A new tribe Epistomentini is designated to include Epistomentis Solier, Cyria Solier (with which Cyrioides Carter and Xenocyria Obenberger are synonymized), Diadoxus Thomson, Cyrioxus Hoschek, and a new genus and species Araucariana queenslandica, which is described. The tribe Chrysochroini is redefined, and Epidelus Deyrolle, Cyalithus Thomson, Cyalithoides Fisher and Chrysopistus Thery are transferred to it from the Chalcophorini. Chalcophoropsis Thomson is transferred from the Chrysochroini to the Chalcophorini. A reassessment of the value of some characters used in the higher classification of the Buprestidae is given.  相似文献

Three new species of Synargis Hübner, 1819, from Paraguay and southern and central Brazil are described: Synargis fandanga sp. nov. from Paraguay (Amambay and Paraguari) and southern Brazil (Paraná and Santa Catarina), Synargis rasqueada sp. nov. from central Brazil (Mato Grosso), and Synargis gorpa sp. nov. from southern Brazil (Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul). Lectotypes are designated for Lemonias axenus Hewitson, 1876, Ematurgina axenus ochrophlegma Sitchel, 1911, Ematurgina acervata Seitz, 1932, and Ematurgina perrupta Seitz, 1932. Ematurgina ochrophlegma f. dissimilis Hayward, 1949, is a new synonym of Synargis bifasciata (Mengel, 1902), and Ematurgina ochrophlegma f. distincta Hayward, 1949, is a new synonym of Synargis axenus (Hewitson, 1876). The revalidation of E. perrupta Seitz, 1932, and the new status Synargis ochrophlegma (Stichel, 1911) are proposed. Ematurgina perrupta ab. roeberi Seitz, 1932, and Ematurgina bifasciata ochrophlegma ab. leucomelaina Breyer, 1930, are considered unavailable names. Based on a previous phylogenetic hypothesis, the phylogeny of the genus Synargis is reassessed, adding these new and revalidated taxa, and nine additional characters. The ‘Synargis regulus’ species group and the ‘Synargis axenus complex’ are recovered as monophyletic, with S. gorpa sp. nov. sister to the remaining species of the ‘S. axenus complex’. Additionally, an up‐to‐date geographical distribution map and a dichotomous key are provided, and the taxonomy of the taxa involved is discussed. © 2013 The Linnean Society of London  相似文献

Ammonia and Elphidium collected in the Kiel Fjord for the present study were first identified on morphological bases as Ammonia beccarii (Linné, 1758) and Elphidium excavatum (Terquem, 1876). Phylogenetic analyses based on partial SSU rDNA and LSU rDNA sequences show that Ammonia specimens sampled in the Kiel Fjord belong to the phylotype T6, which has a disjunct distribution (Wadden and Baltic Seas/China and Japan) and has been identified as Ammonia aomoriensis (Asano, 1951). Partial SSU rDNA sequence analyses indicate that Elphidium specimens from the Kiel Fjord belong to the clade E. excavatum, confirming the morphological identification. This clade can be further divided in three subclades. Kiel Fjord Elphidium belong to two of these subclades and were identified morphologically as the subspecies E. excavatum excavatum (Terquem, 1876) and E. e. clavatum Cushman, 1930.  相似文献

A supplement to the recent revision of Omadius Laporte 1836 (Mawdsley 2006) is presented. Ten species are treated: Omadius radulifer Gorham 1876 species reinstated is removed from synonymy with O. obscuripennis (Gorham 1876); O. scapularis (Gorham 1876) new combination is transferred from Stigmatium Gray 1832; O. chapaensis Pic 1927, O. curticollis Pic 1933, O. diversipes Pic 1933, O. nigrohumeralis Pic 1926, O. paulonotatus Pic 1946 and O. rufithorax Pic 1933 are confirmed as belonging to Omadius; and O. alishanus Nakane 1996 (missed by Mawdsley) plus the recently described O. santo Gerstmeier & Schmidl 2007 are also added. All ten species are re-described and integrated into Mawdsley’s key. The biogeographic situation and the biodiversity of Omadius in the Indo-Australian region are briefly discussed.  相似文献

An illustrated key to Rophites species and an annotated list of 9 species from Russia and adjacent territories are given. Rophites clypealis stepposus subsp. n. and the female of R. schoenitzeri Dubitzky, 2004 are described. Lectotypes of Rhophites caucasicus Morawitz, 1876 and Rh. mandibularis Morawitz, 1891 are designated. Rophites algirus is recorded for the first time from Armenia; R. caucasicus, from Azerbaijan; R. clypealis, from Bulgaria, Russia, and Kazakhstan; R. foveolatus, from Georgia; R. quinquespinosus, from Armenia and Uzbekistan; R. schoenitzeri, from Azerbaijan and Iran.  相似文献

Taxonomic revision of fish of the genus Liparis (Liparidae, Scorpaeniformes), whose species inhabit the shelves of the seas of the northern hemisphere, is performed on the basis of a a large collection of material. It is established that the genus, which includes 71 species, represents a monophyletic group. The classification of the genus is elaborated, providing justification of its separation into five subgenera: Neoliparis Steindachner, 1876; Lyoliparis Jordan et Evermann, 1896; Liparis Scopoli, 1777; Lycocara Gill, 1884; and Careliparis Garman, 1892. The fauna of the genus Sphaerophoria Le Peletier et Serville, 1828 of Siberia and adjacent territories is analyzed on the basis of examination of the material deposited at the Siberian Zoological Museum, Institute of Systematics and Ecology of Animals, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch (Novosibirsk), and at the Zoological Institute, RAS (St. Petersburg). The following new synonymies are established: Sphaerophoria interrupta (Fabricius, 1805) = Sph. altaica Violovitsh, 1976, syn. n.; Sphaerophoria macrogaster (Thomson, 1869) = Sph. krocha Violovitsh, 1976, syn. n.; Sphaerophoria rueppellii (Wiedemann, 1830) = Sph. montivaga Violovitsh, 1985, syn. n.; Sphaerophoria macrogaster (Thomson, 1869) = Sph. nana Violovitsh, 1976, syn. n.; Sphaerophoria chongjini Bańkowska, 1964 = Sph. tinae Violovitsh, 1976, syn. n. Sphaerophoria kamtshatica Violovitsh and Sph. sachalinica Violovitsh are regarded as nomina nuda. Sphaerophoria bankowskae Goeldlin, 1989; Sph. laurae Goeldlin, 1989; Sph. potentillae Clausssen, 1984 and Sph. turkmenica Bańkowska, 1964 are found in Russia for the first time. A taxonomic revision of the genus Teloleuca Reuter of the fauna of Russia and adjacent territories was made based on the Heteroptera collection of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). Data on the distribution of five species (T. altaica Vinokurov, T. brancziki Reuter, T. bifasciata Thomson, T. kusnezowi Lindberg, and T. pellucens Fabricius) with dotted maps and a key to the species are given. This is the first study to comprehensively address the phylogeny of the tribe Oxypodini Thomson and its phylogenetic relationships to other tribes within the staphylinid subfamily Aleocharinae. Using the hitherto largest molecular dataset of Aleocharinae comprising of 4599 bp for representatives of 22 tribes, the Oxypodini are recovered as non‐monophyletic. Members of the tribe belong to three distantly related lineages within the Aleocharinae: (i) the Amarochara group as sister clade to the tribe Aleocharini, (ii) the subtribe Tachyusina within a clade that also includes the tribes Athetini and Hygronomini, (iii) all other Oxypodini in a clade that also includes the tribes Placusini, Hoplandriini and Liparocephalini. Based on the inferred phylogeny, five subtribes of the Oxypodini are recognized: Dinardina Mulsant & Rey, Meoticina Seevers, Microglottina Fenyes, Oxypodina Thomson and Phloeoporina Thomson. The following changes in the classification of the Aleocharinae are proposed: (i) Amarochara Thomson is removed from the Oxypodini and placed in the tribe Aleocharini; (ii) the subtribe Taxicerina Lohse of the Athetini is reinstated as tribe Taxicerini to include Discerota Mulsant & Rey, Halobrecta Thomson (both removed from the Oxypodini) and Taxicera Mulsant & Rey; (iii) the subtribe Tachyusina Thomson is excluded from the Oxypodini and provisionally treated as tribe Tachyusini; (iv) the oxypodine subtribe name Blepharhymenina Klimaszewski & Peck is placed in synonymy with the subtribe name Dinardina Mulsant & Rey.  相似文献

The sequential development of Ichthyophthirius multifiliis Fouquet, 1876 at 22°C was monitored from detachment from the fish through to infective tomites using one-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Methods are described for synchronizing I. multifiliis cells to permit the collection of large numbers of cells at stages during mitotic division. The electrophoretic protein patterns of the encysted stage differ from those of the tomite stage as well as from those of the other measured intervals.  相似文献

A group of seven Polyalthia species from Borneo allied to P. cauliflora Hook. f. & Thomson is revised. Three of these are described as new. Polyalthia myristica sp. nov. and P. trochilia sp. nov. are similar to P. stenopetala (Hook. f. & Thomson) Finet & Gagnep., particularly in having seeds with a deep circumferential groove. Polyalthia kinabaluensis sp. nov., endemic to Mount Kinabalu, is similar to P. cauliflora, but differs in having petals slightly connate at the base and larger monocarps. Polyalthia ichthyosma sp. nov. is the fourth new species described. It bears some similarity to one of the P. cauliflora group, P. dictyoneura Diels, but differs in not being cauliflorous. Two synonyms of Polyalthia cauliflora, Unona desmantha Hook. f. & Thomson and Unona pycnantha Hook. f. & Thomson, are lectotypified.  相似文献

Volatile chemicals from Citrus and Salix host plants evoke orientation behavior in males of the species Anoplophora malasiaca (Thomson) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae). These chemicals are emitted from wounded branches. We hypothesized that when released, these chemicals may indicate the presence of an individual to other conspecifics. Insects that originate from different host plants may use different plant chemicals from their own host to communicate with conspecifics. To further explore this theory, we investigated this communication system in a population of A. malasiaca from a third host plant, blueberry (Vaccinium spp.). Males from a blueberry host (Vaccinium population) were attracted to the odor of wounded Vaccinium branches when released near a female model in the laboratory, as has been observed in males found on Citrus and Salix host plants. The Vaccinium branch extract that was attractive to the males was separated into six fractions, of which two were active. Three active compounds were subsequently identified: β-caryophyllene and sulfur from the hexane fraction, and (E)-phytol in the weakly polar fraction. The latter two active compounds of Vaccinium branches were different from those found in Citrus and Salix.  相似文献

The subgenus Mesocarabus Thomson, 1875 is a western Palaearctic group that currently includes five species: four of them inhabiting western Europe (Carabus lusitanicus Fabricius, 1801, Carabus problematicus Herbst, 1786, Carabus dufourii Dejean & Boisduval, 1829, and Carabus macrocephalus Dejean, 1826) and one found in the Rif Mountains in northern Morocco (Carabus riffensis Fairmaire, 1872). Representatives of Mesocarabus have been included in previous molecular phylogenetic studies, but taxon‐ or gene‐sampling limitations yielded inconclusive results regarding its monophyly and sister relationship. Here we perform molecular phylogenetic analyses based on five mitochondrial (3625 nt) and eight nuclear (5970 nt) genes sequenced in many Mesocarabus populations, and in related western Palaearctic Carabus Linnaeus, 1758. We conducted parsimony, maximum‐likelihood, and Bayesian analyses and found a well‐supported sister relationship between a monophyletic Mesocarabus with Iberian species of the subgenus Oreocarabus Géhin, 1876. Within Mesocarabus, the European species form a monophyletic lineage sister to Moroccan C. riffensis. A time‐calibrated phylogeny suggests the split between Mesocarabus and Oreocarabus occurred at 11.8 Mya (95% highest posterior density, HPD, 8.7–15.3 Mya), and the divergence between C. riffensis and European Mesocarabus at 9.5 Mya (95% HPD 7.0–12.5 Mya). The early diversification of Mesocarabus and related subgenera during the Miocene, and alternative hypotheses concerning the origin of Mesocarabus in the Iberian Peninsula and the Betic‐Riffian plate are discussed using calibration data and dispersal–vicariance biogeographic analyses. Finally, we found instances of incongruence between mitochondrial DNA and nuclear‐based phylogenies of Mesocarabus, which are hypothesized to be the result of introgressive hybridization. © 2012 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 166 , 787–804.  相似文献

For the first time, under laboratory conditions, development of the polychaete Namanereis littoralis (Grube, 1876) is investigated. Under conditions of the Sea of Japan, its reproduction occurs in July and is confined to the season of monsoon rains. Fertilization is external. Spawning manifests no epitocous transformations. Fecundity is low, ovicells are rich in yolk, and development is nonpelagic, lecithotrophic, embryonized, characterized by a high rate—5–8 days—and occurs in mucous clutches up to hatching of benthic juveniles. Temperature and salinity optima of development are 22–27°C and 16–21‰, respectively, characterizing the species as subtropical brackish-water by its origin. Archaic and specialized traits are noted in the early ontogenesis of N. littoralis.  相似文献

Based on the study of the neotype and the astogeny of the type specimens of the species Ascopora nodosa (Fischer von Waldheim, 1837), the diagnosis and species composition of the genus Ascopora Trautschold, 1876 are emended. The genus Ascopora and three species out of the five included in this genus—A. nodosa (Fischer von Waldheim, 1837); A. sokolovae Schulga-Nesterenko, 1955; and A. latiaxis Schulga-Nesterenko, 1955—are described. A new genus, Tetrasella gen. nov., with the type species T. blanda sp. nov. is described. This genus comprises five species, transferred from the composition of the genus Ascopora. An emended diagnosis of the genus Ascoporella Krutchinina, 1986, is provided. This genus comprises nine species, of which two, A. lecta sp. nov. and A. mera sp. nov., are described as new species.  相似文献
