In recent years, tremendous research effort has been aimed at increasing the energy density of supercapacitors without sacrificing high power capability so that they reach the levels achieved in batteries and at lowering fabrication costs. For this purpose, two important problems have to be solved: first, it is critical to develop ways to design high performance electrode materials for supercapacitors; second, it is necessary to achieve controllably assembled supercapacitor types (such as symmetric capacitors including double‐layer and pseudo‐capacitors, asymmetric capacitors, and Li‐ion capacitors). The explosive growth of research in this field makes this review timely. Recent progress in the research and development of high performance electrode materials and high‐energy supercapacitors is summarized. Several key issues for improving the energy densities of supercapacitors and some mutual relationships among various effecting parameters are reviewed, and challenges and perspectives in this exciting field are also discussed. This provides fundamental insight into supercapacitors and offers an important guideline for future design of advanced next‐generation supercapacitors for industrial and consumer applications.  相似文献

稳定同位素技术可以用于消费者营养溯源,以确定多种营养来源对消费者营养的贡献比重。因此,稳定同位素质量平衡混合模型已经是消费者营养溯源分析的必要方法之一。通常使用贝叶斯混合模型来估计不同营养来源的贡献;此类模型提供了每个营养来源对消费者的贡献比例的概率分布特征。然而,混合模型拟合结果的好坏,及其与实际生态学理论的匹配水平,是模型性能的重要评价内容。例如,模型在不能很好地解析营养来源贡献时,仍将返回默认先验结果,给模型解释带来困难。为直接避免同位素构建消费者营养溯源分析中的诸多技术问题,文章将综述在拟合和评估贝叶斯混合模型时遵循的最佳实践。因此,文章基于实测的同位素数据集(蒙古鲌Culter mongolicus mongolicus同位素数据集),通过识别消费者营养功能类群特征、改变营养来源先验信息特征,构建系列贝叶斯模型;通过比较模型总体性能、实测值与预测值差异,及先验信息和后验信息差异等多种模型性能评价方法,来描述模型性能评价的方法和过程。通过这些方法的综合运用,将进一步提高消费者营养溯源准确性,为更深刻地认识食物网规律提供科学支撑。  相似文献

Wingtip slots,where the outer primary feathers of birds split and spread vertically,are regarded as an evolved favorable feature that could effectively improve their aerodynamic performance.They have inspired many to perform experiments and simulations as well as to relate their results to aircraft design.This paper aims to provide guidance for the research on the aerodynamic mechanism of wingtip slots.Following a review of previous wingtip slot research,four imperfections are put forward:vacancies in research content,inconsistencies in research conclusions,limitations of early research methods,and shortage of the aerodynamic mechanism analysis.On this basis,further explorations and expansion of the influence factors for steady state are needed;more attention should be poured into the application of flow field integration method to decom-pose drag,and evaluation of variation in induced drag seems a more rational choice.Geometric and kinematic parameters of wingtip slot structure in the unsteady state,as well as the flexibility of wingtips,should be taken into account.As for the aerodynamic mechanism of wingtip slots,the emphasis can be placed on the study of the formation,development,and evolution of wingtip vortices on slotted wings.Besides,some research strategies and feasibility analyses are proposed for each part of the research.  相似文献

Pedigree data can be evaluated, and subsequently corrected, by analysis of the distribution of genetic markers, taking account of the possibility of mistyping . Using a model of pedigree error developed previously, we obtained the maximum likelihood estimates of error parameters in pedigree data from Tokelau. Posterior probabilities for the possible true relationships in each family are conditional on the putative relationships and the marker data are calculated using the parameter estimates. These probabilities are used as a basis for discriminating between pedigree error and genetic marker errors in families where inconsistencies have been observed. When applied to the Tokelau data and compared with the results of retyping inconsistent families, these statistical procedures are able to discriminate between pedigree and marker error, with approximately 90% accuracy, for families with two or more offspring. The large proportion of inconsistencies inferred to be due to marker error (61%) indicates the importance of discriminating between error sources when judging the reliability of putative relationship data. Application of our model of pedigree error has proved to be an efficient way of determining and subsequently correcting sources of error in extensive pedigree data collected in large surveys.  相似文献

This paper discribes a series of experiments to illustrate the use of various methods of time series analysis in the delineation of the effects of circadian and ultradian cycles on human performance. These experiments are concerned with measures of both human performance and physiology. They illustrate how the parameters of these time series analytic techniques can be used to postulate physiological mechanisms where time-dependent changes have been shown to be significant. The use of analytic techniques in both the time and frequency domain is illustrated.  相似文献

The last decade has seen lots of studies on ‘animal personality’ (i.e. the study of consistent between‐individual behavioural differences). As timely and promising as this field is, its development has come with a diversity of research questions. As an unfortunate consequence, it now suffers from substantial confusion about what ‘animal personality’ is, and how relevant related research frameworks are. Here, we stress the current inconsistencies and sources of confusion pertaining to the field, and their consequences on terminology used and miscommunication between researchers. In an attempt to unravel and clarify the concepts underlying the field, we identify two distinct, but complementary, theory‐driven conceptual frameworks: the intra‐individual variability (IIV) approach and the life‐history (LH) approach, which we believe encompass the vast majority of existing ‘personality studies’. Finally, we argue in favour of theory‐driven studies of consistent behavioural differences and state that the integrative statistical properties of random regression models should not override the merit of alternative conceptual frameworks. We then provide brief guidelines and warnings for a parsimonious and sound use of terminology.  相似文献

Despite substantial research activity on bioreactor design and experiments, there are very few reports of modelling tools that can be used to generate predictive models describing how bioreactor parameters affect performance. New developments in mathematics, such as sparse Bayesian feature selection methods and nonlinear model-free modelling regression methods, offer considerable promise for modelling diverse types of data. The utility of these mathematical tools in stem cell biology are demonstrated by analysis of a large set of bioreactor data derived from the literature. In spite of the diversity of the data sources, and the inherent difficulty in representing bioreactor variables, these modelling methods were able to develop robust, quantitative, predictive models. These models relate bioreactor operational parameters to the degree of expansion of haematopoietic stem cells or their progenitors, and also identify the bioreactor variables that are most likely to affect performance across many experiments. These methods show substantial promise in assisting the design and optimisation of stem cell bioreactors.  相似文献

Protein complexes play a dominant role in cellular organization and function. Prediction of protein complexes from the network of physical interactions between proteins (PPI networks) has thus become one of the important research areas. Recently, many computational approaches have been developed to identify these complexes. Various performance assessment measures have been proposed for evaluating the efficiency of these methods. However, there are many inconsistencies in the definitions and usage of the measures across the literature. To address this issue, we have gathered and presented the most important performance evaluation measures and developed a tool, named CompEvaluator, to critically assess the protein complex prediction methods. Recent supercapacitors show a high power density with long‐term cycle life time in energy‐powering applications. A supercapacitor based on a single metal electrode accompanying multivalent cations, multiple charging/discharging kinetics, and high electrical conductivity is a promising energy‐storing system that replaces conventionally used oxide and sulfide materials. Here, a hierarchically nanostructured 2D‐Zn metal electrode‐ion supercapacitor (ZIC) is reported which significantly enhances the ion diffusion ability and overall energy storage performance. Those nanostructures can also be successfully plated on various flat‐type and fiber‐type current collectors by a controlled electroplating method. The ZIC exhibits excellent pseudocapacitive performance with a high energy density of 208 W h kg?1 and a power density from 500 W kg?1, which are significantly higher than those of previously reported supercapacitors with oxide and sulfide materials. Furthermore, the fiber‐type ZIC also shows high energy‐storing performance, outstanding mechanical flexibility, and waterproof characteristics, without any significant capacitance degradation during bending tests. These results highlight the promising possibility of nanostructured 2D Zn metal electrodes with the controlled electroplating method for future energy storage applications.  相似文献

Miniaturization of energy storage devices with enhanced performance metrics can reduce the footprint of microdevices being used in our daily life. Micro‐­supercapacitor architectures with planar geometry provides several advantages, such as, the ability to control and reduce the distances ions travel between two electrodes, easy integration to microdevices, and offer the potential of being extended into 3D without compromising the interelectrode distances. Here, focused ion beam (FIB) technology is used to directly write miniaturized planar electrode systems of reduced graphene oxide (FIB‐rGO) on films of graphene oxide. Using optimized ion beam irradiation, interdigitated FIB‐rGO electrode designs with 40 μm long and 3.5 μm wide fingers with ultrasmall interelectrode spacing of 1 μm demonstrate a large capacitance (102 mF cm?2), ultrasmall time response (0.03 ms), low equivalent series resistance (0.35 mΩ cm2), and retain 95% of the capacitance after 1000 cycles at an ultrahigh current density of 45 mA cm?2. These performance metrics show remarkable improvements on several counts of supercapacitor performance over existing reports due to the miniaturized electrode dimensions and minimal damage to the graphene sheets. It is believed that these results can provide avenues for large‐scale fabrication of arrayed, planar, high‐performance micro‐supercapacitors with a small environmental footprint.  相似文献

Supercapacitors or electrochemical capacitors, as energy storage devices, require very stable positive electrode materials for useful applications. Although most positive electrodes are based on crystalline mixed‐metal hydroxides, their pseudocapacitors usually perform poorly or have a short cycle life. High activities can be achieved with amorphous phases. Methods to produce amorphous materials are also not typically amenable towards mixed‐metal compositions. It is demonstrated that electrochemistry in an ambient environment can be used to produce a series of amorphous mixed‐metal hydroxides with a homogeneous distribution of metals for use as positive electrode materials in a supercapacitor. The integrated performance of the amorphous ternary mixed‐metal hydroxide pseudocapacitor is superior to that of crystalline materials. The amorphous Ni‐Co‐Fe hydroxide supercapacitor is characterized by a long‐term cycling stability that retained 94% of its capacity after 20 000 cycles. This is much higher than the cycle life of crystalline devices. These results show the broad applicability of this methodology towards new electrode materials for high‐performance supercapacitors, especially amorphous mixed‐metal hydroxides, as advanced electrode materials.  相似文献

Heat-pulse methods to determine sap flux density in trees are founded on the theory of heat conduction and heat convection in an isotropic medium. However, sapwood is clearly anisotropic, implying a difference in thermal conductivity along and across the grain, and hence necessitates the theory for an anisotropic medium. This difference in thermal conductivities, which can be up to 50%, is, however, not taken into account in the key equation leading to the currently available heat-pulse methods. Despite this major flaw, the methods remain theoretically correct as they are based on derivations of the key equation, ruling out any anisotropic aspects. The importance of specifying the thermal characteristics of the sapwood according to axial, tangential or radial direction is revealed as well as referring to and using the proper anisotropic theory in order to avoid confusion and misinterpretation of thermal properties when dealing with sap flux density measurements or erroneous results when modelling heat transport in sapwood.  相似文献

A supercapacitor is usually stacked in the configuration of a layered sandwiched architecture, and has been adopted as discrete energy storage device or circuit component. However, this stacked structure decreases mechanical integrity, leads to low specific capacity, and prevents high‐density monolithic integration. Here all‐in‐one supercapacitors are fabricated by integrating cathode, anode, current collector, and separator into one monolithic glass fiber (GF) substrate together with other circuit components through matured and scalable fabrication techniques, the all‐in‐one supercapacitor is embedded as a component for 3D electronics. This all‐in‐one architecture demonstrates its effectiveness in the prevention of the delamination of the sandwiched supercapacitor and the minimization of the proportion of inactive materials. The supercapacitor delivers high power density (320 mW cm?3) and energy density (2.12 mWh cm?3), and exhibits a capacitance retention of 100% even after a continuous cycling of 431 h. Furthermore, a 3D polydimethylsiloxane/GF architecture is constructed for driving a flash light emitting diode system, where the all‐in‐one supercapacitor is monolithically integrated in the 3D system, and each layer is connected via vertical through‐holes. This all‐in‐one device can be constructed with a macroscopically available membrane and readily integrated into 3D systems without secondary packaging, providing the potential for high‐density heterogeneous 3D electronics.  相似文献

Bacteriophage are frequently used as biotracers to identify the source of water pollutants. Genetic manipulation of bacteriophage M13mp18 has been used to enhance this technique by creating a library in which each recombinant bacteriophage genome contains a unique identification sequence. Techniques that identify a recombinant bacteriophage by the presence of the identification sequence, including polymerase chain reaction, restriction site polymorphism and plaque hybridization, have been developed. Recombinant bacteriophage can be used to test a large number of suspected sources simultaneously. The identification sequence also eliminates confusion with natural bacteriophage present in water samples. The performance of the modified bacteriophage and the techniques were assessed in simulated field trials on a restricted site carried out under a consent for environmental release of a genetically modified organism. The techniques were also field tested at sites in northwest England using wild-type M13 bacteriophage.  相似文献

Fabrication of DNA microarray demands that between ten (diagnostic microarrays) and many hundred thousands of probes (research or screening microarrays) are efficiently immobilised to a glass or plastic surface using a suitable chemistry. DNA microarray performance is measured by parameters like array geometry, spot density, spot characteristics (morphology, probe density and hybridised density), background, specificity and sensitivity. At least 13 factors affect these parameters and factors affecting fabrication of microarrays are used in this review to compare different fabrication methods (spotted microarrays and in situ synthesis of microarrays) and immobilisation chemistries.  相似文献

Numerous algorithms have been developed to analyze ChIP-Seq data. However, the complexity of analyzing diverse patterns of ChIP-Seq signals, especially for epigenetic marks, still calls for the development of new algorithms and objective comparisons of existing methods. We developed Qeseq, an algorithm to detect regions of increased ChIP read density relative to background. Qeseq employs critical novel elements, such as iterative recalibration and neighbor joining of reads to identify enriched regions of any length. To objectively assess its performance relative to other 14 ChIP-Seq peak finders, we designed a novel protocol based on Validation Discriminant Analysis (VDA) to optimally select validation sites and generated two validation datasets, which are the most comprehensive to date for algorithmic benchmarking of key epigenetic marks. In addition, we systematically explored a total of 315 diverse parameter configurations from these algorithms and found that typically optimal parameters in one dataset do not generalize to other datasets. Nevertheless, default parameters show the most stable performance, suggesting that they should be used. This study also provides a reproducible and generalizable methodology for unbiased comparative analysis of high-throughput sequencing tools that can facilitate future algorithmic development.  相似文献

The purpose of many wildlife population studies is to estimate density, movement, or demographic parameters. Linking these parameters to covariates, such as habitat features, provides additional ecological insight and can be used to make predictions for management purposes. Line‐transect surveys, combined with distance sampling methods, are often used to estimate density at discrete points in time, whereas capture–recapture methods are used to estimate movement and other demographic parameters. Recently, open population spatial capture–recapture models have been developed, which simultaneously estimate density and demographic parameters, but have been made available only for data collected from a fixed array of detectors and have not incorporated the effects of habitat covariates. We developed a spatial capture–recapture model that can be applied to line‐transect survey data by modeling detection probability in a manner analogous to distance sampling. We extend this model to a) estimate demographic parameters using an open population framework and b) model variation in density and space use as a function of habitat covariates. The model is illustrated using simulated data and aerial line‐transect survey data for North Atlantic right whales in the southeastern United States, which also demonstrates the ability to integrate data from multiple survey platforms and accommodate differences between strata or demographic groups. When individuals detected from line‐transect surveys can be uniquely identified, our model can be used to simultaneously make inference on factors that influence spatial and temporal variation in density, movement, and population dynamics.  相似文献

The spectral analysis of birth statistics, expressed in monthly rates, shows a strong periodic component even if a single child is born every day of the year. This is, of course, due to the different number of days per month. Most human or animal statistics as well as agricultural and biometeorological variables are only available as monthly, and not daily rates or values. If spectral components of time series are of interest, it is necessary to normalize monthly rates. This necessity has been a pre-analytical routine for quite some time, and various methods of normalization are described in the literature (1,3,7): the rates are either expressed as the daily mean within a month or as rates of normalized months with 31, 30 or 30.4 days (the latter results in a 365-day year). Each of the different methods leads to the same result, if the analysis can be based on relative deviations from the mean.

In the majority of the statistical material, the chosen method of normalization is clearly stated. But if a study tries to cover many different statistical populations and as many years as possible, the statistical material is often based on several (partly secondary) sources and photocopied extracts from large volumes. This can lead to confusion whether the used statistics contain normalized or crude original monthly rates.  相似文献

Primate census techniques have been developed over the past 35–40 years yet there is still some confusion and great variation in the methods used. This precludes comparisons between sites where different techniques have been used. This paper discusses the variations between the methods that seem to be practiced currently and then describes a census of primates in the forests of western Uganda. Primate density and biomass varied greatly between forests as well as within forests and this is probably related to food availability. Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) density was strongly correlated with nest encounter rates from reconnaissance walks in the forest. This result can be used to estimate chimpanzee density in forests where it is difficult to survey this species (e.g., due to security reasons). A total of 4,980 chimpanzee was estimated for Uganda which is higher than previously guessed, but still of conservation concern. Only four forests had more than 500 individuals which gives concern for long-term population viability.  相似文献
