Pretreatment of hemp pulp with xylanase was investigated. Unbleached hemp pulp was treated with commercial xylanase, and then bleached with hydrogen peroxide. Control pulp bleached with out xylanase was compared with xylanase bleached pulp. Application of xylanase was found to have a positive effect on followed peroxide stage in terms of low kappa number and high brightness of pulp.  相似文献

This paper will consider the influence of the operating conditions used in the hydrogen peroxide bleaching (concentration 1–5 % and process time 30–210 min) and sodium perborate bleaching (sodium perborate concentration 1–5 %, hydrogen peroxide 0–2% and process time 60–180 min) of olive wood trimmings pulp on the yield, kappa index and viscosity of the resulting pulp, and on strength related properties of paper sheets (stretch index and burst index) in order to determine the best bleaching conditions of this pulp. Medium to low hydrogen peroxide concentrations (1–3 %) and a high operation time (210 min) were desired in the bleaching of pulp. A high sodium perborate concentration and hydrogen peroxide concentration (5 % and 2 % respectively) and medium to low operation time (60–120 min) were desired for the sodium perborate bleaching. A comparison of both bleaching agents, under similar or under optimum operating conditions, revealed that sodium perborate bleaching results in lower brightness, a higher kappa index and also higher viscosity than hydrogen peroxide bleaching. Moreover, both provided similar stretch index and burst index values for sodium perborate bleaching with respect to hydrogen peroxide bleaching.  相似文献

Different operating conditions (viz. pulp consistency, oxygen pressure and treatment time) in the biobleaching of eucalyptus kraft pulp with the laccase-HBT system was tested in order to describe their effect and normalize a biobleaching protocol. A high O(2) pressure (0.6MPa) was found to result in improved laccase-assisted delignification of the pulp. Also, a high pulp consistency (10%) and a short treatment time (2h) proved the best choices with a view to obtaining good pulp properties (kappa number and ISO brightness) under essentially mild conditions. The laccase-HBT treatment was found to result in slight delignification (in the form of a 20-27% decrease in kappa number); however, an alkaline extraction stage raised delignification to 41-45%, a much higher level than those obtained in the control tests (16-23%). Also, the use of hydrogen peroxide in the extraction stage resulted in improved brightness (14-19%), but in scarcely improved delignification (4-7%). Treating the pulp with the laccase-HBT system reduced the amount of hydrogen peroxide required for subsequent alkaline bleaching by a factor of 3-4 relative to control tests.  相似文献

The influence of the operating conditions used in the bleaching of olive wood trimmings pulp (viz. hydrogen peroxide concentration and time) on the yield, kappa index and viscosity of the resulting pulp and on strength-related properties of paper sheets was studied to determine the optimal bleaching conditions of this pulp. Hydrogen peroxide bleached pulps at different sequences (oxygen, ozone, chlorine dioxide and alkaline extractions) were compared. Hydrogen peroxide bleaching proved to be suitable for this pulp. Considerable improvements in viscosity were obtained with respect to other bleaching sequences such as oxygen, ozone and chlorine dioxide. Hydrogen peroxide bleaching decreased the kappa index 51.3% less than ozone bleaching, 25.0% less than chlorine dioxide (D) and 6.3% less combined chlorine dioxide-alkaline extraction (DE). To obtain kappa indices 50.9% and 37.9% lower than the index achieved by hydrogen peroxide, oxygen (LaO(p)) and ozone (LaO(LaZ)R) sequences respectively were needed. Lower-medium levels of hydrogen peroxide concentrations (1-3%) and high reaction times (210 min) proved to be suitable for bleaching of pulp olive trimming residues. This approach could be used on this residue to produce adequately bleached pulp.  相似文献

The effects of oxygen (O), ozone (Z) and hydrogen peroxide (P) bleaching stages on the composition and total amount of Eucalyptus globulus kraft pulp lipophilic extractives was studied. These bleaching stages led to the partial removal and to several oxidative transformations of fatty acids and sterols, the main lipophilic extractives found in the unbleached pulp. Unsaturated extractives were found to be partially degraded while saturated ones were, in general, stable. The oxygen and hydrogen peroxide bleaching stages were more effective than ozone in removing fatty acids from pulp, by dissolution in the liquid phase. On the other hand, the ozone stage was more effective in the oxidative degradation of sterols. Oxygen and hydrogen peroxide bleaching stages were also effective in sterols removal, but led to the formation of sterol oxidation derivatives, previously shown to be involved in the formation of pitch that accumulates in the bleaching filtrates.  相似文献

A biphasic fermentation approach was undertaken for the production of ethanol and hydrogen from cassava pulp. The glucose generated by co-culture of Clostridium thermocellum and Thermoanaerobacterium aotearoense was 13.65±0.45 g L(-1), which was 1.75 and 1.17-fold greater than that produced by mono-cultures of C. thermocellum and T. aotearoense, respectively. The accumulated glucose could be utilised rapidly by subsequently inoculated Saccharomyces cerevisiae. An inoculum ratio of 1:1, a thermophilic fermentation of 84 h, and a pulp concentration of 4% proved optimal for ethanol production, fermentation efficiency, and productivity. With these conditions, the ethanol level reached 8.83±0.31 g L(-1) with a fermentation efficiency of 64.95±2.71%. Hydrogen production of 4.06 mmol by the co-culture system was 1.54 and 2.09-fold greater than that produced by mono-cultures of C. thermocellum and T. aotearoense, respectively. This sequential co-culture approach provided a consolidated bio-processing means to produce ethanol and hydrogen from cassava pulp.  相似文献

Calcified human permanent and primary teeth are often split to obtain pulp tissue for histochemical studies as well as unaltered dentin and surfaces for scanning electron microscopy. Various procedures have been used to cleave teeth, with different degrees of consistency. For rapid and fairly consistent splitting, a vise to the jaws of which triangular metal files have been welded has been found useful. The apices of the files were ground by an electric drill to the shape of typical teeth. Teeth to be split were grooved on their opposing external surfaces and were then cracked open between the file blades upon application of pressure by the vise. Teeth usually split lengthwise, exposing the entire pulp organ in one section and an empty pulp chamber-root canal in the other. This facilitated rapid penetration of fixative into pulp, and easier removal of pulp tissue in toto, as well as providing fresh enamel and dentin surfaces suitable for scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

Nanofibrillation of wood pulp using a high-speed blender   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Uetani K  Yano H 《Biomacromolecules》2011,12(2):348-353
We report the successful use of a high-speed blender in nanofibrillating never-dried pulp to cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) with a uniform diameter of 15-20 nm. Pulp treated for 30 min in a blender showed the same degree of fibrillation with less damage to the CNF compared with that treated in a grinder. Observing the process of nanofibrillation clarified that the straw-like pulp was fibrillated in a very characteristic way, by forming many "balloon-like structures". As the balloons extended to the edges, the fibrils were rapidly individualized. However, the pulp fragments with ripped cell walls were split into finer fragments and gradually disintegrated into nanofibers. Changing the agitation speed and pulp concentration during the treatment revealed that the pulp concentration of 0.7 wt % at 37,000 rpm was the optimum fibrillation condition in this blender method. Through treatments in various NaCl solutions, the effect of the surface charge of CNF on the fibrillation was studied from the viewpoint of colloidal surface physics. It was found that repulsion due to the electric double layer of the CNF surface may play a critical role in the occurrence of fibrillation.  相似文献

Three selected alkali-based organosolv pulps (alkali-sulfite-anthraquinone-methanol (ASAM), alkali-anthraquinone-methanol (organocell) and ethanol-soda) from agrofibre crop giant reed (Arundo donax L.) were bleached by an ozone-based TCF (totally chlorine- free) bleaching sequence AZE(R)QP (where A is an acidic pulp pre-treatment, Z is an ozone stage, (E(R)) is an alkaline extraction in the presence of reducing agent, Q is a pulp chelating, P is a hydrogen peroxide stage) without oxygen pre-bleaching, and compared with a conventional kraft pulp used as a reference. The different response on bleaching conditions within each bleaching stage was noted for all tested pulps. The pulp bleachability, in terms of brightness improvement or lignin removal per unit of applied chemicals, was found higher for the organocell pulp. The ASAM and ethanol-soda pulps showed the highest bleaching selectivity, expressed by viscosity loss per unit of lignin removed or brightness improved. The overall bleaching results of organosolv pulps were superior to kraft.  相似文献

Previous work has shown that Trametes (Coriolus) versicolor bleaches kraft pulp brownstock with the concomitant release of methanol. In this work, the fungus is shown to produce both laccase and manganese peroxidase (MnP) but not lignin peroxidase during pulp bleaching. MnP production was enhanced by the presence of pulp and/or Mn(II) ions. The maximum level of secreted MnP was coincident with the maximum rate of fungal bleaching. Culture filtrates isolated from bleaching cultures produced Mn(II)- and hydrogen peroxide-dependent pulp demethylation and delignification. Laccase and MnP were separated by ion-exchange chromatography. Purified MnP alone produced most of the demethylation and delignification exhibited by the culture filtrates. On the basis of the methanol released and the total and phenolic methoxyl contents of the pulp, it appears that MnP shows a preference for the oxidation of phenolic lignin substructures. The extensive increase in brightness observed in the fungus-treated pulp was not found with MnP alone. Therefore, either the MnP effect must be optimized or other enzymes or compounds from the fungus are also required for brightening.  相似文献

The effects of laccase-natural mediator systems (LMS) on sisal pulp and their potential for either biobleaching or functionalizing (via radical-coupling) its fibres were investigated. The enzyme treatment (L stage) was followed by extraction with hydrogen peroxide in order to determine whether observable effects could be enhanced by removing LMS-modified lignin. Four different plant phenols [viz. the p-hydroxycinnamic compounds sinapic acid (SNC), ferulic acid (FRC), coniferyl aldehyde (CLD) and sinapyl aldehyde (SLD)] were used as laccase redox mediators and their effects on pulp and effluents compared with those of the synthetic compound 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HBT). During the L stage performed with HBT, laccase underwent a loss of 99% and 78% of the initial activity, in the absence and presence of pulp, respectively. With natural mediators inactivation was markedly reduced, being the residual activity between 65% and 100% of the initial one, in the presence of pulp. The pulp was found to protect the enzyme against inactivation: the activity was only reduced by 45% in its presence. Under the operating conditions used the natural mediators proved less efficient than HBT in facilitating pulp bleaching; rather, they tended to bind to pulp fibres. This effect could be used to functionalize fibres in order to improve intrinsic properties of pulp or introducing novel ones (e.g. antimicrobial, antioxidant, optical properties, etc.). This paper shows for the first time the application of laccase-mediator systems to sisal pulp.  相似文献

Pretreatment of lignocellulosic materials such as newspaper, rice straw, pulp waste, and municipal solid waste with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of manganese compounds greatly enhances their susceptibility to enzymatic saccharification. This pretreatment can be achieved using rather mild conditions with only a minimal decrease in the recovery and little change in composition. Manganese salts in this hydrogen peroxide pretreatment works effectively in particular when the concentration of hydrogen peroxide is relatively low. The susceptibility of hydrogen-peroxide-pretreated substrate to enzymatic saccharification increases with increasing the molar ratio of manganes to hydrogen peroxide up to 1 : 100.  相似文献

Pulp from agricultural residues (wheat straw) was bleached with the DEPD (chlorine dioxide-extraction with soda and hydrogen peroxide-chlorine dioxide) or P sequence (hydrogen peroxide) after enzymatic pretreatment with cartazyme HS.The enzymatic pretreatment increases the final brightness of the pulp after bleaching with the P and DEPD sequences (+3.7%) and saves bleaching reagents (from 3.5 to 5.2%); however, it also decreases the pulp yield (from 9.3 to 14.1%) and breaking length (from 20.2 to 13.2%), burst index (from 13.1 to 8.2%) and tear index (from 4.2% to 16.8%) of the paper sheets formed from the pulp. The authors wish to express their gratitude to DGICyT, Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, for financial support granted for the realization of this work as part of Project PB 91-0841.  相似文献

Laccase was reacted with gallic acid in the presence of a high-kappa (91) kraft pulp. The result was a modified pulp with 34%, 20%, and 72% improvements in burst, tensile, and wet tensile strength compared to untreated control samples. Fully bleached pulps were not responsive to the laccase treatment, indicating lignin was the major target for the fiber modification. The results indicate that the strength increases were a combined effect of improvements of hydrogen bonding between fibers and creation of phenoxy radical cross-links within the sheet.  相似文献

Herein we describe a possibility of selective dissolution of xylan, the most important type of hemicellulose, from Eucalyptus globulus kraft pulp using ionic liquids (ILs). On the basis of the IL 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dimethyl phosphate, which is well-known to dissolve pulp, the phosphate anion was modified by substituting one oxygen atom for sulfur and selenium, respectively. This alteration reduces the hydrogen bond basicity of the IL and therefore prevents dissolution of cellulose fibers, whereas the less ordered xylan is still dissolved. (1)H NMR spectra of model solutions and Kamlet-Taft parameters were used to quantify the solvent polarity and hydrogen bond acceptor properties of the ILs. These parameters have been correlated to their ability to dissolve xylan and cellulose, which was monitored by (13)C NMR spectroscopy. It was found that the selectivity for xylan dissolution increases to a certain extent with decreasing hydrogen-bond-accepting ability of anions of the ILs.  相似文献

Seven fungal strains were screened for their ability to produce cellulase-free xylanases that could be used in pretreatment of sulphite pulp prior to bleaching. The potential xylanase producers were subjected to shake flask fermentations using four different carbon sources: wheat bran, corn cobs, oat spelts xylan and bleach plant effluent. When grown on corn cobs, Aspergillus foetidus (ATCC 14916) produced significant levels of xylanase (547.4 U/ml), accompanied however by 6.6 U/ml of cellulase activity. Two other strains, Aspergillus oryzae (NRRL 1808) and Gliocladium viride (CBS 658.70), produced high yields of cellulase-free xylanase on oat spelts xylan. The crude enzymes of these two isolates were characterized with respect to pH and temperature optima and stability in order to standardize the optimum conditions for their use on pulp. Although the two xylanases differed in their abilities to remove reducing sugars from pulp, their biobleaching abilities, when assessed in hydrogen peroxide delignification of pulp, were very similar: both of them increased brightness by 1.4 points and removed 7% of hemicellulose from pulp.  相似文献

Abstract: Use of hemicellulases, including xylanases, for delignification in the paper industry has been slowed down by the lack of large-scale availability of enzymes which are active at a high pH (above 8) and a high temperature (above 60°C), conditions prevailing in many bleaching processes. During the past years, acidic or neutral hemicellulases, working at temperatures below 60°C, were used in most mill experiments. The Korsäs T6 xylanase from Bacillus stearothermophilus , which is active at a pH above 9.0 and at a temperature above 65°C, was produced on a large scale in collaboration with Gist-brocades and was employed on a full scale mill trial to produce a Total Chlorine chemical-Free (TCF) pulp from softwood. The bleaching sequence used was (OO)BQQPP. where O stands for oxygen delignification. B for the enzymatic treatment, Q for the chelating agent step and P for the hydrogen peroxide step. The enzyme bleaching step was performed during a period of 4 h at 63 ± 1°C and pH 8.7 ± 0.1. The results of the mill trial show that the TCF pulp produced had a brightness of 78% ISO and, at the same time, it preserved the same strength properties as chlorine dioxide-bleached pulp. The saving of hydrogen peroxide was 20%. The results on brightness, strength and chemical saving of this first full scale trial with T6 xylanase indicate that, after optimization, a TCF bleaching sequence including an enzymatic step with a xylanase working at a high pH and a high temperature, such as T6 xylanase, can be used to produce a high-strength bleached pulp. The advantages of a high pH and a high temperature enzymatic bleaching step are discussed.  相似文献
