Abstract The anthers are tetrasporangiate. The anther wall comprises epidermis, fibrous endothecium, middle layer and tapetal layer. The tapetum is of the Glandular type and its cells remain uninucleate. Meiosis in pollen mother cells is normal and simultaneous cytokinesis leads to the formation of tetrahedral and decussate microspore tetrads. The pollen grains are shed at 2-celled stage. The ovule is campylotropous, bitegmic and crassinucellate. Meiosis in megaspore mother cell results in the formation of linear or occasionally T-shaped megaspore tetrad. The chalazal megaspore develops into Monosporic Polygonum type of embryo sac. Endosperm development is of the Nuclear type. 相似文献

A comparison of Dichodontium flavescens (Dicks.) Lindb. and D. pellucidum (Hedw.) Lindb. (Bryopsida)
《Journal of bryology》2013,35(3):215-221
AbstractFifty-three herbarium samples of the genus Dichodontium, originating from 15 countries in Europe and North America, were examined to critically assess new distinguishing characters between D. flavescens and D. pellucidum. The examination, including SEM, revealed some new characteristics in the gametophyte, notably leaf shape, leaf length: width ratio, and width of the nerve, permitting accurate determinations even on sterile material. D. flavescens is recognized here as a distinct species. 相似文献

Pollen analyses were made of 54 commercial Louisiana (U.S.A.) honeys collected during 1967–1968. Fifty-eight different pollen types were identified. A direct correlation was assumed between a plant's pollen quantity and its nectar contribution. On this basis, the major Louisiana honey plants that were determined are: Fabaceae, predominantly Trifolium repens (99%), Rubus, Berchemia scandens, and Salix. Plants established as important for their nectar contributions in isolated samples are: Cephalanthus occidentalis, Sapium sebiferum, miscellaneous Compositae (Asteraceae), Glycine max, and Parthenocissus quinquefolia. Native plants such as Rubus, Berchemia scandens, and Salix contribute more to Louisiana's honey sources than do cultivated plants or introduced plants. Most samples originated from six to fifteen different plant types and thus do not appear to be of particularly diverse botanical origin. The pollen types that indicate late spring, summer, or fall honeys include: Glycine max, Cassia fasciculata, Polygonum, Lagerstroemia indica, Lythrum, Ampelopsis, Trachelospermum difforme, and others. Thirty-one samples could be considered unifloral honeys. Most Louisiana honeys were a clear color and from nectar of flowers and not honeydew.

A protocol was developed for micropropagation of Mandevilla moricandiana (A.DC.) Woodson, a native plant from Brazil. Shoots, obtained from in vitro plantlets were used as source of nodal segments for shoot production from axillary buds. The nodal segments were grown on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with different concentrations of 6-benzyladenine and/or indole-3-acetic acid to induce axillary bud elongation. After a 2-mo culture period, the medium supplemented with 1.0 mg?L?1 6-benzyladenine gave the largest number of nodal segments per explant. The nodal segments obtained from plants developed under these conditions were grown on medium supplemented with different concentrations indole-3-acetic acid, ??-naphthaleneacetic acid, and indole-3-butyric acid. The use of the medium supplemented with indole-3-acetic acid and indole-3-buryric induced shoot elongation and shoot development, formation of basal callus, and/or indirect organogenesis of roots. Following transfer of shoots to soil, the plants with only basal callus showed 10% survival and developed roots from callus, while in vitro-rooted plants had a maximum 40% survival rate ex vitro. Regardless of the auxin added to the rooting medium, the acclimatization period allowed the plants rooted in vitro to develop their shoots fully. The protocol developed here is suitable for the production of shoots and rooted plantlets of M. moricandiana. 相似文献
