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy. Benefiting from the high utilization degree of active materials and rapid charge transport, the mass activity for oxygen reduction and evolution reactions of the ultrathin Co3O4/CC electrode is more than 10 times higher than that of the carbon cloth loaded with commercial Co3O4 nanoparticles. Compared to the commercial Co3O4/CC electrode, the flexible Zn–air battery using ultrathin Co3O4/CC electrode exhibits excellent rechargeable performance and high mechanical stability. Furthermore, the flexible Zn–air battery is integrated with a flexible display unit. The whole integrated device can operate without obvious performance degradation under serious deformation and even during the cutting process, which makes it highly promising for wearable and roll‐up optoelectronics.  相似文献
