A single dose of dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) at 20 mg/kg resulted in 100% incidence of intraductal mammary adenocarcinomas in Wistar rats, the large tumors averaging 1.87 +/- 0.45 g. gamma-Glutamyltranspeptidase activities were elevated in DMBA-induced mammary adenocarcinomas relative to lactating mammary tissue in all fractions examined: 18.8-fold in homogenates; 22.1-fold in particulate fractions; and 5.7-fold in supernatant fractions. In DMBA-induced mammary adenocarcinomas, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase was 95% particulate, 5% supernatant, whereas in lactating mammary tissue, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase was equally distributed between particulate and supernatant fractions. Particulate gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase from DMBA-induced mammary adenocarcinomas as well as lactating mammary tissue displayed classical Michaelis-Menten characteristics: for the adenocarcinoma enzyme Km was 2.5 nM and Vmax 200 nmol mg-1 min-1; for mammary tissue enzyme Km was 2.5 nM and Vmax 11.1 nmol X mg-1 X min-1. Both particulate enzymes were activated at 50 degrees C relative to 37 degrees C to the same extent: 1.37-fold. The activities of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase were increased 1.8-fold in the livers of rats bearing DMBA-induced mammary adenocarcinomas relative to age-matched controls. Plasma levels of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase were also increased 1.6-fold in tumor bearing rats. There was no observable sign of liver damage in tumor bearing rats; plasma glutamic pyruvic transaminase levels were normal in these animals. Blood glucose levels were elevated 17% in rats bearing DMBA-induced mammary adenocarcinomas compared to age-matched controls, although plasma insulin levels were the same in both groups: 35.4 +/- 3.5 microIU/ml for the former; 31.9 +/- 3.1 microIU/ml for the latter.  相似文献

Retinol esterification by microsomal acyl coenzyme A:retinol acyltransferase was quantified in rat mammary tumor and liver tissue. Acyltransferase activity in the livers of mammary tumor-bearing rats was 40% of that in normal animals. In response to daily oral doses of 2 mg retinyl acetate for 18-19 days, activity increased 2.8-fold in transplanted rat mammary tumors, 4.1-fold in the livers of tumor-bearing rats, and 1.5-fold in the livers of normal rats. The in vitro esterification of retinol was competitively inhibited by all-trans-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl) retinamide (Ki = 154 microM).  相似文献

A high fat diet fed ad libitum will promote breast tumorigenesis in rats while caloric restriction of the same high fat diet counteracts this promotional effect. The present study examined the effects of dietary fat and calorie intake on adipose tissue weight and fatty acid composition and on tumor incidence and development. The sites of adipose tissue chosen were the mammary fat pad, representing adipose tissue in the immediate location of the studied tumor, and the abdominal fat depot which in humans has been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. High (20% corn oil) and low (5% corn oil) fat test diets were offered ad libitum and at 40% restriction levels. In agreement with prior studies, caloric restriction of both high and low fat diets led to marked decreases in tumor incidence (63 to 68% versus 21%), tumor burden (1.84 to 2.05 versus 0.37 to 0.43 tumors/rat), and tumor weight (7.1 to 11.9 versus 1.4 to 2.2 g) at the time of sacrifice (133 days post-DMBA). While final body weights were reduced in proportion to the level of caloric restriction (290 to 291 g versus 184 to 201 g), abdominal fat (8.8 to 9.2 versus 0.9 to 1.6 g), and mammary fat weights (3.1 to 4.1 versus 0.7 to 2.0 g) were reduced markedly in association with the decrease in tumorigenesis. While both tumor and mammary fat were enriched with linoleate reflecting the fatty acid composition of dietary fat, the ratio of arachidonic acid to linoleic acid was higher in tumor tissue than in surrounding normal mammary tissue in both the phospholipid (0.78 versus 0.18) and neutral lipid fractions (0.22 versus 0.03). These observations are consistent with the concept that increases in fat tissue mass in abdominal and mammary fat depots may mediate some of the promotional effects of high fat and high calorie diets. Restriction of dietary fat and calories to reduce body fat and strategies to modify the composition of stored lipids in fat depots may offer nutritional approaches to breast cancer prevention and treatment.  相似文献

The object of this study was to assess the influence of high levels of dietary vitamin E on vitamin E concentrations in specific areas of the brain. Four-week-old male rats were fed vitamin E-deficient, control, and high-vitamin E (1,000 IU/kg) diets for 4 months. Concentrations of alpha-tocopherol in serum, adipose tissue, liver, cerebrum, cerebellum, and striatum were determined by liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection. In the high-vitamin E group, alpha-tocopherol concentrations in cerebrum, cerebellum, and striatum increased uniformly to 1.4-fold of values in controls; serum, adipose tissue, and liver attained even higher concentrations: 2.2-, 2.2-, and 4.6-fold, respectively, of control values. As observed before, brain levels of alpha-tocopherol were somewhat resistant to vitamin E deficiency, in contrast to the peripheral tissues.  相似文献

DNA polymerase alpha activity was markedly higher in all nuclear subfractions, including nuclear matrix, from transplanted R3230AC mammary adenocarcinomas than in the analogous fractions from mammary gland of same tumor-bearing pregnant or lactating rats. Changes in host lactational status had no significant effect on subnuclear distribution of tumor DNA polymerase alpha activity, with the majority (60-75%) localized in soluble nucleoplasm and a significant amount (13-20%) retained in the nuclear matrix. In the host mammary gland, nuclear matrix-bound DNA polymerase alpha was highest, accounting for 48% of total nuclear activity, during late pregnancy when mammary cells undergo rapid raplication. During lactation, when cells in mammary gland cease to divide, only 8% of enzyme activity was in the nuclear matrix, while the majority (60-80%) of DNA polymerase alpha activity was localized in nucleoplasm. In both R3230AC tumor and mammary gland regardless of host's lactational status, the majority (60-80%) of DNA polymerase beta activity was localized in the high salt-soluble chromatin. These present data thus suggest that, regardless of host lactational status, R3230AC tumor has many cycling cells, each with a large pool of DNA polymerase alpha molecules maintaining maximal and constant replicative activity, while normal mammary gland cells have a smaller pool of DNA polymerase alpha which become primarily matrix-bound only during active cell replication during late pregnancy. A constant localization of nuclear DNA polymerase beta in chromatin in both mammary gland and the tumor suggest it is not important in mammary cell proliferation.  相似文献

The influence of a 20% high-fat and a 4.5% control fat diet on circulating prolactin levels was determined during the estrous cycle of intact female rats, and during a progesterone-induced surge of prolactin in ovariectomized, estrogen-primed rats. An indwelling right atrial cannula was implanted into each rat to facilitate repeated blood sampling in conscious, undisturbed animals. No differences in serum prolactin levels were observed at any time during the estrous cycle or in the progesterone-induced surge of prolactin in rats fed either the high-fat or control fat diet. There also were no differences in the estrous cycles of rats on high- or low-fat diets. It is concluded that high dietary fat promotes mammary tumor development by a mechanism that does not involve alterations in circulating prolactin levels or of estrous cycles.  相似文献

The effect of ingesting isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets with increasing amounts of lipid (0-30%) and consequently decreasing amounts of carbohydrates (68.7-1.25%) on the exocrine pancreas was studied in adult male Wistar rats. Pancreatic contents of chymotrypsin, lipase and colipase activity, as well as synthesis of amylase, lipase, procarboxypeptidases and individual serine proteases were examined. Lipid-free diets and diets containing 1% lipid were found to have little effect on pancreatic proteins as compared with lipid-rich diets where two distinct patterns of response were observed. Ingestion of diets containing 3-20% lipid resulted in a progressive increase in the activity of lipase, colipase and chymotrypsin up to 2-fold in the first case and 1.6-fold in the two other cases when animals were fed the 20% fat diet. Under the latter conditions, the relative synthesis of secretory proteins, as expressed as percentage of the radioactivity incorporated into individual proteins compared to that incorporated into the total mixture of exocrine proteins, was unchanged for procarboxypeptidases, whereas it was stimulated for lipase (2-fold) and serine proteases (1.6-fold). Amylase relative synthesis progressively decreased as the lipid content of diets increased. Consumption of hyperlipidic diets containing 25% and 30% fat resulted in a further enhancement in the activity of lipase and colipase in the gland in contrast with chymotrypsin activity which was unchanged as compared to the control diet (3% lipid). As far as biosynthesis was concerned, a plateau in the relative synthesis of lipase and serine protease was reached. Amylase relative synthesis further decreased down to 2.2-fold when rats were fed the 30% fat-rich diet whereas that of procarboxypeptidases was markedly increased (about 1.7-fold). Absolute rates of synthesis of total pancreatic secretory proteins, as expressed with regard to the DNA content of the tissue, indicated that biosynthesis of all secretory pancreatic proteins was stimulated by hyperlipidic diets (at least 2-fold with the 30% lipid diet). Consequently, when such an increase was taken into consideration, the absolute synthesis of amylase was found to be unchanged throughout the dietary manipulations, whereas that of lipase, procarboxypeptidases and serine proteases were stimulated by 4.0-fold, 3.4-fold and 3.2-fold, respectively.  相似文献

To examine the effects of diabetes on the alteration of R3230AC mammary tumor growth by dietary lipids, streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were fed diets containing either 20% corn oil (HF), 20% hydrogenated cottonseed oil (HCTO), or 0% fat (FF). Diabetes resulted in lower tumor weights and body weights compared to those of intact animals. Unlike intact animals, relative tumor weight (g tumor/100 g body wt) of diabetic animals fed HF diets were not greater than those from animals fed FF diets. However, in these diabetic animals, growth of tumors in HF-fed rats was faster than in HCTO-fed rats, a relationship similar to that seen in intact rats. A surprising result was the almost twofold greater tumor weight/100 g body wt observed in diabetic FF-fed rats compared to those fed HCTO diets. Insulin binding to tumor plasma membranes from diabetic animals was higher in rats fed HF diets than in rats fed FF or HCTO diets. The tumor plasma membrane fatty acid composition of diabetic rats fed FF and HCTO diets displayed higher proportions of the monounsaturates (C18:1 and C21:1) and decreased amounts of the polyunsaturates (C18:2 and C20:4) compared to the levels observed in membranes from HF-fed rats. These results, as well as the insulin binding data, were similar to those obtained using intact animals. The data presented here indicate that the more rapid growth of the R3230AC mammary tumor seen in intact animals fed high polyunsaturated fat vs fat-free diets did not occur in diabetic animals.  相似文献

The possible association between a high fat diet and increased breast cancer risk has remained controversial. This largely reflects the conflicting data obtained from migrant, case control and animal studies, which generally support this association, and cohort studies which often fail to show a link between fat and breast cancer. The mammary gland is particularly sensitive to estrogens during the fetal development, leading us to hypothesize that dietary fat levels during this period may significantly influence breast cancer risk. Using chemically-induced mammary tumors in rats as our experimental model, we have demonstrated the ability of a maternal diet, high in the polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) linoleic acid, to alter mammary gland differentiation, accelerate the onset of sexual maturation, and increase breast cancer risk. The mammary glands of female rats exposed to a highfat diet in utero have more of the undifferentiated structures (terminal end buds) and fewer of the differentiated structures (alveolar buds) than the glands of rats exposed to a low-fat diet in utero. Furthermore, these mammary glands contain lower levels of total estrogen receptors and have reduced total protein kinase C activity. These effects appear to be mediated by an increase in tne serum estradiol levels of pregnancy, which are elevated at least 30% in pregnant dams fed a high fat diet. Furthermore, the administration of estradiol to pregnant dams produce effects on mammary gland development, onset of puberty and sensitivity to chemical carcinogenesis comparable to those seen in the offspring of rats fed a high fat diet during pregnancy. Our results, thus, support the hypothesis based on epidemiological data that high maternal estrogen levels increase daughters' breast cancer risk. The results also suggest that a high-fat diet may be an important factor in increasing pregnancy estrogenic activity.  相似文献

The cytosolic P-enolpyruvate carboxykinase activity was measured in mammary gland and liver of animals at all stages of the reproductive cycle. The specific activity of this enzyme was almost absent in the mammary gland of virgin rats. Different pattern of P-enolpyruvate carboxykinase activity was obtained in liver and mammary gland during lactation cycle. The specific activity of the enzyme increased more than 40-fold in mammary gland and 2-fold in liver during the transition from mid-pregnancy to mid-lactation. Weaning of mid-lactating rats for 48 h resulted in an abrupt change in the enzyme activity in mammary gland while there was a small change in liver. In all the experiments performed, the activity of P-enolpyruvate correlates inversely with the plasma insulin levels described for the lactogenic process.  相似文献

RNAase H, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of the RNA moiety of an RNA-DNA hybrid, was measured in the mammary gland of virgin, pregnant, lactating, and weaning Fischer rats and in the R3230AC mammary tumor grown in the same animals. In the normal mammary gland when DNA levels were low, as in the virgin state or during involution, RNAase H activity was also low. During pregnancy and lactogenesis when DNA levels increased, RNAase H activity, either on the basis of mammary gland weight or DNA content, also increased. During lactation when cellular proliferation ceases but rates of RNA and protein synthesis continue to reach peak values, RNAase H activity decreased. Compared to the corresponding enzyme from host glands, RNAase H from the R3230AC mammary tumor grown in pregnant and lactating hosts changes similarly, but to a lesser extent. The RNAase H activity which, ona tissue weight basis, was higher than in normal tissue also increased during pregnancy and directly after parturition, but decreased during lactation. During pregnancy these changes were accompanied by an increase in tumor DNA values. During lactation the tumor DNA values returned to the level seen in virgin hosts. These results are consistent with a role for RNAase H in DNA replication in rat mammary gland and in R3230Ac mammary tumor.  相似文献

Male Fischer 344 rats implanted with a methylcholanthrene-induced sarcoma (MCS), along with normal (or control) animals, were fed diets containing either 10% com oil (CO) or 2% CO + 8% fish oil (FO), designated as diets CO and FO, respectively, in a study designed to determine the effect of dietary FO on serum lipids (in the presence or absence of a tumor) and the growth and fatty acid composition of the MCS. For both diets, MCS-bearing rats had significantly (p < 0.05) higher serum levels of triglycerides, cholesterol, phospholipids, and total lipids than controls. For both controls and tumor-bearers, serum levels of all these lipids were, with the exception of cholesterol for the tumorbearers, significantly lower in rats receiving the FO diet than for the corresponding groups receiving the CO diet. Relative to rats fed the CO diet, those fed the FO diet had significantly higher serum levels of some fatty acids (e.g., 20:5n-3) but significantly lower levels of others (e.g., 18:2n-6), regardless of tumor status. For the tumor-bearers, differences in the levels of fatty acids in MCS tissue reflected differences in the fatty acid composition of total serum lipids. Sarcoma growth was unaffected by diet. Thus, feeding dietary FO resulted in changes in the lipid status of both control and tumor-bearing rats. Since sarcoma growth was unaffected by diet, the reduction in the severity of MCS-induced hyperlipidemia by FO appears to be due to an effect of the oil per se.  相似文献

To analyze simultaneously the influence attributable to calorie consumption level and percentage of dietary fat on the spontaneous development of mammary adenocarcinoma, virgin female C3H/Ou mice were separated into five dietary groups. Four groups of mice were fed purified diets either ad libitum (16-18 kcal/mouse/day) or restricted 40% in calorie consumption (10-11 kcal/mouse/day), and diets contained either 4.5%, 7.5%, 67%, or 68% calories from fat. Mice that consumed isocaloric diets developed breast malignancy at a comparable pace. Consuming a diet in which fats were present only at levels sufficient to satisfy the threshold requirement of essential fatty acids, 4.5-7.5% of the total calories, or alternatively where dietary fat represented greater than 67% of the total calories consumed, did not significantly alter the tendency for breast tumor development. The pace and frequency with which tumors occurred reflected the host's level of calorie consumption. Mice consuming a high caloric diet, low or high in fat, tended to have a shortened latency to breast tumor formation, an increased incidence of breast tumors, elevated serum prolactin levels, elevated levels of antibodies to mouse mammary tumor virus, and elevated circulating immune complex levels.  相似文献

Changes in rat mammary fat pad during pregnancy were assessed by studying differences in the morphology and composition of the pad and in the levels of proteins involved in the accumulation and mobilization of fat stores. During pregnancy, the mammary fat pad weight had increased 1.8-fold by day 20, as compared with control rats. DNA content had increased two-fold by day 13 and remained stable until day 20. Protein content showed a two-fold increase on day 20, compared with control rats. As pregnancy advanced, both the percentage of mammary gland cells with respect to the whole mammary fat pad and the size of the adipocytes increased. The specific content of the different elements of the lipolytic pathway, viz. (α2A-adrenergic receptor (AR), β3-AR, cAMP-dependent protein kinase and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL)) underwent a decrease as pregnancy progressed, although adenylate cyclase increased greatly. The lipoprotein lipase (LPL) content per gram of tissue increased with pregnancy and the HSL-to-LPL ratio reflected a continuous increase in the triglyceride storage throughout pregnancy. Thus, the mammary fat pad undergoes extensive morphological, compositional and metabolic transformation during pregnancy, attributable to the development of the mammary gland. The various elements of the lipolytic pathway and LPL undergo major changes during the development of the mammary gland focused towards the increase of fat stores and allowing the accumulation of lipid droplets in the epithelial mammary cells and an increase in adipocyte size. This work was designed to study the effect of different lipid sources on the activities of lipoprotein lipase and lipogenic enzymes in adipose tissue from rats fedad libitum or energy-controlled diets. Male Wistar rats were fed diets containing 40% of energy as fat (olive oil, sunflower oil, palm oil or beef tallow), for 4 wk. Underad libitum feeding no differences were found among dietary fat groups in final body weight, adipose tissue weights and total body fat. Under energy-controlled feeding, despite isoenergetic intake, rats fed the beef tallow diet gained significantly less weight than rats fed the other three diets. Beef tallow fed rats showed the lowest values for adipose tissue weights and total body fat. When rats had free access to food no effect of dietary lipid source on lipogenic enzyme activities was found. In contrast, under energy-controlled feeding rats fed the beef tallow diet showed significantly higher activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and fatty acid synthase than rats fed the other three diets. Heparin-releasable lipoprotein lipase activity in perirenal and subcutaneous adipose tissues was not different among rats fed olive oil, safflower oil, palm oil or beef tallow. When comparing both adipose tissue anatomical locations, significantly higher activities were found in subcutaneous than in perirenal fat pad independently of dietary fat. In conclusion, under our experimental protocol, lipogenesis in rat adipose tissue does not seem to be affected by dietary fat type.  相似文献

The ability of medium chain triglyceride-enriched total parenteral nutrition to support host tissue in a model of cancer cachexia was assessed by measuring tumor growth, body weight, nitrogen balance, energy expenditure, leucine kinetics, fractional protein synthetic rate of tumor, liver, and abdominis rectus muscle, and plasma levels of glucose and albumin. Male Sprague-Dawley rats (85-90 gm) received 10(7) cells of viable Yoshida sarcoma subcutaneously on day 0. Control rats received injections of sterile saline. On day 10 rats underwent central venous cannulation and were randomized to one of three isocaloric diets. One group received amino acids and dextrose, while the other two groups were infused with amino acids, dextrose, and fat as either long chain triglyceride or a physical mixture of medium chain triglyceride: long chain triglyceride (3:1). On day 14 L-1-(14)C-leucine was added to the diet to study protein kinetics, and energy metabolism was measured by indirect calorimetry. Both tumor-bearing and nontumor-bearing rats demonstrated improved nitrogen balance when given medium chain triglyceride-enriched total parenteral nutrition. Tumor-bearing rats had reduced resting energy expenditure vs. nontumor-bearing, while rats receiving total parenteral nutrition without fat had significantly greater respiratory quotients. Tumor-bearing rats had lower total body weight vs. nontumor-bearing on day 10, but body weight of tumor-bearing and nontumor-bearing did not differ on day 14. Whole body protein breakdown decreased and leucine balance increased in tumor-bearing rats as compared to nontumor-bearing. Total liver mass was greater in tumor-bearing rats, but liver protein fractional protein synthetic rate decreased in tumor-bearing rats vs. nontumor-bearing. Tumor growth rate and fractional protein synthetic rate were not altered by the parenteral diet. The data confirm an altered metabolism in the tumor-bearing host, and suggest that medium chain triglyceride can better support host tissue.  相似文献

We have reported previously that the concentration of vitamin A (VA) in the milk of lactating rats varies with dietary VA intake, even when plasma retinol concentration is unaffected. In the current study, we investigated the role of lipolysis in the uptake of chylomicron (CM) VA into mammary tissue of lactating rats and estimated the proportion of CM-VA that is associated with the mammary gland during CM clearance. Chylomicrons containing [(3)H]VA, mainly as retinyl esters, were prepared in donor rats and administered intravenously to lactating recipient rats. Chylomicron VA rapidly disappeared from plasma and appeared in mammary tissue (maximum within 2-3 mins), followed by a decline. Concomitantly, uptake by liver increased continuously, reaching a plateau within 20-30 mins. Active lipolysis in mammary tissue was necessary for rapid VA uptake, as significantly less CM-VA was recovered in mammary tissue of postlactating rats than of lactating rats, after heparin treatment in lactating rats, or after injection of preformed CM remnants in lactating rats. [(3)H]Vitamin A uptake by mammary tissue increased linearly with CM-VA dose over a 150-fold dose range (R(2) = 0.972, P = 0.0001), suggesting a high capacity for uptake and apparent first-order assimilation of CM-VA during CM remnant formation in situ. Model-based compartmental analysis using WinSAAM predicted that approximately 42% of CM-VA marginated, that is, were temporarily removed, from plasma to the mammary glands during lipolysis and that a total of 3.8% of CM-VA was transferred to mammary tissue. The model-predicted t(1/2) for CM remnants was 3.04 mins. The metabolism of CM-VA in the lactating mammary gland, in proportion to VA absorption and CM-VA contents, may explain how milk VA concentration varies even when plasma retinol levels are unchanged. The mechanism of CM margination and mammary gland uptake described here for VA may be similar for other lipophilic substances.  相似文献

Maternal metabolic and nutrient trafficking adaptations to lactation differ among lean and obese mice fed a high fat (HF) diet. Obesity is thought to impair milk lipid production, in part, by decreasing trafficking of dietary and de novo synthesized lipids to the mammary gland. Here, we report that de novo lipogenesis regulatory mechanisms are disrupted in mammary glands of lactating HF-fed obese (HF-Ob) mice. HF feeding decreased the total levels of acetyl-CoA carboxylase-1 (ACC), and this effect was exacerbated in obese mice. The relative levels of phosphorylated (inactive) ACC, were elevated in the epithelium, and decreased in the adipose stroma, of mammary tissue from HF-Ob mice compared to those of HF-fed lean (HF-Ln) mice. Mammary gland levels of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which catalyzes formation of inactive ACC, were also selectively elevated in mammary glands of HF-Ob relative to HF-Ln dams or to low fat fed dams. These responses correlated with evidence of increased lipid retention in mammary adipose, and decreased lipid levels in mammary epithelial cells, of HF-Ob dams. Collectively, our data suggests that maternal obesity impairs milk lipid production, in part, by disrupting the balance of de novo lipid synthesis in the epithelial and adipose stromal compartments of mammary tissue through processes that appear to be related to increased mammary gland AMPK activity, ACC inhibition, and decreased fatty acid synthesis.  相似文献

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and adipokines have been implicated in breast cancer. This study investigated a possible link between COX-2 and adipokines in the development of mammary tumors. A model of environmental enrichment (EE), known to reduce tumor growth was used for a syngeneic murine model of mammary carcinoma. 3-week-old, female C57BL/6 mice were housed in standard environment (SE) or EE cages for 9 weeks and transplanted orthotopically with syngeneic EO771 adenocarcinoma cells into the right inguinal mammary fat pad. EE housing influenced mammary gland development with a decrease in COX-2 expressing cells and enhanced side-branching and advanced development of alveolar structures of the mammary gland. Tumor volume and weight were decreased in EE housed mice and were associated with a reduction in COX-2 and Ki67 levels, and an increase in caspase-3 levels. In tumors of SE mice, high COX-2 expression correlated with enhanced leptin detection. Non-tumor-bearing EE mice showed a significant increase in adiponectin levels but no change in those of leptin, F2-isoprostanes, PGF, IL-6, TNF-α, PAI-1, and MCP-1 levels. Both tumor-bearing groups (SE and EE housing) had increased resistin, IL-6, TNF-α, PAI-1 and MCP-1 levels irrespective of the different housing environment demonstrating higher inflammatory response due to the presence of the tumor. This study demonstrates that EE housing influenced normal mammary gland development and inhibited mammary tumor growth resulting in a marked decrease in intratumoral COX-2 activity and an increase in the plasma ratio of adiponectin/leptin levels.  相似文献
