Emergence of Gomphus lucasii Selys, 1849, an unstudied Maghreb endemic, was synchronised by overwintering in the final stadium in the Seybouse River in northeastern Algeria. Regular collections revealed that half of the annual population emerged during 10 days, showing a typical ‘spring species’ emergence pattern. Sex ratio was slightly male biased (51%). Males and females did not differ in vertical stratification. Emergence support choice was not random, but rather depended on support height, body size, and daily population density. Mortality was caused mainly by ants, although deformity of tenerals and bird predation were also important factors. Gomphus lucasii has been assessed as vulnerable (International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List), and the information provided in our study will be helpful in future conservation efforts.  相似文献

The previously unknown larvae of O. assimilis (Schneider, 1845) and O. lefebvrei (Rambur, 1842) are described, while that of O. flexuosus (Schneider, 1845) is redescribed, all from material from SW. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Their distributions extend from the eastern mediterranean to central-west Asia and are mapped. A differential diagnosis and key to the identification of the larvae of four central Asiatic species of the genus Onychogomphus is given.  相似文献

Emergence and seasonal regulation of the dragonfly Onychogomphus costae Selys, 1885, were surveyed thoroughly during two consecutive years from two nearby stretches upstream the Seybouse River, northeastern Algeria. The emergence season started in mid-May and lasted 68 and 58 days showing a peak in late May and early June in 2011 and 2012, respectively. During the two years 2011 and 2012, 50% of annual emergence occurred after 25 and 22 days, respectively. Sex ratio was slightly but not significantly male biased. Female exuviae were recorded at higher height than males. Height of the exuviae fixation was positively correlated to support height and head width. Percentage mortality at emergence was mainly due to deformity and predation counting from 7.9% to 9.15% of the total emergent population. The species seasonal regulation is inferred and discussed based on the emergence temporal pattern and larval development.  相似文献

A new type of exterilium larvae referable to Leptobrotula (Ophidiiformes: Ophidiidae) is described on the basis of two specimens (20.7+mm and ca. 35.4mmSL) collected from the tropical Indo-Pacific. They are characterized, in particular, by several elongated anterior dorsal fin rays supported by the large dorsal pterygiophores and the exterilium gut bearing filamentous appendages along the ventral border. It is suggested from larval evidence that Leptobrotula forms a distinct lineage with Brotulotaenia and Lamprogrammus, which may be placed in an expanded Brotulonaeniinae.  相似文献

The larva of Discoverichthys (Aulopiformes: Ipnopidae) is described for the first time based on a specimen 39.5 mm in standard length collected in surface waters near the Marianas in the western North Pacific. Despite its remote location from the previous record in eastern North Atlantic (type locality), this larva was identified as Discoverichthys praecox by general agreements of meristic counts and other morphological features. It is characterized by the following possible autapomorphic features: body moderately elongate, with uniformly distended abdomen, terminating in long, stout trailing gut; all fins, particularly the pectoral and pelvic, are extensively produced; body pigmentation is scanty, but all fins except the caudal are polka-dotted distally and covered by unusually thick skin; the skeleton is largely cartilaginous, with poorly differentiated axial components and uniquely expanded dorsal- and anal-fin pterygiophores. Its peculiar morphology is discussed with special reference to transformation events.  相似文献

Prey antigen levels were determined by a quantitative enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in larvae of a carabid predator, Poecilus cupreus L. under laboratory conditions. We determined prey consumption and rate of prey protein decay in larvae having starved for different periods. Prey consumption increased exponentially over 7 days of starvation. The rate of prey immunoreactive material decay seemed to be logarithmic, similar in larvae which had starved for different periods. Most of the digestion took place in the first 3 days period after feeding, irrespective of the amounts ingested. The rate of decay increased with increasing period of starvation. There were also signs of food retention in the alimentary canal in larvae which starved longer.
Zusammenfassung Mit eine quantitativen enzymabhängigen Immunoabsorptionstest wurde immunoreaktives Material aus Beutetieren als Eiweissgehalt (IRM/P) in Larven eines polyphagen räuberischen Carabiden, Poecilus cupreus, bestimmt. Wir bestimmten den Beuteverzehr und die Geschwindigkeit des IRM/P Abbaus bei Larven, die während verschiedener Zeit gehungert hatten. Der Beuteverzehr nahm exponentiell zu über 7 Tage Hunger. Die Geschwindigkeit des Beute- IRM/P Abbaus schien logarithmisch. Die Beuteaufnahme nahm fast zwanzigfach zu über 7 Tage Hunger von 2.7 ng auf 50.2 ng IRM/P/10 Mikroliter Larvenextrakt. Der grösste Teil der Verdauung erfolgte am zweiten bis dritten Tag nach der Nahrungsaufnahme, unabhängig von der verdauten Menge. Das Niveau 4 Tage nach der Fütterung zeigte, dass Larven, die vorgängig 7 Tage gehungert hatten, 5.0 ng IRM/P/10 Microliter Extrakt zurückhielten; dies war mehr als die Aufnahmemenge nichthungernder Larven. Die Verdauungsgeschwindigleit nahm zu mit der Dauer des Hungerns, doch wurde auch mehr Beute im Nahrungskanal zurückgehalten.

Fine binding specificities to Ascaris suum and A. lumbricoides antigens of the sera from patients with probable visceral larva migrans (VLM) due to A. suum infection were examined. Although multiple-dot enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was found to be useful for the primary screening of patients, identification of the responsible species was sometimes difficult due to extensive cross reactions with other ascarid parasite antigens. Fine resolution to determine the causative pathogen was obtained by a rather classical Ouchterlony's double immunodiffusion test. The difference in the binding of the patients' sera to A. suum and A. lumbricoides antigens was also demonstrated by an inhibition ELISA. The patients' antibodies bound with higher avidity to the A. suum antigen than to the A. lumbricoides and Toxocara canis antigens. Combination of at least two different immunological assay methods is recommended for the diagnosis of VLM due to ascarid parasites.  相似文献

The objective of this work were to isolate and identify strains of entomopathogenic fungi from ingurgitated female Boophilus microplus ticks, collected from the soil in the municipality of Paracambi, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The ingurgitated females were inoculated in the selective medium oat dodine agar (oda), where 49 colonies of Beauveria bassiana (71%) and 20 of Metarhizium anisopliae var. anisopliae (29%) were isolated. These isolated strains characterize for the first time in Brazil the natural occurrence of these species of fungi in this tick, and will be used to conduct bioassays to evaluate the pathogenicity and virulence of these strains for ticks of the genus Boophilus microplus. A 15-year-old boy, who had recently arrived back from a trip to Cambodia for a missionary camp, presented with several serpiginous thread-like skin lesions that began as small papules on the left upper extremities 2 weeks before his visit to Hospital. The skin lesions were pruritic and erythematous, and had migrated to the chest and abdomen. The histopathological findings showed only lymphocytic and eosinophilic infiltrations in the dermis of the biopsied skin lesion. The patient's serum reacted strongly to the Ancylostoma caninum antigen by an ELISA method. Therefore, he was diagnosed with cutaneous larva migrans by A. caninum. After the oral administration of albendazole and ivermectin, the skin lesions resolved without recurrence. This is the first reported case of a cutaneous larva migrans caused by Ancylostoma canimum diagnosed serologically using ELISA in Korea.  相似文献

The embryonic, larval and juvenile development of blue whiting,Sillago parvisquamis Gill, are described from a series of laboratory-reared specimens. Mean egg diameter and mean total length (TL) of newly-hatched larvae were 0.71 mm and 1.58 mm, respectively. The eggs were non-adhesive, buoyant and spherical with an oil globule (mean diameter 0.18 mm). Hatching occurred about 20 hours after fertilization at a temperature of 24.0–25.0°C, newly-hatched larvae having 38–40 myomeres. The yolk and oil globule were completely absorbed 3 days after hatching at 2.8–3.2 (mean 3.0) mm TL. Notochord flexion was completed by 7.2–8.2 (7.7) mm TL, and pectoral and caudal fin rays fully developed by approximately 10 mm and 8.5 mm TL, respectively. Completion of fin development occurred in the following sequence: caudal, pectoral, anal and second dorsal, first dorsal and pelvic, the last-mentioned by approximately 11 mm TL. The larvae ofS. parvisquamis andS. japonica, which closely resemble each other in general morphology and pigmentation, could be distinguished as follows. Newly-hatchedS. parvisquamis larvae had more myomeres thanS. japonica (38–40 vs. 32–34) and more melanophores on the dorsal surface of the body (19–28 vs. about 40).Sillago japonica had a vertical band of melanophores on the caudal peduncle, which was lacking in postflexionS. parvisquamis larvae. In addition, juveniles ofS. parvisquamis (larger than 23 mm TL) had melanophores on the body extending anteriorly to below the lateral line to form a midlateral band, whereas no obvious band occurred on similarly-sizedS. japonica juveniles.  相似文献

Yolk-sac larvae of Solenostomus paradoxus are described from 19 specimens (2.8–5.1 mm in body length) discharged from the brood pouch of a single female collected by hand at Libong Island, Trang, southern Thailand, on 30 January 2002. Although the larvae of S. paradoxus were closely similar to those of S. cyanopterus in general appearance and pigmentation patterns, the former differed in lacking clusters of melanophores on the edge of the dorsal finfold and dark oblique streaks on the dorsal and ventral finfolds near the tail tip.  相似文献

在饲料中添加含硒化合物喂养黄粉虫Tenebrio molitor L.幼虫,测定幼虫硒含量、粪便硒含量和体重的变化,计算黄粉虫幼虫特定生长率及幼虫对硒生物积累系数,分析黄粉虫有效积累硒的条件。结果表明,饲料硒含量在15~20mg/kg时,幼虫硒含量明显提高,对硒的生物积累系数高于其它试验组水平,饲料硒含量过高,幼虫硒含量降低,正常生长受到抑制。黄粉虫幼虫特定生长率、取食量、排粪量、干物质含量随着饲料硒含量的增加而降低,死亡率、粪便硒含量随着饲料硒含量的增加而增大。饲料硒含量为15~20mg/kg时黄粉虫幼虫对硒的生物积累效果最好。  相似文献

为评估鱼类混养及其排泄物对水体环境的潜在影响,采用室内受控实验研究了鲢(Hypophthalmichthys molitrix)和黄尾鲴(Xenocypris davidi)混养对水体鱼腥藻和水质的影响。实验设置鲢投放组、鲢鲴组合投放组和空白对照组,实验周期14 d。结果发现,鱼类的放养增加了实验水体的营养负荷,有鱼实验组水体中总氮、总磷、氨氮和高锰酸盐指数均高于对照组,且实验后期鲢组的营养盐浓度均高于鲢鲴组;有鱼实验组水体中叶绿素a浓度和藻密度均降低,且鲢鲴组较鲢组降低更为明显;黄尾鲴的加入可以减少水体中鱼类排泄物的积累,鲢鲴组鱼类生物量较鲢组多,但排泄物重量却低于鲢组;鲢鲴组对鱼腥藻的消化率更高,实验结束时达到79.33%,极显著高于鲢组(P<0.01)。即在鲢控藻的基础上,混养黄尾鲴可以减少鲢摄食鱼腥藻后的排泄物重量,减少因鱼类排泄物造成的二次污染。  相似文献

Summary Tissues that have the ultrastructural characteristics of nervous tissues are associated with ciliary and muscular elements of the pluteus larva of Strongylocentrotus purpuratus. The nerve cells are found along the margins of the ciliary bands, which are composed predominantly of spindle-shaped ciliated cells. The nerve cells contribute axonal processes to a tract of axons, which runs at the base of the ciliary band throughout its length. Axonal tracts, in the esophagus, lie beneath the circumesophageal muscles. Branched microvilli, which have been interpreted as sensory receptors, are located on the oral side of the main ciliary band and connect with the nerve cells in the ciliary band. The nervous structures described here, and other tissues of the pluteus that have been previously described as nervous, are compared on the basis of their association with receptor and effector organs, and their ultrastructural characteristics.  相似文献

A successful conservation strategy for an insect species should address the habitat requirements of all life stages and all activities performed by those life stages. In this paper the night-time roosting habitat and behaviour of the endangered damselfly Coenagrion mercuriale (Odonata: Coenagrionidae) was investigated by marking damselflies with UV fluorescent paint. Night-time observations revealed that individuals did not roost together and those that were recorded on more than one occasion did not return to the same spot each night. There was no apparent preference for roosting close to the watercourses. C. mercuriale roosted towards the top of the vegetation and this vegetation was considerably taller than the mean height of the vegetation in the study area. Adults were strongly associated with two tussock-forming monocots, Juncus inflexus and Deschampsia cespitosa. Differences in the abundance of these plants were shown to result in large differences in the numbers of C. mercuriale roosting in different parts of the site. The importance of providing these structural elements of habitat as part of a wider conservation strategy for this species is discussed.  相似文献

Summary The ultrastructure of coronet cells of the saccus vasculosus has been studied in specimens of Anguilla anguilla (L.) at different stages of its life cycle. At all the stages observed coronet cells are composed of a basal and an apical part, the latter bearing globules with primary vesicles. In the larva (a marine form) and in the fully metamorphosed small eel at the time of entry into freshwater the narrow lumen and the vesicles within the apical globules are filled with electron-dense material. In forms in which adaptation to freshwater has occurred, the saccus lumen appears expanded, the apical globules are better developed, and the electron-dense material has disappeared. It is suggested that the two situations observed represent different functional states of the organ, in relation to different conditions of environmental salinity.The authors gratefully acknowledge the contribution of Dr. G.
