The structure of the tropical oceanic diatom Gossleriella tropica Schütt was examined in the light and electron microscopes. The species is characterized by a primarily poroid valve, surface, it single central labiate process and a unique ring of spines attached to the cingulum. Placement of the genus in the family Rhizosoleniaceae is suggested. Although G. tropica is widely distributed in the world's oceans, it is usually confined to the lower photic zone, salinities of 34.5–35.5% and temperatures of 15–30 C.  相似文献

利用扫描电镜对中国产瓶尔小草科2属7种的孢子进行了研究,其中包括瓶尔小草属6种,即裸茎瓶尔小草(OphioglossumnudicauleL.f)、尖头瓶尔小草(O.pedunculosumDesv.)、钝头瓶尔小草(O.petiolatumHook)、狭叶瓶尔小草(O.thermaleKom.)、心脏叶瓶尔小草(O.reticulatumL.)和瓶尔小草(O.vulgatumL.),蛇蕨属1种,即蛇蕨(又名带状瓶尔小草OphiodermapendulaPresl),对每个种的孢子形态特征进行描述。根据孢子形态特征,我们认为将中国的瓶尔小草科植物分为瓶尔小草属和蛇蕨属两个属是合适的。通过观察,进一步认定孢子外壁的纹饰特征极具分类参考价值,并可以作为种的界限的依据。  相似文献

本文在经典分类基础上,就秦岭地区常见的7种耳蕨属(Polystichum)植物,采用光学显微镜和扫描电子显微镜,对其孢子形态进行了系统的观察。在扫描电镜下,从形态和周壁纹饰上可将孢子分为两种类型:一种是周壁具明显的褶皱,其表面分布稀疏或较密集的小瘤状或小疣状突起,无穿孔;另一种周壁较薄,褶皱具明显穿孔,穿孔大小及形状不一致,周壁表面有颗粒状或小刺状突起。研究表明,孢子形态、周壁纹饰在种间具有明显差异,从而可为本属种间分类提供孢粉学依据。  相似文献

利用扫描电子显微镜对我国产蹄盖蕨属44种植物的孢子进行了观察。结果表明,该属孢子形态为单裂缝,两侧对称,极面观为椭圆形,赤道面观为豆形。外壁表面光滑,由周壁形成表面纹装饰。根据周壁的结构和表面纹饰,可分为两种类型;一是周壁外层发达,形成粗大的脊状纹饰,有11种属此类型;二是周壁外层很薄或不完全发育,由周壁内层或中层形成表面纹饰,有33种属此类型纹饰。本文还就本属的孢子形态特征以及与本属的属下分类关系、本属与邻近属的关系等进行了讨论。  相似文献

The distributional patterns of diatoms in the plankton of the Yaqnina Estuary, Oregon, were, investigated and related to selected climatic and hydrographic factors. Distribution was strongly influenced by seasonal patterns of rainfall resulting in the introduction of a large volume of fresh water into the estuary during fall and winter. Plankton assemblages in spring, summer and fall had fewer diatom species and exhibited a more rapid rate of change in species composition than in winter. Winter assemblages were further characterized by many pennate diatoms, apparently dislodged from the benthos during periods of high freshwater discharge and silt loads. A statistical measure of community difference indicated an increase in taxonomic homogeneity among assemblages throughout the estuary with the onset of the rainy season in late fall and a gradual transition to a more heterogeneous system again during late spring. Canonical correlation ordered 20 prominent diatom taxa along the salinity gradient and identified possible relationships among certain taxa and selected environmental variables, namely visible light energy and temperature. Redundancy in the species data given the environmental data was only 40%, emphasizing the difficulty in demonstrating a quantitive relationship between plankton dynamics in the field and concurrent measurements of chemical and physical variables.  相似文献

利用扫描电子显微镜对我国产金粉蕨属8种2变种蕨类植物的孢子进行了观察。结果表明,该属孢子形态较为一致。三裂缝,辐射对称,极面观为钝三角形或三角圆形,赤道面观为椭圆形,超半圆形成或扇形,周壁较薄,外壁突起形成表面纹饰的基本轮廓,具赤道环,近极脊和远极脊等结构,种间差异主要表现在远极面的纹饰形态上,从孢子形态上看,金粉蕨属与中国蕨科其它属差异较大,而与凤尾蕨属相似,建议将本属放在凤尾蕨科。  相似文献

Short-term (within 5 min) and long-term (≤2 h) rates of nitrate uptake were determined for the marine diatoms, Nitschiella longissima (Cleve), Skeletonema costatum (Greville) Cleve and Asterionella japonica (Cleve). Pigment levels, cell carbon, nitrogen and cell volume were also determined for cells in the logarithmic and stationary phases of growth. For each species, one clone isolated from oligotrophic coastal water and one clone isolated from eutrophic coastal water were compared. Long-term NO3? uptake typically followed saturation kinetics describable by the Michaelis-Menten expression. Under experimental conditions, half-saturation constants ranged from 0.6 to 2.2 μM NO3?. Generally, the oligotrophic clones had lower Ks and Vmax (on a per cell basis) than their eutrophic counterparts, though this was only statistically significant in one pair of clones. Eutrophic and oligotrophic clones also differed in their short-term response to nutrient addition; oligotrophic clones showed greatest rate of uptake at the lowest nitrate addition while uptake by eutrophic clones increased with increasing nitrate concentration. However, all clones had very similar Vmax values expressed on a dry weight basis. Under N-starvation, cellular C and pigment levels (and N to a lesser extent) generally declined more in eutrophic than in oligotrophic clones. While the differences between inshore and offshore clones were not great, the results are consistent with the hypothesis that eutrophic waters support algae which grow faster and are less conservative biochemically than cells in oligotrophic waters.  相似文献

The toxic effects of copper on resting spore formation and viability in the marine diatom Chaetoceros protuberans Lauder were determined both with and without silicic acid added to the medium. With silicic acid available, partial inhibition of resting spore formation occurred only at the highest cupric ion activity (pCu 8.6), while the percentage of cells forming spores at pCu's 10.2 and 11.3 was nearly the same as in the controls. Without silicic acid added to the medium, sporulation was completely inhibited at pCu 8.6 and greatly inhibited, at pCu 10.2. At pCu 11.3 and in the controls, the rate of spore formation was less than 50%. The results indicate that the inhibition of resting spore formation by copper is related to the concentration of silicic acid available to cells of C protuberans. This is consistent with previous studies which show that copper toxicity during vegetative growth involves interference with silicification in diatoms and is a Junction of the silicic acid concentration of the medium. Viable resting spores of C. protuberans were still present in cultures following exposure to elevated copper concentrations during a 100-day incubation period. This indicates that resting spores can serve to enhance diatom survival in areas polluted by heavy metals.  相似文献

Acid cleaned cells from clonal cultures of Fragilaria capucina var. mesolepta Rabh. were examined with light and scanning electron microscopy. Recently isolated cells are linear-lanceolate in shape with a median constriction. After several transfers over 25 mo, cells exhibit size diminution resulting in small elliptically shaped valves. Adjacent valves are united to one another by interlocking marginal spines. Every valve has an apical pore field at each apex. A single labiate process is present infrequtently, appearing underdeveloped most often in size-reduced cells. The girdle region consists of two cingula, each composed of a series of underlapping bands. Each pleura in the series is a discontinuous ring with a central ligula. A survey of past ultrastructure studies on the freshwater Fragilariaceae reveals that the occurrence of the apical pore field and labiate process are likely key characteristics for the family. The apical pore field of Diatoma, Asterionella and Tabellaria is positioned on the valve face, whereas the apical pore field of F. capucina var. mesolepta is located on the valve mantle, the girdle region of F. capucina var. mesolepta is basically similar to that of Gomphonema parvulum (Kütz.) Frustules of a clonal culture of Melosira roeseana Rabenh. were examined with light and scanning electron microscopy. Vegetative valves in the post-auxospore (full size) stage exhibit a larger width/length ratio than those in the pre-auxospore (size-reduced) stage. Cells form chains by linking spines of adjacent valves which occur at the periphery of the valve face-mantle junction. Three or jour large pores occur at the center of the valve face, with the diameter of each pore tapering from the inner to the outer valve surface; these pores are often occluded by siliceous processes. Features of M. roeseana, not shown previously for Melosira, include a “stepped” mantle, on only one of the two valves resulting from the same cell division, flattened processes attached to short siliceous stalks on the valve face, disk-like processes on the mantle, and an open girdle band with up to eight antiligulae. Siliceous scales on the surface of the initial cell are remnants of the auxospore wall. The epivalve of the initial cell is larger in diameter than the hypovalve, and both valves lack linking spines and a step on the valve surface. The initial, cell epicingulum consists of only two bands; the hypocingulum has up to seven. Initial cells with four or more hypocingular bands divide to form new post-auxospore filaments. Melosira roeseana should not be included in the genus Melosira as it is presently defined by the type species, M. nurnmuloides C. Ag. Major differences include irregular linking spines, a closed pseudoloculate valve construction, and labiate processes on the valve face and mantle of M. nummuloides, compared with well-defined linking spines, a valve constructed of a basal siliceous layer perforated by poroid areolae, and labiate processes lacking on the valve of M. roeseana.  相似文献
