The trilobite genus Huemacaspis P?IBYL and VANěK, 1980 is redescribed from well-preserved material from the Santa Gertrudis Formation (early Caradoc), Argentine Cordillera Oriental. The new species H. gallinatoensis is described and figured. Huemacaspis is widely distributed in the southern part of the Central Andean basin during the early Caradoc and it is a key taxon for the correlation of different units from the Cordillera Oriental and Sierras Subandinas of Argentina and the Cordillera Oriental of Bolivia. This taxon is one of the few records of trilobites of early Caradoc age found in the shallow shelf environments of southwestern Gondwana. Huemacaspis is accommodated within the Kerfornellinae, a subfamily otherwise known from southern Central Europe and northern Africa. The trilobite fauna from the early Caradoc of the Central Andean basin suggests a faunal exchange with the latter regions indicating the persistence of a broadly similar biogeographic pattern to that documented in earlier Ordovician times.  相似文献

The Hungshihyen Formation represents the Lower to Middle Ordovician near-shore siliciclastic deposits on the western margin of the Yangtze Platform, South China. However, its age is still debated, largely because of insufficient studies. Here we documented the Bursachitina maotaiensisB. qianbeiensis chitinozoan assemblage from the lower part of the Hungshihyen Formation at Songliang, Qiaojia County, eastern Yunnan Province. This assemblage is remarkably similar to an assemblage that roughly correlates to the middle part of the Corymobograptus deflexus graptolite Biozone in northern Guizhou Province, indicating that the Hungshihyen Formation at Songliang is probably of late Floian age and may extend into the early Dapingian. Additionally, a revision on the chitinozoans previously documented from the strata assigned to the same formation in the Wuding area was made according to the latest classification. The revision allows the recognition of the Euconochitina symmetricaEremochitina brevis assemblage, and therefore suggests a late Tremadocian age for this interval based on regional and global chitinozoan biostratigraphic correlations. Considering also its lithologic succession, we argue that the chitinozoan-bearing strata in the Wuding area previously assigned to the Hungshihyen Formation correspond most likely to the uppermost part of the underlying Tangchi Formation or the lowermost part of the Hungshihyen Formation. The base of the Hungshihyen Formation appears therefore to be diachronous in eastern Yunnan Province.  相似文献

A multivariate analysis was used to determine the faunistic relationships of the northwestern Argentinean graptolite faunas of Floian age to faunas from Baltica, Avalonia, Laurentia and SW China. A statistical analysis at the species level of the five geographic regions for the Lower Floian was performed with the classic Jaccard's index. The resulting affinity dendrogram shows stronger relationships between Early Floian graptolite faunas of northwestern Argentina and those from Baltica, with less obvious similarities to Great Britain (Avalonia) faunas and only weak affinities to North American (Laurentia) and Chinese (SW China) graptolite faunas. The statistical analysis confirms the paleobiogeographic relationships previously observed in other areas of the Cordillera Oriental, and supports the hypothesis that during the Early Ordovician, northwestern Argentina was located at middle to high latitudes, corresponding to the Atlantic Faunal Realm of cold water graptolite biofacies. The studied graptolite material from the Quinilicán and Agua Chica sections is preserved in shales and siltstones interbedded with fine to medium-grained sandstones corresponding to the lower part of the Acoite Formation. The biostratigraphic implications of the associated graptolites are briefly discussed, and Trichograptus dilaceratus (Herrmann), Acrograptus gracilis (Törnquist), Expansograptus latus (T.S. Hall) and Corymbograptus v-fractus tullbergi (Monsen) are described from the Argentine Cordillera Oriental for the first time.  相似文献

The oldest known estuarine bivalve assemblage is documented from the Lower Ordovician (upper Arenig-lower Llanvirn) Alto del Cóndor Formation, which crops out in the Cordillera Oriental of northwestern Argentina. This unit displays most of the diagnostic sedimentary attributes of estuarine environments. Biotic components include low-diversity trace fossils and a peculiar bivalve fauna consisting of the new genera Konduria, Pseudoredonia, and Pucamya, and the new species Redonia condorensis. This constitutes the earliest known occurrence of bivalves in brackish waters, suggesting that the capability of this clade to colonize estuarine environments developed early in their radiation.  相似文献

We analyse new paleoecological data from South American graptolite records to understand the patterns that influence the space-tempo distribution of the group. A cluster analysis including taxa from the Baltograptus cf. B. deflexus and Didymograptellus bifidus Zones is carried out to evaluate the paleogeographic relationships between north-western Argentina and the other regions in the world. Three different biofacies were recognised in the Acoite Formation. The first biofacies takes place in the lower part of the unit, corresponding to pelitic levels (Tetragraptus phyllograptoides and Tetragraptus akzharensis Zones), and it is represented by pandemic forms. The other two biofacies belong to the endemic or neritic shallow water environments, and develop in deposits corresponding to the middle part of the Acoite Formation (bottom of the Baltograptus cf. B. deflexus Zone) in the Sierra de Aguilar, and in the upper half of the unit exposed in the Los Colorados area (D. bifidus Zone), respectively. The statistical analysis highlight the paleobiogeographic relationship between north-western Argentina and south-western China during the middle-upper Floian (Baltograptus cf. B. deflexus and D. bifidus Zones), and it supports the hypothesis that during the Early Ordovician north-western Argentina was located in the middle to high latitudes, included in the cold water faunal realm.  相似文献

下、中奥陶统紫台组以紫红色泥质灰岩、瘤状泥质灰岩为特征,具有稳定的空间分布范围,沿扬子台地东南缘呈条带状分布,与扬子台地上发育的湄潭组、大湾组等大致同期。作者研究了安徽石台栗阳柳树亭剖面紫台组的牙形刺,共描述19属23种,识别出四个牙形刺带,从下至上分别是Oepikodus evae带、Baltoniodus triangularis带、Baltoniodus navis带和Paroistodus originalis带,并可与同期笔石带对比。除扬子区外,紫台组还可与欧洲、阿根廷前科迪勒拉等地区的同期地层对比。  相似文献

The oldest occurrences of the monothalamous foraminifer species Amphitremoida longa Nestell and Tolmacheva and A. laevis Nestell and Tolmacheva are found in the San Juan Formation together with conodonts of the Oepikodus evae Zone of the Floian (Lower Ordovician), in the Salagasta 2 section, southern Precordillera, Argentina. These discoveries represent the oldest record for foraminifers in South America. The foraminifers, species of which were originally described from the Lower Ordovician of northwestern Russia, are found in shallow high energy carbonate platform deposits in the Precordillera, together with a North Atlantic province conodont fauna. The carbonate sequence of the San Juan Formation in the Salagasta region is interpreted as a succession ranging from shallower tidal deposits to carbonate crinoidal shoaling bar deposits.  相似文献

Palynomorph assemblages have been recovered from deposits believed to straddle the Ordovician/Silurian boundary, from the upper member of the Salar del Rincón Formation, in the Puna region of north-west Argentina. The palynomorph assemblages are dominated by terrestrial cryptospores, but also contain marine elements (acritarchs, prasinophycean algae and chitinozoans). The cryptospore assemblages are similar in composition to those described from coeval deposits worldwide, suggesting that the producers were cosmopolitan and tolerated a wide range of climatic conditions. They are correlated with the Imperfectotriletes spp. Interval Biozone (sub-biozone α) of the Imperfectotriletes spp.- Laevolancis divellomedia Assemblage Biozone, indicating a Hirnantian (latest Ordovician) age. Acritarchs include late Ordovician species such as Eupoikilosusa striata and Villosacapsula cf. setosapellicula , that coexist with the Llandovery species Dactylofusa estillis. Based on lithological and palynological evidence, an early Llandovery, or a late Hirnantian (post-glacial) age is proposed for the basal part of the upper member of the Salar del Rincón Formation.  相似文献

The first radiolarians discovered in the Ordovician of the Argentinian Precordillera are reported. The material is associated with conodonts indicating the upper part of the Lenodus variabilis Biozone (Lower Darriwilian, Da1-2). The low diversity radiolarian fauna shows similarities with Middle Ordovician radiolarians from the Akzhal Mountains of Kazakhstan. However, a close comparison is difficult due to the poor preservation of the material, in which internal structures of the radiolarian tests are not preserved.  相似文献

The Xiazhen Formation is an Upper Ordovician lithostratigraphic unit in the Jiangshan-Changshan-Yushan (JCY) area, which contains series of Late Ordovician reef successions. The reef successions of the Xiazhen Formation at Zhuzhai are critical for evaluation of the Late Ordovician marine diversity and palaeoecology. However, their age has long been uncertain and generally is regarded as of upper Katian, based on the occurrences of shelly fossils and correlation with the stratigraphic equivalent Changwu Formation. The newly discovered graptolite species Anticostia uniformis, in the Xiazhen Formation, together with the combined evidence of brachiopods and sedimentology, indicates an age range for the graptolite locality from the Dicellograptus complanatus Biozone to the Diceratograptus mirus Subzone of late Katian, but the graptolites do not rule out the possibility that it is Hirnantian.  相似文献

The oldest Foliomena fauna was, until now, known from the middle–upper Miaopo Formation (Nemagraptus gracilis Biozone, lower Sandbian, basal Upper Ordovician) of South China. In this study, the oldest record of the fauna is set back to the latest Darriwilian (upper Hustedograptus teretiusculus Biozone), represented by Foliomena jielingensis and some typical constituents of the Foliomena fauna from the basal Miaopo Formation at Jieling, northern Yichang, western Hubei Province, central China. The Miaopo Formation is characterized by its organic‐rich dark‐grey shale facies, unique in its localized distribution on the Yangtze Platform, and distinguished by its rich and diverse benthic and graptolitic faunas. This suggests an origin of the Foliomena fauna in periodically oxygen‐starved local depressions on the Yangtze Platform during the Middle–Late Ordovician transition.  相似文献

Wu, R., Stouge, S. & Wang, Z. 2012: Conodontophorid biodiversification during the Ordovician in South China. Lethaia, Vol. 45, pp. 432–442. Analysis of the Ordovician conodontophorid diversity pattern for South China using normalized and total diversity measures reveals that diversity peaks occurred in the mid‐Tremadocian, mid‐late Floian, early Dapingian and mid‐Darriwilian periods. The conodontophorids radiated during the Floian, maintaining relatively high diversity into the early part of the Middle Ordovician until a significant diversity decrease occurred in the late Dapingian. A relatively low diversity level prevailed in the Late Ordovician. Three diversification intervals based on origination, extinction and turnover rates have been identified i.e. (1) Tremadocian to mid‐late Floian, (2) early Dapingian and (3) late Dapingian to early Darriwilian. Diversity curves for conodontophorids, brachiopods, graptolites, acritarchs and trilobites from South China are comparable during the Early Ordovician, although differences are apparent in the Middle and Late Ordovician. In South China, conodontophorid diversity reacted primarily to sea‐level changes during the Early and Middle Ordovician, when the peak of this biodiversification generally coincided with a transgression. 基于安徽石台栗阳柳树亭下、中奥陶统紫台组牙形刺的系统研究,对该地区早奥陶世弗洛期一中奥陶世大坪期牙形刺多样性演变作了初步分析,发现牙形刺的简单分异度在弗洛晚期Oepikodusevae带达到峰值,有17属20种。之后,牙形刺分异度呈下降趋势。演变的总体趋势与湖北宜昌地区同期牙形刺的研究结果一致,其峰值出现的时间(Oepikodusevae带,相当于笔石Didymograptellus eobifidus带上部,Corymbograptusdeflexus带,及Azygograptussuecicus带下部)与华南上扬子区腕足动物宏演化趋势(首次峰值出现在Didymograptelluseob—ifidus带)大体相似,但比三叶虫多样性演变在奥陶纪的首次峰值(出现在Exigraptus clavus带)早,比扬子台地笔石多样性演变的首次峰值(在Acrograptusfiliformis带和Didymograptelluseobifidus带下部)晚。分析显示,该地区早、中奥陶世牙形刺多样性演变与海平面变化存在密切关联。  相似文献

A low diversity Lower Ordovician trilobite assemblage is described from the middle part of the Lashkarak Formation at Simeh-Kuh, northwest of Damghan, northern Iran. Co-occurrence with conodonts of the lowermost Paroistodusproteus Biozone suggests an uppermost Tremadocian age. This assemblage includes four taxa, including one new genus and two new species, Damghanampyxginteri nov. gen. nov. sp. and Asaphellusfecundus nov. sp. The third diagnosable species from the formation is Taihungshaniamiqueli (Bergeron, 1894) which has previously been reported from southern France and the Turkish Taurides, suggesting north Gondwanan faunal affinities.  相似文献

The upper Daguanshan Formation (middle Expansograptus hirundo graptolite biozone, Dapingian, early Middle Ordovician) of the Shuanghe area, Changning County, southern Sichuan Province, contains three new genera and species of strophomenoids: Ochyromena plana, Shuangheella elongata, and Primotimena globula, which are attributed to the Strophomenidae, Rafinesquinidae and Glyptomenidae respectively. These are the earliest known strophomenoids from the South China palaeoplate, and also the oldest rafinesquinid and glyptomenid brachiopods worldwide. Global review of the superfamily Strophomenoidea of Middle Ordovician age suggests that the first diversity peak at the species level occurred in late Darriwilian (Llanvirn) time, mainly as a result of the rapid diversification of the family Strophomenidae. The first appearance datum (FAD) of strophomenoids and their possible westward dispersal were from North China (latest Floian) and/or South China (early Dapingian), through the Chu‐Ili terrane of Kazakhstan, Iran, and Baltica (early Darriwilian), to Avalonia and Laurentia (late Darriwilian). This points to the existence of early diversification hotspots of the strophomenoid superfamily in the North and South China palaeoplates during the early Middle Ordovician in generally shallow water (corresponding to BA2) environments. The high degree of similarity in the external morphology and ventral interior of the three new genera indicates that the early diversification of strophomenoids began with differentiation of the cardinalia, especially in the configuration of the bilobed cardinal process, a key evolutionary novelty for the strophomenoids.  相似文献

A new occurrence of the onychochilid mollusc Pelecyogyra is reported from the late Floian Landeyran Formation (Apatokephalus incisus Biozone) in the Montagne Noire, southern France, where it is associated with the two tergomyans Carcassonnella courtessolei and Thoralispira laevis, and a mollusc indet. With a low cap-shaped shell. The Montagne Noire specimens compare morphologically with Pelecyogyra fezouataensis from the late Tremadocian Fezouata Formation (Araneograptus murrayi Biozone) in Morocco and are tentatively referred to this species. Each occurrence of Pelecyogyra is from one or two localities only, but separated in time. They differ further in the deeper facies, association with Carcassonnella and Thoralispira, and non-gregarious occurrence in Montagne Noire compared to the shallower facies, lack of other molluscs and gregarious occurrence in the Fezouata Formation. In the Lower Ordovician, Pelecyogyra, Carcassonnella courtessolei, the rare C. vizcainoi and Thoralispira laevis are taxa that occur only in Montage Noire and the Anti-Atlas, while Lesueurilla prima also occurs in the Prague basin of the Czech Republic. Contrary to other faunal elements, like echinoderms and trilobites, these genera seem to have a wide environmental tolerance and are long ranging taxa. The main occurrence of the three key taxa Carcassonnella, Thoralispira and Lesueurilla in the Montagne Noire is in the lower part of the La Maurerie Formation (Taihungshania miqueli acme Zone), while the same taxa appear just slightly later in Morocco (?Cymatograptus protobalticus Biozone). Migration to the Anti-Atlas during the early Floian seems to have been possible during a period of general faunal exchange. Pelecyogyra may either have migrated from the Anti-Atlas to Montagne Noire during the same interval or possibly during the late Floian as indicated by shared faunal elements between these two regions at that time.  相似文献

A drill core through the Lower Ordovician Tøyen Shale Formation at Lerhamn, NW Scania, southern Sweden, provides important new information for the precise biostratigraphic resolution of the Floian to lower Darriwilian time interval in southern Scandinavia. The Hunnegraptus copiosus, Tetragraptus phyllograptoides, Cymatograptus protobalticus (new), Baltograptus vacillans (new), Baltograptus sp. cf. Baltograptus deflexus (new), Baltograptus minutus (new), Isograptus victoriae, Undulograptus austrodentatus (Arienigraptus zhejiangensis and Undulograptus sinicus Subzones) and the (?)Corymbograptus retroflexus (new) biozones are differentiated in the core and their correlation in Scania is discussed. The Lerhamn drill core provides the most detailed graptolite record of the Floian Stage in Scandinavia. The interval is dominated by a number of species of the genus Baltograptus, endemic to the Atlantic Faunal realm and highly useful for regional biostratigraphic correlation. The biostratigraphic framework is based on endemic and pandemic faunal elements. The mixture of both elements in the drill core allows a more precise inter‐continental correlation of Lower to Middle Ordovician graptolite faunas and may – in the future – provide information as to the climatic history of regions dominated by Baltograptus faunas in the Floian. The acritarch genus Coryphidium Vavrdová, 1972 is one of the most frequently recorded acritarch taxa in the Ordovician. The original diagnoses, stratigraphical ranges and geographical distribution of all Coryphidium species are critically evaluated in a review of published literature supplemented by studies of material from the British Isles, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and China, including sections from type areas. The taxonomic concept of the genus is here rationalized: the genus Coryphidium is emended and the informal category of coryphid acritarchs is introduced to include all morphotypes with the characteristic vesicle shape of the two genera Coryphidium and Vavrdovella Loeblich and Tappan, 1976. Nine of the previously described species can be attributed to the genus, and two other species possibly belong to it. The attribution to Coryphidium of the species C. sichuanense Wang and Chen, 1987 is rejected here. Intraspecific variability is very important and the attribution of Coryphidium specimens at the specific level is sometimes difficult. The genus is found in all palaeoenvironments from nearshore to offshore settings and apparently does not occupy specific palaeoecological niches. Coryphidium is very useful biostratigraphically and palaeobiogeographically. The review indicates that the genus first appears in the uppermost Tremadocian Araneograptus murrayi graptolite Biozone and is common through the upper Lower Ordovician and the Middle Ordovician, while Upper Ordovician occurrences might be the result of reworking. Palaeogeographically, Coryphidium is an indicator of the peri-Gondwanan acritarch “palaeoprovince” during the Early/Middle Ordovician.  相似文献

Benedetto, J.L. 2013: Presence of punctae in the ‘plectorthoidean’ brachiopod Famatinorthis turneri (Middle Ordovician) from western Argentina: implications for early diversification of punctate orthides. Lethaia, Vol. 46, pp. 170–179. Famatinorthis Levy & Nullo is a distinctive orthide brachiopod of Dapingian age from the volcaniclastic rocks of the Famatina Range of western Argentina. Although it was originally classified among the plectorthoideans, a new collection from the La Escondida Formation has yielded exceptionally well‐preserved moulds of Famatinorthis turneri in which silicified infillings of punctae are clearly visible, leading to the reassignment of the genus to the dalmanellidines. In this paper, phylogenetic analyses are used to determine the evolutionary relationships of Famatinorthis, the Tremadocian linoporellid Lipanorthis, and other Ordovician Gondwanan genera. The placement of Plectorthoidea in the same major clade as linoporellids, and the separation of Dalmanellidina as an independent clade are the most important features of all shortest trees, supporting the idea that linoporellids may have originated from a plectorthoid ancestor. Cladistic analysis reveals that Lipanorthis lies close to the ancestry of the linoporellid lineage, and Famatinorthis clusters within the more derived taxa of the clade with which it shares a large septalium. It seems that the presence of endopunctae in the orthides does not necessarily indicate close phylogenetic relationships as it could have occurred at different times in different clades. If the homoplasic nature of endopunctae in the order Orthida is supported by further morphologic and phylogenetic studies, the fundamental division of orthides in non‐punctate (Orthidina) and punctate (Dalmanellidina) may need revision. □Brachiopods, Ordovician, Gondwana, Famatina, phylogeny, punctate orthides.  相似文献

四川东南部长宁双河及其附近地区的中奥陶统上部大沙坝组以特殊的岩相和生物相有别于黔北的可比地层十字铺组和鄂西的牯牛潭组,地层中漂浮相化石(笔石)与底栖壳相化石(如腕足动物和三叶虫)多次交互出现,笔石动物属于上层下垂对笔石动物群(Didymograptus artus Fauna),时代为中奥陶世Darriwilian(相当于Arenig最晚期至Llanvirn)。在所采集的3300余枚化石标本中有近90%是腕足动物化石,经研究共鉴定出19属21种,分属于4目7超科15科,正形贝目和扭月贝目分别有8属,占全部属群的84%。根据属的生物地理分布,该动物群中广布型分子7属、区域性分子6属,仅限于华南的土著性分子占总量的31.6%,显示出此期华南腕足动物群具有较强的地方性色彩,进一步证实中奥陶世海洋生物强分区性的推断。该腕足动物群宜称作Saucrorthis-Glyptorthis动物群。在统计分析的基础上,识别出Saucrorthis-Glyptorthis群落,包括三个以腕足动物占优势的化石群集(association),即Glyptorthis?simplex群集、Saucrorthis obscura群集和Calyptolepta chengkouensis群集,并结合沉积岩石学以及其它共生化石门类进行群落生态分析,认为该群落所生活的环境以正常浅海砂泥质底域为主(相当于BA2-3)。与上扬子台地贵州遵义十字铺组和重庆城口厚坪组两个相近腕足动物群相比,长宁地区中奥陶世的Saucrorthis-Glyptorthis动物群更接近于厚坪组所产者。与世界上其它一些同期且具相似生态位的动物群相比,除与哈萨克斯坦南部的同期动物群比较接近外,与澳大利亚、北美、英国等地的同期动物群几乎毫无联系,指示华南中奥陶世腕足动物群可能代表一个独特的生物地理小区。  相似文献
