采用各向异性滤波方法以及Gabor滤波方法对乳腺肿瘤超声图像进行处理,再使用snake方法以及levelset方法在设置相同参数的条件下,对过滤的图像分别进行分割。试验结果表明,不同的滤波方法在分害4目标图像的收敛度,边缘圆滑度及整体轮廓提取效果都有较大影响,为分割图像选取适当的滤波器提供了参考。 相似文献

Patient-specific haemodynamic technology is being increasingly utilised in clinical applications. Under normal circumstances, computational haemodynamic simulation is performed using geometric results obtained via medical image segmentation. However, even when employed upon the same set of medical imaging data, both the geometry and volume of intracranial aneurysm models are highly dependent upon varying insufficiently validated vascular segmentation methods. In this study, we compared three segmentation methods to segment the geometry of the aneurysm. These include: the Region Growing Threshold (RGT), Chan-Vese model (CV) and Threshold-Based Level Set (TLS). The results obtained were evaluated via measurement of arterial volume differences (VD), local geometric shapes, and haemodynamic simulation results. In total, 45 patient-specific aneurysm cases with three different anatomy locations were assessed in this study. From this, we discovered that the average VD of all three segmentation methods lay in the vicinity of 9.3% (SD=±4.6%). The computational haemodynamic simulation was performed via the use of the vessel geometries. Analyses produced an average of 23.2% (SD=±8.7%) difference in energy loss (EL) between the varying segmentation methods, with the difference in Wall Shear Stress (WSS) averaging 24.0% (SD=±8.5%) and 126.4% (SD=±124.4%) for the highest and lowest volumes of WSS respectively. The results of the lowest WSS, was seen to be significantly dependent upon the geometry of the aneurysm surface. It is therefore essential, in order to confirm the quality of segmentation processes in the application of patient-specific analyses of cerebrovascular haemodynamics – to validate these individual segmentation methods. 相似文献

An attempt has been made to understand whether 50 Hz electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are involved in producing bioeffects by exposing human erythrocytes in vitro. The study evaluated some key glycolytic enzymes, glucose consumption, lactate production, energy charge, 2,3-diphosphoglycerate, and reduced glutathione levels. all of which are biochemical parameters significant to erythrocyte function. Background A need to provide treatment for people with anxiety and/or depression, and to provide preventive strategies for individuals who love them has been identified. In response, an innovative group therapy programme for people with anxiety and/or depression and a significant other of their choice was developed and implemented.Methods Mixed methods were employed. Five 'significant other' groups were held between May 2005 and June 2006. All group participants were requested to complete the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment (WHOQol) and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), pre- and post-therapy, and three months after their last therapy session. In addition, participants who attended groups between July and September 2005 were invited to provide feedback about the group therapy in an individual semi-structured interview.Results Pilot results indicate positive responses from clients, related to facilitation of knowledge and understanding and skills development. For people referred to the group significant improvements were found in the DASS scores, resilience, psychological health and living environment.Limitations Due to the small sample size, and lack of follow-up data and control group, the findings need to be considered with caution and indicate the necessity to collect further data to provide conclusive findings.Conclusions Overall, the outcome of the 'significant other' pilot programme was useful, in that it facilitated a number of positive outcomes for participants. Areas for further research have been identified including strategies to improve social relationships, the de-identification with the sick/supporter role, and testing this model with diverse populations and clinical groups. 相似文献

Reaction of ethyl 4-thioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate derivatives 1a,b and ethyl 4-oxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate 1c with 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-α-D-glucopyranosyl bromide in KOH or TEA afforded ethyl 2-aryl-4-(2′,3′,4′,6′-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosylthio or/ oxy)-6-methylpyrimidine-5-carboxylate 6a-c. The glucosides 6a and 6b were obtained by the reaction of 1a and 1b with peracetylated glucose3 under MW irradiation. Mercuration of 1a followed by reaction with acetobromoglucose gave the same product 6a. The reaction of 1a-c with peracetylated ribose 4 under MW irradiation gave ethyl 2-aryl-4-(2′,3′,5′-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-ribofuranosylthio)-6-methylpyrimidine-5-carboxylate 8a–c. The deprotection of 6a–c and 8a–c in the presence of methanol and TEA/H2O afforded the deprotected products 7a–c and 9a–c. The structure were confirmed by using 1H and 13CNMR spectra. Neoadjuvant hormonal therapy for oestrogen receptor (ER) and/or progesterone receptor (PgR) positive large operable or locally advanced breast cancer is effective and a safe alternative to chemotherapy in postmenopausal women. A randomised trial has demonstrated that the response rate and the incidence and degree of downstaging with the aromatase inhibitor letrozole is significantly greater than with tamoxifen [J. Clin. Oncol. 19 (2001) 3808]. Tumours at all levels of ER appear to respond better to letrozole than tamoxifen but at low levels of ER responses are seen only with letrozole and not with tamoxifen. Patients most likely to benefit from neoadjuvant therapy and those who achieve the greatest reduction in tumour volume are those patients with tumours that express very high levels of ER (ALLRED category score 8). Both letrozole and anastrozole appear effective in both erbB2 positive and negative breast cancers. Three months of treatment is adequate to determine if a tumour will respond. Following breast-conserving surgery and radiotherapy, local recurrence rates appear satisfactory. 相似文献

Abstract: Phosphorite-filled crustacean burrows associated with a Campanian-age omission surface in the north-western Negev are described. The phosphatic burrow casts weather out displaying scratches (bioglyphs) and two types of local swellings (chambers), which are flattened normal to the course of the burrow. The more abundant chamber type is a flattened spheroid (diameter 45–50 mm) or a flattened, highly prolate ellipsoid of larger dimensions, with bioglyphs. The other type is a flattened spheroid (diameter 45 mm), gently rounded on the upper side and flat on the base. Rings of elevations on the cast (representing moats) form interconnected circlets, each capped by about eight rounded hemispherical tubercles (4 × 4 mm) (pits on original), the whole forming a discrete network. The first type of chamber may have hosted the young (nursery chamber) and/or stored food. The second type of cast replicates a chamber with a pitted floor, which may have formed a brood chamber for 60–70 spherical eggs, each about 3 mm in diameter. Brood chambers in crustacean burrow systems were previously suspected, but only at burrow terminations. The interpreted K-type breeding strategy, brood care and associated functions require a high degree of social organization, none of which has been observed in extant crustaceans, but all occur within social insects. 相似文献

To study non-parental transmission of hepatitis G virus and/or GB virus C (HGV/GBV-C), we sequenced and compared the NS3/helicase region of the virus for five HGV/GBV-C RNA-positive mothers and their 11 children who had experienced neither blood transfusion nor overt hepatitis and were negative for HBV, HCV and HIV, except in one mother coinfected with HCV. The nucleotide sequences of the familial HGV/GBV-C isolates showed high similarity of 99-100% (mean 99.8%, 100% at the deduced amino acid level) between mother and her child(ren) in each family. These findings strongly suggest the spontaneous occurrence of mother-to-child transmission of HGV/GBV-C as reported previously. They also suggest that nucleotide sequence analysis on the NS3/helicase region of HGV/GBV-C may be a useful tool to study HGV/GBV-C transmission. 相似文献

Clefts of the lip and palate, separately or in combination, are among the most frequent congenital defects seen today. Their etiology is heterogeneous and may include hormonal factors, which suggest the possibility of growth effects. Whether affected children are smaller than others has not been determined. We recently showed that growth status is associated with type of cleft. We hypothesized genetic alterations in metabolic pathways that alter prenatal growth, producing clefts; some of these alterations also alter postnatal growth. Since the levels of growth-regulating hormones change during ontogeny, we expected age differences in the degree of growth deficit seen. To test this hypothesis, we examine here the cross-sectional means and distributions of standard deviation (z) scores for height and body mass indices (BMIs) for 144 children with the diagnoses unilateral cleft lip and palate (uCLP) and isolated cleft palate (iCP). We find that alteration in growth status is associated with age group as well as sex and diagnosis. 相似文献

Cutaneous wounds persist as a health care crisis in spite of increased understanding of the cellular and molecular responses to injury. Contributing significantly to this crisis is the lack of reliable therapies for treatment of wounds that are slow to heal including chronic wounds and deep dermal wounds that develop hypertrophic scars. This article will review the growing evidence demonstrating the promise of multipotent mesenchymal stem/stromal (MSCs) for the treatment of impaired wound healing. MSCs are often referred to as mesenchymal stem cells despite concerns that these cells are not truly stem cells given the lack of evidence demonstrating self-renewal in vivo. Regardless, abundant evidence demonstrates the therapeutic potential of MSCs for repair and regeneration of damaged tissue due to injury or disease. To date, MSC treatment of acute and chronic wounds results in accelerated wound closure with increased epithelialization, granulation tissue formation and angiogenesis. Although there is evidence for MSC differentiation in the wound, most of the therapeutic effects are likely due to MSCs releasing soluble factors that regulate local cellular responses to cutaneous injury. Important challenges need to be overcome before MSCs can be used effectively to treat wounds that are slow to heal. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between concentrations of Zn and Cu and the activities of superoxide
dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the heart and liver of young rat pups whose dams were fed a diet supplemented with
caffeine and/or Zn. Four groups of dams with their newborn pups were fed one of the following diets for 22 d: 20% protein
basal diet; the basal diet supplemented with caffeine (2 mg/100 body wt); the basal diet supplemented with Zn (300 mg/kg diet);
or the basal diet supplemented with caffeine plus Zn. The Cu levels in the livers of the pups were decreased by maternal intake
of the caffeine and Zn diet. The maternal intake of the caffeine diet increased Mn-superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) activity and
Cu, Zn-superoxide dismutase (CUZnSOD) in the heart of the pups. On the other hand, the activity of Cu,ZnSOD was significantly
reduced in the liver of pups whose dams consumed a caffeine, Zn, or caffeine plus Zn diet. Cu, ZnSOD activity in the liver
of the pups seems to be correlated with Cu levels in the tissue. Selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities
in the heart and liver showed no difference among the groups. The effect of dietary caffeine and/or Zn on the activity of
antioxidant enzymes in the heart and liver were different in young rats. The activities of these enzymes in the heart were
lower than in the liver of 22-d-old rats. Our experiments indicate that the heart has limited defenses against the toxic effects

We reconstruct the evolutionary changes in different anatomical markers in order to understand the evolution and functional aspects of growth rings during the diversification of seed plants (spermatophytes), one of the largest and most diverse lineages of the tree of life. We carried out a wide revision of the anatomy of secondary xylem in spermatophytes and reconstructed the evolution of the different anatomical markers in a time-calibrated phylogeny. By embodying a functionally and evolutionarily significant concept in growth rings we reveal a new panorama for their frequency and show how common they are in diverse lineages of tropical plants. In this context, the principal anatomical markers of growth rings are identified in the evolutionary history of plants and their association with climate-related ecological characteristics. We discuss the function of these anatomical markers, especially for thick-walled and/or radially flattened latewood fibres, fibre zone and dilated rays. Despite the high evolutionary lability of the anatomical markers evidenced by our analyses, they appear to represent deep homologies. 相似文献

In a theoretical framework, the development time of arthropods is closely associated with population growth, so that strong selection pressure may be imposed on development patterns. In this context, selection towards shorter development times may act on female mites in the season when population size is growing. In contrast, such selective pressure may be weaker just before hibernation, because the stage adjustment may be more important than population growth in such seasons. Thus, selection to shorten development times may act more strongly in long daylength conditions, so that different developmental responses among the seasons (reaction norm) may evolve. I predicted that the development time is shorter under the long-day conditions of population-growing seasons than under the short-day conditions of hibernating seasons, and that genetic variation at the long-day is smaller than that at the short-day. In order to test this prediction, the egg-to-adult development time of a population of Tetranychus kanzawai (Acari: Tetranychidae) was investigated under short (9L:15D) and long (15L:9D) daylength conditions at 18 °C. In addition, genetic variation in female development times under these conditions was estimated by using half-sib design. The development time of females at short day was 1 day longer than at long day under the experimental conditions. Male development times follow the pattern of females with <1 day delay. However, heritabilities under these two treatments were quite low and neither was significant. Thus, only the first prediction was supported by the results. In addition, maternal and/or non-additive effects in the female development time were highly significant under both daylength conditions examined. 相似文献

Endopeptidase-24.11 is a 90-kDa surface glycoprotein with the ability to hydrolyze a variety of biologically active peptides. Interest in this enzyme is based on the consensus that it may play a role in the termination of peptide signals in the central nervous system. In the present study, we have investigated the distribution of endopeptidase-24.11 in two nerves of the peripheral nervous system of newborn pigs: the sciatic, composed of a mixture of myelinated and nonmyelinated axons, and cervical sympathetic trunk in which greater than 99% of the axons are nonmyelinated. The endopeptidase was monitored enzymatically, as well as by immunoblotting and immunocytochemistry using mono- and polyclonal anti-endopeptidase antibodies. Endopeptidase-24.11 was detected in both the sciatic nerve and the cervical sympathetic trunk. Membrane preparations from sciatic nerve hydrolyzed 125I-insulin B-chain, and more than 50% of the activity was inhibited by phosphoramidon with an IC50 concentration of 3.2 nM. Moreover, a 90-kDa polypeptide was detected by immunoblotting of sciatic nerve membranes. The type of cells expressing the endopeptidase was determined by immunohistochemistry. In teased nerve preparations, these cells were identified morphologically as myelin- and non-myelin-forming Schwann cells. Endopeptidase-24.11 was also expressed by cultured Schwann cells from sciatic nerve and cervical sympathetic trunk maintained for 3 h in vitro. The presence of endopeptidase-24.11 on the Schwann cell surface raises the possibility of a potential role for the enzyme in nerve development and/or regeneration. 相似文献
