Coussarea granvillei (Rubiaceae, Coussareeae), a new species from French Guiana

Coussarea granvillei is newly described and illustrated from material collected in the environs of Mount Galbao, near Saül, French Guiana. This new species is compared toC. amapaensis, for which the morphological and distributional ranges are extended and briefly discussed, and toC. leptophragma andC. revoluta.     

New rubiaceae from French Guiana

Four new species and one new variety of Rubiaceae from French Guiana are described:Psychotria alloantha, P. cypellantha, P. squamelligera, P. viridibractea, andSipanea ovalifolia var.villosissima.     

Two new species of Myrsinaceae from French Guiana

Herbarium studies leading to a treatment of the Myrsinaceae for the Flora of Central French Guiana resulted in the discovery of two heretofore undescribed species,Cybianthus prevostiae andStylogyne incognita. The species are described and illustrated, and hypotheses regarding phylogenetic relationships with their respective congeners are provided.Cybianthus prevostiae is unusual among members ofCybianthus subgen.Weigeltia owing to its monoaxial habit and ellipsoid pistil, and deeply cupuliform calyx.Stylogyne incognita, a taxon often confused withS. micrantha, is most closely related toS. sordida but is separated from it by the corymbose inflorescence, entire leaves, longer petioles, and membranaceous perianth.     

Two new species of Lauraceae from central French Guiana

Aiouea opaca andBeilschmiedia hexanthera, recently collected in central French Guiana, are described and illustrated.     

New species ofRelbunium (Rubiaceae) from Brazil,with notes on flavonoid and peroxidase patterns

Three new species ofRelbunium, R. humilioides, R. catarinense, andR. longipedunculatum (Rubiaceae), endemic in the southern states of Brazil, are described. Flavonoid patterns from two-dimensional thin layer chromatography and peroxidase patterns from gel electrophoresis are presented for two of them. The relationships of the new species, their taxonomic position, and their evolutionary significance within the genus are discussed.The Systematics and Evolution of the GenusRelbunium (Rubiaceae), I.     

A new Chlerogelloides from northeastern Brazil and French Guiana, with a key to the species (Hymenoptera, Halictidae)

A third species of the rare augochlorine bee genus Chlerogelloides Engel et al. (Halictinae, Augochlorini) is described and figured. Chlerogelloides nexosasp. n. is most similar to the type species, Chlerogelloides femoralis Engel et al., in that both have modified midlegs in the males. The former, however, can be distinguished on the basis of its terminalia, which in some respects more closely resembles those of Chlerogelloides simplex Engel and Brooks. Brief comments on the secondary features of males and relationships of the genus are provided. A key to the species of the genus is provided and floral records of Cordia nodosa Lam. (Boraginaceae) and Gonzalagunia dicocca Cham. & Schltdl. (Rubiaceae) are noted.     

Four new species of Ixora (Rubiaceae, Ixoreae) from Brazil

Four new species of Ixora (Rubiaceae, Ixoreae) from Brazil are described and illustrated and their relationships to morphologically similar species as well as their conservation status are discussed. The new species, Ixora cabraliensis, Ixora emygdioi, Ixora grazielae, and Ixora pilosostyla are endemic to the Atlantic Forest of southern Bahia and Espirito Santo.     

A new,arborescent species of Byttneria (Sterculiaceae) from French Guiana

Byttneria morii L. Barnett & Dorr from French Guiana is described and illustrated, and its taxonomic affinities are discussed. Also, a key to the species ofByttneria, that occur in the Guianas is provided.     

A new species of Bactris (Palmae) from French Guiana

A new species,Bactris nancibaensis, from French Guiana, is described and illustrated.     

A new species of Remijia (Rubiaceae) from Amazonian Brazil

Remijia hubbardiorum B. M. Boom, endemic to white sandcampinas orerra firme forest in the Rio Uatumã region in the State of Amazonas of north central Brazil, is described and illustrated, and its morphological differentiation with respect toR. asperula Standley is discussed.     

Four new species of Calathea (Marantaceae) from French Guiana

Four new species are described: Calathea erecta, C. dilabens, C. granvillei , and C. squarrosa , based on material from French Guiana. Calathea erecta and C. granvillei are known also from the central Amazon Basin. Calathea squarrosa probably also occurs in Surinam. Calathea dilabens is presently known only from French Guiana, but probably occurs in adjacent Brazil and Surinam. A tentative key is provided to the species of Calathea known to occur in French Guiana.     

Mitracarpus longicalyx (Rubiaceae, Spermacoceae), a new species from northeastern Brazil

Mitracarpus longicalyx is here described and illustrated from sandy areas of the caatingas of northeastern Brazil. The new species is similar toM. hirtus andM. megapotamicus.     

A new species of Ocotea (Lauraceae) from French Guiana

A new species ofOcotea,O. diffusa van der Werff, is described and illustrated based on recent collections from French Guiana and adjacent Brazil.     

A new species of Asterogyne (Palmae) from French Guiana

Asterogyne guianensis, a new species from French Guiana, is described and illustrated. The differences between this and the morphologically similarA. spicata are given. A map and discussion of distribution is given for all five species of the genus. Studies on the Flora of the Guianas number 28.     

Peperomia gracieana (Piperaceae), a new species from French Guiana

Peperomia gracieana is newly described and illustrated, and differences from other morphologically similar species ofPeperomia are discussed.     

Humicolous buthoid scorpions: a new genus and species from French Guiana

A new genus and species of humicolous buthid scorpion are described on the basis of a single specimen collected in French Guyana. New considerations on the taxonomy and morphology of some micro-buthoid humicolous scorpions are proposed, mainly based on the study by scanning electron microscopy of the peg-shaped sensillae of the pectines.     

Paullinia lingulata (Sapindaceae), a new species from French Guiana

The new species Paullinia lingulata from French Guiana is described, illustrated, and compared with a vegetatively similar species found in French Guiana.     

Vantanea ovicarpa (Humiriaceae), a new species from French Guiana

Vantanea ovicarpa, a new species from French Guiana, is described and illustrated.
