The study of imprints of fossil plants collected in the Permian from the country of Hammanskraal (Namibia) leads to the following identifications: Glossopteris sp., Gangamopteris sp., Noegerrathiopsis sp., Gondwanidium sp., Asterotheca sp. and Lycopodiopsis derbyiB. Renault, Lycopodiopsis costilatus n. sp., Brasilodendron pedroanum(W. Carruthers) W.G. Chaloner & alii, Brasilodendron africanum n. sp. This flora has affinities with some fossil floras from South Africa and from Brazil, and is, probably, of upper Permian age.  相似文献

Equisetum filum sp. nov. is described on compressed stems from the Bajocian, Middle Jurassic, of Yorkshire, northeast England. Its cuticle was known earlier as fragments called “Equisetum sp. A.” E. filum has slender unbranched stems which agree in many details with living species but differ in a few points. The free leaves bear stomata and seem to be solid. The internode has an unusual layer of subepidermal sclerids and seems to have no large internal air spaces. It contracts strongly at its base and the sheath enclosing it is corresponding thick.  相似文献

New specimens from Cenomanian outcrops of Lebanon permit redescribtion of the first eel-like fossil fishes. Anguillavus bathshebaeHay, 1903 becomes synonymous with the type species A. quadripinnisHay, 1903. A new fossil eel with pelvic fins, Anguillavus mazeni nov. sp., is furthermore proposed. In the same way, the revision of Luenchelys minimus nov. gen., nov. sp., reveals some morphological variations at the specific level and a widespread biogeographical repartition which potentially can be important. This whole anatomical revision is a necessary basis for integrating these fossils into the Anguilliformes (Teleostei, Elopomorpha) and gives an idea of the plesiomorphic structural pattern of the order, in which the modern forms are particularly specialised.  相似文献

In a survey of rhizobia associated with the native legumes in Yunnan Province, China, seven and nine strains isolated from the root nodules of Psoralea corylifolia, Sesbania cannabina and Medicago lupulina were respectively classified into the novel genomic species groups I and II in the genus Ensifer (former Sinorhizobium) based on the sequence analyses of the 16S rRNA gene. Analyses of concatenated housekeeping genes (atpD, recA and glnII) further revealed that they were distinct lineages in the genus, and group I was most similar to Ensifer terangae and Ensifer garamanticus (both with 94.2% similarity), while group II was most similar to Ensifer adhaerens (94.0%). These groups could be distinguished from closely related species by DNA–DNA relatedness, MALID-TOF MS, cellular fatty acid profiles and a series of phenotypic characters. Therefore, two novel species were proposed: Ensifer psoraleae sp. nov. (seven strains, type strain CCBAU 65732T = LMG 26835T = HAMBI 3286T) and Ensifer sesbaniae sp. nov. (nine strains, type strain CCBAU 65729T = LMG 26833T = HAMBI 3287T). They had a DNA G + C mol% (Tm) of 58.9 and 60.4, respectively. Both of the type strains formed effective nodules on common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and their hosts of origin. In addition, the previously described species Sinorhizobium morelense and Sinorhizobium americanum were renamed as Ensifer morelense comb. nov. and Ensifer americanum comb. nov. according to the accumulated data from different studies.  相似文献

A new fossil species of Leguminosae is described from Neogene of northwest of Argentina. The good preservation of tissues and the diagnostic characters present in this fossil wood let assigning it to a new species of Gleditisioxylon Müller-Stoll and Madel. Gleditisioxylon riojana nov. sp. (Caesalpinoideae) has diagnostic features such as: growth rings distinct, semi-annular porosity, vestured pits, helical thickenings, simple plates, paratracheal parenchyma and rays 1-6 seriate. The possible climatic conditions of Toro Negro Formation were inferred by the use of xylological characters presents in this fossil wood. The presence of Gleditsioxylon added to other data, suggest a new hypothesis to explain the disjunction of Gleditsia L. genus and the occurrence of a single extant species in tropical and subtropical South America.  相似文献

Foliar cuticle of a new species of Ruflorinia, R. orlandoi Carrizo et Del Fueyo, from the Lower Cretaceous Springhill Formation in Santa Cruz province, Argentina, is herein described with light and electronic (scanning and transmission) microscopy. The fronds of R. orlandoi nov. sp. are bipinnate and imparipinnate with a conspicuous main rachis bearing alternate to sub-opposite pinnae. Cuticular striations and hairs are present in both epidermises whereas stomata are only on the abaxial cuticle. Stomata have several papillate subsidiary cells and the guard cells are sunken. Ultrastructurally the adaxial and abaxial cuticles are composed of three and two cuticular layers, respectively. The cuticular characters here described are interpreted as a response to a possible adaptation to a wet climate as well as to the fluctuating environment produced by the gradual transition from fluvial to an estuarine and marine setting that characterizes the Springhill Formation. The discovery of this new species allows expanding the previous knowledge of the paleofloristic composition of the Springhill Formation with the addition of the first pteridospermous megafossil described for this formation. Moreover, the record of Ruflorinia orlandoi nov. sp. in the Springhill Formation highlights the importance of the Caytoniales during the Cretaceous in Patagonia.  相似文献

The genus Chlamydomyzium is a little studied holocarpic oomycete parasite of nematodes of uncertain phylogenetic and taxonomic position. A new holocarpic species, Chlamydomyzium dictyuchoides, is described which has usually refractile cytoplasm and a dictyuchoid pattern of spore release. This new species infects bacteriotrophic rhabditid nematodes and was isolated from diverse geographical locations. Infection was initiated by zoospore encystment on the host surface and direct penetration of the cuticle. A sparsely branched, constricted, refractile thallus was formed which eventually occupied almost the entire host body cavity, often accompanied by complete dissolution of the host cuticle. Walled primary cysts formed throughout the thallus and each cyst released a single zoospore via an individual exit papillum, leaving a characteristic dictyuchoid wall net behind. At later stages of infection some thalli formed thick-walled stellate resting spores in uniseriate rows. Resting spore formation appeared to be parthenogenetic and was not accompanied by the formation of antheridial compartments. These spores had ooplast-like vacuoles and thick multi-layered walls, both of which suggest they were oospores. The maximum likelihood tree of sequences of the small ribosomal subunit (SSU) gene placed this new isolate in a clade before the main saprolegnialean and peronosporalean lines diverge. A second undescribed Chlamydomyzium sp., which has direct spore release forms a paraphyletic clade, close to C. dictyuchoides and Sapromyces. The fine structure of other documented Chlamydomyzium species was compared, including an undescribed (but sequenced) isolate, SL02, from Japan, Chlamydomyzium anomalum and Chlamydomyzium oviparasiticum. Chlamydomyzium as currently constituted is a paraphyletic genus that is part of a group of phylogenetically problematic early diverging clades that lie close to both the Leptomitales and Rhipidiales.  相似文献

The phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of fourteen human clinical Achromobacter strains representing four genogroups which were delineated by sequence analysis of nusA, eno, rpoB, gltB, lepA, nuoL and nrdA loci, demonstrated that they represent four novel Achromobacter species. The present study also characterized and provided two additional reference strains for Achromobacter ruhlandii and Achromobacter marplatensis, species for which, thus far, only single strains are publicly available, and further validated the use of 2.1% concatenated nusA, eno, rpoB, gltB, lepA, nuoL and nrdA sequence divergence as a threshold value for species delineation in this genus. Finally, although most Achromobacter species can be distinguished by biochemical characteristics, the present study also highlighted considerable phenotypic intraspecies variability and demonstrated that the type strains may be phenotypically poor representatives of the species. We propose to classify the fourteen human clinical strains as Achromobacter mucicolens sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26685T [=CCUG 61961T] as the type strain), Achromobacter animicus sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26690T [=CCUG 61966T] as the type strain), Achromobacter spiritinus sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26692T [=CCUG 61968T] as the type strain), and Achromobacter pulmonis sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26696T [=CCUG 61972T] as the type strain).  相似文献

The sclerotization of cuticle in two species of beetles, Pachynoda epphipiata and Tenebrio molitor, has been investigated and compared with the sclerotization in the locust, Schistocerca gregaria. Two types of sclerotization, β-sclerotization and quinone tanning, occur in all three species. The main type is β-sclerotization, i.e. cross-linking of proteins by means of N-acetyldopamine which is connected to the proteins through the β-position of its side chain. β-Sclerotization is completed in P. epphipiata when it leaves its cocoon, whereas in adult locusts and in adult Tenebrio β-sclerotization continues for several weeks. The cuticle of all three species contains an insoluble enzyme which activates the β-position of N-acetyldopamine and is presumably responsible for the formation of the cross-links. Locust cuticle contains also small amounts of another enzyme which activates the aromatic ring of N-acetyldopamine, resulting in the formation of an o-quinone, which may be involved in quinone tanning of the cuticle. At emergence adult Tenebrio cuticle is rich in both enzymes, but the quinone-forming enzyme is inactivated after a few days, whereas the β-enzyme first decreases and later increases in activity, so that the β-enzyme is the dominating activity in the cuticle of mature adult Tenebrio. The quinone-forming enzyme is presumably responsible for the formation of the brown colour of Tenebrio exocuticle. The exocuticle of adult beetles contains 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, which, although it is not easily extracted from the cuticle, is not covalently bound to cuticular components. In Tenebrio it appears in the cuticle a few days after the final ecdysis. The amino acid compositions of both larval, pupal, and adult cuticle from P. epphipiata have been determined, and they are compared with the composition of the cuticle of the corresponding stages of Tenebrio.  相似文献

Four strains (M15∅_3, M17T, M49 and R37T) were isolated from Mediterranean seawater at Malvarrosa beach, Valencia, Spain. Together with an older preserved isolate (strain 2OM6) from cultured oysters at Vinaroz, Castellón, Spain, the strains were thoroughly characterized in a polyphasic study and were placed phylogenetically within the Roseobacter clade in the family Rhodobacteraceae. Highest 16S rRNA sequence similarities of the five strains to the types of any established species corresponded to Tropicibacter multivorans (95.8–96.4%), Phaeobacter inhibens (95.9–96.3%) and Phaeobacter gallaeciensis (95.9–96.2%). On the other hand, whole genome (ANI) and protein fingerprinting (MALDI-TOF) data proved: (i) non clonality among the strains, and (ii) the existence of two genospecies, one consisting of strains M15∅_3, M17T, M49 and 2OM6 and another one consisting of strain R37T. Phenotypic traits determined allow differentiating both genospecies from each other and from closely related taxa. In view of all data collected we propose to accommodate these isolates in two species as members of the genus Tropicibacter, Tropicibacter mediterraneus sp. nov. (type strain M17T = CECT 7615T = KCTC 23058T) and Tropicibacter litoreus sp. nov. (type strain R37T = CECT 7639T = KCTC 23353T).  相似文献

The siliceous valves from species of Tetracyclus (Bacillariophyceae) have variable but characteristic shapes. In this paper, species characterised by having valves with a central constriction are discussed. This distinctive shape occurs during only a period of its lifecycle. Tetracyclus constrictus and Tetracyclus celatom have been applied to fossil specimens occurring in deposits from the west coast of the USA and the east coast of Russia. Do these names apply to two closely related species or are they one and the same taxon? Two further species, Tetracyclus javanicus and Tetracyclus peragalli, have been involved in the identity of T. constrictusT. celatom. T. constrictus M. Peragallo is the correct name and author for specimens of the extinct Miocene, circum-Pacific (or northern) fossil species with valves panduriform with rounded poles; T. javanicus refers to a species found living on Java only; fossil specimens usually referred to T. javanicus (Java) belong to a new taxon, Tetracyclus bradburyii (USA); T. peragalli is an extinct Miocene fossil, with a northern hemisphere distribution; small (≤10 μm) circular/elliptical fossil specimens, found alongside other specimens, are difficult (if not impossible) to determine to species level.  相似文献

Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic bacteria were isolated from symptomatic oak tissue in the UK and USA. Partial gyrB sequencing placed ten strains in the genus Brenneria, with B. goodwinii as the closest phylogenetic relative. The strains were investigated further using a polyphasic approach including MLSA (based on partial gyrB, rpoB, infB and atpD gene sequences), 16S rRNA gene sequencing, DNA–DNA relatedness studies and both phenotypic and chemotaxonomic assays. The MLSA and 16S rRNA gene analyses separated the strains into two groups based on origin, suggesting that they belong to Brenneria as two novel species. However, the DNA–DNA relatedness values revealed a closer relationship between the groups and indicated that they should belong to the same species. As the two groups of strains from the UK and USA can be differentiated from each other phenotypically and by ERIC PCR fingerprints, it is proposed to classify them as novel subspecies of a novel Brenneria species. The name Brenneria roseae sp. nov. (FRB 222T = LMG 27714T = NCPPB 4581T) is proposed, with Brenneria roseae subsp. roseae ssp. nov. (FRB 222T = LMG 27714T = NCPPB 4581T) for the strains from the UK and Brenneria roseae subsp. americana ssp. nov. (FRB 223T = LMG 27715T = NCPPB 4582T) for the strains from the USA.  相似文献

Yanliaoa is a common fossil in the Middle Jurassic of western Liaoning, eastern Inner Mongolia and northern Hebei Province, China. It is an important element of the Yanliao biota. The genus was established by Pan in 1977 for fossil plants from the Middle Jurassic Haifanggou Formation in Xiasanjiaochengzi, western Liaoning Province, and in present paper, the genus Yanliaoa is studied based on new material. Pan never designated a type specimen and his fossil material cannot be located. We designate a type specimen here for Yanliaoa, so that the genus name Yanliaoa remains valid. Yanliaoa sinensis Pan emend. Tan et al., is found in the same locality and formation as the lost specimens, Y. sinensis of Pan, 1977. Yanliaoa daohugouensis n. sp., a new species with epidermal anatomy, is from the Middle Jurassic Daohugou, Inner Mongolia. A holotype is also selected from the new material for this new species. Characters of the leafy shoots and ovulate cones of Yanliaoa are emended. The epidermal anatomy of this genus is described for the first time. Compared with other extant and extinct species of Cupressaceae s. l., the current species can be distinguished from any known species both by the leafy shoot characters and its epidermal anatomy. It further indicates that Yanliaoa is an extinct and endemic conifer found in the Middle Jurassic of northeastern China.  相似文献

Three strains recovered from mussels (F26), sewage (SW28-13T) and pork meat (F41T) were characterized as Arcobacter. They did not appear to resemble any known species on the basis of their 16S rDNA-RFLP patterns and the rpoB gene analyses. However, strains F26 and SW28-13T appeared to be the same species. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of strains SW28-13T and F41T to the type strains of all other Arcobacter species ranged from 94.1% to 99.6% and 93.4% to 98.8%, respectively. Phenotypic characteristics and the DNA–DNA hybridization (DDH) results showed that they belonged to 2 new Arcobacter species. A multilocus phylogenetic analysis (MLPA) with the concatenated sequences of 5 housekeeping genes (gyrA, atpA, rpoB, gyrB and hsp60) was used for the first time in the genus, showing concordance with the 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis and DDH results. The MALDI-TOF mass spectra also discriminated these strains as two new species. The names proposed for them are Arcobacter cloacae with the type strain SW28-13T (=CECT 7834T = LMG 26153T) and Arcobacter suis with the type strain F41T (=CECT 7833T = LMG 26152T).  相似文献

The taxonomic positions of five Gram-negative, non-spore-forming and non-motile bacterial strains isolated from the rhizosphere of sand dune plants were examined using a polyphasic approach. The analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that all of the isolates fell into four distinct phylogenetic clusters belonging to the genus Chryseobacterium of the family Flavobacteriaceae. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of isolates to mostly related type strains of Chryseobacterium ranged from 97.5% to 98.5%. All strains contained MK-6 as the predominant menaquinone, and iso-C15:0, iso-C17:0 3-OH and a summed feature of iso-C15:0 2-OH and/or C16:1 ω7c as the dominant fatty acids. Combined phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic data supported that they represented four novel species in the genus Chryseobacterium, for which the names Chryseobacterium hagamense sp. nov. (type strain RHA2-9T=KCTC 22545T=NBRC 105253T), Chryseobacterium elymi sp. nov. (type strain RHA3-1T=KCTC 22547T=NBRC 105251T), Chryseobacterium lathyri sp. nov. (type strain RBA2-6T=KCTC 22544T=NBRC 105250T), and Chryseobacterium rhizosphaerae sp. nov. (type strain RSB3-1T=KCTC 22548T=NBRC 105248T) are proposed.  相似文献

Thirteen coagulase-negative, oxidase-negative, and novobiocin-susceptible staphylococci were isolated from human clinical specimens. The isolates were differentiated from known staphylococcal species on the basis of 16S rRNA, hsp60, rpoB, dnaJ, tuf, and gap gene sequencing, automated ribotyping, (GTG)5-PCR fingerprinting, and MALDI-TOF MS analysis. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated phylogenetic relatedness of the analyzed strains to Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus devriesei, and Staphylococcus lugdunensis. DNA–DNA hybridization experiments between representative strains CCM 8418T, CCM 8421T, and the closest phylogenetic neighbors confirmed that the isolates represent novel Staphylococcus species, for which the name Staphylococcus petrasii sp. nov. is proposed. Genotypic and phenotypic analyses unambiguously split the strains into two closely related subclusters. Based on the results, two novel subspecies S. petrasii subsp. petrasii subsp. nov. and S. petrasii subsp. croceilyticus subsp. nov. are proposed, with type strains CCM 8418T (=CCUG 62727T) and CCM 8421T (=CCUG 62728T), respectively.  相似文献

The phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of seventeen Achromobacter strains representing MLST genogroups 2, 5, 7 and 14 were examined. Although genogroup 2 and 14 strains shared a DNA–DNA hybridization level of about 70%, the type strains of both genogroups differed in numerous biochemical characteristics and all genogroup 2 and 14 strains could by distinguished by nitrite reduction, denitrification and growth on acetamide. Given the MLST sequence divergence which identified genogroups 2 and 14 as clearly distinct populations, the availability of nrdA sequence analysis as a single locus identification tool for all Achromobacter species and genogroups, and the differential phenotypic characteristics, we propose to formally classify Achromobacter genogroups 2, 5, 7 and 14 as four novel Achromobacter species for which we propose the names Achromobacter insuavis sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26845T [= CCUG 62426T] as the type strain), Achromobacter aegrifaciens sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26852T [= CCUG 62438T] as the type strain), Achromobacter anxifer sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26857T [= CCUG 62444T] as the type strain), and Achromobacter dolens sp. nov. (with strain LMG 26840T [= CCUG 62421T] as the type strain).  相似文献

Two Gram-staining-negative, moderately halophilic bacteria, strains M1-18T and L1-16, were isolated from a saltern located in Huelva (Spain). They were motile, strictly aerobic rods, growing in the presence of 3–25% (w/v) NaCl (optimal growth at 7.5–10% [w/v] NaCl), between pH 4.0 and 9.0 (optimal at pH 6.0–7.0) and at temperatures between 15 and 40 °C (optimal at 37 °C). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison showed that both strains showed the higher similarity values with Chromohalobacter israelensis ATCC 43985T (95.2–94.8%) and Chromohalobacter salexigens DSM 3043T (95.0–94.9%), and similarity values lower than 94.6% with other species of the genera Chromohalobacter, Kushneria, Cobetia or Halomonas. Multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) based on the partial sequences of atpA, rpoD and secA housekeeping genes indicated that the new isolates formed an independent and monophyletic branch that was related to the peripheral genera of the family Halomonadaceae, Halotalea, Carnimonas and Zymobacter, supporting their placement as a new genus of the Halomonadaceae. The DNA–DNA hybridization between both strains was 82%, whereas the values between strain M1-18T and the most closely related species of Chromohalobacter and Kushneria were equal or lower to 48%. The major cellular fatty acids were C18:1ω7c/C18:1ω6c, C16:0, and C16:1ω7c/C16:1ω6c, a profile that differentiate this new taxon from species of the related genera. We propose the placement of both strains as a novel genus and species, within the family Halomonadaceae, with the name Larsenia salina gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is M1-18T (= CCM 8464 = CECT 8192T = IBRC-M 10767T = LMG 27461T).  相似文献
