Septoria leaf spot is one the most widespread disease affecting pistachio (Pistacia vera) in countries of the Mediterranean region. Traditionally, three species have been associated with pistachio, including Septoria pistaciae, Septoria pistaciarum and S. pistacina. However, recent taxonomic studies have reordered and clarified the status of Septoria and septoria-like pathogens affecting pistachio. In our study, field surveys conducted in the traditional Sicilian pistachio production area of Bronte revealed the presence of trees showing characteristic septoria-like leaf spot. Collected isolates were morphologically and molecularly characterized. Morphological characterization was based on conidia measurements and evaluation of mycelial growth on different artificial media. Tested media included CMA, MEA, OA, PDA, and SNA. Phylogenetic analysis was conducted on a multi-locus approach (ITS + tef1 + tub2) based on Maximum Parsimony and Maximum Likelihood. Results showed that our isolates clustered with S. pistaciarum. Pathogenicity test was conducted in the field using conidia suspensions in order to fulfill Koch's postulates. Presence of characteristic rounded spots and pycnidia was evaluated on the inoculated leaves 9 and 23 days after inoculation. This study represents the first update on S. pistaciarum in Italy since its first identification in 1934. 相似文献

Alternaria leaf spot caused by Alternaria alternata (Fries.) Kiessler was found on sow thistle (Sonchus oleraceus L.) and field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis L.) in the experimental station of ENSA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie) in Algiers, Algeria, during the winter of 2016. Necrotic spots in the form of concentric circles were observed on the leaves of both weeds with disease incidence of approximately 70% and disease severity ranging from 50% to 70%. Fungi were isolated from the infected leaves and identified as A. alternata, based on morphological and molecular analyses (using genetic marker internal transcribed spacer, ITS of rDNA). Pathogenicity tests confirmed that A. alternata is the causing agent of leaf spot disease of sow thistle and field bindweed in accordance with the original symptoms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of sow thistle and field bindweed naturally infected by A. alternata in Algeria. 相似文献

Chilli is one of the spices used to enhance the flavour and taste of cooked food. Fungal diseases are the main biological constraints in chilli production, and Alternaria leaf spot disease caused by Alternaria alternata is one of the most devastating diseases of chilli. One of the effective and environmentally friendly ways to control this disease is introgress resistance from wild relative/varieties to the cultivated one. The first step towards introgression of resistance genes is to screen the chill germplasm for leaf spot resistance. In the current study, we screened the chilly germplasm and identified the sources of leaf spot resistance, which can be harnessed in resistance breeding programmes. 相似文献

A leaf spot disease of melon caused by Alternaria alternata f.sp. cucurbitae was recorded for the first time in Crete. Necrotic flecks surrounded by chlorotic halos developed on the cotyledons and the leaves of the middle and the upper part of the plants; the flecks enlarged and coalesced to form lesions of 2 cm or more in diameter with brown fructifications of the pathogen on their surface. Severely affected cotyledons and leaves became chlorotic and died. Of 16 species from eight botanical families that were inoculated, only those of the Cucurbitaceae were susceptible. Of four isolates of A. alternata from tomato, sunflower, pear and cucumber, only the cucumber isolate was pathogenic to melon foliage. 相似文献

A leaf spot disease caused by Phoma eupyrena Sacc. on Aloe vera was reported from Madhya Pradesh, India. Disease symptoms were observed as irregular to elongated, sunken lesion on both leaf surfaces which later turns creamish brown with maroon margin. The fungal colonies were whitish or light pale to dark grey colour. The pycnidia were glabrous and solitary, papillate, and indistinctly uniostiolate averages 100–260 μm in diameter. Conidia were ellipsoidal, 4.5–7.5 × 2.5–3.75 μm in size, with two large guttules. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of P. eupyrena causing leaf spot disease on A. vera in India. 相似文献

Abstract Fifty-six indigenous and 29 exotic mulberry varieties were screened against powdery mildew, Myrothecium leaf spot, Pseudocercospora leaf spot for a period of three years under field conditions. The percent disease index (PDI) was recorded during the peak season of the diseases. Out of 85 germplasm lines studied four-germplasm lines viz. Thailand lobed (0.43), M. multicaulis (2.63), Italian (2.83) and M. australis (4.56) were found highly resistant; nine lines were resistant; 43 lines were moderately resistant and 29 were susceptible to the disease complex. Powdery mildew showed significant positive correlation with Pseudocercospora leaf spot. Highly resistant varieties may be utilized for future disease resistance breeding programme to evolve multiple disease resistant mulberry varieties. 相似文献

In the years 2011–2014, a series of surveys were conducted to record infestation and search natural fungal pathogens of Trianthema portulacastrum in various states of India. Among ten different agricultural important crops, heavy infestation and percentage of occurrence were observed. Gibbago trianthema, phaeodictyconidial genus, causing leaf spot disease was found on horse purslane at different districts of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh from infected leaves and stems. Identification was confirmed on the basis of ITS rDNA sequence analysis by Macrogen Inc., Advancing through Genomics, Korea, and from CABI International Mycological Institute, England (IMI Number 502781, 502782). Sequence has been submitted to National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) with GenBank accession number KJ825852. By in vitro inoculation on Trianthema leaves, the pathogen showed similar symptoms as occurred in nature and proved Koch’s postulates. Various stages of conidia development were observed which proved the blastic-type ontogeny and porogenous development of conidiophore cell. 相似文献

Four hundred and twenty-two spring wheat germplasm (Triticum aestivum L.) lines belonging to Indian, CIMMYT and Chinese wheat programme were evaluated for their tolerance against natural epiphytotic conditions of spot blotch caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana at the hot spot location, Pusa, Bihar, India. Of the 422 entries screened, none of the genotype showed immunity to the disease, whereas 52 were resistant, 180 moderately susceptible, 171 susceptible and 19 highly susceptible. Indian germplasm lines tended to be more susceptible than lines originated from CIMMYT and China. Chirya 3, Chirya 7 and Mayoor from CIMMYT showed high degree of resistance to the disease both under field and polyhouse conditions. On the basis of the disease severity under field conditions, 20 promising resistant genotypes and 10 highly susceptible lines were isolated for further testing under artificial epiphytotic conditions in polyhouse for genetic analysis and their potential for spot blotch resistance breeding. 相似文献

In order to develop weather-based forecasting model of bacterial leaf spot (BLS) disease of mulberry caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. mori, weekly disease severity data were recorded for three years on the ruling cultivar S-1. Daily meteorological data viz. maximum temperature, minimum temperature, maximum relative humidity, minimum relative humidity, rainfall and number of rainy days were also recorded. It was observed that BLS appeared in April/May and continued up to November with maximum severity in July. The correlation coefficient between disease severity and meteorological parameters revealed that the BLS disease severity has significant positive correlation with minimum temperatures, maximum and minimum relative humidity, rainfall and number of rainy days and negative correlation with maximum temperature. Multiple regressions analysis revealed that average of maximum temperature, minimum temperature and rainfall of preceding seven days and maximum relative humidity, minimum relative humidity of previous 9–15 days was found to maximally influence BLS disease severity. The contribution of the meteorological factors was found to be highest of minimum temperature (40.65%) followed by maximum temperature (24.20%), maximum relative humidity (16.41%), minimum relative humidity (8.07%), rainfall (5.29%) and number of rainy days (5.38%). 相似文献

Chitosan combined with sodium silicate treatment induces resistance against rot caused by Alternaria alternata in postharvest jujube fruit 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The effect of chitosan (0.1 mol/L) combined with sodium silicate (100 mmol/L) treatment on Alternaria rot caused by Alternaria alternata in postharvest jujube fruit (Ziziphus jujuba Mill. cv. Dongzao) was studied. The results showed that chitosan combined with sodium silicate treatment significantly reduced the lesion diameter, decay incidence, red index and weight loss of jujube fruit compared with control samples. Combining treatment increased the ascorbic acid, flavonoids, total phenolic compounds and lignin content. The level of superoxide anion () and hydrogen peroxide of treated samples was also increased compared with the control samples. Meanwhile, the activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase, polyphenol oxidase, superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, chitinase and β‐1,3‐glucanase were also accumulated in treated jujube samples, while the activity of catalase markedly decreased. These results indicated that chitosan combined with sodium silicate treatment could induce the disease resistance of postharvest jujube. Therefore, coating postharvest jujube using chitosan combined with sodium silicate could promise as a novel method for preventing the disease infection of postharvest jujube. 相似文献

In 2012 and 2013, black leaf spot disease was observed on ramie plants in Hunan and Hubei Provinces, China. In the field, the symptoms of this disease included dark green to black big spots on leaves, often resulting in upwardly curled leaf margins. The pathogen isolates were identified as Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler on the basis of morphology and sequence similarity of 99–100% to the published data for internal transcribed spacer (ITS), and glyceraldehyde‐3‐phosphate dehydrogenase (gdp). To our knowledge, this is the first report of Alternaria leaf spot of ramie in China. 相似文献
