Various yeasts such as two strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Saccharomyces diastaticus, and Kluyveromyces marxianus were investigated for their ability to ferment fodder beet juice to alcohol. Juice extracted from fodder beet roots without any additives was used as a fermentation substrate. The fermentation kinetic parameters were determined and compared for each species of yeast tested. The best species for fodder beet juice fermentation was chosen and products obtained by fermentation of one hectare of fodder beet plants are given.  相似文献

Biochemical functions of certain amino acids and their role in improving fodder protein are described. Different aspects of biological significance of proteins and methods of its increase are discussed. It is indicated that concentrates prepared from green plants and starch- and cellulose-containing materials proteinized under the action of microorganisms can be used as an additional source of fodder protein. It is demonstrated that lysine and tryptophane concentrates can be effectively applied to raise the nutrient properties of fodder protein. The data are presented concerning the relations between protein and vitamin nutrition, as well as vitamin absorption and transport depending on the acceptor and receptor proteins of blood and tissues.  相似文献

The protein hydrolysates of two types, fodder and for microbiological medium, have been obtained in vitro, using protein containing wastes of Iceland scallop fishery (WSF) and enzyme preparation from the red king crab hepatopancreas. The degree of protein degradation and composition of obtained hydrolysates were analyzed. Intensive protein hydrolysis was necessary to obtain the microbiological diagnostic cultural media that fit trophic requirements for 12 microbial test-cultures. Addition of the fodder protein hydrolysate to diet of juvenile salmons Salmo salar during mixed feeding produces a positive effect on their survival; the 5 and 20% replacement of fish flour by the fodder hydrolysate results in a reduction of fish mortality by 21 and 57%, respectively. The living weight of chickens increased by 15% after substitution of the 10% fish flour by the fodder WSF hydrolysate in their diet. The results obtained can be explained by a more effective assimilation of partly hydrolyzed proteins in comparison with native ones.  相似文献

Conditions necessary for the isolation and culture of protoplasts from suspension cultures of sugar, fodder and garden beets were investigated. Good yields of protoplasts were obtained by treating cells with a mixture of cellulase, Macerozyme and Driselase enzymes. Nutritional requirements of beet protoplasts were found to be quite simple: protoplasts could be cultured in MS, B5 or PGo based media with 0.4 M glucose with the optimum result being produced on KM8p medium. 为探讨硒对氟中毒大鼠肝、肾自由基代谢的影响,两组Wistar大鼠饮1.58 mmol/L和2.63 mmol/L高氟水;饮高氟水的同时加饲2.0 mg/kg硒饲料;饮氟水7个月后加饲硒饲料.实验14个月时用低温电子自旋共振(ESR)技术测其肝、肾活性氧自由基(FR)含量;同时测氟(F)、硒(Se)含量;谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GSH-Px)、超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性和脂质过氧化物(LPO)含量.结果:氟中毒大鼠在肝、肾氟升高的同时,FR和LPO上升,GSH-Px、SOD下降.在氟中毒不同时期投硒,大鼠肝、肾氟降低,FR和LPO减少,抗氧化酶活性恢复.表明硒不但可拮抗大鼠体内的高氟,还可纠正高氟造成的自由基代谢紊乱.  相似文献

This paper presents an in vitro test to screen the pathogenicity of different Rhizoctonia solani isolates on a host range. The level of aggressivity of the different isolates was different for several host plants tested. There were significant differences between the crops and the isolates tested. In general, the disease level was higher on beans, lettuce and cabbage. In carrot and rye grass the level of infection was lower for the isolates of R. solani tested. The potato isolates of R. solani were less aggressive than the isolates coming from maize, fodder beet and sugar beet. The R. solani isolates were also biochemically characterized by pectic zymograms: the isolates Rs0401 (from maize) and Rs0504 (from sugar beet) belong both to the anastomosis group AG2-2.  相似文献

从硇洲岛和徐闻珊瑚礁自然保护区潮间带采集的海水和沉积物样品中分离培养海洋微藻, 筛选其中富含多糖、脂类或蛋白质的藻株。采用形态学观察、18S rDNA序列比较及其系统发育分析法, 对分离培养的海洋微藻及其富含多糖、脂类或蛋白质的藻株进行分类鉴定和生物多样性分析。分离、培养、鉴定并储藏了189株海洋微藻, 归属于65个种, 分布于硅藻门(Bacillariophyta)、绿藻门(Chlorophyta)、定鞭藻门(Haptophyta)和红藻门(Rhodophyta)的9纲、25目、30个科、38个属; 其中多糖含量较高的46株海洋微藻, 分布于25个种, 20个属; 脂类含量较高的46株海洋微藻, 分布于32个种, 15个属; 蛋白含量较高的46株海洋微藻, 分布于28个种, 18个属。结果表明硇洲岛和徐闻珊瑚礁自然保护区潮间带可培养的海洋微藻及其富含多糖、脂类和蛋白质藻株的物种多样性丰富, 在新型药物、活性天然产物、功能食品和饲料及其添加剂的发掘等方面具有良好前景。  相似文献

Fuel ethanol (95%) was produced from fodder beets in two farm-scale processes. In the first process, involving conventional submerged fermentation of the fodder beets in a mash, ethanol and a feed (PF) rich in protein, fat, and fiber were produced. Ethanol yields of 70 L/metric ton (7 gal/ton) were obtained; however, resulting beers had low ethanol concentrations [3-5% (v/v)]. The high viscosity of medium and low sugar, beet mashes caused mixing problems which prevented any further increase of beet sugar in the mash. The severely limited the maximum attainable ethanol concentration during fermentation, thereby making the beer costly to distill into fuel ethanol and the process energy inefficient. In order to achieve distillably worthwhile ethanol concentrations of 8-10% (v/v), we developed and tested a solid-phase fermentation process (continuous). In preliminary trials, this system produced fermented pulp with over 8% (v/v) ethanol corresponding to an ethanol yield of 87 L/metric ton (21 gal/ton). Production costs with this novel process are $0.47/L ($1.77/gal) and the energy balance is 2.11. These preliminary cost estimates indicate that fodder beets are potentially competitive with corn as an ethanol feedstock. Additional research, however, is warranted to more precisely refine individual costs, energy balances and the actual value of the PF.  相似文献

This study examined the feasibility of producing hydrogen by direct fermentation of fodder maize, chicory fructooligosaccharides and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) in batch culture (pH 5.2-5.3, 35 degrees C, heat-treated anaerobically digested sludge inoculum). Gas was produced from each substrate and contained up to 50-80% hydrogen during the peak periods of gas production with the remainder carbon dioxide. Hydrogen yields obtained were 62.4+/-6.1mL/g dry matter added for fodder maize, 218+/-28mL/g chicory fructooligosaccharides added, 75.6+/-8.8mL H(2)/g dry matter added for wilted perennial ryegrass and 21.8+/-8mL H(2)/g dry matter added for fresh perennial ryegrass. Butyrate, acetate and ethanol were the main soluble fermentation products. Hydrogen yields of 392-501m(3)/hectare of perennial ryegrass per year and 1060-1309m(3)/hectare of fodder maize per year can be obtained based on the UK annual yield per hectare of these crops. These results significantly extend the range of substrates that can be used for hydrogen production without pre-treatment.  相似文献

An enzyme immunoassay (EIA) system for the detection of fodder yeast antigens in the air of production areas at fodder protein producing plants has been developed. The method has proved to be highly sensitive and specific and shows advantages in comparison with the nonspecific method of low sensitivity, currently used at such plants. The sensitivity of solid-phase EIA techniques is 0.001 micrograms/ml (for protein) or 10(2)-10(3) cells/ml, and 10 ng/ml for soluble antigen. No cross reactions with bakers' yeast antigen have been observed.  相似文献

More than 50% of Nepal’s population lives in the hill regions, usually with small land holdings, and over 60% are considered below the poverty line. Livestock, and particularly goats, provide these small-scale farmers with about 55% of their on-farm income. We studied goat production in Katteldanda, a mid-hill village of 78 households, mainly Brahmins, in Ghorka District. Subsistence farmers raise six or seven goats and one or two buffalo, and cultivate mainly maize, millet and rice. Tree fodder constituted about 70% of dry matter intake of goats for large parts of the year and was collected by lopping branches from trees on upland, rain-watered, private terraces (bari) near the household compound. Local farmers ranked the fodder trees they considered best and we measured the actual fodder they offered to goats. In addition, we evaluated and ranked 23 fodder species on the basis of laboratory in vitro nutritional and metabolizable energy yields. Using a Mantel test, a significant correlation was found between what the farmers thought was best fodder and fodder offered to goats (Mantel r = 0.398; P = 0.037) but non-significant correlations were found between either what the farmers thought was best fodder or fodder offered to goats and laboratory rankings (Mantel r = −0.027; P = 0.49 and Mantel r = 0.187; P = 0.18, respectively). We concluded that biomass produced and availability throughout the year, in addition to nutritional and energy yield, are important criteria for selecting fodder trees for goat production.  相似文献

We have isolated the gene encoding a methionine-rich 10-kDa zein protein from a lambda EMBL3 maize genomic 'mini' library of the inbred line BSSS-53 and determined its nucleotide sequence. The sequence matches perfectly with a cDNA clone from the inbred line W22 (which has the same restriction fragment length polymorphism as many inbred lines tested) indicating that we have isolated a functional storage protein gene that is very conserved in maize. This comparison also excludes any splicing of any precursor mRNA and therefore any presence of introns. A number of potential regulatory sequences have been located in the flanking regions. The 10-kDa-zein gene represents the last size class in the zein multigene family to be characterized. Its structure allows us now to re-examine the relationship of all the zein proteins and also to compare the structure of a new class of storage proteins that are rich in methionine, an essential amino acid in livestock fodder.  相似文献

CapsuleExtensive surveys highlighted the importance of weedy fodder brassicas, stubbles and open farmland landscapes to declining birds.

Aims To determine habitat associations of seed-eating passerines on Scottish farmland in winter, and recommend appropriate conservation measures.

Methods Transect surveys were carried out on farmland in 100 1-km squares, containing 2885 fields, across Scotland. Birds, crops, field boundary features and weeds were recorded on three visits. Bird–habitat associations were examined using logistic regression models.

Results Seed-eating passerines were highly concentrated: 100 fields (1.4% of the area surveyed) held half the total count. The highest field densities of birds were recorded in fodder brassica crops and stubbles, averaging 12 and 3.3 birds/ha respectively. In fodder crops, weedier fields held many more birds. Multiple regression analysis emphasized the importance of fodder crops, stubbles and farmyards and suggested that declining bird species preferred more open landscapes. Several bird species were associated with fields containing very weedy patches, and/or weeds of the family Chenopodiaceae. These features were commonest in fodder brassicas. Many of the crop types found to be important as bird habitats in winter have declined in area in Scotland; the availability of seed food in such habitats may also have diminished. Such changes may partly explain recent population declines.

Conclusions Agri-environment measures for seed-eating passerines should support the widespread provision of small areas of seed-rich wintering habitats, such as weedy fodder brassicas and stubbles, especially in open (0–10% woodland and scrub) landscapes in areas with mild winters.  相似文献

A 131-day rotational grazing experiment was conducted in the summer autumn of 2007/2008 to compare effects of feeding condensed tannin (CT)-containing willow (Salix spp.) fodder blocks (i.e., silvopastoral system) or perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne)/white clover (Trifolium repens) control pasture upon the immune response to gastrointestinal nematode parasite infection in Romney weaned lambs. Groups of lambs (n = 40) were allocated to either willow fodder blocks or control pasture; half of each group (n = 20) were regularly-drenched with anthelmintic at approximately 21 day intervals, whilst the remaining 20 weaned lambs were not drenched unless pre-determined faecal nematode egg counts (FEC) were reached, when all weaned lambs in that group were drenched with anthelmintic (i.e., trigger-drenching). Metabolizable energy and CT concentrations were higher in willow fodder versus pasture herbages. Weaned lambs grazing willow fodder blocks had lower live weight gain (92 g/day) and carcass weight (14.4 kg) than those grazing control pasture (134 g; 15.3 kg), with no effect of anthelmintic drenching. Regular anthelmintic treatment maintained similar and low FEC up to day 82, which then increased, whilst trigger-drenched lambs grazing willow fodder blocks had higher FEC than lambs grazing control pasture on three out of eight occasions. As judged by faecal larval cultures, grazing willow fodder blocks reduced the relative proportions of abomasal-dwelling parasites (Haemonchus contortus and Teladorsagia spp.). Trigger-drenched willow fodder block-fed sheep had higher platelet, eosinophil, total white blood cell and lymphocyte counts, greater CD21+ and greater γδ (Gamma Delta) TCR+ (T cell receptor) lymphocyte subsets than control pasture-fed sheep, and higher plasma levels of Immunoglobulin A (IgA) specific for carbohydrate larval antigen (CarLa) on day 105 (P<0.001). None of these parameters were affected by grazing treatment in regularly-drenched lambs. Higher immunological measurements in trigger-drenched lambs grazing willow fodder blocks could be due to higher larval intake and/or to the effects of secondary compounds in willow fodder blocks priming the immune system. Maize is an important fodder resource for ruminants. The yield and quality of fodder is governed by genetic variability and interaction of genotypes with environment. Therefore, it is prerequisite to evaluate the available variability for fodder traits in maize. For this, 75 genotypes were evaluated in three replications for 2 years. Data were recorded on eight morphological traits including green fodder yield and dried fodder samples were evaluated for eight fodder quality traits. Wide range of estimates for fodder quality and productivity characters except DFF and LSR reflects the existence of significant variations among genotypes. ANOVA revealed significant variety × year interaction for seven traits. Plant height, stem girth, leaf-length and -width demonstrated positive correlation with green fodder yield per plant. Inverse association was observed between crude protein and cell wall component (NDF, hemicellulose). First three principle components explained 44.28% of the total variation. Two-way clustering grouped the genotypes and traits into five and three major clusters, respectively. During SSR analysis, a total of 133 alleles from 21 primers were generated with mean PIC value was 0.58. The genetic distance between genotypes was ranging between 0.16 and 0.75 with an average of 0.49. All genotypes were clustered in three main groups and clustering was consistent with genotype origin. A weak correlation was identified between morphological and molecular distance. Eventually results suggested that both morphotypes and molecular markers should exploit simultaneously to reveal the true genetic diversity to get maximum heterosis through hybridization.  相似文献

ELISA as a specific and highly sensitive test system was used for the examination of large groups of workers employed in the production of fodder protein to detect antibodies to the production strains of fodder yeast. The results yielded by ELISA correlated well with those obtained by the serological luminescent techniques, but antibody titers determined by means of ELISA are 10-20 times higher.  相似文献

Historically, sugar beets were selected from fodder beets. We used mitochondrial minisatellite loci to analyze cytoplasmic genetic diversity in fodder beet and sugar beet. Among the 8 sugar beet accessions examined we identified 3 multi-locus haplotypes. These 3 haplotypes were a subset of 5 haplotypes identified among the 29 fodder beet accessions examined. All but one haplotype in fodder beet comprised, in turn, a subset of 12 haplotypes identified previously in leaf beets. Such apparent decreases in cytoplasmic genetic diversity must result from genetic bottlenecks associated with domestication and the ensuing breeding processes. We also detected the haplotype associated with the male-sterile Owen cytoplasm of sugar beet in the fodder beet gene pool. Furthermore, the presence of a 39 kDa protein associated with the Owen cytoplasm was confirmed in two fodder beet plants by Western blot analysis. These results lead us to speculate that the Owen cytoplasm may have originated in fodder beet, from which sugar beet was derived.  相似文献

In the last three decades or so there has been a significant increase in fodder trading, both in terms of the quantity of fodder traded and in terms of its economic value to the industry. Often, this fodder type may be supplied free of charge to graziers in distress due to circumstances that follow natural disasters such as bushfires, drought, and flood. However, because of the obvious urgency arising from these situations, it is suspected that much relief fodder may unintentionally pose an elevated risk for dispersal of weeds since it may be supplied from pasture not normally used for trade in fodder, and therefore is of unknown quality. Previous destructive method to detect weed propagules in bales of fodder are cumbersome, time consuming and of limited ecological and statistical value. Therefore, objective of this paper was to development of a convenient method to assess round pasture hay bales for the presence of weed propagules, to prevent unintentional spread of noxious species in hay bales. To examine this objective known quantity of seeds were added in a series of distributions to bales of seed free pasture hay, and a positive correlation for the amount of seed added per bale with that recovered in core samples was observed. Whilst the number of seeds detected per bale varied according to the distribution of seeds within the bales and the number of cores analysed, the absolute detection of seeds suggests that this sampling method is worthy of further examination. In addition, a pragmatic estimation of bale remnants after stock feeding has been investigated to more closely estimate the potential size of the remaining seed bank. The authors propose that development of this approach is timely, in the light of future climatic uncertainty driving extreme weather events that increase the need for relief fodder, which can be a potential vector for the spread of noxious weed seeds.  相似文献
