The ptsH gene from Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti), coding for the phosphocarrier protein HPr of the phosphotransferase system has been cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli. Comparison of its primary sequence with other HPr sequences revealed that the conserved His15 and Ser46 residues were shifted by one amino acid and located at positions 14 and 45, respectively. The biological activity of the protein was not affected by this change. When expressed in a Bacillus subtilis ptsH deletion strain, Bti HPr was able to complement the functions of HPr in sugar uptake and glucose catabolite repression of the gnt and iol operons. A modified form of HPr was detected in Bti cells, and also when Bti ptsH was expressed in E. coli or B. subtilis. This modification was identified as phosphorylation, because alkaline phosphatase treatment converted the modified form to unmodified HPr. The phosphoryl bond in the new form of in vivo phosphorylated HPr was resistant to alkali treatment but sensitive to acid treatment, suggesting phosphorylation at a histidine residue. Replacement of His14 with alanine in Bti HPr prevented formation of the new form of phosphorylated HPr. The phosphorylated HPr was stable at 60 degrees C, in contrast with HPr phosphorylated at the N delta 1 position of His14 with phosphoenolpyruvate and enzyme I. (31)P-NMR spectroscopy was used to show that the new form of P-HPr carried the phosphoryl group bound to the N epsilon 2 position of His14 of Bti HPr. Phosphorylation of HPr at the novel site did not occur when Bti HPr was expressed in an enzyme I-deficient B. subtilis strain. In addition, P-(N epsilon 2)His-HPr did not transfer its phosphoryl group to the purified glucose-specific enzyme IIA domain of B. subtilis.  相似文献

The histidine protein (HPr) is the energy-coupling protein of the phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP)-dependent carbohydrate:phosphotransferase system (PTS), which catalyzes sugar transport in many bacteria. In its functions, HPr interacts with a number of evolutionarily unrelated proteins. Mainly, it delivers phosphoryl groups from enzyme I (EI) to the sugar-specific transporters (EIIs). HPr proteins of different bacteria exhibit almost identical structures, and, where known, they use similar surfaces to interact with their target proteins. Here we studied the in vivo effects of the replacement of HPr and EI of Escherichia coli with the homologous proteins from Bacillus subtilis, a gram-positive bacterium. This replacement resulted in severe growth defects on PTS sugars, suggesting that HPr of B. subtilis cannot efficiently phosphorylate the EIIs of E. coli. In contrast, activation of the E. coli BglG regulatory protein by HPr-catalyzed phosphorylation works well with the B. subtilis HPr protein. Random mutations were introduced into B. subtilis HPr, and a screen for improved growth on PTS sugars yielded amino acid changes in positions 12, 16, 17, 20, 24, 27, 47, and 51, located in the interaction surface of HPr. Most of the changes restore intermolecular hydrophobic interactions and salt bridges normally formed by the corresponding residues in E. coli HPr. The residues present at the targeted positions differ between HPrs of gram-positive and -negative bacteria, but within each group they are highly conserved. Therefore, they may constitute a signature motif that determines the specificity of HPr for either gram-negative or -positive EIIs.  相似文献

In gram-positive bacteria, HPr, a phosphocarrier protein of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS), is phosphorylated by an ATP-dependent, metabolite-activated protein kinase on seryl residue 46. In a Bacillus subtilis mutant strain in which Ser-46 of HPr was replaced with a nonphosphorylatable alanyl residue (ptsH1 mutation), synthesis of gluconate kinase, glucitol dehydrogenase, mannitol-1-P dehydrogenase and the mannitol-specific PTS permease was completely relieved from repression by glucose, fructose, or mannitol, whereas synthesis of inositol dehydrogenase was partially relieved from catabolite repression and synthesis of alpha-glucosidase and glycerol kinase was still subject to catabolite repression. When the S46A mutation in HPr was reverted to give S46 wild-type HPr, expression of gluconate kinase and glucitol dehydrogenase regained full sensitivity to repression by PTS sugars. These results suggest that phosphorylation of HPr at Ser-46 is directly or indirectly involved in catabolite repression. A strain deleted for the ptsGHI genes was transformed with plasmids expressing either the wild-type ptsH gene or various S46 mutant ptsH genes (S46A or S46D). Expression of the gene encoding S46D HPr, having a structure similar to that of P-ser-HPr according to nuclear magnetic resonance data, caused significant reduction of gluconate kinase activity, whereas expression of the genes encoding wild-type or S46A HPr had no effect on this enzyme activity. When the promoterless lacZ gene was put under the control of the gnt promoter and was subsequently incorporated into the amyE gene on the B. subtilis chromosome, expression of beta-galactosidase was inducible by gluconate and repressed by glucose. However, we observed no repression of beta-galactosidase activity in a strain carrying the ptsH1 mutation. Additionally, we investigated a ccpA mutant strain and observed that all of the enzymes which we found to be relieved from carbon catabolite repression in the ptsH1 mutant strain were also insensitive to catabolite repression in the ccpA mutant. The phosphotransferase system (PTS) is involved in the use of carbon sources in bacteria. It is formed by two general proteins: enzyme I (EI) and the histidine phosphocarrier (HPr), and various sugar-specific permeases. EI is formed by two domains, with the N-terminal domain (EIN) being responsible for the binding to HPr. In low-G+C Gram-positive bacteria, HPr becomes phosphorylated not only by phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) at the active-site histidine, but also by ATP at a serine. In this work, we have characterized: (i) the stability and binding affinities between the active-site-histidine phosphorylated species of HPr and the EIN from Streptomyces coelicolor; and (ii) the stability and binding affinities of the species involving the phosphorylation at the regulatory serine of HPr(sc). Our results show that the phosphorylated active-site species of both proteins are less stable than the unphosphorylated counterparts. Conversely, the Hpr-S47D, which mimics phosphorylation at the regulatory serine, is more stable than wild-type HPr(sc) due to helical N-capping effects, as suggested by the modeled structure of the protein. Binding among the phosphorylated and unphosphorylated species is always entropically driven, but the affinity and the enthalpy vary widely.  相似文献

HPr is a protein of the bacterial phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase transport system (PTS). In Gram-positive bacteria, HPr can be phosphorylated on Ser(46) by HPr(Ser) kinase/phosphorylase (HPrK/P) and on His(15) by enzyme I (EI) of the PTS. In vitro studies have shown that phosphorylation on one residue greatly inhibits the second phosphorylation. However, streptococci contain significant amounts of HPr(Ser-P)(His approximately P) during exponential growth, and recent studies suggest that phosphorylation of HPr(Ser-P) by EI is involved in the recycling of HPr(Ser-P)(His approximately P). We report in this paper a study on the phosphorylation of Streptococcus salivarius HPr, HPr(Ser-P), and HPr(S46D) by EI. Our results indicate that (i) the specificity constant (k(cat)/K(m)) of EI for HPr(Ser-P) at pH 7.9 was approximately 5000-fold smaller than that observed for HPr, (ii) no metabolic intermediates were able to stimulate HPr(Ser-P) phosphorylation, (iii) the rate of HPr phosphorylation decreased at pHs below 6.5, while that of HPr(Ser-P) increased and was almost 10-fold higher at pH 6.1 than at pH 7.9, (iv) HPr(S46D), a mutated HPr alleged to mimic HPr(Ser-P), was also phosphorylated more efficiently under acidic conditions, and, lastly, (v) phosphorylation of Bacillus subtilis HPr(Ser-P) by B. subtilis EI was also stimulated at acidic pH. Our results suggest that the high levels of HPr(Ser-P)(His approximately P) in streptococci result from the combination of two factors, a high physiological concentration of HPr(Ser-P) and stimulation of HPr(Ser-P) phosphorylation by EI at acidic pH, an intracellular condition that occurs in response to the acidification of the external medium during growth of the culture.  相似文献

The phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) is made of several proteins. Two of them are designated general proteins because they are required for the transport and phosphorylation of all sugars of the PTS. These two proteins are found in the soluble fraction of cellular extracts and are termed HPr and enzyme I (EI). We reported in this work the purification and the characterization of these two proteins from Streptococcus salivarius ATCC 25975. HPr was purified by DEAE-cellulose chromatography, molecular sieving on Ultrogel AcA44, and carboxymethylcellulose chromatography. Sodium dodecyl sulfate electrophoresis in the presence of urea revealed a single band with a molecular weight of 6700. The protein contained no tryptophan and had a pI of 4.8. The purification scheme of EI was as follows: DEAE-cellulose chromatography, hydroxylapatite chromatography, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 chromatography, preparative electrophoresis, and molecular sieving on Ultrogel AcA34. The five-step purification for EI produced a 199-fold purified preparation with a specific activity of 530 mumol of HPr phosphorylated per minute per milligram of protein at 37 degrees C. The fraction obtained after filtration on Ultrogel AcA34 gave one band (68 000) on sodium dodecyl sulfate - polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The molecular weight of the native enzyme determined by gel filtration at 4 degrees C was 135 000, suggesting that it was a dimer. Enzyme I had a pI of 4.2, a pH optimum of 6.7, a Km for HPr of about 27 microM, a Km for phosphoenolpyruvate of 0.48 mM, and kinetics that were consistent with a Ping-Pong mechanism. Evidence had been obtained which indicated that S. salivarius enzyme I was antigenically very similar to enzyme I from various strains of Streptococcus mutans, but not to the enzyme from Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, and Escherichia coli.  相似文献

Histidine-containing phosphocarrier protein (HPr) is common to all of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase systems (PTS) in Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium, except the fructose-specific PTS. Strains which lack HPr activity (ptsH) have been characterized in the past, and it has proved difficult to delineate between tight and leaky mutants. In this study four different parameters of ptsH strains were measured: in vitro sugar phosphorylation activity of the mutant HPr; detection of 32P-labeled P-HPr; ability of monoclonal antibodies to bind mutant HPr; and sensitivity of ptsH strains to fosfomycin. Tight ptsH strains could be defined; they were fosfomycin resistant and produced no HPr protein or completely inactive mutant HPr. All leaky ptsH strains were fosfomycin sensitive, usually produced normal amounts of mutant HPr protein, and had low but measurable activity, and HPr was detectable as a phosphoprotein. This indicates that the regulatory functions of the PTS require a very low level of HPr activity (about 1%). The antibodies used to detect mutant HPr in crude extracts were two monoclonal immunoglobulin G antibodies Jel42 and Jel44. Both antibodies, which have different pIs, inhibited PTS sugar phosphorylation assays, but the antibody-HPr complex could still be phosphorylated by enzyme I. Preliminary evidence suggests that the antibodies bind to two different epitopes which are in part located in a beta-sheet structure.  相似文献

The LevR protein is the activator of expression of the levanase operon of Bacillus subtilis. The promoter of this operon is recognized by RNA polymerase containing the sigma 54-like factor sigma L. One domain of the LevR protein is homologous to activators of the NtrC family, and another resembles antiterminator proteins of the BglG family. It has been proposed that the domain which is similar to antiterminators is a target of phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS)-dependent regulation of LevR activity. We show that the LevR protein is not only negatively regulated by the fructose-specific enzyme IIA/B of the phosphotransferase system encoded by the levanase operon (lev-PTS) but also positively controlled by the histidine-containing phosphocarrier protein (HPr) of the PTS. This second type of control of LevR activity depends on phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent phosphorylation of HPr histidine 15, as demonstrated with point mutations in the ptsH gene encoding HPr. In vitro phosphorylation of partially purified LevR was obtained in the presence of phosphoenolpyruvate, enzyme I, and HPr. The dependence of truncated LevR polypeptides on stimulation by HPr indicated that the domain homologous to antiterminators is the target of HPr-dependent regulation of LevR activity. This domain appears to be duplicated in the LevR protein. The first antiterminator-like domain seems to be the target of enzyme I and HPr-dependent phosphorylation and the site of LevR activation, whereas the carboxy-terminal antiterminator-like domain could be the target for negative regulation by the lev-PTS.  相似文献

Listeria monocytogenes is a gram-positive bacterium whose carbohydrate metabolic pathways are poorly understood. We provide evidence for an inducible phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP):fructose phosphotransferase system (PTS) in this pathogen. The system consists of enzyme I, HPr, and a fructose-specific enzyme II complex which generates fructose-1-phosphate as the cytoplasmic product of the PTS-catalyzed vectorial phosphorylation reaction. Fructose-1-phosphate kinase then converts the product of the PTS reaction to fructose-1,6-bisphosphate. HPr was shown to be phosphorylated by [32P]PEP and enzyme I as well as by [32P]ATP and a fructose-1,6-bisphosphate-activated HPr kinase like those found in other gram-positive bacteria. Enzyme I, HPr, and the enzyme II complex of the Listeria PTS exhibit enzymatic cross-reactivity with PTS enzyme constituents from Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

HPr is a protein of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase transport system (PTS). In gram-positive bacteria, HPr can be phosphorylated on Ser-46 by the kinase/phosphorylase HprK/P and on His-15 by phospho-enzyme I (EI~P) of the PTS. In vitro studies with purified HPrs from Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus salivarius have indicated that the phosphorylation of one residue impedes the phosphorylation of the other. However, a recent study showed that while the rate of Streptococcus salivarius HPr phosphorylation by EI~P is reduced at acidic pH, the phosphorylation of HPr(Ser-P) by EI~P, generating HPr(Ser-P)(His~P), is stimulated. This suggests that HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) synthesis may occur in acidogenic bacteria unable to maintain their intracellular pH near neutrality. Consistent with this hypothesis, significant amounts of HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) have been detected in some streptococci. The present study was aimed at determining whether the capacity to synthesize HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) is common to streptococcal species, as well as to lactococci, which are also unable to maintain their intracellular pH near neutrality in response to a decrease in extracellular pH. Our results indicated that unlike Staphylococcus aureus, B. subtilis, and E. faecalis, all the streptococcal and lactococcal species tested were able to synthesize large amounts of HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) during growth. We also showed that Streptococcus salivarius IIABLMan, a protein involved in sugar transport by the PTS, could be efficiently phosphorylated by HPr(Ser-P)(His~P).  相似文献

Enzyme IIImtl is part of the mannitol phosphotransferase system of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus carnosus and is phosphorylated by phosphoenolpyruvate in a reaction sequence requiring enzyme I (phosphoenolpyruvate-protein phosphotransferase) and the histidine-containing protein HPr. In this paper, we report the isolation of IIImtl from both S. aureus and S. carnosus and the characterization of the active center. After phosphorylation of IIImtl with [32P]PEP, enzyme I, and HPr, the phosphorylated protein was cleaved with endoproteinase Glu(C). The amino acid sequence of the S. aureus peptide carrying the phosphoryl group was found to be Gln-Val-Val-Ser-Thr-Phe-Met-Gly-Asn-Gly-Leu-Ala-Ile-Pro-His-Gly-Thr-Asp- Asp. The corresponding peptide from S. carnosus shows an equal sequence except that the first residue is Ala instead of Gln. These peptides both contain a single histidyl residue which we assume to carry the phosphoryl group. All proteins of the PTS so far investigated indeed carry the phosphoryl group attached to a histidyl residue. According to sodium dodecyl sulfate gels, the molecular weight of the IIImtl proteins was found to be 15,000. We have also determined the N-terminal sequence of both proteins. Comparison of the IIImtl peptide sequences and the C-terminal part of the enzyme IImtl of Escherichia coli reveals considerable sequence homology, which supports the suggestion that IImtl of E. coli is a fusion protein of a soluble III protein with a membrane-bound enzyme II. In particular, the homology of the active-center peptide of IIImtl of S. aureus and S. carnosus with the enzyme IImtl of E. coli allows one to predict the N-3 histidine phosphorylation site within the E. coli enzyme.  相似文献

The histidine-containing protein (HPr) of bacterial phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) serves a central role in a series of phosphotransfer reactions used for the translocation of sugars across cell membranes. These studies report the high-definition solution structures of both the unphosphorylated and histidine phosphorylated (P-His) forms of HPr from Bacillus subtilis. Consistent with previous NMR studies, local conformational adjustments occur upon phosphorylation of His 15, which positions the phosphate group to serve as a hydrogen bond acceptor for the amide protons of Ala 16 and Arg 17 and to interact favorably with the alpha-helix macrodipole. However, the positively charged side chain of the highly conserved Arg 17 does not appear to interact directly with phospho-His 15, suggesting that Arg 17 plays a role in the recognition of other PTS enzymes or in phosphotransfer reactions directly. Unlike the results reported for Escherichia coli P-His HPr (Van Nuland NA, Boelens R, Scheek RM, Robillard GT, 1995, J Mol Biol 246:180-193), our data indicate that phosphorylation of His 15 is not accompanied by adoption of unfavorable backbone conformations for active site residues in B. subtilis P-Ser HPr.  相似文献

The HPrK kinase/phosphatase is a common component of the phosphotransferase system (PTS) of gram-positive bacteria and regulates catabolite repression through phosphorylation/dephosphorylation of its substrate, the PTS protein HPr, at a conserved serine residue. Phosphorylation of HPr by HPrK also affects additional phosphorylation of HPr by the PTS enzyme EI at a conserved histidine residue. Sinorhizobium meliloti can live as symbionts inside legume root nodules or as free-living organisms and is one of the relatively rare gram-negative bacteria known to have a gene encoding HPrK. We have constructed S. meliloti mutants that lack HPrK or that lack key amino acids in HPr that are likely phosphorylated by HPrK and EI. Deletion of hprK in S. meliloti enhanced catabolite repression caused by succinate, as did an S53A substitution in HPr. Introduction of an H22A substitution into HPr alleviated the strong catabolite repression phenotypes of strains carrying ΔhprK or hpr(S53A) mutations, demonstrating that HPr-His22-P is needed for strong catabolite repression. Furthermore, strains with a hpr(H22A) allele exhibited relaxed catabolite repression. These results suggest that HPrK phosphorylates HPr at the serine-53 residue, that HPr-Ser53-P inhibits phosphorylation at the histidine-22 residue, and that HPr-His22-P enhances catabolite repression in the presence of succinate. Additional experiments show that ΔhprK mutants overproduce exopolysaccharides and form nodules that do not fix nitrogen.  相似文献

In gram-positive bacteria, the HPr protein of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) can be phosphorylated on a histidine residue at position 15 (His(15)) by enzyme I (EI) of the PTS and on a serine residue at position 46 (Ser(46)) by an ATP-dependent protein kinase (His approximately P and Ser-P, respectively). We have isolated from Streptococcus salivarius ATCC 25975, by independent selection from separate cultures, two spontaneous mutants (Ga3.78 and Ga3.14) that possess a missense mutation in ptsH (the gene encoding HPr) replacing the methionine at position 48 by a valine. The mutation did not prevent the phosphorylation of HPr at His(15) by EI nor the phosphorylation at Ser(46) by the ATP-dependent HPr kinase. The levels of HPr(Ser-P) in glucose-grown cells of the parental and mutant Ga3.78 were virtually the same. However, mutant cells growing on glucose produced two- to threefold less HPr(Ser-P)(His approximately P) than the wild-type strain, while the levels of free HPr and HPr(His approximately P) were increased 18- and 3-fold, respectively. The mutants grew as well as the wild-type strain on PTS sugars (glucose, fructose, and mannose) and on the non-PTS sugars lactose and melibiose. However, the growth rate of both mutants on galactose, also a non-PTS sugar, decreased rapidly with time. The M48V substitution had only a minor effect on the repression of alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, and galactokinase by glucose, but this mutation abolished diauxie by rendering cells unable to prevent the catabolism of a non-PTS sugar (lactose, galactose, and melibiose) when glucose was available. The results suggested that the capacity of the wild-type cells to preferentially metabolize glucose over non-PTS sugars resulted mainly from inhibition of the catabolism of these secondary energy sources via a HPr-dependent mechanism. This mechanism was activated following glucose but not lactose metabolism, and it did not involve HPr(Ser-P) as the only regulatory molecule.  相似文献

In Streptococcus thermophilus, lactose is taken up by LacS, a transporter that comprises a membrane translocator domain and a hydrophilic regulatory domain homologous to the IIA proteins and protein domains of the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS). The IIA domain of LacS (IIALacS) possesses a histidine residue that can be phosphorylated by HPr(His~P), a protein component of the PTS. However, determination of the cellular levels of the different forms of HPr, namely, HPr, HPr(His~P), HPr(Ser-P), and HPr(Ser-P)(His~P), in exponentially lactose-growing cells revealed that the doubly phosphorylated form of HPr represented 75% and 25% of the total HPr in S. thermophilus ATCC 19258 and S. thermophilus SMQ-301, respectively. Experiments conducted with [32P]PEP and purified recombinant S. thermophilus ATCC 19258 proteins (EI, HPr, and IIALacS) showed that IIALacS was reversibly phosphorylated by HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) at a rate similar to that measured with HPr(His~P). Sequence analysis of the IIALacS protein domains from several S. thermophilus strains indicated that they can be divided into two groups on the basis of their amino acid sequences. The amino acid sequence of IIALacS from group I, to which strain 19258 belongs, differed from that of group II at 11 to 12 positions. To ascertain whether IIALacS from group II could also be phosphorylated by HPr(His~P) and HPr(Ser-P)(His~P), in vitro phosphorylation experiments were conducted with purified proteins from Streptococcus salivarius ATCC 25975, which possesses a IIALacS very similar to group II S. thermophilus IIALacS. The results indicated that S. salivarius IIALacS was phosphorylated by HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) at a higher rate than that observed with HPr(His~P). Our results suggest that the reversible phosphorylation of IIALacS in S. thermophilus is accomplished by HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) as well as by HPr(His~P).  相似文献

We have investigated the crr gene of Streptomyces coelicolor that encodes a homologue of enzyme IIAGlucose of Escherichia coli, which, as a component of the phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) plays a key role in carbon regulation by triggering glucose transport, carbon catabolite repression, and inducer exclusion. As in E. coli, the crr gene of S. coelicolor is genetically associated with the ptsI gene that encodes the general phosphotransferase enzyme I. The gene product IIACrr was overproduced, purified, and polyclonal antibodies were obtained. Western blot analysis revealed that IIACrr is expressed in vivo. The functionality of IIACrr was demonstrated by phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent phosphorylation via enzyme I and the histidine-containing phosphoryl carrier protein HPr. Phosphorylation was abolished when His72, which corresponds to the catalytic histidine of E. coli IIAGlucose, was mutated. The capacity of IIACrr to operate in sugar transport was shown by complementation of the E. coli glucose-PTS. The striking functional resemblance between IIACrr and IIAGlucose was further demonstrated by its ability to confer inducer exclusion of maltose to E. coli. A specific interaction of IIACrr with the maltose permease subunit MalK from Salmonella typhimurium was uncovered by surface plasmon resonance. These data suggest that this IIAGlucose-like protein may be involved in carbon metabolism in S. coelicolor.  相似文献

The histidine-containing protein (HPr) of the bacterial phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent phosphotransferase system (PTS) was isolated from Staphylococcus carnosus and purified to homogeneity. The protein sequence was determined by Edman degradation of peptides obtained by proteolytic digestion with proteases V8, trypsin and chemical cleavage with BrCN. Furthermore, immunological screening of a chromosomal S. carnosus DNA gene library in pUC19 vector enabled us to isolate S. carnosus HPr-expressing colonies. The nucleotide sequence of this ptsH gene and its flanking regions was determined by the dideoxy-chain-termination technique. Upstream, the 264-bp open reading frame of the ptsH gene is flanked by a putative S. carnosus promoter structure and a putative ptsI gene downstream suggesting that ptsH gene is the first gene in the PTS operon of S. carnosus. Comparison of the amino acid sequence of S. carnosus HPr with the HPr sequence of Staphylococcus aureus (derived from peptide sequencing) showed a high degree of similarity.  相似文献
