Individual typological features of behavior of dogs were investigated by the method of choice between the low-valuable food available constantly and food of high quality presented with low probability. Animals were subjected to instrumental conditioning with the same conditioned stimuli but different types of reinforcement. Depression of a white pedal was always reinforced with meat-bread-crumb mixture, depression of a black pedal was reinforced with two pieces of liver (with probabilities of 100, 40, 33, 20, or 0%). The choice of reinforcement depended on probability of valuable food and individual typological features of the nervous system of a dog. Decreasing the probability of the reinforcement value to 40-20% revealed differences in behavior of dogs. Dogs of the first group, presumably with the weak type of the nervous system, more frequently pressed the white pedal (always reinforced) than the black pedal thus "avoiding a situation of risk" to receive an empty cup. They displayed symptoms of neurosis: whimper, refusals of food or of the choice of reinforcement, and obtrusive movements. Dogs of the second group, presumably with the strong type of the nervous system, more frequently pressed the black pedal (more valuable food) for the low-probability reward until they obtained the valuable food. They did not show neurosis symptoms and were not afraid of "situation of risk". A decrease in probability of the valuable reinforcement increased a percentage of long-latency depressions of pedals. It can be probably suggested that this phenomenon was associated with increasing involvement of cognitive processes, when contributions of the assessments of probability and value of the reinforcement to decision making became approximately equal. Choice between the probability and value of alimentary reinforcement is a good method for revealing individual typological features of dogs.  相似文献

The role of the prefrontal cortex was investigated on the reaction of the active choice of the two feeders under changes value and probability reinforcement. The experiments were performed on 2 dogs with prefrontal ablation (g. proreus). Before the lesions the dogs were taught to receive food in two different feeders to conditioned stimuli with equally probable alimentary reinforcement. After ablation in the inter-trial intervals the dogs were running from the one feeder to another. In the answer to conditioned stimuli for many times the dogs choose the same feeder. The disturbance of the behavior after some times completely restored. In the experiments with competition of probability events and values of reinforcement the dogs chose the feeder with low-probability but better quality of reinforcement. In the experiments with equal value but different probability the intact dogs chose the feeder with higher probability. In our experiments the dogs with prefrontal lesions chose the each feeder equiprobably. Thus in condition of free behavior one of different functions of the prefrontal cortex is the reactions choose with more probability of reinforcement.  相似文献

Four experiments in rats examined whether occasion setters and target CSs play qualitatively different roles in occasion-setting discriminations. Two visual occasion setters, A and B, signalled reinforcement of two auditory target CSs, x and y, with sucrose and oil (A…x→suc, B…y→oil, A-, B-, x-, y-); in addition two transfer CSs w and z were paired with sucrose and oil (w→suc, z→oil). When w and z were substituted for x and y (A…w, B…w, A…z, B…z) more responding was observed when both stimuli had been paired with the same outcome (Experiments 1 and 3a). No effect was observed when two visual "pseudo-occasion setters", C and D (paired with sucrose and oil in a trace relation to the US:C…→suc, D…→oil), were substituted for the occasion setters A and B (C…x, D…x, C…y, D…y; Experiments 2, 3b and 4). These results could not be explained in terms of Pavlovian summation: responding to combinations of Pavlovian CSs paired with same or different outcomes was either the same, or lower when both stimuli had been paired with the same outcome (Experiment 4). Implications of these results for theories of occasion setting and configural learning are discussed.  相似文献

In short-term experiments, male Wistar rats were made diabetic for 10 days with a single injection of streptozotocin (65 mg/kg body weight). One group of diabetic rats was treated with insulin for 3 days prior to sacrifice. In long-term experiments, vitamin D replete or vitamin D depleted rats were made diabetic for 6 weeks. Criteria for diabetes were loss of weight, glycosuria (Tes-Tape), and hyperglycemia. In long-term diabetic rats the activity of renal mitochondrial 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-(OH)D3) 1 alpha-hydroxylase was significantly decreased and that of 25-(OH)D3 24-hydroxylase increased. However, the parathyroid hormone (PTH) sensitive renal adenylate cyclase activity of diabetic rats was not different from that of the nondiabetic rats in either the vitamin D replete group or the vitamin D depleted group. On the other hand, the PTH-sensitive renal adenylate cyclase activity was significantly higher in short-term diabetic rats than in control and insulin-treated rats. These differences were observed at doses of 10(-8) to 10(-5) M of PTH. This study has demonstrated for the first time that there are differences in the PTH-sensitive adenylate cyclase response between long-term and short-term diabetic rats. The hypersensitivity to PTH of the renal adenylate cyclase observed in short-term diabetic rats probably represents a response to insulin deficiency during the early development of diabetes mellitus in the rats.  相似文献

Selective antagonists of D1 and D2 receptors (SCH 23 390 and raclopride respectively) were injected to rats divided on the basis of preliminary experiments into groups of"self-controlled" (preference of valuable but delayed reinforcement) and "impulsive" (choice of less valuable but immediate reinforcement) animals. Number of omissions of reactions and their latencies were recorded. In "self-controlled" rats, both drugs increased the number of reactions for less valuable immediate reinforcement, i.e., increased impulsiveness, whereas practically did not change the behavior of "impulsive" animals. Introduction of SCH 23 390 to animals ofboth groups increased the number of reaction omissions the effect being stronger in "self-controlled" animals. Raclopride also increased the number of reaction omissions in "self-controlled" rats but only on the next day after the injection. In "impulsive" animals, both drugs increased the latencies of reactions.  相似文献

Using a successive discrimination procedure with rats, three experiments investigated the contribution of reinforcement rate and amount of S(Delta) exposure on the acquisition of an operant discrimination. S(D) components and were always 2 min in length, while S(Delta) (extinction) components were either 1 min or 4 min in length; responses in S(D) were reinforced on one of four schedules. In Experiment 1, each of eight groups were exposed to one possible combination of rate of reinforcement and S(Delta) component length. At every level of reinforcement, the 4 min S(Delta) groups acquired the discrimination more quickly. However, within each level of reinforcement, the proportions of responding in S(D) as a function cumulative S(Delta) exposure were equivalent, regardless of the number of reinforcers earned in S(D), suggesting that extinction is the "hallmark" of discrimination. Experiment 2 sought to replicate these results in a within-subjects design, and although the 4 min S(Delta) conditions always produced superior discriminations, the lack of discriminated responding in some conditions suggested that stimulus disparity was reduced. Experiment 3 clarified those results and extended the finding that the acquisition of operant discrimination closely parallels extinction of responding in S(Delta). In sum, it appears that higher reinforcement rates and longer S(Delta) exposure facilitate the acquisition of discriminated operant responding.  相似文献

Two appetitive conditioning experiments with rats investigated whether the degree of generalization between a compound and its component parts is fixed or variable. Both experiments used a two-stage transfer design. In Stage 1, the elemental groups learned that a compound and its component parts signaled the same outcome (i.e. C+, D+, CD+), whereas the configural groups learned that a compound and its component parts signaled different outcomes (i.e. C+, D+, CD-, where '+' is pellets and '-' is no pellets). In Stage 2, the rats were tested for reductions in generalization. Experiment 1 found no evidence that past configural learning reduced generalization when a new set of alike-treated A and B elements were presented in compound for the first time. Experiment 2 found no evidence that past configural learning reduced generalization when the stimuli of Stage 1 were presented in a new C-, D-, CD+ relation. In contrast to findings with humans, these results suggest that past experience plays a minor role in how stimuli are encoded in animal conditioning.  相似文献

In studying of dogs behaviour in coordinates system "Requirements and probability of their satisfaction" it has been established that selection of behaviour strategy is closely connected with individual typological properties of animals. In experiments with equally-probable alimentary reinforcement a direct correlation was found between the strength parameter of the nervous system and the strategy of dogs behaviour. Animals of strong types manifested the character of reaction which consisted in determination and goal-directedness, while the animals of the weak type manifested other character, having features of uncertainty, indefinition, hesitations. In conditions of conflict between probability and value of reinforcement the dogs manifested two opposite strategies of behaviour: orientation to highly probable events (choleric and phlegmatic) and to low-probable events (sanguinic and melancholic) what is connected with individual properties of functioning and the character of interaction of four brain structures (frontal cortex, hippocampus, hypothalamus, amygdala).  相似文献

Research has demonstrated that rats increase their rate of lever pressing for sucrose reinforcement when food-pellet reinforcement will soon be available within the session. Recent results suggest that this increase occurs because stimuli in the session come to signal different levels of overall reinforcement. The present experiment tested this idea by having rats respond in two types of session. In one, they pressed lever A for 1% sucrose reinforcers in the first half of the session and lever B for food-pellet reinforcers in the second half (the opposing lever was retracted in the respective half). In the other, they pressed lever B for 1% sucrose reinforcers in the first half and lever A for 1% sucrose reinforcers in the second. Thus, the presence of lever A in the first half of the session was predictive of upcoming food-pellet reinforcement, but only lever B was ever used to obtain food pellets. Subjects responded at a higher rate on lever B in the first half of the session than on lever A, despite food-pellet reinforcement being unavailable in such sessions. Furthermore, they responded at a higher rate on lever B during probe sessions in which both levers were available. These results demonstrate that stimulus control over induction occurs when a stimulus becomes differentially associated with a heightened level of reinforcement. However, questions remain as to whether this association is Pavlovian or whether stimuli with "predictive value" may ever lead to induction.  相似文献

Three experiments were conducted using a conditioned taste aversion procedure with rats to examine the effect of nonreinforced presentations of a conditioned stimulus (CS) on its ability to compete with a target stimulus for manifest conditioned responding. Two CSs (A and B) were presented in a serial compound and then paired with the unconditioned stimulus. CS A was first paired with the US and then presented without the US (i.e., extinction) prior to reinforced presentation of the AB compound. Experiment 1 showed that A was poor at competing with B for conditioned responding when given conditioning and extinction prior to reinforcement of AB relative to a group that received both A and B for the first time during compound conditioning. That is, an extinguished A stimulus allowed greater manifest acquisition to B. Experiment 2 found that extinction treatment produced a poor CR to the pretrained and extinguished CS itself following compound conditioning. Experiment 3 found that interposing a retention interval after extinction of A and prior to compound conditioning enhanced A's ability to compete with B. The results of these experiments are discussed with regard to different theories of extinction and associative competition.  相似文献

In photosystem II (PSII), the redox properties of the non-heme iron complex (Fe complex) are sensitive to the redox state of quinones (Q(A/)(B)), which may relate to the electron/proton transfer. We calculated the redox potentials for one-electron oxidation of the Fe complex in PSII [E(m)(Fe)] based on the reference value E(m)(Fe) = +400 mV at pH 7 in the Q(A)(0)Q(B)(0) state, considering the protein environment in atomic detail and the associated changes in protonation pattern. Our model yields the pH dependence of E(m)(Fe) with -60 mV/pH as observed in experimental redox titration. We observed significant deprotonation at D1-Glu244 in the hydrophilic loop region upon Fe complex oxidation. The calculated pK(a) value for D1-Glu244 depends on the Fe complex redox state, yielding a pK(a) of 7.5 and 5.5 for Fe(2+) and Fe(3+), respectively. To account for the pH dependence of E(m)(Fe), a model involving not only D1-Glu244 but also the other titratable residues (five Glu in the D-de loops and six basic residues near the Fe complex) seems to be needed, implying the existence of a network of residues serving as an internal proton reservoir. Reduction of Q(A/B) yields +302 mV and +268 mV for E(m)(Fe) in the Q(A)(-)Q(B)(0) and Q(A)(0)Q(B)(-) states, respectively. Upon formation of the Q(A)(0)Q(B)(-) state, D1-His252 becomes protonated. Forming Fe(3+)Q(B)H(2) by a proton-coupled electron transfer process from the initial state Fe(2+)Q(B)(-) results in deprotonation of D1-His252. The two EPR signals observed at g = 1.82 and g = 1.9 in the Fe(2+)Q(A)(-) state of PSII may be attributed to D1-His252 with variable and fixed protonation, respectively.  相似文献

Correlation of shift and stay reactions was studied in rats in the process of singling out of the win-stay dominant. It was found that in rat which had no previous experience in receiving reinforcement in multi-arm maze, both the shifts and stay reactions were observed with the dominance of the shifts. In experienced rats formation of the win-stay strategy using a new direction required learning and had three stages: the stage of initial dominant, of displacements and of singling out a new dominant. Formation of a new protracted dominant of win-stay could be gradual (through formation of short-term dominants) or uneven. At repeated changes of the reinforcement place both the tendency to uneven transfer and delayed periods in formation of the protracted dominant were observed.  相似文献

Dimethylcyclosiloxanes (DMCS) are components of silicone gel containing implants and are known inducers of human drug metabolizing enzymes. The effects of the major DMCS, octamethyltetracyclosiloxane (D4) on cytochrome P450 (CYP) induction were examined in young adult, mature, and pregnant female Sprague-Dawley rats. Also, the ability of D4 administered to pregnant dams to affect CYP expression in fetal liver was examined. Female young, mature, and pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were administered 0, 5, 20, and 100 mg/kg D4 daily by gavage for 8 days. Liver microsomal CYP (CYP2B, CYP3A, CYP1A) concentrations were evaluated by Western blots using specific antisera, and CYP activities were assayed using CYP selective assays. D4 treatment resulted in a significant induction of CYP2B and CYP3A isoforms. CYP induction was dose and age dependent. A comparison of the inducibility of CYP3A protein by D4 in rats from different age groups showed that the degree of increase was the highest in the pregnant rats at doses of 20 mg/kg D4 or higher. The mature rats had a lesser degree of responsiveness than did the young rats at the dose of 100 mg/ kg D4. Significant increases in CYP2B immunoreactive protein concentrations were observed in young and mature rats given D4 at doses >5 mg/kg and in pregnant rats at doses >20 mg/kg. Maximal CYP2B induction detected with blotting was more than 90-fold in mature rats; however, no significant changes were detected in CYP1A expression. There was a 20% increase of liver to body weight ratio in the mature rats treated with 100 mg/kg D4. D4 has different inductive properties in female rats of different ages and reproductive status. Also, D4 administered to the pregnant dam is capable of inducing CYP expression in fetal liver as well as decreasing fetal body weight.  相似文献

In positive serial conditional discrimination, animals respond during a target stimulus when it is preceded by a feature stimulus, but they do not respond when the same target stimulus is presented alone. Moreover, the feature and target stimuli are separated from each other by an empty interval. The present work aimed to investigate if two durations (4 or 16 s) of the same feature stimulus (light) could modulate the operant responses of rats to different levers (A and B) during a 5-s target stimulus (tone). In the present study, lever A was associated with the 4-s light, and lever B was associated with the 16-s light. A 5-s empty interval was included between the light and the tone. In the same training procedure, the rats were also presented with the 5-s tone without the preceding light stimuli. In these trials, the responses were not reinforced. We evaluated the hippocampal involvement of these behavioral processes by selectively lesioning the dentate gyrus with colchicine. Once trained, the rats were submitted to a test using probe trials without reinforcement. They were presented with intermediate durations of the feature stimulus (light) to obtain a temporal bisection curve recorded during the exposure to the target stimuli. The rats from both groups learned to respond with high rates during tones preceded by light and with low rates during tones presented alone, which indicated acquisition of the serial conditional discrimination. The rats were able to discriminate between the 4- and 16-s lights by correctly choosing lever A or B. In the test, the temporal bisection curves from both experimental groups showed a bisection point at the arithmetic mean between 4 and 16 s. Such processes were not impaired by the dentate gyrus lesion. Thus, our results showed that different durations of a feature stimulus could result in conditional properties. However, this processing did not appear to depend on the dentate gyrus alone.  相似文献

The serial order in which events occur can be a signal for different outcomes and therefore might be a determinant of how an animal should respond. In this report, we propose a novel design for studying serial order learning in Pavlovian conditioning. In both Experiments 1a and 1b, hungry rats were trained with successively presented pairs of auditory and visual stimuli (e.g., A --> B) using four different stimuli (A-D). Four orders were paired with food (A --> B, B --> C, C --> D, D --> A) while the reversals were extinguished (B --> A, C --> B, D --> C, A --> D). An analysis of responding from the second element of each pair showed that the rats discriminated trial types that preceded food from those that did not. A replication of the effect using a completely counterbalanced design is described in Experiment 1b. These results suggest that rats can use the serial or temporal order of two sequentially presented non-overlapping elements as the basis for discrimination. Two associative accounts are suggested as possible mechanisms for solving the discrimination.  相似文献

Heat resistance of Campylobacter and Yersinia strains by three methods   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Two methods of determining the heat resistance of bacteria, a glass cup and a test tube method, were compared with a method using capillary tubes. Three strains of Yersinia enterocolitica, one of Campylobacter jejuni and two of C. coli were tested in physiological saline. The differences between the results obtained by the glass cup method and the reference method were not statistically significant for five strains and were small also for the other, a Yersinia strain. D values obtained by the glass cup method at 58, 60 and 62 degrees C were 1.4-1.8, 0.40-0.51 and 0.15-0.19 min (zeta values 4.00-4.52 degrees C) for the Yersinia strains, and 0.42, 0.13 and 0.07 min (zeta value 5.07 degrees C) for one C. coli strain. For the other Campylobacter strains, D values of 0.71-0.78, 0.24-0.28 and 0.12-0.14 min (zeta values 4.94 and 5.60 degrees C) were recorded at 56, 58 and 60 degrees C. D values obtained at 60 degrees C by the test tube method were 2.7-5.0 min and were considered to be unrealistic.  相似文献

For four weeks after weaning, rats were fed either on a diet without any calcium utilization factors (-D) or on the same diet with cholecalciferol (+D) or sorbitol (S). In the -D group, blood calcium levels decreased whilst alkaline phosphatase activities in blood and bone were increased. For +D and S groups, these parameters were normal. Using everted or in situ ligatured loops, calcium transfer from a CaCl2 + 45Ca solution was measured in the duodenum, the jejunum and in the ileum. Alkaline phosphatase activity from these regions was also measured. For the three diets and for all regions of the intestine, there was a good correlation between calcium transfer and phosphatase activity. These values were higher in the duodenum than in the ileum or jejunum, and also higher in the ileum in the +D group than in the -D and S groups although this was not significant. These low levels in the S group which were, sometimes, even lower than those seen in the -D group contrasted with blood and bone levels of alkaline phosphatase, which were normal for the S and +D groups. There was also a discrepancy between the low values found for both phosphatase activity and calcium transfer in rats S in the experiments where the calcium transfer assay was carried out in calcium solution and those found in experiments were both calcium and carbohydrate were present. In the latter, enhanced levels of intestinal phosphatase activity were observed, as well as a marked, albeit delayed, increase in intestinal calcium transfer. Onset latency and rapid offset are reminiscent of induction of bacterial enzymes by carbohydrates.  相似文献

Concentrations of dopamine, serotonin, and some of their metabolites were analyzed by means of HPLC in brain samples obtained from rats operantly conditioned to turn in circles to obtain water reinforcement. In experiment 1 using Wistar rats, no differences in the levels of transmitters or metabolites were detected between brain samples (frontal cortex, ventral striatum, dorsal striatum, septum, amygdala, substantia nigra) from the hemispheres located ipsi- and contralateral to the direction of turning. A higher dopamine metabolism (indicated by higher metabolite/transmitter ratios) in ventral striatum, dorsal striatum, and amygdala was found after 15 min than after 5 min of turning in both hemispheres. A higher dopamine metabolism was found in water-deprived rats compared to nondeprived rats independently of whether or not deprived rats were trained to turn for water reinforcement. In two additional experiments, no differences in dopamine metabolism were found between the ipsi- and contralateral striatum of Wistar rats after 25 min and Sprague-Dawley rats after 10 min of operantly conditioned turning. The present results confirm that dopamine metabolism can change with different behavioral or physiological states; they do not support the hypothesis that conditioned turning is correlated with asymmetrical changes in the metabolism of dopamine or serotonin in the brain.  相似文献

Three experiments investigated foraging by rats and pigeons. In Experiment 1, each response on a manipulandum delivered food to a cup, with the distance between the manipulandum and the cup varying across conditions. The number of responses made before traveling to collect and eat the food increased with distance for rats, but not for pigeons. In Experiment 2, two manipulanda were placed at different distances from a fixed food source; both pigeons and rats preferentially used the manipulandum closest to the food source. Experiment 3 was a systematic replication of Experiment 1 with pigeons. In different conditions, each peck on the left key increased the upcoming hopper duration by 0.5, 1.5 or 2.5 s. Completing a ratio requirement on the right key of 1, 4, 8, 16 or 32 pecks, depending on the condition, then produced the food hopper for a duration that depended on the number of prior left pecks. As the ratio requirement increased on the right key, pigeons responded more on the left key and earned more food. Overall, the results replicate previous research, underlining similarities and differences between these species. The results are discussed in terms of optimal foraging, reinforcer sensitivity and delay discounting.  相似文献
