A flower model trap developed by modifying an artificial yellow chrysanthemum flower was more attractive to flower thrips than commercial yellow sticky traps. Installation of these flower model traps (20 traps per 50 m2 plot) was reported to reduce seasonal populations of Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) on strawberry flowers in greenhouses. In this study, we sought to determine if the installation of such flower model traps would reduce thrips populations in a pepper field. The traps were installed at the bottom of the plant canopy at varying densities (0, 5, 10, and 20 traps) in 20 plots (each 3 × 5 m2) using a completely randomized design. Thrips populations on pepper flowers were sampled from 1 to 29 July in 2009. All thrips sampled on the flowers were identified as F. intonsa. A significant effect of treatment and sampling date was found from repeated-measure analysis of variance. The highest density (20 traps per 15 m2) of traps significantly reduced the female and male F. intonsa population compared to the control by 61 and 49%, respectively. However, no difference in immature thrips numbers was found among the treatments. These results indicate that this flower model trap can be a useful tool for the management of flower thrips on field-grown peppers.  相似文献

Thrips are one of the insect pests of persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) in the major production areas of astringent persimmon in Korea. We surveyed astringent persimmon orchards in the Damyang, Sangju and Cheongdo regions of Korea to determine thrips species composition and abundance. Orchards sprayed with either organic or conventional pesticides were sampled over the course of one flowering season, using yellow sticky traps to determine if this is a suitable method for monitoring thrips populations, and to determine thrips species composition and abundance. Eight thrips species were captured on yellow sticky traps in both the tree canopy and ground cover: Ponticulothrips diospyrosi Haga et Okajima, Scirtothrips dorsalis (Hood), Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande), F. intonsa (Trybom), Thrips tabaci (Lindeman), T. hawaiiensis (Morgan), T. coloratus (Schmutz) and T. palmi (Karny). In all regions, F. occidentalis and F. intonsa dominated in both organic and conventional orchards. S. dorsalis, F. occidentalis, F. intonsa and T. hawaiiensis were found in persimmon flowers, with S. dorsalis the dominant thrips. Significantly more S. dorsalis were captured from flowers in the lower and middle canopy than in flowers from the upper canopy. Fruit damage was also significantly higher in fruit from the lower canopy than in fruit from the middle and upper canopy.  相似文献

Background and Aims

Studies of the effects of pollination on floral scent and bee visitation remain rare, particularly in agricultural crops. To fill this gap, the hypothesis that bee visitation to flowers decreases after pollination through reduced floral volatile emissions in highbush blueberries, Vaccinium corymbosum, was tested. Other sources of variation in floral emissions and the role of floral volatiles in bee attraction were also examined.

Methods

Pollinator visitation to blueberry flowers was manipulated by bagging all flowers within a bush (pollinator excluded) or leaving them unbagged (open pollinated), and then the effect on floral volatile emissions and future bee visitation were measured. Floral volatiles were also measured from different blueberry cultivars, times of the day and flower parts, and a study was conducted to test the attraction of bees to floral volatiles.

Key Results

Open-pollinated blueberry flowers had 32 % lower volatile emissions than pollinator-excluded flowers. In particular, cinnamyl alcohol, a major component of the floral blend that is emitted exclusively from petals, was emitted in lower quantities from open-pollinated flowers. Although, no differences in cinnamyl alcohol emissions were detected among three blueberry cultivars or at different times of day, some components of the blueberry floral blend were emitted in higher amounts from certain cultivars and at mid-day. Field observations showed that more bees visited bushes with pollinator-excluded flowers. Also, more honey bees were caught in traps baited with a synthetic blueberry floral blend than in unbaited traps.

Conclusions

Greater volatile emissions may help guide bees to unpollinated flowers, and thus increase plant fitness and bee energetic return when foraging in blueberries. Furthermore, the variation in volatile emissions from blueberry flowers depending on pollination status, plant cultivar and time of day suggests an adaptive role of floral signals in increasing pollination of flowers.  相似文献

The capturing efficiency of four coloured (yellow, green, white and blue) sticky traps, placed at the top, middle and bottom strata of cotton plants, was tested for the western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), and its predatory bug, Orius niger (Wolff) (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae), as well as spatial distributions of both insects on the plant in years 2006 and 2007. The white coloured trap was the most attractive to F. occidentalis and O. niger in the 2-year study. The blue coloured trap was the least attractive for Orius. The mean numbers of F. occidentalis and O. niger on the top plant parts (flowers and leaves) and in all coloured traps positioned on the upper parts of the plants were greater than those found in the lower two strata. Taylor's power law analysis showed that F. occidentalis and O. niger adults aggregated in the flowers or on the leaves. This study suggests that top flowers could be preferentially sampled to determine population densities of Frankliniella flower thrips and Orius species in cotton, and thus, sticky traps should be placed on the top level of plants. F. occidentalis: O. niger ratios in the flowers varied from 4 to 60 thrips per Orius adult in the three plant strata. This result may indicate that F. occidentalis experiences more predation from Orius.  相似文献

The western flower thrips Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is a cosmopolitan, polyphagous insect pest that causes bronzing to fruit of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa). The main aim of this study was to test whether mass trapping could reduce damage and to predict whether this approach would be economically viable. In semi-protected strawberry crops, mass trapping of F. occidentalis using blue sticky roller traps reduced adult thrips numbers per flower by 61% and fruit bronzing by 55%. The addition of the F. occidentalis aggregation pheromone, neryl (S)-2-methylbutanoate, to the traps doubled the trap catch, reduced adult thrips numbers per flower by 73% and fruit bronzing by 68%. The factors affecting trapping efficiency through the season are discussed. Damage that would result in downgrading of fruit to a cheaper price occurred when bronzing affected about 10% of the red fruit surface. Cost-benefit analysis using this threshold showed that mass trapping of thrips using blue sticky roller traps can be cost-effective in high-value crops. The addition of blue sticky roller traps to an integrated pest management programme maintained thrips numbers below the damage threshold and increased grower returns by a conservative estimate of £2.2k per hectare. Further work is required to develop the F. occidentalis aggregation pheromone for mass trapping and to determine the best timing for trap deployment. Mass trapping of thrips is likely to be cost-effective in other countries and other high-value crops affected by F. occidentalis damage, such as cucumber and cut flowers.  相似文献

[背景]乙酸肉桂酯是一种重要的香料化合物,在化妆品和食品工业上具有广泛的应用,传统的生产方法主要依靠植物提取和化学合成。[目的]通过筛选不同植物源的酰基转移酶,利用大肠杆菌从头合成乙酸肉桂酯。[方法]首先,通过在苯丙氨酸高产菌BPHE中表达异源基因苯丙氨酸解氨酶(Phenylalanine Ammonia-Lyase from Arabidopsis thaliana,AtPAL)、对羟基肉桂酰辅酶A连接酶(Hydroxycinnamate:CoA Ligase from Petroselinum crispum,Pc4CL)和肉桂酰辅酶 A 还原酶(Cinnamyl-CoA Reductase from Arabidopsis thaliana,AtCCR),并结合大肠杆菌自身的内源性醇脱氢酶(Alcohol Dehydrogenases,ADHs)或醛酮还原酶(Aldo-Keto Reductases,AKRs)的催化作用构建了从苯丙氨酸到肉桂醇的生物合成途径。然后,苯甲醇苯甲酰转移酶(Benzyl Alcohol O-Benzoyltransferase from Nicotiana tabacum,ANN09798;Benzyl Alcohol O-Benzoyltransferase from Clarkia breweri,ANN09796)或苯甲醇乙酰转移酶(Benzyl Alcohol Acetyltransferase from Clarkia breweri,BEAT)被引入到上述重组大肠杆菌中发酵培养生产乙酸肉桂酯。最后,在大肠杆菌中过表达乙酰辅酶A合成酶(Acetyl Coenzyme A Synthetase,ACS)来提高底物乙酰辅酶A的量。[结果]探讨了 3个植物源苯甲醇酰基转移酶生物合成乙酸肉桂酯的能力,并应用于合成乙酸肉桂酯的细胞工厂,最终使乙酸肉桂酯最高产量达到166.9±6.6mg/L。[结论]植物源苯甲醇酰基转移酶具有一定的底物宽泛性,能以肉桂醇为底物催化合成乙酸肉桂酯。首次利用植物源的苯甲醇酰基转移酶合成乙酸肉桂酯,为微生物细胞工厂以葡萄糖作为碳源生产乙酸肉桂酯提供参考。  相似文献

Soil-dwelling predatory mites are natural enemies of various soil pest insects and mites. Both Gaeolaelaps aculeifer (Canestrini) and Stratiolaelaps scimitus (Womersley) are commercialized natural enemies of thrips, but there is little information on the predation rate of these predatory mites on different thrips species. We compared their predation capacities on three thrips species, Frankliniella occidentalis, F. intonsa, and Thrips palmi, which are major pests of various horticultural plants. The predatory rate of G. aculeifer was higher than that of S. scimitus. Both predator species fed on more T. palmi thrips than F. occidentalis or F. intonsa thrips, which may be attributable to the smaller body size of T. palmi than the other thrips. Predation rates of female adults were 2.6–2.8 times higher than those of deutonymphs in both species. Predation rates were not separated according to the various developmental stages (i.e., second instar larva, pupa, or adult) of thrips; however, deutonymphs fed on fewer adults than larvae or pupae of F. occidentalis. Our results suggest that both G. aculeifer and S. scimitus are active predators that can prey during any of their developmental stages and on any species of thrips tested.  相似文献

The effects of plant-derived chemicals (volatiles) on the attraction of the Spodoptera litura moth to sex pheromones were evaluated using an electroantennogram (EAG). Neuronal responses of male moths to sex pheromone mixtures (SPs) (a 9:1 mixture of synthetic (9Z,11E)-9,11-tetraddecadienyl acetate (Z9E11-14:OAc) and (9Z,12E)-9,12-tetradecadienyl acetate (Z9E12-14:OAc)) and to SPs mixtures with eight plant volatiles (benzaldehyde, (E)-β-caryophyllene, phenylacetaldehyde, 2,6-nonadienal, benzyl alcohol, racemic linalool, longifolene, and (E)-β-ocimene) were also measured. Then, wind tunnels and field trapping bioassays were conducted to determine the influence of plant volatiles on S. litura moth behavioral responses to SPs. The results indicated that benzaldehyde, phenylacetaldehyde, and benzyl alcohol significantly enhanced, and longifolene, (E)-β-caryophyllene, and (E)-β-ocimene had no significant effect on the attractions to SPs, whereas racemic linalool significantly decreased the attraction of male S. litura moths to SPs throughout the olfactory pathway. 2,6-Nonadienal significantly enhanced olfactory responses, but had no significant effect on output behavior. These findings provide foundations in utilization of plant volatiles and sex pheromones to manage the pest and other agricultural pests.  相似文献

The response of adult flower thrips Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) to conspecifics is investigated in Y‐tube olfactometer bioassays. The results show that both males and females are attracted to the odours of adult males, which indicates a male‐produced aggregation pheromone in this species. Gas chromatography‐mass spectroscopy analyses of headspace volatiles collected on solid‐phase microextraction fibres show that two major components and six minor components are present in volatiles from males but not in females. Further gas chromatography‐mass spectroscopy analyses reveal that the two major components in head‐space volatiles produced by F. intonsa males are the same compounds that are reported in volatiles of Frankliniella occidentalis males: (R)‐lavandulyl acetate and neryl (S)‐2‐methylbutanoate. However, the quantity of these two compounds in the volatiles differs between the species.  相似文献

Frankliniella occidentalis causes significant damage to berry crops in Mexico. Traps may be used for monitoring or mass-trapping thrips populations. Generally, colour traps are used for monitoring thrips, but sometimes a chemical stimulus can be added to the traps. However, there is conflicting information about what colour is the most attractive and efficient for capturing F. occidentalis. In this study, we first evaluated six colours of adhesive traps for catching F. occidentalis in blackberries grown in tunnels or in an open field. Subsequently, using the most attractive trap colour, we assessed the biological activity of neryl (S)-2-methylbutanoate and (R)-lavandulyl acetate, components of the pheromone aggregation of F. occidentalis. Finally, we examined the effect of neryl (S)-2-methylbutanoate dosage rates on the number of captured thrips. We found that blue (tunnel) and yellow (open field) followed by violet traps captured a significantly greater number of F. occidentalis compared with the white, black and green traps. Our results confirm that neryl (S)-2-methylbutanoate is the only component necessary for enhancing the performance of coloured traps. Blue and yellow traps baited with 200–400 µg of neryl (S)-2-methylbutanoate increased the capture 2.5–3 times compared to unbaited traps. In all experiments, traps captured more females than males in blackberries grown in tunnels, whereas the opposite was found in blackberries cultivated in the open field. These results constitute the first step in the development of a monitoring system for F. occidentalis in soft fruit crops in Mexico.  相似文献

Esters are important contributors to the aroma of numerous flowers and fruits. Acetate esters such as geranyl acetate, phenylethyl acetate and benzyl acetate are generated as a result of the action of alcohol acetyltransferases (AATs). Numerous homologous AATs from various plants have been characterized using in-vitro assays. To study the function of rose alcohol acetyltransferase (RhAAT) in planta, we generated transgenic petunia plants expressing the rose gene under the control of a CaMV-35S promoter. Although the preferred substrate of RhAAT in vitro is geraniol, in transgenic petunia flowers, it used phenylethyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol to produce the corresponding acetate esters, not generated by control flowers. The level of benzyl alcohol emitted by the flowers of different transgenic lines was ca. three times higher than that of phenylethyl alcohol, which corresponded to the ratio between the respective products, i.e. ca. three times more benzyl acetate than phenylethyl acetate. Feeding of transgenic petunia tissues with geraniol or octanol led to the production of their respective acetates, suggesting the dependence of volatile production on substrate availability.  相似文献

The dispersal behavior of flower thrips was studied during two field seasons within blueberry (Vaccinium spp.) plantings in Florida and southern Georgia. A "shake and rinse" technique used to extract thrips from inside the blueberry flowers was not significantly different from the conventional dissecting technique, but the time taken to complete the extraction of thrips was significantly shorter. Overall, the highest concentration of thrips was captured inside the canopy of blueberry bushes. Using a grid of traps to monitor the dispersal of thrips during the blueberry flowering season, we analyzed their dispersion with graphical and analytical methods to determine and describe their distribution within blueberry plantings. Thrips began to form "hot-spots" 5-7 d after bloom initiation. A hot-spot is defined as a large number of thrips concentrated in a small area of the field, whereas the rest of the field has a low population. The behavior of the population inside these hot-spots fit a Gaussian tendency and a regression was conducted to describe this tendency. Green's and Standardized Morisita's indices were used to determine thrips level of aggregation. Results showed significantly aggregated populations of thrips in both years. Formation of hot-spots in blueberry plantings seemed to be random. However, the formation of hot-spots was higher in places where more than seven thrips per day were captured on sticky traps, 5 to 7 d after the bloom begins. With these results, producers will be able to monitor thrips populations and locate and manage hot-spots before they become a more serious a problem on blueberry farms.  相似文献

Improved laboratory methods are described in detail for mass rearing of various thrips species, such as Frankliniella occidentalis, Frankliniella intonsa, Thrips palmi, Thrips tabaci (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) and a thrips parasitoid, Ceranisus menes (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), using various foods. In one method, plant pollen and honey solution are used as food sources. In a second method, germinated broad bean seeds are used. Eggs, produced in large numbers in water, are collected by a suction funnel onto a filter paper and incubated in a Petri dish. Large numbers of larvae that hatch are collected by using food traps (plant pollen). Larvae can be reared on pollen or on germinated broad bean seeds until adult emergence without additional water and food. This method has been found useful for producing even-aged thrips at different densities (up to 500 larvae in a cage of 80 mm diameter) with relatively low mortality rates. Evaluation of this rearing method for F. intonsa, shows that during 2 weeks at 20 °C per 100 females more than 4000 females could be produced in the next generation. About 5 min per day is required to achieve this productivity of mass production. The method is also suitable for producing large numbers of the solitary endoparasitoid of thrips larvae, C. menes.  相似文献

The phototrophic bacteriumRhodopseudomonas palustris has been reported to be versatile in photometabolism of aromatic compounds. However, the kinetics of degradation of aromatic compounds byR. palustris appears not to have been reported in the literature. In this laboratory a photosynthetic bacterium that was identified asRhodopseudomonas palustris(bp) was isolated from a sample collected from a canal where refinery wastewater was discharged. The paper presents the results of the growth of the isolate on different aromatic compounds, their catabolic pathways, and the kinetics of their degradation. The doubling time of the isolate was found to be 23, 22, 17, 27, 20, 24, and 26 h for benzoate,p-hydroxybenzoate, cinnamate,p-coumarate, phenyl valerate, phenyl acetate, and cinnamyl alcohol respectively. It was also found that cinnamate, phenyl valerate, phenyl acetate, and cinnamyl alcohol were converted to benzoate, whilep-coumarate was converted top-hydroxybenzoate. The substrate inhibition constant (Ki) was found to be 1082, 1178, 1362, 1260, 3098, 1347, and 322 mg/L for benzoate,p-hydroxybenzoate, cinnamate,p-coumarate, phenyl valerate, phenyl acetate, and cinnamyl alcohol respectively.  相似文献

The leaf oil compositions of two Lauraceae and one Annonaceae plants cultivated in Vietnam were analysed by GC/MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) analysis. The leaf oil of the first Lauraceae plant Cinnamomum melastomaceum contained 34 identified compounds, in which benzyl benzoate (38.5 %), linalool (19.9 %), (E)-caryophyllene (10.5 %), and α-terpineol (6.9 %) were the major compounds. The leaves of the second Lauraceae plant Neolitsea buisanensis gave an oil with the main compounds (E)-β-ocimene (24.0 %), benzyl benzoate (15.8 %), bicyclogermacrene (14.9 %), and (E)-caryophyllene (6.3 %). The leaf oil of the Annonaceae plant Uvaria microcarpa consisted of the principal compounds (E)-caryophyllene (18.0 %), bicyclogermacrene (8.1 %), and δ-elemene (6.1 %). Two Lauraceae oil samples exhibited strong mosquito larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus, and Culex quinquefasciatus with LC50 and LD90 values of less than 50 μg/mL. The Annonaceae oil sample showed strong antimicrobial activity against the fungus Aspergillus niger ATCC 1015 with the MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) value of 32 μg/mL. In the docking approach, the major compounds (E)-caryophyllene, bicyclogermacrene, and benzyl benzoate interacted with the mosquito odorant-binding protein 3OGN, whereas (E)-caryophyllene, bicyclogermacrene, and δ-elemene also potentially interacted with the 4ZA5 protein of fungus A. niger.  相似文献

The volatile profiles of rare Malus domestica Borkh . honey were investigated for the first time. Two representative samples from Poland (sample I) and Spain (sample II) were selected by pollen analysis (44–45% of Malus spp. pollen) and investigated by GC/FID/MS after headspace solid‐phase microextraction (HS‐SPME) and ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE). The apple honey is characterized by high percentage of shikimic acid‐pathway derivatives, as well as terpenes, norisoprenoids, and some other compounds such as coumaran and methyl 1H‐indole‐3‐acetate. The main compounds of the honey headspace were (sample I; sample II): benzaldehyde (9.4%; 32.1%), benzyl alcohol (0.3%; 14.4%), hotrienol (26.0%, 6.2%), and lilac aldehyde isomers (26.3%; 1.7%), but only Spanish sample contained car‐2‐en‐4‐one (10.2%). CH2Cl2 and pentane/Et2O 1 : 2 (v/v) were used for USE. The most relevant compounds identified in the extracts were: benzaldehyde (0.9–3.9%), benzoic acid (2.0–11.2%), terpendiol I (0.3–7.4%), coumaran (0.0–2.8%), 2‐phenylacetic acid (2.0–26.4%), methyl syringate (3.9–13.1%), vomifoliol (5.0–31.8%), and methyl 1H‐indole‐3‐acetate (1.9–10.2%). Apple honey contained also benzyl alcohol, 2‐phenylethanol, (E)‐cinnamaldehyde, (E)‐cinnamyl alcohol, eugenol, vanillin, and linalool that have been found previously in apple flowers, thus disclosing similarity of both volatile profiles.  相似文献

A variety of substituted aromatic acids were reduced to the corresponding alcohols by Nocardia asteroides JCM3016 under aerobic conditions. An isolated mold, Hormoconis resinae F328, could also reductively transform benzoate, the erythro isomer of (1R, 2S)-1-phenyl-1,2-propanediol being yielded as well as benzyl alcohol. C-1 of the diol was found to be derived from the α-carbon of benzoate by 13C-NMR analysis. The acyloin condensation between pyruvate and benzaldehyde formed from benzoate is assumed to participate in the diol formation. An ATP-dependent and NADPH-linked benzoate reductase (EC 1.2.1.30) and an NADPH-linked benzaldehyde reductase (EC 1.1.1.91) were demonstrated to participate in the benzoate reduction in both N. asteroides JCM 3016 and H. resinae F328.  相似文献

【目的】探究不同杀虫剂对重要入侵害虫西花蓟马及其本地近缘种花蓟马的毒力及对保护酶和解毒酶活性的影响,为进一步研究2种害虫的抗性管理提供依据。【方法】采用浸渍法测定5种田间常用杀虫剂对西花蓟马和花蓟马的毒力,并测定杀虫剂亚致死浓度(LC25)下2种蓟马体内保护酶和解毒酶活性的差异。【结果】不同杀虫剂对2种蓟马的毒力依次为:乙基多杀菌素甲维盐阿维菌素吡虫啉噻虫嗪,乙基多杀菌素对西花蓟马和花蓟马的LC_(50)分别为0.28和0.03 mg·L~(-1)。不同药剂的亚致死剂量(LC_(25))对西花蓟马和花蓟马体内保护酶和解毒酶活性普遍具有诱导作用。其中,阿维菌素对西花蓟马超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性诱导作用最强,为326.40 U·mg~(-1),是对照的9.37倍,而乙基多杀菌素对花蓟马SOD活性诱导作用最强,为245.35 U·mg~(-1),是对照的9.32倍;吡虫啉对西花蓟马和花蓟马过氧化物酶(POD)诱导作用最强,分别为298.67和246.79 U·mg~(-1),是对照的37.10和20.57倍;阿维菌素对西花蓟马和花蓟马过氧化氢酶(CAT)和羧酸酯酶(CarE)诱导作用最强,分别为298.67、246.79 U·mg~(-1)(CAT活性)和12.53、11.99 U·mg~(-1)(CarE活性);乙基多杀菌素对西花蓟马和花蓟马谷胱甘肽转移酶(GST)和乙酰胆碱酯酶(AChE)诱导作用最强,分别为77527.59、66927.39 U·mg~(-1)(GST活性)和2.34、2.22 U·mg~(-1)(AChE活性)。【结论】5种杀虫剂中,乙基多杀菌素对2种蓟马的毒力最强;西花蓟马对杀虫剂的解毒代谢能力强于花蓟马。  相似文献

A GC/MS analysis of the volatile constituents from the flowers of Norway Spruce, Picea abies, has been carried out. The volatile constituents of the female flowers were distinctly different from those of the male flowers and the twigs. Characteristic constituents are methyl and ethyl benzoate, methyl and ethyl salicylate, methyl and ethyl butanoate, borneol and bornyl acetate. In the scent from the male flowers we could only detect the same monoterpenes as in the twigs. In Larix sibirica methyl benzoate, methyl salicylate, borneol and bornyl acetate were detected in the female flowers and, in the female flowers of Pinus sylvestris, methyl salicylate was found.  相似文献

Floral scent of 13 night-flowering Silene species (Caryophyllaceae) was collected by headspace adsorption and analysed via gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Benzenoids together with isoprenoids dominated the scent in all species. Among the benzenoids, benzaldehyde (Silene subconica 35.5%, Silene succulenta 23.1%, Silene sericea 15.6%, Silene vulgaris 12.2%, and Silene nutans 9.9%), methylbenzoate (Silene saxifraga 96.1%, S. succulenta 15.2%), benzyl acetate (Silene dichotoma 37.8%, S. nutans 30.1%, Silene italica 9.0%, and Silene latifolia 5.5%), or benzyl alcohol (Silene viscosa 36.1%) occur in the largest amounts. p-Cresol is only found in the floral scent of S. dichotoma (28.5%). Among the isoprenoids, monoterpenes occur in the largest amounts (myrcene 23% in Silene chlorantha, trans-β-ocimene 27.2% in S. nutans and 34.9% in S. sericea, fenchyl acetate 12.7% in S. chlorantha, β-linalool 40.5% in S. chlorantha and 14.5% in S. italica). Relatively high amounts of lilac compounds occur in S. latifolia (49.1%), Silene otites (35.7%), S. subconica (15.2%), and S. vulgaris (59.6%). Higher amounts of sesquiterpenes (isoprenoids) were only found in Silene vallesia with β-bourbonene and γ-muurolene.The vast majority of chemicals identified are common components of a wide array of scented angiosperm flowers. Nevertheless, the results conform most strongly with the findings in other night-blooming and/or moth-pollinated flowers. All investigated Silene species follow the general trend of floral scent compounds typical for moth-pollinated flowers, i.e. flowers having acyclic terpene alcohols (e.g. linalool), aromatic alcohols (benzyl alcohol, 2-phenylethanol) and esters derived from them, and small amounts of nitrogen-containing compounds.  相似文献
