Given their recent worldwide declines and extinctions, characterization of species-level diversity is of critical importance for large-scale biodiversity assessments and conservation of amphibians. This task is made difficult by the existence of cryptic species complexes, species groups comprising closely related and morphologically analogous species. The combination of morphology, genetic, and bioacoustic analyses permits robust and accurate species identification. Using these methods, we discovered two undescribed Xenophrys species, namely Xenophrys lini sp. nov. and Xenophrys cheni sp. nov. from the middle range of Luoxiao Mountains, southeast China. These two new species can be reliably distinguished from other known congeners by morphological and morphometric differences, distinctness in male advertisement calls, and substantial genetic distances (>3.6%) based on the mitochondrial 16s and 12s rRNA genes. The two new species, together with X. jinggangensis, are sympatric in the middle range of Luoxiao Mountains but may be isolated altitudinally and ecologically. Our study provides a first step to help resolve previously unrecognized cryptic biodiversity and provides insights into the understanding of Xenophrys diversification in the mountain complexes of southeast China.  相似文献

概述了拱背果蝇属(Lordiphosa)中双齿拱背果蝇种组(denticeps species—group)的分类状况,并记述了分布在云南省的4个新种,即鹤颈拱背果蝇(Lordiphosa gruicollara sp.nov.),突拱背果蝇(Lordiphosa eminens sp.nov.),凹缘拱背果蝇(Lordiphosa incidens sp.nov.)和具毛拱背果蝇(Lordiphosa piliferous sp.nov.)。对目前在云南发现的该种组10个物种的地理分布做了初步分析,结果显示其分布呈明显的地理替代。模式标本均藏于北京大学生命科学学院。  相似文献

In this study we revise the cheilostome bryozoan genus Buffonellaria Canu & Bassler, 1927 and its Mediterranean and north-east Atlantic species, thereby addressing several existing problems. First, a lectotype for the type species, Buffonellaria divergens (Smitt, 1873) from Florida, is chosen, which proves to be distinct from the European species. Second, the two hitherto established north-east Atlantic species [ Buffonellaria nebulosa ( Jullien & Calvet, 1903 ) and Buffonellaria porcellanum Arístegui Ruiz, 1987], are redescribed, which were poorly documented until now. Third, close inspection of material, collected from Spitsbergen to tropical West Africa, using scanning electron microscopy reveals that the actual number of species, all previously referred to either B. divergens or Stephanosella biaperta (Michelin, 1848), is distinctly greater in the north-east Atlantic than has been previously acknowledged. As a result, seven new species are introduced ( Buffonellaria acorensis sp. nov. , Buffonellaria antoniettae sp. nov. , Buffonellaria arctica sp. nov. , Buffonellaria harmelini sp. nov. , Buffonellaria jensi sp. nov. , Buffonellaria muriella sp. nov. , and Buffonellaria ritae sp. nov. ), whereas two are left in open nomenclature. With the increase in number of species, the extremely broad geographical range of distribution assumed for B. divergens breaks down to numerous restricted areas. Two previously recorded new species of the large-eye seabream genus Gymnocranius (Gymnocranius sp. D and Gymnocranius sp. E) remain undescribed. Here we describe Gymnocranius sp. E as Gymnocranius obesus sp. nov. This new species is morphologically distinct from all other known species under Gymnocranius by the following combination of characters: relatively deep body, with ratio of standard length to body depth 2.2–2.4; protruding large eye, with eye diameter about equal to or slightly larger than inter-orbital width; caudal fin moderately forked; no blue spots or wavy blue lines on cheek and snout in adults; fourth transversal dark bar on flank running from the sixth spine of the dorsal fin to the origin of the anal fin; anal, caudal and dorsal fins drab with yellowish to yellow margins. Gymnocranius obesus sp. nov. is distinct from G. griseus, with which it has been previously confused by a relatively larger head, scales above lateral line without dark basal patch, and a smaller number of front scales on the dorsal side of the head. Gymnocranius obesus sp. nov. is genetically distinct from its closest known relative, Gymnocranius sp. D by 104 diagnostic nucleotide characters, which translates into a 9.6% sequence divergence at the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene. Gymnocranius obesus sp. nov. reaches a length of at least 295 mm. Its distribution, from the Ryukyu Islands to Bali, including Taiwan and the Flores Sea, mostly coincides with the western half of the Coral Triangle.  相似文献

The genus Plectocarpon is included in the Opegraphaceae (Opegraphales). It is distinguished by rounded mono- or multilocular, often stromatic ascomata with a reduced non-carbonized exciple, asci of the Opegrapha- typs, (1–)3(-6)-septate colourless spores with a distinct perispore and anastomosed paraphysoids. The genus includes at least 10 species, all lichenicolous on macrolichens, belonging mainly to the Peltigerales. 5 species are here described as new: P. lambinonii sp. nov. on Lobaria isidiosa and L. retigera from Papua New Guinea, Russia and Rwanda, P. macaronesiae sp. nov. on Lobaria puimonaria and L. suhlaevis from the Azores, the Canary Islands and Madeira, P. sampaianae sp. nov. on Pannaria sampaiana from Great Britain and Spain, P. scrobiculatae sp. nov. on Lobaria scrobiculata from France, Great Britain, Norway and Spain and P. usneae sp. nov. on Usnea exasperata from Rwanda. An additional undescribed species on Sticta leami from Papua New Guinea is mentioned. Most species form distinct galls on their host lichens.  相似文献

本文记述中国潜叶蜂族Fenusini6属8种,其中包括2新属6新种及4新组合种:大眼郑潜叶蜂Zhenginamegommagen.etsp.nov,吕氏华潜叶蜂Sinofeunsaluigen.etsp.nov,黑鳞丝潜叶蜂Messanigrotegulasp.nov,痕缝脊潜叶蜂Parnavestigialissp.nov,沟缝脊潜叶蜂Parnadistinctasp.nov,黄首原潜叶蜂Profenusaxanthocephalasp.nov.;槭树雅潜叶蜂Anafsnusaacericola(Xiao1992)comb.nov。恢复臀潜叶蜂属AfusaMalaise,将ParafenusaZhelochovtsev(1976)降为AfusaMalaise1964的次异名,原Paarafenusa属下的种类移入Afusa属,建立3个新组合:Afusapruni(Zhelochovtsev1976)comb.nov,Afusacerasi(Zhelochovtsev1976)comb.nov,Afusamaharibiana(Zhelochovtsev1976)comb.nov。新属新种附有主要形态特征图。文中还编制了潜叶蜂族的已知底检索表和Profenusa,Anafeausa,Parna属的已知种检索表。雅潜叶蜂属Anafenusa和脊潜叶蜂属Parna为中国新纪录属。迄今,潜叶蜂族已知24属约60种;中国已记述12属22种。  相似文献

We discovered a new species of the genus Gracixalus,Gracixalus tianlinensis sp.nov.which is morphologically almost similar to G.jinggangensis,G.jinxiuensis and G.sapaensis,but is distinguished from these species and all other rhacophorids in China and adjoining countries by a combination of the following characters:(1)SVL 30.3-35.9 mm in male,35.6-38.7 mm in female,(2)head length less than head width,(3)vomerine teeth absent,(4)supratympanic fold distinct,(5)axilla and posterior surface of flanks pale yellow,(6)nuptial pads distinct on Finger I and slightly visible on Finger II,(7)dorsum brown to beige,with an inverse Y-shaped dark brown marking,(8)single subgular vocal sac.Our preliminary phylogenetic analyses implied G.tianlinensis sp.nov.is sister to G.sapaensis with well-supported values.Currently,this new species is known to be distributed in montane evergreen forests in association with montane bamboo in Cenwanglaoshan National Nature Reserve,Tianlin County,Guangxi,China.  相似文献

Nematode diversity may seriously be underestimated when taking into account cryptic speciation. Thoracostoma trachygaster is commonly found in kelp holdfasts along the California coastline and was recently shown to consist of at least two distinct molecular clades (I and II). Here, we provide detailed morphological analysis of both clades, based on measurements taken from video vouchers of respectively eight and 16 individuals from the previous study, as well as 80 newly collected specimens from four Californian beaches. The latter were vouchered, measured, and then subjected to molecular analyses of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase c subunit I (COI) gene, and the ribosomal D2D3 and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions. This integrative approach shows that the three molecular clades are phylogenetically and morphologically distinct species, but a combination of morphological characters is needed to distinguish them. Two new species, Thoracostoma fatimae sp. nov. and Thoracostoma igniferum sp. nov. , are identified and described. The spicule length of T. fatimae sp. nov. is significantly shorter than that of T. trachygaster. Thoracostoma igniferum sp. nov. can be distinguished by the irregular posterior edge of the cephalic capsule and the two internal subdorsal tropis‐like projections in the wall of the cephalic capsule, which are lacking in T. fatimae sp. nov. and T. trachygaster. © 2012 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 164 , 18–35.  相似文献
