Using two PGF treatments 14 days apart as a way to enhance estrus detection rate following the 2nd treatment is a reproductive management tool that continues to be used on large dairy farms. In one study, in cows with a functional CL and a dominant follicle, treatment with cloprostenol vs. dinoprost resulted in greater peripheral estradiol concentrations. The objective of the present study was to determine if cloprostenol could enhance pregnancy rates of cows in a large dairy herd using a PGF program for 1st artificial insemination (AI). Lactating dairy cows (n = 4549) were randomly assigned to receive two treatments of either 500 μg cloprostenol or 25 mg dinoprost 14 days apart, with the 2nd treatment on the 1st day of the voluntary waiting period (57 DIM). Cows detected in estrus within 5 days after the 2nd treatment were inseminated. There was no effect of treatment on day of estrus detection, with 78% of cows inseminated on Days 3 or 4 following treatment. Cloprostenol increased (P < 0.01) estrus detection rates in 1st parity cows compared to dinoprost, 42.4 vs. 34.0%. In cows inseminated on Days 3 or 4 after treatment, cloprostenol increased (P = 0.05) conception rates compared to dinoprost, 38.3 vs. 34.4%. When treatments and parities were combined, conception rates increased (P < 0.02) with interval after treatment (27.0, 36.4, and 44.5% for Days 1 or 2, Days 3 or 4, and Day 5, respectively). Cloprostenol increased (P = 0.02) overall pregnancy rate compared to dinoprost, 14.4 vs. 12.2%. In summary, cloprostenol increased fertility in 1st parity cows inseminated on Days 3 or 4 following treatment and subsequently enhanced pregnancy rates of 1st parity lactating dairy cows compared to dinoprost. Fertility appeared greater in cows expected to have had a young antral ovarian follicle at treatment.  相似文献

Cloprostenol (500 ug) and dinoprost tromethamine (65 mg in three doses) were similarly effective in controlling estrus during superovulation with FSH-P. Estrous response was 97.3% and 99.5%, respectively. Embryo production was the same measured in terms of the number transferable, total, percent transferable and number of ova cleaved. The percent cleaved was higher in the dinoprost group (75.5%) than the cloprostenol group (67.4%, P=0.019). The number (P=0.04) and proportions (P=0.009) of degenerate embryos were higher in the dinoprost group as compared to the cloprostenol group (2.9 and 27.9% vs 2.2 and 20.5%).  相似文献

In the present study, we attempted to clarify the role of nitric oxide (NO) and its release during the ischemia-reperfusion rat testis. Eight-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into seven groups: age-matched control rats, ischemia (30 minutes)-reperfusion (30 minutes) rats without NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) and L-arginine (L-Arg) treatment, ischemia (30 minutes)-reperfusion (30 minutes) rats treated with L-NAME (10, 30, and 100 mg/kg), ischemia-reperfusion rats treated with L-Arg (10 and 30 mg/kg). Sixty minutes prior to induction of ischemia, L-NAME or L-Arg was administrated intraperitoneally. Real-time monitoring of blood flow and NO release were measured simultaneously with a laser Doppler flowmeter and an NO-selective electrode, respectively. NO2-NO3 and malonaldehyde (MDA) concentrations were measured in the experimental testes. Furthermore, we investigated possible morphological changes in the testis. Clamping of the testicular artery decreased blood flow to 5–20% of the basal level measured before clamping. Immediately following clipping of the artery, NO release rapidly increased. After removing the clip, NO release gradually returned to the basal level. This phenomenon was enhanced by treatment with L-Arg and inhibited by treatment with L-NAME. NO2-NO3 concentrations were increased by treatment with L-Arg and decreased by treatment with L-NAME, while MDA concentrations were increased by treatment with L-NAME and were decreased by treatment with L-Arg. In histological studies, the ischemia-reperfusion caused infiltration of leukocytes and a rupture of microvessels in the testis. Our data suggest that NO has cytoprotective effects on ischemia-reperfusion injury in the rat testis.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of progesterone and cloprostenol (a PGF analogue) on ovarian follicular development and ovulation in prepubertal heifers. In Experiment 1, crossbred Hereford heifers (Bos taurus; 10 to 12 mo old, 255 to 320 kg) were assigned randomly to three groups and given (1) an intravaginal progesterone-releasing insert (CIDR; P group, n = 13); (2) a CIDR plus 500 μg cloprostenol im (PGF analogue) at CIDR removal (PPG group, n = 11); or (3) no treatment (control group, n = 14). The CIDR inserts were removed 5 d after follicular wave emergence. Progesterone-treated heifers (P and PPG groups) had a larger dominant follicle than that of the control group (P = 0.01). The percentage ovulating was highest in the PPG group (8 of 11, 73%), intermediate in the P group (4 of 13, 31%), and lowest in the control group (1 of 14, 7%; P < 0.02). In Experiment 2, 16 heifers (14 to 16 mo old, 300 to 330 kg) were designated to have follicular wave emergence synchronized with either a CIDR and 1 mg estradiol benzoate im (EP group, n = 8) on Day 0 (beginning of experiment) or by transvaginal ultrasound-guided ablation of all follicles ≥5 mm on Day 3 (FA group, n = 8). On Day 7, CIDRs were removed in the EP group, and all heifers received 500 μg cloprostenol im. Ovulation was detected in 6 of 8 heifers (75%) in both groups. In summary, the use of PGF with or without exogenous progesterone treatment increased the percentage ovulating in heifers close to spontaneous puberty.  相似文献

The interactions between NO and O(2) in activated macrophages were analysed by incorporating previous cell culture and enzyme kinetic results into a novel reaction-diffusion model for plate cultures. The kinetic factors considered were: (i) the effect of O(2) on NO production by inducible NO synthase (iNOS); (ii) the effect of NO on NO synthesis by iNOS; (iii) the effect of NO on respiratory and other O(2) consumption; and (iv) the effects of NO and O(2) on NO consumption by a possible NO dioxygenase (NOD). Published data obtained by varying the liquid depth in macrophage cultures provided a revealing test of the model, because varying the depth should perturb both the O(2) and the NO concentrations at the level of the cells. The model predicted that the rate of NO(2)(-) production should be nearly constant, and that the net rate of NO production should decline sharply with increases in liquid depth, in excellent agreement with the experimental findings. In further agreement with available results for macrophage cultures, the model predicted that net NO synthesis should be more sensitive to liquid depth than to the O(2) concentration in the headspace. The main reason for the decrease in NO production with increasing liquid depth was the modulation of NO synthesis by NO, with O(2) availability playing only a minor role. The model suggests that it is the ability of iNOS to consume NO, as well as to synthesize it, that creates very sensitive feedback control, setting an upper bound on the NO concentration of approximately 1 microM. The effect of NO consumption by other possible pathways (e.g., NOD) would be similar to that of iNOS, in that it would help limit net NO production. The O(2) utilized during enzymatic NO consumption is predicted to make the O(2) demands of activated macrophages much larger than those of unactivated ones (where iNOS is absent); this remains to be tested experimentally.  相似文献

Our objective was to determine whether rates of luteolysis or pregnancy differed in lactating dairy cows of known progesterone status and either known or unknown luteal status after either cloprostenol or dinoprost was injected as part of a timed-insemination program. In Experiment 1, 2358 lactating dairy cows in six herds were given two injections of PGF 14 d apart (Presynch), with the second injection given 12 to 14 d before the onset of a timed AI protocol (Ovsynch). Cows (n = 1094) were inseminated when detected in estrus after the Presynch PGF injections. Cows not inseminated (n = 1264) were enrolled in the Ovsynch protocol and assigned randomly to be treated with either cloprostenol or dinoprost as part of the timed-AI protocol. In cows having pretreatment concentrations of progesterone ≥ 1 ng/mL and potentially having a functional corpus luteum (CL) responsive to cloprostenol (n = 558) or dinoprost (n = 519), dinoprost increased (P < 0.05) luteal regression from 86.6 to 91.3%. Despite a significant increase in luteolysis, pregnancies per AI did not differ between luteolytic agents (dinoprost = 37.8% and cloprostenol = 36.7%). Fertility was improved in cows of both treatments having reduced concentrations of progesterone at 72 h and in cows showing signs of estrus. In Experiment 2, an ovulation-resynchronization program was initiated with GnRH or saline in 427 previously inseminated lactating dairy cows of unknown pregnancy status in one herd. Seven days later, pregnancy was diagnosed and nonpregnant cows were blocked by number of CL and assigned randomly to be treated with cloprostenol or dinoprost. Compared with cloprostenol, dinoprost increased (P < 0.05) luteal regression from 69.1 to 78.5%, regardless of the number of CL present or the total luteal volume per cow. Pregnancies per AI did not differ between dinoprost (32.8%) and cloprostenol (31.3%). Although dinoprost was more effective than cloprostenol at inducing luteolysis in lactating dairy cows exposed to an Ovsynch or ovulation-resynchronization protocol, resulting fertility did not differ between products.  相似文献

The present study aimed to assess the efficacy of reduced doses of cloprostenol for synchronizing estrus and ovulation in hair sheep. With the aim to evaluate the luteolytic activity of reduced cloprostenol doses, a first experiment was performed using a relatively large (group H: 126 μg; n = 8), medium (group M: 68.25 μg; n = 6) and small (group L: 38.5 μg; n = 6) cloprostenol dose. Luteolysis was assessed at Days 3 and 6 after injection (Day 0) by progesterone concentrations (P4) and transrectal ultrasonography (US). In Experiment 2, sheep were randomly assigned to the same three doses to evaluate a protocol for estrous synchronization using two injections administered 9 days apart. A third trial was performed with ewes treated (9 days apart) with the large dose (H = 126 μg; n = 12) and with a small dose adjusted for facilitating volume management (LA = 43.75 μg; n = 12). Presence of estrous cycling was determined in all the ewes by US and P4 assay, at Days −9, −6, −2, 0 (Day of second cloprostenol injection), 8 and 11. Bleeding and US were done every 4 h from 16 h of the beginning of the estrus during the third trial to assess the preovulatory LH surge and timing of ovulation. Additionally, blood samples were drawn at Days 0, 1, 2 and 3 to assess estradiol (Experiments 2 and 3) and P4 (Experiment 2) concentrations during the ovarian follicular phase. In all experiments, percentage of animals showing luteolysis, preovulatory follicular dynamics and function and percentage of ewes showing behavioral estrus in response to treatment was similar among groups. Timing of estrus for group H was earlier than group L (28.6 ± 1.8 h compared with 37.1 ± 2.4 h; P < 0.05). In the third trial, the preovulatory LH peak was higher in the LA group than group H, in terms of maximum mean concentration during the surge (27.7 ± 1.8 ng/mL compared with 21.3 ± 2.2 ng/mL; P < 0.05) and area under the curve (AUC; 183.4 ± 12.7 ng/mL compared with 127.7 ± 10.9 ng/mL; P < 0.01). However, timing of ovulation was similar for H and LA groups. Thereafter, ovulation rate and luteal function at Day 11 were similar. Current results demonstrate that reduced doses of cloprostenol may be applied in a practical manner for reproductive management of sheep, with the additional advantage of reducing treatment costs.  相似文献

Hypertension may impact pelvic arterial blood flow resulting in reduction of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) levels. Although doxazosin, an alpha(1)-adrenoceptor antagonist, has been shown to improve erectile dysfunction as well as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hypertension, it is not clear whether these improvements using doxazosin are primarily due to direct actions on the prostate, urinary bladder and penis, possibly via inhibition of vascular alpha(1)-adrenoceptors, or other sites of actions. Therefore, we investigated effects of doxazosin to the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) on blood flow and NOS levels in the genitourinary tract. Four groups of rats were assessed: group 1, SHRs treated with doxazosin (30 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks; group 2, SHRs treated with nifedipine (30 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks; group 3, untreated SHRs; and group 4, untreated Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats. Blood flow to the ventral prostate, dorsolateral prostate, urinary bladder and penis was determined using a fluorescent microsphere infusion technique. Expression levels of nNOS and eNOS mRNAs were quantified by real-time RT-PCR using SYBR Green I. Blood flow to the ventral prostate, dorsolateral prostate, urinary bladder and penis was significantly lower in untreated SHRs than WKY rats. Treatment with doxazosin increased blood flow to each tissue studied in SHRs. RT-PCR data indicated that untreated SHRs had lower mRNA expression levels of nNOS in the bladder and penis and eNOS in the penis than WKY rats and that administration of doxazosin to the SHR caused an increase in expression levels of these genes, i.e., up-regulation of nNOS in the bladder and penis and eNOS in the penis. However, nifedipine had no significant effects on blood flow and NOS levels in the SHR genitourinary tract. Our data demonstrate that doxazosin treatment causes differential alterations in blood flow and NOS levels in the SHR genitourinary tract. These findings may provide insight into the beneficial effects of alpha(1)-adrenoceptor antagonists, on prostate, bladder and penile function, when used to treat symptoms of BPH and elevated blood pressure.  相似文献

Serum concentration of nitric oxide metabolites (NOx) is associated with cardiovascular disease risk factors in pediatrics. The aim of this study was to determine sex- and age-specific reference ranges for serum NOx concentrations in pediatrics. Serum NOx levels were measured in 401 subjects (189 boys and 212 girls), aged 4–19 years, using the Griess method. Study subjects selected from participants of Tehran lipid and glucose study, an ongoing cohort study aimed at determining of noncommunicable disease risk factors among Tehranian subjects. The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry guidelines and the robust method were used for determining reference values for sample sizes greater or less than 120 respectively. The 95% reference values for serum NOx concentrations were 13.6–69.2, 11.4–66.0, and 12.2–69.4 μmol/L in boys, girls, and total population respectively. The upper limit of serum NOx was 28% lower in otherwise healthy overweight and obese boys while it was 6% higher in overweight and obese girls, for both groups compared to their corresponding normal weight subjects. In conclusion, this study, for the first time, reports reference values for serum NOx levels in healthy children and adolescents.  相似文献

It has been deduced (Lancaster, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 91 (1994) 8137–8141), from a consideration of Fick’s law of diffusion, that the very effective scavenging of nitric oxide (NO) by haemoglobin in red blood cells prevents any NO from endothelial cells migrating outwards into vascular smooth muscle. This conclusion has led some authors to suggest that endothelium-derived relaxing factor (EDRF) is not free NO. We have reconsidered the application of Fick’s law to the migration of NO in the vasculature, making allowance for the reaction of NO with guanylate cyclase and for the layer of red blood-free plasma next to the endothelium. The source of NO is taken as an infinite cylinder. Calculations for vessels of various diameters indicate that a substantial amount of NO migrates outwards in spite of very effective scavenging by haemoglobin and that the relative amount of NO migrating outwards depends upon the radius of the vessel. The view that locally produced NO is not responsible for vascular dilation has not been sustained.  相似文献

AimHigh glycerol cryopreservation of red blood cells (RBCs) reduces metabolic processes at ultralow temperatures but less is known regarding the effect of cryopreservation on RBC nitric oxide (NO) metabolism, haemorheological properties, structural behaviour and membrane fragility.MethodsBlood from ten healthy participants was sampled, glycerolized and stored at −80 °C (SB). Aliquots were thawed and further processed after 4, 8 and 12 weeks, respectively. At these time points, fresh blood (FB) was additionally sampled from each participant. FB/SB mixtures were prepared corresponding to transfusion of 1–3 blood bags. Additionally, mixtures were exposed to shear stress similar to that found in the circulation and deformability was measured to estimate possible behaviour of cryopreserved RBC in vivo.ResultsAgeing of RBC was reduced during cryopreservation. Markers for RBC metabolism (ATP, 2,3-DPG) were not altered but RBC sodium levels increased and potassium and calcium decreased, respectively. Mean cellular volume was higher and accordingly, mean cellular haemoglobin concentration was lower in SB. Deformability was altered during storage with less shear stress necessary to deform RBCs. Changes were also detectable in blood mixtures. Deformability remained unaltered in shear stress settings in FB and SB. RBC viscosity was reduced in SB. RBC-NOS content and phosphorylation sites as well as nitrite and RxNO levels seem not to be affected by the intervention.ConclusionCryopreservation maintains RBC metabolic function in vitro, but structure and function of cryopreserved RBC seems to be altered. Impact of these alterations in vivo seems to be less but needs further investigation.  相似文献

The mechanism of the nitric oxide reduction in a bacterial nitric oxide reductase (NOR) has been investigated in two model systems of the heme-b3-FeB active site using density functional theory (B3LYP). A model with an octahedral coordination of the non-heme FeB consisting of three histidines, one glutamate and one water molecule gave an energetically feasible reaction mechanism. A tetrahedral coordination of the non-heme iron, corresponding to the one of CuB in cytochrome oxidase, gave several very high barriers which makes this type of coordination unlikely. The first nitric oxide coordinates to heme b3 and is partly reduced to a more nitroxyl anion character, which activates it toward an attack from the second NO. The product in this reaction step is a hyponitrite dianion coordinating in between the two irons. Cleaving an NO bond in this intermediate forms an FeB (IV)O and nitrous oxide, and this is the rate determining step in the reaction mechanism. In the model with an octahedral coordination of FeB the intrinsic barrier of this step is 16.3 kcal/mol, which is in good agreement with the experimental value of 15.9 kcal/mol. However, the total barrier is 21.3 kcal/mol, mainly due to the endergonic reduction of heme b3 taken from experimental reduction potentials. After nitrous oxide has left the active site the ferrylic FeB will form a μ-oxo bridge to heme b3 in a reaction step exergonic by 45.3 kcal/mol. The formation of a quite stable μ-oxo bridge between heme b3 and FeB is in agreement with this intermediate being the experimentally observed resting state in oxidized NOR. The formation of a ferrylic non-heme FeB in the proposed reaction mechanism could be one reason for having an iron as the non-heme metal ion in NOR instead of a Cu as in cytochrome oxidase.  相似文献

Background

Nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to be important in sperm function, and the concentration of NO appears to determine these effects. Studies have demonstrated both positive and negative effects of NO on sperm function, but have not been able to provide a clear link between NO concentration and the extent of exposure to NO. To study the relationship between nitric oxide and sperm capacitation in vitro, and to provide a theoretical basis for the use of NO-related preparations in improving sperm motility for in vitro fertilization, we investigated the effects of NO concentration and time duration at these concentrations on in vitro sperm capacitation in both normal and abnormal sperm groups. We manipulated NO concentrations and the time duration of these concentrations using sodium nitroprusside (an NO donor) and NG-monomethyl-L-argenine (an NO synthase inhibitor).

Results

Compared to the normal sperm group, the abnormal sperm group had a longer basal time to reach the appropriate concentration of NO (p < 0.001), and the duration of time at this concentration was longer for the abnormal sperm group (p < 0.001). Both the basal time and the duration of time were significantly correlated with sperm viability and percentage of progressive sperm (p < 0.001). The experimental group had a significantly higher percentage of progressive sperm than the control group (p < 0.001).

Conclusions

We hypothesize that there is a certain regularity to both NO concentration and its duration of time in regards to sperm capacitation, and that an adequate duration of time at the appropriate NO concentration is beneficial to sperm motility.  相似文献

Abstract NO production and consumption rates as well as N2O accumulation rates were measured in a loamy cambisol which was incubated under different conditions (i.e. soil moisture content, addition of nitrogen fertilizer and/or glucose, aerobic or anaerobic gas phase). Inhibition of nitrification with acetylene allowed us to distinguish between nitrification and denitrification as sources of NO and N2O. Under aerobic conditions untreated soil showed very low release of NO and N2O but high consumption of NO. Fertilization with NH4+ or urea stimulated both NO and N2O production by nitrification. Addition of glucose at high soil moisture contents led to increased N2 and N2O production by denitrification, but not to increased NO production rates. Anaerobic conditions, however, stimulated both NO and N2O production by denitrification. The production of NO and N2O was further stimulated at low moisture contents and after addition of glucose or NO3. Anaerobic consumption of NO by denitrification followed Michaelis-Menten kinetics and was stimulated by addition of glucose and NO3. Aerobic consumption of NO followed first-order kinetics up to mixing ratios of at least 14 ppmv NO, was inhibited by autoclaving but not by acetylene, and decreased with increasing soil moisture content. The high NO-consumption activity and the effects of soil moisture on the apparent rates of anaerobic and aerobic production and consumption of NO suggest that diffusional constraints have an important influence on the release of NO, and may be a reason for the different behaviour of NO release vs N2O release.  相似文献

Luteolysis, which occurs in a cyclical way to remove luteal tissue, may be an example of physiological apoptosis which counterbalances rapid tissue growth after ovulation. Clusterin is a multifunctional glycoprotein expressed in different tissues undergoing apoptosis. In this study we investigated clusterin and LH receptor gene expression during luteolysis as potential regulators of tissue growth and regression. Luteolysis was induced in pregnant sows (45 days) by Cloprostenol (PGF2 alpha analogue) treatment. Clusterin expression increased in the corpora lutea of pregnant sows ovariectomized 0, 6, 12, 24, 48 or 72 (n = 3) h after the luteolytic stimulus; maximum values were observed 24-48 h after the treatment (P < 0.01). An opposite trend between clusterin mRNA expression and markers of luteal function, such as progesterone levels in the corpora lutea and plasma, and LHr mRNA expression levels, was observed; moreover, clusterin expression was positively correlated with the degree of genomic DNA fragmentation, a marker of occurring apoptosis (P < 0.01). This pattern may be important in regulating luteolysis by a switch between luteotrophic and apoptotic stimulus. Our data indicate that P4 levels decrease prior to the increase in clusterin mRNA and the drop in LHr mRNA expression; we may therefore hypothesize a split between functional and structural luteolysis as reported in other species.  相似文献

Nitric oxide (NO) is the mediator of ischemic preconditioning against myocardial infarction. Desflurane produces anesthetic preconditioning to protect the myocardium against infarction. In the model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rabbits, we evaluated desflurane-induced ischemic preconditioning and studied its mechanism of NO synthesis. Thirty-two male adult New Zealand white rabbits were anesthetized with intravenous (IV) 30 mg/kg pentobarbital followed by 5 mg/kg/hr infusion. All rabbits were subjected to 30 minutes (min) long lasting left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) occlusion and three hours (hr) of subsequent reperfusion. Before LAD occlusion, the rabbits were randomly allocated into four groups for preconditioning treatment (eight for each group). The control group did not receive any preconditioning treatment. The desflurane group received inhaled desflurane 1.0 MAC (minimal end-tidal alveolar concentration) for 30 min that was followed by a 15 min washout period. The L-NAME-desflurane group received L-NAME (NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester; non-selective Nitric Oxide Synthetase (NOS) inhibitor) 1 mg/kg IV 15 min before 1.0 MAC inhaled desflurane for 30 min. The L-NAME group received L-NAME 1 mg/kg IV. Infarct volume, ventricular arrhythmia, plasma lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK) activity and myocardial perfusion were recorded simultaneously. We have found that hemodynamic values of the coronary blood flow before, during, and after LAD occlusion were not significantly different among these four groups. For the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury animals, the infarction size (mean +/- SEM) in the desflurane group was significantly reduced to 18 +/- 3% in the area at risk as compared with 42 +/- 7% in the control group, 35 +/- 6 in the L-NAME group, and 34 +/- 4% in the L-NAME-desflurane group. The plasma LDH, CK levels, and duration of ventricular arrhythmia were also significantly decreased in the desflurane group during ischemia-reperfusion injury. Our results indicate that desflurane is an anesthetic preconditioning agent, which could protect the myocardium against the ischemia-reperfusion injury. Abstract NO production and consumption rates as well as N2O accumulation rates were measured in a loamy cambisol which was incubated under different conditions (i.e. soil moisture content, addition of nitrogen fertilizer and/or glucose, aerobic or anaerobic gas phase). Inhibition of nitrification with acetylene allowed us to distinguish between nitrification and denitrification as sources of NO and N2O. Under aerobic conditions untreated soil showed very low release of NO and N2O but high consumption of NO. Fertilization with NH4+ or urea stimulated both NO and N2O production by nitrification. Addition of glucose at high soil moisture contents led to increased N2 and N2O production by denitrification, but not to increased NO production rates. Anaerobic conditions, however, stimulated both NO and N2O production by denitrification. The production of NO and N2O was further stimulated at low moisture contents and after addition of glucose or NO3. Anaerobic consumption of NO by denitrification followed Michaelis-Menten kinetics and was stimulated by addition of glucose and NO3. Aerobic consumption of NO followed first-order kinetics up to mixing ratios of at least 14 ppmv NO, was inhibited by autoclaving but not by acetylene, and decreased with increasing soil moisture content. The high NO-consumption activity and the effects of soil moisture on the apparent rates of anaerobic and aerobic production and consumption of NO suggest that diffusional constraints have an important influence on the release of NO, and may be a reason for the different behaviour of NO release vs N2O release.  相似文献
